The Shim Sham Room

Went there for happy hour and the margaritas were delightful. They had some orange and blackberry margaritas along with traditional ones. The bartender was super nice and friendly. The bathrooms were a bit rough, but still a solid place in Jax Beach.

While visiting my mom from NYC, we came to the beach for a drink, while this place was empty when we arrived it filled right up and quickly! The drinks are amazing and if you want something special they will do it. Gin and Egg white “something” was my request and I had two beautiful drinks. I mean look at the pictures....

We have all been there, hungry at 1am thinking about hitting up the drive through or huddle house, but once you have had a slider from Shim Sham you will never go back to that big mac again. They are amazing and definitely worth the wait if its a busy night.

My wife took me here for my birthday for a few cocktails. She loved the name... now it has a whole new meaning. They are not just closed, but under repairs. Recent Instagram and Facebook posts. And Google Maps shows it open. Well... nada! Have the common decency to let people know. Sorry for the bad review, but maybe I'll update it when you're back up and running.

Always come here for Taco Tuesday. $2 tacos and $5 for a beer and a shot. One of the best secrets for food in jax beach!

The bartenders were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was lively and softly lit with a few places for photo ops. The downside is there are no quiet areas and it is too loud to hear what anyone is saying and the upstairs area was uncomfortably hot and humid. If you order food, it may take the wait staff/bartenders a while to get back to you. Personally, it was okay, but I wouldn't go back.

They freshly squeeze everything and these spicy margs are the BEST! 10/10 recommend for a happy hour stop in, the menu looked great too 🌮

Shim sham will be missed, but it was always a cool spot with some of my favorite drinks at the beach. Super dark tho!

Finally tried the food here after hearing rave reviews. During happy hour they have great prices on food and drinks. We had the chicken and waffles, burrito, and tots. Do yourself a favor and try these chicken and waffles ASAP!! They are served in small pieces, making this a perfect dish to share. The burrito was delicious as well- full of flavor and fresh. The tots were good but we barely touched them after eating the other two dishes. Great drink and cocktail specials too! Will be back again to try their taco Tuesday!

Beers? Check. Booze? Check. Bar food? Check. Bears? Absolutely. This is our favorite bar on Jax Beach. Bar none. And their staff is very friendly. No homophobes from what we could tell after 3 debaucherous hours of delicious cocktails and selfies with their bear. 5 stars.

*From the producers that brought you Dos Gatos* I love the mildly divey (but also high-end) feel and "party in the basement" vibe I get at Shim Sham! I know that makes no sense until you visit, and I apologize if I'm confusing you! Lol! While I have not found a bartender to love here yet (which is very important to me), the craft cocktails are great and in my most recent discovery-- the food is pretty darn good to boot! I'm building my affection for the Shim Sham Room, and so far we're off to a great start!

The Shim Sham room is no sham (sorry not sorry for the corniness)! Intrigued by the name, we wandered in to find a nearly empty bar with some loud music. We ended up sitting at the bar and had the bartender serve up some cocktails for us. I enjoyed the more personal service we got before it got busy. We chatted with the bartender and he mixed up an Aviation gin cocktail for me to replace one of the gin cocktails he didn't prefer on the menu. Even so, after my Aviation cocktail, I wanted to try the Daisy. As the bartender promised, it wasn't super special and the aviation was better. But I still liked it enough to finish it. I ended the evening with the Yokohama, which was refreshing and very "cucumber-y", as the bartender coined it. At this point, I have no idea how I was still only slightly buzzing, but maybe it was due to sticking to strictly gin all evening. They had some shots on their menu that I didn't find particularly appetizing. A popular one seemed to be the flaming "Green Chartreuse". We decided to pass on the excitement and chose to take two shots of Fernet Blanca, which were bleh. Strong, though. I can't speak for the food, but the drinks and service were excellent. I'm not quite sure what sort of vibe they were going for with the fancy cocktails, while there were bros taking shots next to us... but everything is very reasonably priced (cheaper than Atlanta booze for sure) and I would definitely love another opportunity to come back and check out their seasonal cocktail menu the next time I'm in Jacksonville!

My friends and I go to Shim Sham all the time and Morgan the bartender is the best bartender in Jax beach. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and fantastic at customer service. Shim sham is lucky to have such a charismatic person on their staff who truly cares for the customers experience.

So I've been to shim sham once before for my friends 21st. We had an AMAZING time, the vibes were good and we had fast service for it being so busy. However the last time I visited with my boyfriend for his 21st it act

$2 taco Tuesday with choice of chicken, steak, or beef. Tacos were served fresh, hot and very tasteful. Definitely a great date night out!

What's not to like about the Shim Sham Room?? They have a large stuffed bear for selfies, two levels of bars, and are right by the ocean. Drop the mic. We were a group of about 6 when we strolled into Shim Sham for a few drinks and a little flim flam. We started out upstairs, and had a drink at the bar. The bartenders are knowledgable, and have some of the higher-end spirits that I like to enjoy. After a nice, stiff drink, and the entrance of what appeared to be a wedding party, we headed downstairs to escape the madness and take up spots on the patio. The nice thing about the patio is that it is much more mellow than the indoor sections, and is much easier to enjoy conversation among friends. The drink prices are not outrageous, and we stayed for a few hours. We did not eat the food, but the buzz around the campfire is that it is very good. Also, while adventuring to the gentleman's room, we noticed the large, stuffed bear. Well, of course we had to take photos with it. What kind of virgin voyage to Shim Sham would you be making if you did not take a picture with the bear?! After the fun ad games, we moved along, but the adventure we embarked upon at Shim Sham will always hold a dear place in my heart. If tasty adult beverages and a fun atmosphere near the beach is your jam, stop on into Shim Sham. Don't forget to meet the bear, he is looking forward to meeting you.

The WORST management I have ever seen. Targeted one of our friends because he was African American. They didn't question anyone but him about his attire. His attire was appropriate and met Shim Shams attire expectations but they targeted him and questioned him regardless. The person at the door and the manager both refused entry despite his appropriate attire. The bouncer even said the manager was racist... DO NOT GO HERE!!!! This place is horrible.

So, we're walking by Shim Sham trying to decide where we wanted to hang out for a drink and dinner. The front door guy was super nice and encouraged us to eat here. He said the food was good! We walked the strip for about a half block and checked out menus- and the vibes, but none of them compared to DeShawn's (I think that was his name) greeting. I had the sliders, tater tots w/Parmesan seasoning. Not a huge fan of tots for adults at dinner, but these worked! They tasted like crunchy little french fries with seasoning! I added bacon to my sliders and they were so good! My dining partner had the chicken and waffles! Wow! Little crunchy small bites of waffle and crunch small bites of breaded chicken, served with powdered sugar sprinkled on top and a side of maple syrup. Yummy! I took one star away because the bartender asked us for our credit card, to keep on file, after we ordered our food. In my opinion, he didn't have to ask because the place was practically empty and we're (2 of us) the only ones at the bar. We didn't comply, and he made a "good" judgement call and it all worked out. We made a few friends, enjoyed some drinks and delicious dive food!

Fun bar with a bit of a divey feel to it. I'd give 5 stars for the DJ alone because the music was awesome. I came in for a quick drink and ended up really liking the specials they had. The only thing that was a bit off to me was the fact that my boyfriend and I were the only people in the bar and they had at least 6 bartenders....a bit much haha, but I guess you can't always predict your crowd size. Can you say minimal wait time on drinks? Overall a cool bar worth checking out.

Oh my gosh so good!!! We took our four kids ranging from 17-20 years old and ordered the menu!!! The whole menu which is an actual order. My husband and I loved our drinks the kids were loving it! So fun! Good memory.

Visited Jacksonville for Memorial Weekend and stumbled across the Shim Sham Room. I popped in with a few friends for drinks before another club we were going to. We stood at the bar for what seemed like forever before someone even noticed us. They took the order and then again we waited even longer for the drinks to be made. The bar wasn't full and it was 5p on a Sunday. I guess w looked like visitors? The bar seemed to be full of locals and maybe we stood out as new? Aside from the long wait, one of the drinks had a hair in it! My friend took it back to the bar and they replaced and didn't charge her for it, which was nice of them. Not sure I would go back, the vibe wasn't the best and we were ignored for a while.

Here's the deal: I love me some craft cocktails - especially the classics. I don't hide this aspect of my life by any means. Hot damn, Shim Sham, you make mean-spirited concoctions! From the Dos Gatos family, Shim Sham is a high end, low-lit cocktail bar in Jax Beach. The bartenders are well-versed mixologists that can knock out any drink thrown their way. I've never tried the food here, but their pics have me foaming at the mouth! Why the average rating with only high praise? Because, each time I've been here it's been on a Friday night. Y'all familiar with Friday nights in Jax Beach? It's ratchet as fuuuuhh. They blast the music to a tone-deafening roar, the bartenders can't articulate what you're asking for, you end up waiting 15 minutes for a drink, and by the time you get it, the cocktail loses its value. I bet if I frequented Shim Sham on a Tuesday night, my experiences would be night and day different. If I were single I'd also probably enjoy myself more, because lawdy, the ladies be dressing to the nines and looking fine!

Somebody give Emily a raise!!!! Best bar tender! Made sure we were all good. Energy was amazing. Very charismatic. Incredible experience. 10/10 would definitely recommend

Wow I never thought to get food here. Just hang out have some awesome cocktails. Their food is amazing. Limited menu but that why it's so good. The best part is it inexpensive!

Bar hopping around the beach we eventually found ourselves at the Shim Sham Room. This dark, quirky bar was exactly the kind of place I look for whenever I'm in a new city. Their solid cocktail menu showed sparks of creativity and their food had the same attention to detail. I ended up going through several drinks, but loved the Smokey Joe. It's a winner anytime you have to set fire to wood to achieve a cocktail. We only lingered for a few rounds, but I'll definitely be returning to this lovely joint.

I walked up about a minute behind a friend last week and the young guy at the door said "he not comin in". I asked why, and he looked away, ignoring me. I asked politely if he had said or did something wrong, and he pretended he couldn't hear me and looked away again. If my friend seemed too inebriated or didn't fit the dress code or something that's absolutely fine, but your security should learn to use their words and articulate this instead of mumbling and pretending we aren't standing there.

I'm visiting from Portland, OR and I know good cocktails. Everybody in my group of 4 ordered different drinks and they were all fantastic. The sliders, also incredibly tasty. I would highly recommend The Shim Sham to anyone looking for a place to hang and grab a drink on Jax Beach. However, the real reason I'm writing this review is because of Nicole. This girl is amazing! I couldn't initially decide what to order; she was patient knowledgeable and just about the sweetest bartender I have ever encountered. She ensured I was happy with my drink, a rarity these days. She left a lasting impression that I won't soon forget. Nicole thanks for the outstanding service, you are a gem

We were here for taco Tuesday and sliders. My husband and I both got the beef tacos and one of each of the sliders. Holy cow they were all yummy!! You could tell the beef is fresh! I can't believe we haven't been here before. We will definitely be back next time we are in town. We talked with 3 of the bartenders and they were all super friendly and nice!

Such a fun place! I am a very bad dancer, but after some Shim Sham drinks I begin to think otherwise and make my way to the dance floor without shame. It's dark, loud, and gets pretty crowded but you can't really go to a bar at Jax Beach around midnight without expecting that. This is also much more than a bar. They serve great food too! Upstairs is where the dancing takes place. There was a DJ when we went playing some funky house music. I was concerned that they may have been over serving a few customers but I'm not confident enough to deduct stars. As for my customer service, it was perfect. The servers never rushed me and seemed so incredibly happy making their craft cocktails! Their sign read: This tequila tastes like I'm not going to work tomorrow!

Absolute trash. Girl working the door last night advised I was "too intoxicated" for entry. I hadn't even consumed one beverage at the time, they lost about $200 with the group I had who all left because of her. Maybe she should just find a new position because she's doing no good for business.

Wow! I cannot believe I have never been here before . Stopped in this fantastic bar with my coworker friends Tuesday night . We arrived probably around 11 pm . After seating at a comfortable table we ordered drinks . I had an old fashioned and let me tell you , these bartenders know their stuff ! No joke . An extraordinarily made old fashioned whiskey that ended up being 3 or 4 more.. Even better since it was taco Tuesday they had housemate tacos for $2 dollars and they were so delicious. I ordered 4. The combination of fun music, lively scene, knowledgeable bartenders, good tacos makes this place an A + in my book. Thanks Shim SHam! I'll be back!

I LOVE THIS BAR!!!!!!!!! Very welcoming great music awesome people and environment and also great food!!! I highly recommend if you haven't been here. I went to the bar across the street and compared to the shim sham it's nothing any and everyone should most definitely come here first.. I guarantee you won't want to leave

Stopped in for a quick drink and Miranda was SO friendly we had to come back later that night for another. She remembered us and our drinks and as a bartender it meant a lot. Go see her!!

I can't say too much about Shim Sham Room because we didn't get to enjoy the vibe here. We are not from Jacksonville Beach, so we asked the server at the previous bar if we had time to make one more drink in this area. The answer was a solid yes, but we were denied at the bar we tried to go to. The bouncer at Shim Sham tried to turn us away, too, but we told him we just wanted one last drink for the night. The bartender said no more beer, so my friend got us 2 picklebacks. I think that was the first time I've had one, and I quite enjoyed it. Not the friendliest last call server, but hey, they did let us come in and get a drink. So 4 stars for them!

The place and atmosphere is great! Great music. HOWEVER, the bartenders suck. It took me like 20 minutes to get a drink. Then my drink had a huge hair in it. So I returned it, the girl bartender gave me half a pour of vodka, I asked for more, she glared and went and told on me. She then came back, poured a splash more, and gave it to me. Honestly I think my hairy drink should have been free. And the hallway to the bathrooms smell like true feces. Update: They didn't charge us for our second round of drinks. May or may not be a mistake, but I'll take it, and thank you.

Came here with my best friend and it was a nice atmosphere. Our bartender was joe and he was so funny. He told us the drink specials and i told him to create something he did on the spot and it was sooooo good! We also told him it was our first time there so he told us where everything was and mentioned where the Dj was. He was just so nice and pleasant. This place is next to the beach but wouldn't let us in for wearing tank tops. Active duty Marines and denied entry for wearing tank tops. No respect for military personnel and a complete hypocrisy because multiple women in the bar were wearing tank tops, double standard. Will never return and I encourage all military personnel not give this disgrace your money.

This place has the worst service... they ignore customers when it is slow and are completely rude, they even took away our food before we finished. It's a shame because the junk bar food is good...but, service sucks so bad I won't be back!

A stop on the Ugly sweater bar crawl... this place was off the chain!! Music was cool and the staff worked their way through the long lines with ease. Craft drink bars are awesome especially this one in Jax Beach. Can't really remembered what I ordered and drank because it was that type of night LOL. Always cool to patronize when I'm in Jax Beach.

So let's talk about how Shim Sham is A Shim Scam , Me, My sister and two of my friends went out for a girls night to relieve some stress to dance and drink, well we decided we wanted to get food as well so we decided to go to The Shim Sham Room , I'm assuming the bartenders thought we was really intoxicated because they charged my sister & my friend $20.43 for a 13$ drink they tried to make my other friend pay for a drink she didn't have & then we order 6 MINI SLIDERS on the menu it said 3$ per mini slider ... now I'm not sure how they got the total they did but it's outrageous. So I ask the bartender how is this even possible and she act like she didn't understand what I was saying or how those prices got on the receipt, and instead of apologizing and say she would fix it , she act like it was my fault she got caught .. then she had a guy that was behind the bar come up and talk to me, The only thing he says is she didn't charge you for the MINI BURGERS that came to a total of $108.00 Each , No apologize, no sorry for the misunderstanding i told him what if we was that intoxicated that we didn't even read the receipt and just gave them the card he said they would have caught it but my thing is you didn't catch this so how certain can you really be that you would have , so I told him we are leaving and he said that's fine thanks for coming in

Something about a guy in suspenders just does it to me. Watching my bartender mix up a mojito with ease. It was like watching an artist paint and do a peep show. I slide the mojito to a friend and tell the bartender I want something with bourbon, whiskey, or ginger beer. I step back from the bar and look up to catch some of the game and ask my friend about her drink. She enjoyed her drink. (She said it was better then the previous spot and has now since lowered her standards for Jacksonville.) I have to agree the same for my drink. I guess I was watching a magic act. I saw the ingredients go in but something was still missing. The crowd around us was getting younger as we got to the bottom of our glasses. When we entered it was an after work type vibe. People just unwinding. In under an hour it toured into sweaty dudes and a guy being asked to leave or be arrested by cops. The guy was blabbering about random mess as he held his smartphone out and recorded the cop. It was a sad site. So girls close to us said that this happened at least once a night. :-/ It's an okay bar for the beaches but not one I would make a habit of visiting.

Horrible! Was trying to finish my beer at 1:40 am and they forced me out, stating that they were closing... when they are supposed to be open until 2am. The staff and employees are horrible!

Holy food !! Wow ! Do not be fooled by the term "bar food" with this place !! The portions and flavors are off the charts ! Our server was Donna and she was sweet and workin her butt off. We arrived party of 8 and she handled the groups drunkenness like a pro! With drinks all around she quickly showed up with a tray of waters then even brought us a pitcher for refills. It was hot and muggy so the pitcher came in handy. We pretty much ordered everything on the menu. I personally had the jalepeno bacon, avocado tomato sandwich with Parmesan tots by Donna's recommendation. It was amazing! The bacon had a real kick and you could tell they take care of that bacon with care! The rest of the table had sliders, tacos, nachos and the queso-dillo which is full of every cheese oh can imagine, Mac and cheese and buffalo chicken! Holy hell my heart it was good ! The prices are cheap but the food is not ! This place is a bar atmosphere so for me the sober gal, I could have enjoyed a more comfortable seat but oh well, it was worth the food !

Great deals! I got a cider for $2 which truly blew my mind (I am from out of town and am learning had beach is incredibly affordable). The bartender Joshua was fantastic at recommending places to go to and also was incredibly helpful! We definitely plan on stopping in again next time we are in the area.

This is my favorite beach bar in Jax. The drinks are cheap and strong! Plus, the atmosphere is fun and welcoming! It's a great bar to go and hangout with friends.

Awesome chicken and waffles. Fried goodness covered w confection. The sliders are worth a try as well.

Went on a Friday night last week and the DJ played Ying Yang Twins - Say I Yi Yi... 5 star quality.

The doorman denied me entry bc I had camo shorts on, on a Thursday, at 9pm, at the beach. I got my friends (5) of them, and walked out. Goodbye 300 dollars to shim sham. Owner of shim sham, please educate your doorman. You lost several hundred dollars in bar bucks tab in 10'seconds. I'm sure your doing fine, but if it were me, I'd want to know about losing several hundred bucks in 10 seconds. That's good money gone. BTW you had maybe 10 people in the bar at that point. On the up side, drinks are usually OK. Tisk tisk, shim sham, tisk tisk. Educate your staff.

My boyfriend and I came for happy hour on a Saturday. It was surprisingly not busy around 4pm, and we were able to get a seat at the bar. The drinks are a range of cocktails, beer/shot combinations, and regular beer & wine. I will say, they are pricey for drinks, so make sure you come here knowing exactly how much you want to spend while drinking. My boyfriend loved the old-fashioneds, and I tried the mai tai and a strawberry/basil drink that the bartender made for me when I asked for a fruity drink. Everything is made with fresh ingredients, and when my boyfriend asked for the old-fashioned recipe, the bartender printed it out for him!

1st timer to this place, went with a group of six...got there around 9:30 and one table left luckily...food we ordered (nachos, Mac n cheese bites, chicken and waffles) were all delicious, drinks were good as well and delivered by our awesome waitress Chelsea! Disclaimer: it is loud as soon as you walk in the door Went upstairs and ended up doing the VIP and glad we did, because by midnight, it was elbow to elbow people and what seemed to be a Frat party, crowd was mostly college aged...music was house techno which left 98 percent of the people standing still on the 10 x 10 dance floor, doubtful I will return for a night out...no A/C could help this place

So grateful for their late night kitchen...... and the tacos though.....mother of all that is holy. SO GOOD Not a bad little spot to get funky late night either....in the past 30 minutes I've heard everything from Prince and Debbie Deb to "Total Eclipse of the Heart." Totally dig it! And Nichole.....she is a beast....quite possibly one of the best bartenders I've seen in my travels.

Been here several times with friends and it's always a good time. The bar is two levels. It has the best of both worlds. Downstairs is where you will find your more lowkey crowd and upstairs is where you will find the wilder ones. However, I recommend getting your drink downstairs because the bartenders tend to be quicker and more available (upstairs gets crowded quick and they only have about 2 bartenders up there). Overall, it's a fun place to go for a night out no matter what type of night you're looking for, but they could use an extra hand or two at the bar at peak hours.

I promise you the shin sham is a waste of time I walked I there around 1030. The drinks were watered down so we left. We came back later in the night in a whim as we entered the club. All my friends got in as did I. I'm 23 the bouncer made a fuss about my ID at the door. I told him bro ask me any question I'll answer it. He let me pass but on my way in I looked back at me and made a face. So I made a face back at him. He came in. I told him , "what's up bro let's do this!" He told me I ya dtonkeave so I followed him out and met the cop at the door. They explained to me that I offend the bouncer and they Needed me to leave became it's a private ownership... while he was in his rights so am I. I wasn't rude your company started it with me. Send the bushy blonde hair bouncer on!

Kyle is the best bartender here!!! I wanted a dessert cocktail that didn't exit to the menu and the man made it happen! Fresh lime with the goose and tonic you can't go wrong! Laddies not a bad look to the eye!!! have a great time with big man Kyle! Get those drinks coming fast and tasty
