Fantastic mall and with toys expo wonderful. Great variety of things to choose from. Tons of kids stuff inside the mall. Rate this place 8.5/10 stars.

The Shoppes at Carlsbad has undergone significant improvements over the past decade, transforming into a vibrant shopping destination. Visitors have noted the mall's cleanliness and the convenience of valet parking. The dining options are diverse, with restaurants offering delicious cocktails and a wide assortment of food. For instance, one reviewer praised a skirt steak Cobb salad they enjoyed during their visit.

Google
There's a few decent shops, more my daughter was interested in than myself. Would be nice if there was a decent coffee shop or even a food court.

Google
First off, the mall is beautiful and quite large. Lots of great stores with wide varieties and awesome sales! There is no food court which i was surprised by but there are a couple of restaurants attached to the mall that appear to offer a great, high quality dining experience. There is also a movie theater attached, so i think it’s safe to say that you can easily spend a whole day here. 🙌😎

Google
Came here to have lunch at one of the restaurants. Mall needs to attract more tenants. Also need a decent food court and some more anchor tenants...

Zara has some nice casual finds, not impressed by the shoes very much. Looking for A plan white T, its here under $15.00. #Shopping on budget (Doggy Back pack -Khol's)

Love this mall been coming for years on and off for most of my retail shopping. Found out there is a mini Bazaar that has been set up for weekend vendors. The mall definitely made some adjustments for those who want diversity and a variety. Fan Fair for the Anime, sports, comics, gaming, trading cards (pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic the Gathering and many more to check out, the biggest collection I saw would have to be the Funko Pops!!! So much to see for children and adults alike. Definitely check it out if you're in the neighborhood on the weekend.

I haven't been to the mall in ages It's pretty quiet in there. It seemed like a lot of the stores were closing early. That might be a staffing thing. The end of the mall by Sears is a little desolate there's not much down there. Even though I entered through a main entrance when I exited it was pretty dark in the parking lot. It's obvious that they've done a lot of revitalizing and added restaurants and Uber lift parking and outdoor seating.

Yelp
This mall has improved significantly over what it was within the last 10 years but I can't help but feel sad over what it used to be like (I'm talking pre-2010). I am a North County native and I used to go to this mall when I was a kid. Back then it was bustling and full of great stores and places to eat. There used to be a sushi buffet that was really good; I still remember coming here to eat with my family one evening when they picked me up from college in Orange County. I remember eating my first Pad Thai with my bestie here. I also remember buying my first designer wristlet (a Dooney and Bourke) at the Macy's here when I got my first big girl job. Now it's just a relic of what it used to be, like most malls these days. It was never a high end mall, but it was a great mall for me! Anyway, back to the actual review of the current mall. It has some of the basic mall stores you usually find like Victoria's Secret, Hot Topic, Spencer's, etc, but it no longer has its anchor department stores like Macys or Sears. JC Penney is still there, but who knows how long they'll last. There are also a bunch of niche stores in here that sell random knick knacks. For some reason the food places don't do very well here. My husband and I went to two different fast food joints on two different visits, but both of them closed at different times! Very sad. We came here on a Saturday recently and it was not crowded at all. We'll try to go here again because there is a Bandai Gashipon store that I like going to, lol.

Yelp
The place has improved very, very nicely! Now that Sears is gone maybe a Bloomingdales or Neiman Marcus will grace us! A lot of great food choices and a nice Theater

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised today stopping by this shopping center. My family and I came by here about 4 months ago and we were so sad to think that this mall was dying off like some of the others we have seen lately. But not today, you could tell by the parking lot that there was going to be a lot of people shopping inside. And there sure was! It was great to see some new businesses pop up, and there was a crowd in just about every store. Even the ninja anime swap meet are was all decked out and almost every store lot was open. We had a cool time drifting the remote cars, not bad for $10 for ten minutes, though the owner really gave us about 15. Thanks to him, he was a cool dude. Happy to see this place alive and well. Not to mention the newly opened Mas Fuego restaurant. We were too full to try it today, but it's now on my list to try next time. If you've been, leave a comment below and tell me about your experience. Thanks

Yelp
Shopping at Sephora is usually a great experience, but not all locations are the same. The Carlsbad store is convenient for me, especially with its easy-to-access entrance outside the mall, so I don't have to navigate through the mall to get there. They carry the products I use, which is a big plus. However, I've noticed that this location frequently runs out of the items I need, which can be frustrating. Additionally, the salesclerks aren't always the most helpful, making the shopping experience less enjoyable than it could be.

Yelp
The Shoppes is definitely improving! Compared to its state of condition several years ago, things are moving in the right direction. It's more lively as a result! Great to see folks out and about, enjoying on a weekend--yet not overly crowded. There are some nice anchor/flagship stores like Texas de Brazil steakhouse, Dave & Busters, Yard House, Regal movie theater and more interesting additions on the way like Tasty Noodle House. Random side note: Massive shout out to the stranger who picked up and returned an item that I hadn't realized fell out of my pocket. Made my day. While not the most amazing, exciting place to visit, a welcome point of interest in the area that's sure to continue improving.

Yelp
Why are the public restrooms always closed now and every bathroom inside the mall is the same excuse that they are broken .. Like every single one come on now.
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice mall with lots of light coming in through the ceiling and nice architecture. The mall is relatively small but still has all typical shops like Hot Topic, Victoria's Secret, H&M, and Torrid, etc., however they have a great selection of restaurants there as well which makes this mall very attractive and worth checking out. I actually wasn't even aware they had a mall in Carlsbad and went there because they have a Luna Grill. I was visiting my mom, so I was not familiar with the area. They also have Cheesecake Factory, Yardhouse, Islands, and others as well. The mall also has a Dave and Busters and a Regal movie theatre. So pretty much, they have just about everything at this mall. Nice area, easy parking, and not very crowded.

Yelp
Hanging out with friends until security comes up to us kicking us out saying we were smoking in the bathroom when we were all clearly sober and had nothing on us and threatened to call the police on us, they said they had video evidence of us smoking but when asked with it we were denied, overall horrible experience this has never happened before to me.

Yelp
This mall is really nice! It was a fun place for us to walk this last winter on the days we were getting a lot of rain. They have a lot of nice stores, restaurants, and things to do at the mall. We love being able to go to Yard House for Happy Hour and Dave & Busters for something fun to do as well.

Yelp
This is probably the most frequent mall that I go to... But it's just because it's close. I'm always disappointed with the mall and my experience. I always get frustrated with the parking. I feel as if the mall staff are not friendly, and it does not feel super clean to me. They do have a decent selection of stores here, such as Macys, Sephora, Victoria Secret, Bath and Body Works, Forever 21, American Eagle, etc. however, I feel like the merchandise in the store is always lacking. I have so much luck when I am shopping at the same stores in other locations, but these ones are just not up to par. I do have to say that they do have a large variety of food places like the cheesecake factory, the Yard House, Luna Grill, and some other newer place is going in. Dave n Busters is always really fun too! I do look forward to trying the spots, but not looking forward to the parking situation.

Khamphone K.

Yelp
This shopping mall is pretty big but really dead. We went on a Thursday morning. The perks of this place is only the Dave Buster, The Cheesecake Factory and Texas De Brazil. Not much stores here. I would not go back again; I wanted to explore this mall and I did lol
google avatar

Henedina L.

Yelp
This mall is pretty for the most part but VERY HOT. It's muggy and then when you go into some stores it's worse. That made me not want to shop as I was uncomfortable. On my way out I stopped at Sephora and it was refreshing. Also the mall has a weird stench to it. Not going out of my way to come back.

Yelp
It was my first time going to the Shoppes at Carlsbad over the weekend. I've lived in SD for a decade and I had never even heard of this mall which I'm surprised because prior to COVID I was a frequent mall-goer. I had passed by this mall over the summer with my friend and I made a mental note to check it out in the future. The mall is pretty simple. It has basic stores like Zara, Sephora, Spencer's, Victoria's Secret, Francesa's, Forever 21 etc. I was shocked to see that they even had an FYE store! I thought all those had closed down! haha They have decent dining options too like Cheesecake Factory, Beshock Ramen, Island's, Panera Bread, and Texas de Brazil. It's kinda sad to see the effects of COVID in additional to the downfall of retail due to online shopping. A pretty big number of stores look like they're closed down for good and there were a lot of vacancies. Nonetheless, I'm still a support of brick and mortar stores and hopefully after COVID settles down we'll see a resurgence in support of retail stores. It would be sad to see this mall shut down.

Yelp
That's a great place to go to just feel like a resort all day. Going from food to entertainment then a little window shopping or actual shopping. When I feel stressed out and need to unwind and a change of decor but don't want to travel far, that's where I go. I takes me away from my daily routine.
google avatar

Yelp
I like this mall for the exact reason why people hate this mall lol. I come here to buy the stuff I need in the shops I want to go, so whether the outside or inside is nice is quite irrelevant. Actually it's great that fewer people come here so I don't have to fight with crowds at the checkout or for the changing rooms! As long as you know where the stuff you need are located at, and whether they still stay open, then you'll get what you need. In fact, because the employees aren't swarmed by customers, they all had been very helpful and welcoming, unlike stores at UTC. I'm a very practical shopper so the facelift progress doesn't really bother me. However, it is tricky to find the entrance. It's the pathway to the left of Regal. Also right now I don't smell anything chemical so it's OK. Most of the renovation is done now. The shops just need to finish their renovation to be ready for reopening. Also it's hard to find bathrooms... where are they!? We had to go to Macy's to pee. So far not bad!

Yelp
The shoppes at Carlsbad is a disaster of a mall. Easily the worst mall in San Diego county. Poor selection of shoppes. Terrible over priced goods. And just a stale "get what you get" kind of place. The restaurants are overpriced mall food This place needs to be demolished and rebuilt into something that north county residents want to go to and not something they have to go to.
google avatar

Skip M.

Yelp
This mall get minus 10 stars for having 1 public bathroom for the whole mall, if you shop here make sure you bring a bag because there is no place to use the bathroom. Probably go to outlets instead?
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
When I moved to the area 2 1/2 years ago this was a dead mall. Someone has poured, what seems to be, a ridiculous amount of money into renovations. Now, instead of 70% of the storefronts being dark and empty, about 80% are open for business again! The mall interior is bright and open and clean. There is even a dynamic restaurant row on the back side of the The Shoppes that has something for any and every taste. It's definitely worth visiting, or revisiting if you been here for a while.

Yelp
About Me: Growing up, I would go with my grandpa to his job sites. He was an architect and designer (he was on the team that built the New Union Station in Downtown LA and I remember when it was just a hole in the ground). That said, I love coming here. Not to shop, but to watch the magic happening. I stop in every few weeks or so, and there's always big noticeable changes to the infrastructure. They are even cracking into the concrete. This is my 2-star mall, but extra stars for getting to witness the facelift. No hard hat required!

Yelp
The Shopps at Carlsbad is a beautiful structured building with nice restaurants and a movie theater. During the pandemic I missed the theater so much but finally got around to seeing some of the summer movies. For restaurants they have Panera bread, Poke, Islands, Ramen, and more. Other than the theater they offer Dave and Buster and Yard house for drinks and entertainment. Only reason I'm subtracting a star is because the inside portion of the mall has much unused potential. I hope an entrepreneur thinks of a great idea for malls that will be Amazon proof but regardless this mall meets my entertainment needs.

Yelp
Well right now this mall is being remodeled so it looks a mess. I'm sure once everything is done this place will look wonderful. Hopefully there will be some nice stores for men like Jack Black and The Art of Shaving. So right now I have to give them 3.5 because I know they have a lot of work to do. Some of my favorite stores are Cinnabun and Macy's but hopefully I'll be able to add more to my list. The stores that are here now are just plain Jane in my opinion. I can't wait to see what the new mall looks like because there needs to be some nice options for shopping here in this area.
google avatar

Lisa K.

Yelp
I'm super excited that this mall has a face lift. It's been sad over the years to watch malls closing and shops going under. Now, the shoppes is thriving with new restaurants, a movie theatre, clothing shops for the young and old and a play center in the middle of the mall for the little tikes. I've only had a chance to visit Macy's, Nordstrom's Windsor and a few other cute stores. I am making it my mission to visit as many as I possibly can as well as eat at each and everyone of the restaurants. And the movie theatre is on my date night list. More to come peeps!! Look out, Lisa is on a mission!

Yelp
This review is based on my visit to the The Shoppes of Carlsbad administrative office. I never noticed the office which is located next to the Sweet Shop downstairs. The reason for my visit was that I had won a GC to one of the restaurants located in the mall. I went last week during the hours mentioned to pick up the card and was informed that the card wasn't available for pick up. Alandra apologized and asked if I could return in a hour for the GC which didn't work for my schedule. The same day I received a voicemail as well as an e-mail from Ken, apologizing for the GC not being ready. He too admitted it was his mistake and once again apologized. Ken mentioned that the card was ready and that if there were any concerns to call his direct number that he left. There is nothing like excellent customer service! Thank you Alandra and Ken for that exact customer service, EXCELLENT! Yes, I screamed it ;)

Yelp
Well, this has been my least favorite mall of all of North County. The good news is they are doing some remodeling so hopefully that will clean out many of the outdated shops and restore it to a modern day look. What I do like about the mall is the movie theatre. They have a really nice Regal movie theatre with assigned seating and reclining seats. I can also appreciate the adjacent restaurants such as Panera, Peet's Coffee and Luna Grill. As far as shopping goes. Macy's is always a classic but many of their other shops are,"meh." I'm hoping the new remodel brings in some more desirable venues to shop at.
google avatar

Eddie B.

Yelp
Decent mall which decent selections. Unfortunately, 80% of the shops do not apply to me as they are more tailored to women's fashion. Never the less, they have a great play place for my son which he loves and ample food selections outside of the mall... I do have a concern though... Why didn't they make entrances to these restaurants inside the mall???.... Again, good mall to go visit
google avatar

Marc K.

Yelp
It is still under construction but the new owners have done a great job turning this mass around. It used to be a dirty eye sore that people tended to avoid. Now they converted the drab exterior white walls to vibrant store fronts, eateries and hang out areas. They brought in 24hr fitness and even a movie theater. They also have done a great job attracting a number of popular restaurants including Dave n Busters, Cheesecake Factory and Yard House. They don't have quite the canvas as UTC, but they are definitely trying to improve the open/hangout space and the esthetics of the mall. So far I would say it is a dramatic improvement.
google avatar

Yelp
"Wow", is all I can say at the renovations going on here. Slowly, this transformation is unveiling beautifully! I'm really happy. I've avoided this mall for years and years, it didn't seem safe and was old and dumpy. Now, I'm finding myself there more often than not. It's also nice to go to the restaurants without having to walk inside, wondering if you parked in a strategic enough place. One thing I don't like: Today I went to H&M with my son - huge store by the way! When I walked to the bathroom just outside the store entrance it seemed a little scary. Maybe because it was a Monday and not many were there. There's a long hallway you walk down, then you go in a door which closes behind you. Although the bathroom itself is clean and pretty, I thought, 'if someone were to follow me in here and the door closed, no-one would hear if I screamed'. It was a little unsettling. Hopefully they'll change this. Otherwise, I'm happy with the changes so far. Can't wait to see what the next year brings.

Yelp
My kids love going to this mall to visit the play area. Well, after today I am not sure how often I will be going. My 4 year old son's left shoe got stuck in the escalator. He was frantically trying to free his foot before we got to the bottom. Once I forcefully yanked his shoe out, I sat him down to calm him down. I called the mall and was connected with security. I asked them to help me provide first aid. Two personnel came quickly. They were very nice. One of the individuals asked for my son's name, age, my name, and my phone number. She wrote it down on a small notepad. The other individual administered first aid (antibacterial ointment and band-aids). When all was finished, I asked security what I should expect in terms of paperwork or a follow-up. One of the security staff said there would be none. I am surprised that there was no protocol. I know that paramedics did not need to be involved and that my son was not badly physically injured; however, my son is traumatized. He was shaking violently when I sat him down to check his foot. How could there be no protocol? It all happened so quickly but I learned my lesson. No, this was not a freak accident but it very well could have been. It is my job as their mother to protect them and my son's foot was badly scraped today. It upsets me but there is nothing more I can do for my son. I calmed him down. I called mall security and asked for first aid. I will continue to tend to my son's wounds until he is 100%. I write this review to educate other families so that this does not happen to them. Please be careful with your children on the escalators here. I was careful and this still happened. Yes, there is a warning sign right before you get on to the escalator and one of the warnings asks you to stay away from the side. My son was not close to the side. I guess we have to be extra cautious in the future. I give this place 2 stars because the personnel responded quickly and were very courteous.

Yelp
I went to the new store at The Shoppes in Carlsbad called The NinjaXchange Collectibles. It is where the old Sears use to be. I'm very glad busineses are coming back after covid, and esp utilizing good space that was once Sears. It's great to see this store with so many great toys and collectibles for sale. I live nearby, and will be visiting the mall more often! Great to get something for yourself or others, or just walk around inside to see all cool collectibles for sale. Spoke with some of the vendors and they were really cool knowing a lot about their products and genuinely enjoying talking about different franchises like Marvel, Star Wars and more. I believe they just opened recently and soon will have more vendors settled in at over there. I understand they plan to host different events sometimes so def a place to follow and check out.

Yelp
Hey wait a second, wasn't this a Westfield mall? This is a pretty sad mall, but you know what? It's a mall located in Carlsbad! So anytime Carlsbad gets knocked down a peg or two it's worth at least a few stars. I'm trying to think of a mall that's similar to this one, perhaps something in San Bernadino or Riverside. There's a bunch of empty retail spaces here but what they do have in abundance are mall jewelry stores. Fun thing to do - In Macy's take the elevator to the 3rd floor. It's the bathroom and business offices. Weird! Nice seats in the lounge up there. Anything positive? They do have a Luna Grill and a Peet's coffee. Dave and Busters opening soon ( which I don't care for anyway ).
google avatar

Andy C.

Yelp
I'm happy that most of the mall is done through the remodel and has completely changed over to be the new, The Shoppes at Carlsbad. The newest additions of Cheesecake Factory, Lucha Libre, Yard House and more new restaurants to come are amazing and such a nice touch to the newly remodel shopping mall. Coming from the old to what the mall is now has been a major change! The one thing that I do wish for is that the mall just update their stores. I love the newest additions of Zara, White Barn and H&M, but a lot of the older stores just don't mix well with the new look and have got to go!
google avatar

Cara B.

Yelp
i went with my boyfriend and had a pretty decent time, but something about that stupid train irritates me. we walked from FYE to the escalators by surf city and the train driver kept honking his horn at us the entire time even though we moved out of his way so many times and switched walkways to get out of his way. it happened so much that i honestly thought he was TRYING to run us over. not a fun experience and not many kids were even on the train. also, why drive the train in the busiest areas??? take it somewhere where nobody goes like all those empty units.

Zack M.

Yelp
Mall had a remodel for pretty much the whole mall (give or take certain stores), it was busy and booming before hand. But now ? It's rare to see busy. It' has so many empty spots. Very little selection of food, unless you want restaurants. No food court (like Escondido and Temecula and most malls) . The mall was better before the remodel. Upside quite a few bathrooms for the public. Down side finding may be hard for some. Over all wouldn't recommend, unless you like a dead mall with at least dozen empty spots for stores and restaurants.
google avatar

Arnel D.

Yelp
I'm old enough to know what this place has been and realize when all the renovation is done, how nice this will be. There's tons of construction going on and a few empty spots. I can't believe the owners decided to keep this place open during construction as it seems pretty unsafe. Breathing on the first floor is bad as it is very dusty with all the work taking place. The stores that are actually open, probably don't get too much business as it seems to be a hassle to get in and out of from the parking lot. I'm sure this place will eventually turn out to be great but until then, I advise to stay away. I miss the old clock that was in the main atrium...
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
This mall is up and coming but where can I refill my water bottle. I tried 4 places all being told they won't do it. So you have to buy water and contribute to plastic waste. Couldn't even find a water fountain anywhere. Not the best mall.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
This mall reminds me of a mall in a town I grew up in, the Billerica mall in MA. It is outdated, kind of a ghost town and needs a serious facelift. However, I am a fan of the restaurants they put in here and they have The Cheesecake Factory coming soon! Who doesn't love cheesecake, right? There's also a Dave and Buster's now as well, so they are trying to make improvements. I just saw the other day that they are adding more stores and shops coming soon in 2018. We'll wait and see, but in the meantime, just go to the Dave and Buster's and avoid the eyesore in the meantime.
google avatar

Anjel B.

Yelp
Love it .... the name is dumb of course, but the whole place is nice ... I always enjoy coming here to eat drink shop or watch a movie - and they even have music outside on the curb (and comfy resort seating) where you can have your cocktails - perfect. ps. I had to get help from their security after my steering sudden locked and I could not leave, after a late night movie. I needed to leave my car there overnight. MAGGIE REYES and her security crew were most helpful. No problems with them THANK YOU.
google avatar

Alyson Lei M.

Yelp
Not the best mall, but it's a work in progress. It has my regular "go to" stores such as Q, Shoe Palace, Footlocker, Vans, H&M, Zara, VS, Hot Topic, Sephora (in JCPenny), etc. There's a little play area on the first level right by the elevators where we let our kids play for a little. There's not an actual food court, but they do have places to eat like Great Khan's, Lucha Libre, Yard House, Panera. They also have Wetzel's Pretzels in a couple spots. Good mall to visit and kill time. I'll probably be in more often once they actually open up the Sephora that's not in JCPenny.
google avatar

Greg B.

Yelp
When Westfield Co sold it and the new company came in I thought this will be the end. Surprisingly, after multi-year renovations it's thriving again. With 3 anchor stores - Sears lately is in trouble, JC Penny still afloat and only Macy's doing OK, but there are many new stores - H&M, Victoria's Secret, Forever 21 and variety of the small stores on the mall. There is no food court, but the selection is great with Cheesecake Factory, Yard House, Texas de Brazil, Lucha Libre & Woksano plus many others. Regal Cinema is next door. Saturday & Sunday are the busiest days with all of the Oceanside (including the marines from the Camp Pendleton) are here.
google avatar

Teresa T.

Yelp
This mall is trying to move up in the world! New stores new look. I know it's going to take time for it to be where it wants to be. They took out s lot of the favorite food places and stores that should have stayed and out in store that take up loads of space and that I feel like are way to expensive for the average shopper in this area. It's a true bummer. They have been some complaints from those of us who have been coming to this mall longer that some of the stores that have been around. But again this mall is moving upward and it's becoming something that I think will be nice in the future
google avatar

Bridgette G.

Yelp
The Mall update is looking & functioning much better! The Cheesecake Factory, Regal 12 & the Gym definitely has the parking lot much fuller! Was cool to see so many out n about on a Wed night (last night) ! Currently The Santa and a new play area for the kids is coming along nicely!

Yelp
Worst. Mall. Ever. Not sure what has happened to this place but wow. I haven't been here since the renovations started and it just made me speechless at how horrible it was. The outside looks really nice, and it makes you want to come in. But then once you're in its a ghost town...the most depressing mall I've ever been to. More than half the stores are closed. I'd say only 25% are still up and running. The renovations have just ruined this place, it was completely empty and there wasn't any stores open that I would shop at. The smell in there was unbearable, and the ceiling, pipes, etc were completely visible. Overall they need to really finish up ASAP otherwise there going to loose so many customers coming to this mall. After this visit there's no way I'd return, what's the point when there's hardly any stores open?

Yelp
Wow, What scammers at the Santa Clause display. "No personal pictures !" Omg they wouldn't let me take a picture with Santa... they tried to force feed me one of their crappy pictures . What is this world coming to ? I am super disappointed. Even their sign says "photos with santa "

Yelp
This mall has really come through. Just a little over a year ago, it was endearingly referred to as "murder mall", so we would usually just avoid it entirely. In recent months though, a ton of restaurants and shops have been added and the movie theatre there is now our go-to. The mall interior has finally been remodeled and that swampy stench that once lingered is remarkably gone. I stopped in last night and was pleasantly surprised. Some of my favorite stores are now in there; H&M, Forever 21 (just opened), Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body, and the Sephora in JC Penny is a decent option for now too. The playground has been remodeled as well, with modern equipment and lounge styled seating. They've also added a large, tropical fish tank adjacent to the playground, so now you can longingly gaze as you contemplate all of those impulse purchases, and tune out all of those feisty, screaming children. Brilliant. The play area is centrally located on the bottom floor as well, so there's definitely no avoiding it (just a warning to my fellow parents.) In seriousness though, my kids love it and I can never seem to give them enough countdown time to leave. All in all, I give three stars for now as there's still a way to go. There's a few outdoor restaurant options surrounding the upper area of the mall, but the inside could really use a food court. There's still a lot of empty space and more variety of stores is needed. And a coffee shop. By the playground would be genius. Just sayin. But bravo so far, Shoppes of Carlsbad.

Yelp
I'm laughing at the five star reviews since they added a couple chain restaurants.... I'd day 2 maybe 3 is pushing it but this mall is not worth a five star experience. Entertaining to say the least.... I've known this place for 40 years and it was a 3 star back in 1992....

Yelp
I brought my 3 year old granddaughter so she could specifically play the Ducky claw machine on the second floor, We found it had a printed sign that said Turtles" and so few, that it was impossible to grab one. Better to close it instead.

Yelp
Going along with all the other reviews to say this mall is pretty crappy and depressing. Not one store we like, very dark and run down, empty and just dated. In dire need of a major upgrade or just needs to be shut down, not worth the stop.

Yelp
What used to be an old and outdated mall is transforming into one of the best shopping centers in north county! I live very close to The Shoppes and I come here at least 5 times a week. The 24 hour fitness is the newest one in North County SD and is kept super clean. The Regal movie theatre is also the newest and nicest up here. You can't beat Yard House happy hour or ANY poke bowl at Grubbys. The Zara and H&M (where I buy most of my clothes) are huge for a mall and have a large selection. There's also an Islands, Cheesecake Factory, Dave & Busters and large indoor, ocean themed play area for kids that my niece loves! :)
