Delay for Bobby Mao’s at the Galleria at Sunset - Eater Vegas

Lots of people in shopping mode while I was there. Adult, child, and dog friendly environment! Security is an A+. Very mellow for the time being. Benches dispersed throughout and very helpful to the handicapped or even just for in between shopping breaks. Plenty of stores to choose from. Cleaning and maintenance is great. Decor and plants are to my liking. The food court was not that special to my liking, but very well maintained.

In Palm Desert, this shopping center has a little over 100 Stores. However, 8 years ago it had 150 + stores & people were finding out a way to get in the building & lease a space. Westfield changing its name, & COVID is what I personally think has affected the market for store owners at the mall in order to remain with a financial sustainability and for them to have profitability as well. People simply stopped going to the mall. Many stores & companies survived but again how long have they been there? 24+ years, like Sears and JC Penny or Hollister for 10 years , despite them being multimillion dollar companies .. How did Dog on a stick survive the pandemic & McDonald's right next to it didn't ? (Personally I would have rooted more for McDonald's yet again didn't graduate in an economics major either). It all comes down to their rightful owner in the decision making of sustaining through tough times I can only think. 🛍️Food for thought .. while for many disappeared companies because of the inflation & the pandemic let alone why is it still empty two years later & in the making supposedly? 💡 I enjoy getting a shake at Cold Stone here & there after visiting the Local Shops that have survived multiple financial crisis waves throughout the span of 24 years when Westfield first acquired the property, perhaps inclusively before. City Wok is another place I visit when here. 🌬️ A/C is fully functional under the current management team, it might look dead empty 87% of the times but it has clean floors & remodeled ceilings as well as properly maintained restrooms, common areas etc. They have a children's play bin area, parking is substantially efficient there being plenty ⛹🏼‍♂️. A couple arcades in the middle of the walkway to entertain yourself while you finish sipping on your shake 🥤or perhaps finish eating your pretzel from Cinnabon 🥨. ⭐⭐⭐ 3 stars from my perspective, a lot of work left behind & plenty of space that could have been utilized in these 8+ years. Boredom is the kind of mental state that will get you here in the first place. Unless you actually think that purchasing your chonitos (underwear) 👙 at Victoria Secret personally makes a difference when you get even greater discounts online with better prices rather than walking into the store & willingly bend over 😉. Just like going to Shoe Palace for the latest model of Nike Jordans when you can get a better deal online versus walking in the store & yet have the need to bend yourself over & hand off your wallet.. you get the picture 📸. Safe shopping 🛍️😺.

It's been many years since I've been inside this facility and you know ever since the ice rink went away it's never really been the same, and now it's just... here. I'm not going to rip on it cuz everybody's different. I saw nothing memorable that will bring me back. That's all.

Went to dinner at Stuft Pizza. The Greek style pizza hit the spot. One of my favorites. Several questions from the surrounding tables asked what I had ordered.

Google
The weather there was magnificent! The people or so friendly and kind! I was there on vacation and all the time I had spent their I wished I could live there everyday of my life. There is truly something special about Palm Desert that words couldn't simply describe. There is a certain atmosphere that it encompasses. Truly one of a kind place and if I could find a new job and move out there I would do it almost instantaneously!

Google
Haven't been there in years audits still the same place jt always was......quiet and not fun at all anymore so! But they did a good job 9on the remodel after Westfield bought the mall!! It was cool tho bringing back alot of bad memories and a real nasty taste in my mouth! Lmao. Its a good spot to shop still and get away from the riff raff and the days cares!! Lol have a great day all!!

Lovely shopping center. Very clean, a nice selection of stores, obviously well managed. Enjoyed riding the escalator!

First time visiting. Went on a Sunday afternoon. Shopped at a lot of the stores which I was very impressed with. The only issue I have with this mall is their food court, we ate at 3 different restaurants inside the mall & they were all expensive and the food was bland. Most especially aunty Anne’s & Charley’s that took 25mins to serve up 2kids meal. I’ll definitely not be going back to the food court again. Other than the terrible services at the food court, the stores within the mall are clean & fully stocked.

Yelp
The mall was nothing special but the family lounge is very nice. It's a place for young families who might need a space for breastfeeding or chestfeeding.

Yelp
I had a problem with the Holister store here. I was upset, I bought something I liked and tried to do a return. I feel their selection is pretty good. I do come here quite often. The store is downstairs, and they have good deals. I like the pink store across the way, but the holister store wouldn't do a simple return. I feel the service here is lacking and could be much better.
google avatar

Lynn D.

Yelp
I bought a pair of shoes here, unworn, still new - it was the place upstairs, across from the food court. The guy working here was a complete d***k. The service could have been better. Shouldn't have had to go through hell for a simple exchange.

Yelp
Not a bad mall. Layout is a typical mall in the US. Huge selections of stores and we found everything we wanted at good prices for the kids. Nothing fancy but if your looking for utility this is the perfect place. They also have covered parking which is important during the summer. It's also an indoor mall which was the most important reason for us to come here during the summer - getting out of the heat.
google avatar

Britney M.

Yelp
This mall is pretty average. They have the typical stores that the Westfields usually have. Actually this one might not have any many as the others. I don't know if it was just me, but I felt a bit disappointed with this mall. Since there isn't a lot of malls in the area, I was hoping this one would be better. In terms of affordable shopping in the area, this would be the place. There's another shopping area down El Paseo but that is not the affordable shopping area lol Westfield Palm Desert has some of the standard stores like Victoria Secret, Vans and the food court. We also went to the food court to see what options they had. Just so-so there as well, nothing spectacular. But it's a food court so expectations should be relatively low if we are staying grounded in reality lol Overall, this is an okay mall.

Yelp
This mall is run down and management do a poor job of maintaining the common areas or making this place appealing to tourists and seasonal residents. Coachella Valley is more than just its local residents. The desert survives on tourism - this mall is the last place on a tourist agenda! Real estate is expensive to maintain but with so many tenants losing their appeal and more and more keep moving out or going out of business the mall looks and feels like a ghost town. Hot sticky ghost town - the AC is stale and stores are barely cool. Some mechanical and electrical investments are definitely needed. I get that malls cost money to operate but tenants pay the bills- therefore bring in new tenants and be aggressive with them. What is this owner of this mall doing to drive customers to it? Who is the owner since Westfield gave up - JJL? Where is Simon Malls, or Caruso from LA? Malls such Del Amo, The Beverly Connection, UTC San Diego - all malls that made investment and brought in new tenants. This mall needs a new owner, asap otherwise it will go out of business like the malls from the 80's and 90's that did nothing to modernize. It needs dining options - and not QSR's - legit restaurants such at Din Thai Fung, North Italia, True Foods, etc. It needs entertainment - not bouncy houses or trampolines for kids! Kids don't shop at Malls - adults do and bring the kids with them. Another example - Open a "Comedy" venue for local and national artists as well as musical artists and evening entertainment. Macys is the owner of Bloomingdale's! We need a major retailer like Bloomingdale's or Nordstrom to take over the old Sears space. The mall management company needs to Stop thinking local and think global (beyond Coachella Valley). local economy is supported by tourism. Offer cheap rent to get big tenants - the foot traffic will pay off long term once tenants realize the value of the mall. The mall can be a great destination in the summer months - assuming you fix the AC. Get customers in to experience the shopping and dinning and out of the heat. Outside of summer the tourists will shop and drive revenue. Today there is no compelling or exciting reason to visit this location. Just like The River (don't get me started on that mess) it's needs an aggressive push to tenants outside of the Valley. Time to maybe shop for a new broker too. Start the push and investment now - Get ahead of the Cortino development and build brand awareness. Good luck!!

Yelp
This whole mall is a bad joke. I don't think I've ever been to a mall that's quite literally in ruins. There is one escalator in the entire mall that actually works, in order to get to the food court or find any way to get upstairs you have to walk clear to the other side of the building. Speaking of the building it is literally in shambles. Everything is broken and it all looks disgustingly, dirty, and run down. The whole mall looks like it has been abandoned. On top of that local residents have basically been priced out of the mall. Every old store that was beloved that goes out of business is replaced with a new store that charges $30 for keychains. The mall doesn't even seem to support its own stores with several large advertisements for things at other malls and in other shopping centers. The movie theater attached to the mall doesn't seem to be in business. I don't think I have ever seen it open once or ever seen anyone go into it. Everyone I ask about it says that they've never been to it, and it has a reputation of playing old movies, and not keeping up to date with recent releases. Considering other malls really thrive through their theaters. I am surprised to see that this mall takes so little care of theirs. The mall employees are also clueless and unhelpful, anybody who wears a Westfield badge on their shirt, will know less about the mall than any random other customer walking by you. On more than one occasion I've had the mall staff be completely unable to answer any of my questions, and then had someone who had been shopping answer my questions for me and basically take over while the Westfield employee disappeared into thin air... AVOID THIS MALL. There are other malls nearby that are significantly better.

Yelp
Sucks has a few nice store but only one set of escalators that work other set is broke Down and the Elevator doesn't work, so businesses on the second floor can't be reached wtf

Yelp
It's a mall. And walking through felt like a time travel. I do most of my shopping online (the pandemic helped with that!), but thought I'd go inside and see. Very crowded (to be expected at this time of year). Not a lot of stores. But just enough that it made the drive worth it. Every store had really friendly employees--especially Macy's underground and Torrid. Will come back!

Gemma M.

Yelp
What a sad place it's become. I spend most of my shopping time in Macy's, thank God for that store (and a few of the others), but today I spent some time walking through the Palm Desert mall. So tired looking, lots of empty spaces where shops used to be, escalator at East end out of order as it seems to always be. Elevator was also out of order. Had to walk all the way to JCPenney's, clear down at the other end to use their escalator to go to lower level. Food court half empty of stores. Depressing. Lack of variety of (what's left of) stores. Some of remaining businesses open only limited hours not coinciding with Mall hours. Movie theaters long gone. Really a shame considering that HOT weather is coming and for many, the mall has been a refuge and a welcoming spot to hang out. Should be called The Lack of Shops at Palm Desert

K A.

Yelp
I am so disappointed in the current quality of the underware and bra selection. My brand new $60 bra broke in the front, and the past few times I've bought panties, they've fallen apart. I'm so bummed. I used to love this store. I would not recommend the product after my experience.

Saki Y.

Yelp
I was in Miniso the other day just browsing and I wanted to ask the cashier if they had a particular item in stock, but I couldn't hear them over the loud music. I was very unhappy because I had to resort to texting on my phone to get my question answered. If they could turn down the music in Miniso it would be greatly appreciated just so we can hear the workers and get the help we need.

Yelp
Nice mall... It's just that there are many openings... Was management too greedy with leasing costs? IDeK... I do know that they have many stores that I do like. The environment & cool temp are nice. Probably going to need to address wear on some seat cushions in the food court in the near future... Otherwise, seems like everything else is in good order...
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
Good indoor shopping center to walk around and get exercise. Food court is the best feature of the mall with a good variety of food.

David W.

Yelp
This mall i swear i dont know how the shops stay in buisness ??? 3 broken escsalators all at once !!! How do i get up to the food court you have to walk all the way to the other end or try to find an elevator ( good luck with that !!! ) i think id rather just drive to the outlet shops at least there you know whats up .

Yelp
Well clearly with Malls DYING in this country this mall has managed to stay significant enough and provide enough stores for people to still want to actually come to the Mall. I have read a few reviews about the parking...we had no issues...and to be honest if you can park in the shade in Palm Desert California...you should thank GOD for that. There are plenty of stores for whatever you're looking for however I was surprised that Barnes and Noble were still doing so well and hiring in fact. Many of the Barnes and Noble stores have closed around the country but I guess since there is no real book store in Palm Desert this place will more than suffice. I was a little disappointed that I had to access DXL (one of my favorite stores) from outside the mall however I was not impressed with it at all. I really miss casual male they were so much better. So needless to say when I am in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area again I will definitely stop in to visit. Eat, Drink, and be Merry, my Friends!!!!!
google avatar

Rob C.

Yelp
Sad to see what this place has become. Total ghost town.. tumbleweeds blow by the endless shut down stores. Miss the yellow brick road, ice rink and floor less food court. Yes, I am dating myself a long way back here, but those were great times. It's looking more and more like the mall in Indio now.. What a shame On a good note.. The vans store has some very nice (and beautiful) CSR's!!
google avatar

Dave B.

Yelp
I like going to the movies. This place has a great selection, and huge theaters (a least the one we were in, anyway), but it was largely deserted. Desert humor. What? The parking is a bit of chaos, but if you're limber, you'll make it into the theater. Glad it was winter. Would be brutal in the summer. I may be back there, but it definitely wasn't a fav.
google avatar

Samir H.

Yelp
This mall has to be one of my favorite malls that I have ever been to. I just love how everything is so organized here and the service is just fast everywhere. The stores themselves are all very nice and there's always a great variety of things to buy. I just love this place and it's a mall that I will always cherish and come to visit whenever I have the chance. I'd highly recommend this mall to anyone in the Coachella Valley.
google avatar

Yvonne P.

Yelp
Don't know what everyone is complaining about. Considering the pandemic we are in I think the mall is clean and great parking. The sales people are friendly and there are plenty of stores open. Thanks for the shopping if you don't like the mall stay home.

Rod F.

Yelp
Second time I came to the mall with my electric vehicle and could not charge it. Pickup truck and Sedan were parked in the charge station spots by Macys. Don't they give tickets or tow cars that violate rules? Also, charging stations by JC Penney have been broken for months. Took at least a month just to get an out of order sign so you don't waist your time trying.
google avatar

Nijole T.

Yelp
This is the largest indoor mall in the Palm Springs area and usually I like Westfield malls, but this one really only had your basic mall stores, everything high end can be found a mile down the road on El Paseo. For being an older mall, it was bright and clean, not too busy and plenty of parking. Ok, but not worth going out of your way for.
google avatar

Nico S.

Yelp
Clean. Great stores. Better then most Westfield's malls. Very nice location. Peaceful.
google avatar

Jacob D.

Yelp
Pretty small indoor mall. Was shoe shopping but did not want an outdoor nor outlet mall due to the heat. Was not crowded being a Saturday and back to school shopping so that was a plus.
google avatar

Roderick B.

Yelp
Since I was young I have always enjoyed going to the Weatfield mall. From shopping for new clothes, to having a nice lunch with some friends. There's plenty to do. Macy's is my go to for clothing and fragrance. They have very fair prices and a large selection of signature clothing. I am always given exceptional service whenever I go to Mrs. Fields bakery, the cookies are always fresh and taste amazing. Gamestop has always been a childhood favorite of mine, even if I'm only passing through to look, I'm always treated with respect by the employees, and they make sure that I don't have any unanswered questions. There is always something new to do at the Westfield mall, it's definitely one of the most iconic locations in Palm Desert.
google avatar

Erin H.

Yelp
First, this place is ENORMOUS. Second, the parking is a nightmare. I stopped here multiple times in January to pick up incidentals, grab a bite to eat, and pick up camping eats at the Dick's Sporting Goods store. It's pretty crowded -- and I was doing my shopping at very random times of the week, so I can only imagine how packed this place is during the weekend! For those who are from out of town, like me, you'll likely find the idea of valley parking at a mall rather frustrating. But after spending 10 minutes driving around looking for a parking space among the one-way lanes and ridiculously designed spaces closest to the entryways, you'll gladly pay someone else to take your car and deal with parking for you.
google avatar

C. N.

Yelp
Stores are still closed. Some open. Mask wearing is enforced and sanitizing stations are throughout the whole mall. Only issue was the escalator was broken going up.
google avatar

Feskeli G.

Yelp
We came here when my niece forgot her pjs, so quick stop to crazy 8s for a pj run. On our journey to the store we cruised through Westfield Palm Desert Mall in the crazy heat at 6pm. My god was it hot! So you could imagine my delight when walking through the mall with Ac hitting my face. Lets talk about the mall, its pretty good size, with the usual stores of Barnes and Nobles, Victoria Secrets, Pink, Crazy 8, food court similar to Mission Viejo Mall. The one thing I noticed was the it was empty!! Maybe because it was a friday at 6pm? Or the heat?! Not sure but that stood out. Props to Anna at Crazy 8 and her manager for helping my sis find pjs for my niece. They were super helpful and professional. Thank you.

Blake P.

Yelp
The Westfield Mall is full of rudest people who will make fun you in front of your face. One woman in a white shirt with light brown hair is mocking people for no reason at the lower floor. There is another woman with brown hair with a red color who makes fun of people outside the mall. Do NOT go to Westfield Mall in Palm Desert.

David P.

Yelp
Store employees wear masks. The majority of customers do also. But there are a few visitors who do not wear any covering over their noses and mouths. We have no idea what merchandize these people touch, cough on, etc. I looked forward to returning to the fun of shopping at the mall in person. However, because of irresponsible individuals, who are likely not taking any precautions even outside the mall, they put themselves and others at risk. It's not worth it. Westfield should adopt the practice of other stores and stop people at the entrance who are not wearing a mask.
google avatar

Martin L.

Yelp
The Mall opened in1985 I helpd move the clothing racks in the Broadway when they opened their ,does anyone remember the Broadway? Anyway used to have ice skating rink and a food court above it you could look down and see people skating they played nice classical music it was quiet clean and comfortable Fast forward 2017 it is a g****o!
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
It's a nice little mall. I was out in California and needed to do a little shopping with my daughter-neither of us packed enough and needed a couple of items...I don't know what I expected when we came across this place, but it's certainly a perfectly acceptable place to shop. The Dick's Sporting Goods store here was a little small, but had exactly what I was looking for (a couple golf shirts) and on sale too! I can't say we hit every store (we didn't-not even close), but it was convenient, clean, safe, and we had an overall good experience. I've read over some of the super-negative reviews, and while I didn't have similar experiences (a-I know how to say NO to solicitors, b- if a vape sales rep blew smoke in my face they'd be picking up their teeth, and c-I don't mind that the mall uses 'every square inch for making money' since that's what they are supposed to do), I certainly understand the frustration. That said, we were in and out easily (parking is fine) and we were happy with our walk in the air-conditioning on a VERY hot day.

Kat K.

Yelp
I was hoping the mall hours had been expanded for the Christmas 2021 holiday season from the measly 11am-7pm. What disappointment when checking the website and with less than one week before Christmas it appears they are still on regular hours and haven't expanded for the holiday season. It's no wonder Weisfield Mall filed bankruptcy. With these reduced hours patrons are forced to shop elsewhere. Had hope the reduced hours would have changed once Covid had decreased, (prior to omicro), but they never changed and obviously have no intention to. Sorry merchants, but you've brought this upon yourselves.
google avatar

Emm F.

Yelp
My kids sometimes come here after school with their friends. There are plenty of stores there, despite all of the recent store closings, and lots of browsing available. My daughter says the clothing stores are a bit pricey. The Barnes and Noble bookstore is a great place to spend some time shopping and enjoying Starbucks coffee. For the food court, I really like their choices. There are both well known and some unknown fast food restaurants chains there but the food is always pretty good, for a mall. So, I rounded up from 3.5 stars because the kids say "it's never boring".

Shelley W.

Yelp
The mall is very dirty and run down. Won't be returning. Lots of stores but very old and didn't expect this.
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
Hey Westfield Management, get a grip on the kiosks and other pushy sales people. I try to shop local, but will spend my money online if it means I won't be harassed by no less than 6 vendors. Feels like when I visit Ensenada and everyone is pushing their handmade wares on the tourists. It's not enjoyable.
google avatar

Jim S.

Yelp
Have all malls become sad relics? Most of the stores are bored and boring. Nothing that screams "Come shop inside." Generic Muzak echoes through two stories of same-thing-as-the-next one storefronts. The only thing this one has going for it is air conditioning on a 107° afternoon. The Hallmark store (remember those) was busy putting up their Christmas display. It's July 11th. I guess Hallmark is revealing its 2017 Christmas collectible items next week. Yawn.
google avatar

Jose A.

Yelp
They don't have the return policy print on the receipt. Their policy is in the counter facing them so the guest never get to see it. The cashier... Jade try to tell me that she could not take it as it was two weeks since my purchase but here are receipts. It has only been 12 days. None of the managers ( Amanda or Tamy )came to explain why I wasn't able to return the earrings. They are in the original package unworn. I left the earrings in the counter to prove a point. It is not about the money, it was about been treated with respect. I will never buy with this company ever again.

Martha S.

Yelp
Pretty sad. This has become an eyesore to the community. Isn't worth your time. No good stores and low inventory for shopping. Too bad.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
Our mall has improved over the last two decades. From being close to dieing, to a bustling hub of weekend activity now. Hubby and I stopped in today to look for clothing to wear to a wedding. I didn't find what I was lookingvfor, but did find some higher end cosmetics I didn't know I needed. The mall was pretty crowded, and the food court and restrooms were jam packed. On a warm spring day, coming to the mall to walk around and shop or people watch is a nice break from the desert sun.
google avatar

Kristin Leigh M.

Yelp
The. Only. Traditional. Mall. In. The. Desert. Now that we have that out of the way, that's why I am giving this mall four stars. If you were to stick this mall back home in Orange County, three stars. But given its locale, four stars it is. This mall has all of your staples, everything that you would need. I believe its anchored by Macy's and Sears (Macy's had some great jewelry sales on when I was there), and has your array of entertainment, apparel, and sports stores. What I found interesting: this mall caters to the younger side of the desert (young adults and teens), yet it's in Palm Desert. I'd expect that they would have stores to cater to the vast age group that the Coachella Valley targets? Just a thought. Or maybe they're all rolling in the bucks and hitting up El Paseo.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
The Chinese massage vendors are very aggressive trying to sell a massage. The Lyonnesse facial products salesman keeps asking if im gay and tries to put his arms interlocked with mine like were are a couple.
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
This mall sucks. It's dirty on the outside, very mediocre at best in the inside. The clientele is sketchy. The stores aren't great at all and it's just depressing. The women's bathroom in the JC Penny smelt so bad...I will never return this mall. Went over to El Paseo after visiting this mall and it was much much better. Don't waste your time at this mall unless you have to go to Macy's for something. Avoid otherwise.
google avatar

Donna S.

Yelp
This center has been revamped . I usually go to Dicks Sporting Goods or Macy's . I know what I want and don't do recreational shopping . It's in and out and on to the next activity. But I find this center convienent and modern. It's not as big as some centers but it does the trick. I like Dicks Sporting Goods for tennis , golf work out clothes and whatever else I'm interested in. The center is clean and not too many sales people peddling products in kiosks . The best time to go is early morning. They do have a wide variety of shops, restaurants and I did see a gym too. Good idea

Lisa B.

Yelp
I'm shocked and disappointed that it's a holiday weekend and you don't open til 11am everyday???? Its summer at least have the mall open for people to walk and get out of the heat. Everyone I ran into were very disappointed as well.
google avatar

Lorrie M.

Yelp
So when folks go to the Palm Springs mall and are desperately disappointed, they then come to Palm Desert for some shopping. Palm Desert itself already has a healthy selection in their 'downtown area' of nice stores, but it's fairly empty and a little creepy. Literally there's just not many people here because I guess people don't normally shop too much in Palm Desert, who knew? This Westfield is nice though, one of the nicer ones I've been in in California. It's got a good selection of stores and even high end places like Saks which was surprising since many nice malls in the Bay Area do not even boast a Saks. Perhaps like Bryan F had expressed, Palm Desert doesn't deserve this mall because... frankly nobody even goes here. I came here on a Sunday, during the day, and every store was open, and there were barely anyone on the streets. Creepy.
google avatar

T S.

Yelp
Had a gift card to JCPennys, I was happy with the career selection of Liz Claiborne, but I also knew what I wanted before entering the store. The overall mall was very dated and really only has a couple store. Lots of repeats and like stores. Did not appreciate the pushy-ness of the massage workers. They were literally blocking the walkways to soliciting "free samples"

Yelp
This is a sad, small mall but it does kill some time. I came here with my best friend before we checked into our hotel. There is ample parking and the mall is very quiet. There is also a movie theatre located next to the mall. The only thing that I was surprised to see was a Forever 21 red store. I had never seen one before and this store has all the red tags and deals. It was a large store too! All the other stores were alright..not too many large well known stores.

Yelp
The Kids area to play has to be supervised no one respect the rules 3'2 height to enjoy it. I had to leave with my 11 month baby because 3 teenagers almost step on her little fingers. Where were the parents ? I don't know they don't pay attention. At least if you are breaking the rules make sure to watch your kid. Very disappointed in this area and super dirty.
