Google
Best bar in San Diego! We had so much fun. I was very impressed with the performance, high energy, and excellent service. I’ll definitely plan to go back with my family—it’s truly a place where you can have a great time.

Google
We were here for a birthday party and we booked the VIP section for our group. It was perfect to be a little higher up and we pretty much had the space for our group to spread out. The pianists were so talented! They could play all the requested songs. And different instruments. There were 5 musicians there that night and they would cycle out for breaks. To request a song, you fill out a note and drop it off on the piano with some cash. We were there from 6:30pm until after almost midnight. The party was still going strong when we left. It was like one big sing along karaoke party! We had eaten next door at Garage so we had only drinks here. The drinks were a little light on the alcohol and the cost sure do add up quickly.

Philipe Perdigão

Google
Amazing atmosphere where many musicians perform in different instruments for a while in a very fun and outgoing night. When I left the place, they had been playing for 3 hours already non-stop.

Jeff Lindstrom

Google
This is a very fun place. On the night we attended, there wasn't a single seat left in the house. There were two sets of piano players, a brass band, guitar and other players, plus a whole lot of audience participation.

Look, I want to like this place, I really do. There’s a lot to love here, the artists are amazing and the songs are fun to recommend, buuuut it is WAY too loud. They need to turn the volume down for us sensitive folks who want to also enjoy at least a word or two between our friends without losing our voices screaming to the person next to us. Service isn’t the best either, takes forever to get their attention. I personally don’t feel comfortable physically here due to the loud speakers and the chaotic atmosphere. But hey, you’ve got to check this place out at least once because it sure is an experience you don’t get to see often.

Lucie Perillat

Google
Amazing place with great vibes and very talented pianists! Would 100% recommend. It was really fun! On the night I was there, our waitress went to sing Edge of Seventeen with the pianists. I don’t know if she has an online presence but if she does, I would love to know her Instagram/youtube etc. to listen to more of her songs. She had an amazing voice!

Joseph Kirby Jr

Google
Had a blast at The Shout House! The pianists were incredibly talented and kept the crowd engaged the entire night. The atmosphere was electric, everyone was singing and dancing along. The drinks were flowing and the food was surprisingly good. It was the perfect way to spend a night with friends. I highly recommend checking them out!

Danielle

Google
Awesome place to get out for a night of entertainment! The food is delicious. The drinks are mixed well. AND the musicians are marvelous! The spread of songs that they can and do play is astounding.

Bethany F.

Yelp
Such a fun night out with some coworkers and conference attendees! A great spot to let loose after a full day of continuing education. Great fun, singing along and acting a fool! Is it touristy? Of course. Did we have a blast? Yes, we did. Well worth the price (drinks, song requests, tips, etc...) Ubers-a-plenty available to get us back to our hotel. We'll likely be back the next time the conference is in San Diego!

Wendy R.

Yelp
First time here and was very excited. Service is good, but it definitely has a bar food menu. The entertainment.... ok. Real talk, in addition to the cover charge, keep in mind, your song will not be played if you don't fold up that request with a tip. They make it known that the larger tips will guarantee your song will be played. The performers really do a great job engaging the audience and try their best to sing the songs. If they dont the words, try will fill in with made up lyrics. Go with an open mind!

Brent M.

Yelp
The Shout! House is absolutely a blast! This place is filled wall to wall with your new friends all prepared to have a good time. The music was top notch and absolutely entertaining. Though everyone is h there for the music and fun, there is the fullest of bar and the food fills in the gaps. They have seriously talented virtuoso musicians with an impressive repertoire of current and past music. Great place for a good time.

Yelp
SO MUCH FUN! The piano players really had the crowd going and participating in everything! Lots of people get called on stage and it's just hilarious! It's a huge amazing show, the piano players are soooo talented and have amazing voices! I think the price of the ticket and your choice of seating was completely reasonable with how much fun everyone had. Even service was fantastic! It was packed inside, tables touching tables but we were still checked up on very frequently and were able to get refills quite fast! Excellent service! Food was typical bar food but it was still really great! The only downside we had was if you want the piano players to play a song you request, they will most likely do it if you put money down. Our entire group put requests in with money every time, one of my friends even bought both of the piano players drinks and they still didn't play our songs. Other than that it was still such a fun time and definitely worth it!

Karen A.

Yelp
I stopped in to Shout by myself while staying in the Gaslamp quarter. I couldn't believe my ears or eyes. What an amazing experience! There were three pianists who rotated through the dueling pianos and the music NEVER stopped. Audience members would come up to the tip jar and request songs. Sometimes, the pianist would stop them and make them do things, such as answer questions, or dance to the song they requested or any number of funny to slightly off color things. It was hilarious! The place was packed--wall to wall! Lots of large groups all singing along and having a great time! I had such fun that I forgot I was alone! I would definitely return to Shout!

Cristina D.

Yelp
I have not had this much fun in soooo long! Came to SD for a work conference and the dueling piano's shenanigans was by far the best idea to cut everyone loose. We came about 17 deep. The bar was already packed by 9ish pm, and immediately, you know the vibe is right! Our waitress came around right away and took our drink orders. Had my first "Sex on the Piano," one of their signature vodka cocktails. There's little yellow papers and pencil on the tables and the audience can request a song from the stage performers. The performers were seriously so talented that they didn't miss a beat. It was so entertaining to hear them give their piano rendition of "Get Low" by Lil John or Sisqo's "Thong Song." By the end of the night, I laughed so hard, had one too many cocktails, and my voice was hoarse from shouting along with the songs. By the next day, I was a walking ad for this place. I just about told everyone to go here if looking for a great time. I'd definitely come here again!

Richard A.

Yelp
Hadn't been in two years but wanted to take 6 newbie PB friends for a Birthday. We reserved two tables in front of stage, perfect. Got their 715, seated promptly, got drinks and apps. Pizza very good. Pianos started at 8 and we put up some songs. All got played. Great atmosphere and really fun! Eric and woman piano player were awesome. Highly recommend.

Wanda L.

Yelp
So much fun. I would come back they have live bands and song sang. It was pretty crowded wished the space was a bit organized

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Friends and I were looking for some live music after dinner, and we ended up at The Shout! House. This place is a blast! It's a dueling piano bar with two super talented artists who switch between piano, guitar, and drums while singing all your favorite songs. The performers are seriously impressive and keep the energy high. They take requests, crack jokes, and get everyone singing along. The venue itself is pretty cool, with red brick walls and their name lit up. Drinks? They've got a good selection of cocktails, beers, and wines. The staff is friendly and keeps things moving smoothly. If you're in the mood for laughs, great music, and a fun night out, This place is a great spot to check out.

Randall B.

Yelp
Dualing pianos, a raucous crowd that loves the vibe and wow.. a hard combo to beat. If you don't like music, fun, food, and a good dose of shananigans, Shout House isn't for you. The food is solid. About a 7 out of 10. Upscale pub food. Get there about 615 and the show starts about 645. That way you can eat and be done before the show starts. Drinks were amazing and it was a blast for sure. Must, must, must make reservations. Almost never has walk ins. Staff qas fast and attentive. The one and only complaint was our basket of fries came waaaaaay before our food and the fries were cold and dead before dinner were done. Other than that a hit and a must go kinda place.

Kristen M.

Yelp
The environment is just fantastic! The music is great, and the entertainment is fabulous. I felt like I was hanging out with a bunch of friends. Tons of laughs! The food gets 2 stars - pretty subpar. I don't drink, so no input there. Service seemed well staffed and yet completely slammed. Our server was pretty attentive. The neighborhood felt a bit sketchy in the evening,

Julie B.

Yelp
This piano bar is such a unique and entertaining experience with delicious drinks to match. James and Martha in particular were great, and I highly recommend going on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings because of the no cover special. I love that you can request songs and note the inspiration or occassion for joining. You're hand stamped upon entry, but we were asked to show our hand stamp to enter the restroom.

R C.

Yelp
Walked into Shout while looking for some live music after dinner. We didn't have a reservation so we were informed it was standing room only as we payed the $20 cover charge. Luckily we found a spot to lean up against in this crowded venue,it was worth it ! The show was very entertaining! We had a great time and stayed as long as our feet could stand it. Next time make a reservation. We will go back.

Shante D.

Yelp
Went to celebrate besties bday. The wings were ok but not worth the cost. The singers were lively but they only recognize those that pay 20 bucks and up. The wait staff was very kind and attentive. As me and my friend went to give a tip during a "impromptu" or very staged performance we were manhandled by security staff unnecessarily. A simple no will do. Saw the same gray haired elderly caucasian security guard treat some latinas the same way. Did not see him treat other non Black or Brown women in this manner. I wont be back.

Francesca P.

Yelp
Had a fantastic time even on a packed Saturday night! My group of six was already in the downtown area for dinner and were walking around at about 9:30pm looking for a fun bar to continue the night. We walked by and saw the dueling piano bar and decided to check it out. There was no line but we had to wait about a minute to be let in. There was a cover charge and it was very crowded. We squished our way to the bar to order drinks. The drinks were fine, nothing notable there. We were able to find a spot to stand by the bar to watch the show, and eventually space opened up to sit by the bar facing the pianos where there was a small counter bar to set down your drinks. The show was absolutely phenomenal. The performers were so in sync with one another and did a great job interacting with the crowd! Shout out to Courtney and her incredible vocal range, humor, and spitting out Busta Rhymes! We had a great night here, stayed for almost 2 hours, and even got invited up on stage to dance. We are very excited to have stumbled on this local gem and would love to come back with a reservation in the future for another night out or special occasion!

Robb M.

Yelp
If you want to have a fun date or just our entertainment this place is it! Incredible venue!!!

Ashley G.

Yelp
They really need to update the show. I used to think they would actually play your request. Now I realize that they have set songs they play every night . Dont waste your money trying to get a song played. Unless they were already going to play it - it won't happen! Even with a large tip. They need to play more updated songs. This was probably my 5th time going throughout 10 years SAME SONGs every time. Fun for a one time thing and if you mostly want to hear songs from 80s. The act needs an update.

Jasmine P.

Yelp
We love The Shout House that was a recommendation from a friend. Cool venue vibe with dual piano entertainment. The performers are quite talented and mind blowing...they play piano, guitar, drum and sing songs of all genre. Very engaging and so much fun! The service is great and waiters are attentive and responsive. We enjoyed light eats and had a few drinks. Happy to have stumbled upon this place and we will visit every time we're in the Gaslamp area.

Gary F.

Yelp
I remember fondly having a night of fun here last time I spent several days in San Diego over ten years ago. When I found out a few months ago that I was going to have a business meeting in San Diego, this was one of the first places I looked forward to visiting. Unfortunately, I was met with a "closed for private event" sign. I was seriously bummed! Especially since I didn't actually see an event in progress all night (I passed by several times during the night. Maybe next time, I guess.

Brad G.

Yelp
They have a waitress here that has the dang chops! Sure one would expect the pianist to be great singers but when the waitress sang Shallow (Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper) with the pianists our group couldn't stop talking about the chills! It was seriously epic. Ok, got that off my chest. We came in for a birthday so had a group of 17. We did have reservations so getting seated was easy. Lots of American style food, cheese sticks, pretzel, pizza, burger. Etc. our table had pizza, burgers and cheese sticks and it was good. Nothing shockingly amazing but this place is all about the entertainers and the incredible show they put on. The place is packed and there is a line so reservations seem to be a good call. There is a ton of seating and a large bar area and all spots seem to be set up as good seats to enjoy the fun. It is so worth the visit. Dueling pianos, amazing songs, great jokes, positive engagement with the crowd, just a solid good time and feel good experience. Bathrooms are large and pretty clean considering the crowd and that the bathrooms are shared with another business next door. The night we were there a brass band (Alto Sax, Trumpet and Baritone Sax) were invited in. The pianist found them on TikToc and they really added to the show. You can visit several times a year and always see something different. Things to remember. San Diego closes streets on the weekends to give easy access to move around without the concern of cars speeding down the road. However this means parking is tough but hey, it's the city! This location is well visited so be patient if you dont have a reservation. Also remember, these type places thrive on turning tables so if you want to make it a long night at this one spot please keep participating and be sure to tip the staff appropriate for the time as they bust their backs to keep all these tables refreshed in drinks, fed and maintaining the area. Oh..and I will mention the also do an act which was so cool to watch. This is a must visit for locals and our awesome visitors!

Maridel S.

Yelp
First time here for brunch and I didn't know what to expect. I'm guessing it's a new thing so I figured why not try it out. I'm glad we did! The food was reasonably priced, the entertainment was AMAZING, and our server was awesome. If you've never tried the Shout House during brunch, give it a shot! It's def worth it!

Cherie D.

Yelp
Being in downtown I had high hopes for this place. I was disappointed. The cover fee was crazy considering there was no open seats for us. We walked around for at least 20 minutes until 2 people left, we were stuck in a walk way so we were bumped every time someone walked through. The drinks were expensive and watered down and the entertainment was just ok.

Shruti J.

Yelp
This is such a fun place to be at! I came here with a few colleagues for drinks and we had so much fun. Drinks were not bad and food was good. This is definitely a fun place to enjoy some live music. It can get loud so be prepared.

Jean-Charles N.

Yelp
Great spot for fun and loud night The food is not amazing but that's not what you come here for I guess. The loaded fries were good but the mozzarella sticks portion was small for the price Service was good

Lysa D.

Yelp
Cool spot to spend the late nights for entertainment. It was a $10 cover pp for a Thursday night and we sat right between the bar and bottom level. It was a good time! Drinks were good, bartenders were on point and entertainment was alot of fun. Will def be back next time we're in town.

Paul L.

Yelp
The ratings will vary depending on your seating location and the entrance time. It's a five-star experience if you can be seated at one of their tables or a private corner space. If not, you would be forced to stand by the bar shoulder-to-shoulder, sometimes with random strangers, and also give an open space for people passing by. I've experienced both on different occasions, and standing by the bar is not as fun as having your own space with friends. There is a cover charge on weekends. Also, depending on the day, rotating deals are written on the far wall. Saturday was BIG FAT ASS BEER for $12 and deals on their Hurricane drink. Why I love it - This place is like an open-space live karaoke bar singing in unison. The vibe is LOUD and FUN. And one song that everyone loves to sing along is... Just a small town girl; living in a lonely world; she took the midnight goin' anywhere... (DON'T STOP BELIEVIN' by Journey). They also played other classics and one Disney music... Look at this stuff; Isn't it neat?; Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?... (PART OF YOUR WORLD by Ariel) If you want to suggest a song, write it on a Post-it and give it to the pianist with a tip. The more money you give, the higher priority your song will have, and this is how we support the artist.

Sepi A.

Yelp
This was a really great experience. The vibe inside is super upbeat and high energy. People constantly laughing and singing along. The performers really make a point to connect with the audience and recognize any people celebrating a special occasion. Our drinks were delicious... the food was okay, nothing super special, but still enjoyable and I felt like everything was priced reasonably well. I made reservations and was glad I did because you get packed like sardines in there and I saw lots of people getting turned away.

Robert H.

Yelp
This was one of the best experiences I've had in SD. I love live music and they delivered. You need to reserve your spot if not you will be perched at the bar playing musical chairs when people leave. The food is okay and they have a decent drink menu. The seating is a bit cramped at the bar tops, but it gives you an amazing view. If you have not had the pleasure, I highly recommend it. Think up a few song request to top the night off.

Ann N.

Yelp
This place is so much fun. We came for a conference in LaJolla but spent a couple days in SD. We don't have piano bars so was so excited to visit this place that my friend looked up. We came on a Thursday night and made it before the massive crowd. We managed to get a seat up front. Two pianos, 2 singers who rotate with others. You write out a song you want them to play and sing, place it on their piano w a bid. Higher the bid, the faster they choose your song. They were all so great and entertaining. We only had drinks so I can't rate the food. If you come later, you might end up standing. The bathroom had someone there who gave you paper towels after you wash your hands. I had no idea that service still existed nor did i bring any money to the bathroom. Sorry lady! Having this as my 1st experience at a piano bar, I totally recommend it and only wish Hawaii had one too.

Kenneth H.

Yelp
First time here & we had a BLAST! The musicians were very talented, funny, and witty. They played a wide variety of genres & had the crowd's participation very often. They even had me go on-stage! The drinks were reasonably priced & the service was on point with ensuring we weren't left thirsty. Will definitely be coming back again.

Michael H.

Yelp
I came here on a Wednesday after getting multiple recommendations on coming here. I got here around 9:30p.m., and they still served food! I ordered the Butchers Burger, and it was juicy and delicious! They don't have a cover charge on Wednesday so I lucked out! There was plenty of seating but I can see it being packed on the weekend. AJ was our server and made sure we had what we needed. There were several large groups who got on the stage and sung! This is a great place for large groups and to have a great night out. I would recommend it! I would definitely come back here when I am visiting next!

Kokila S.

Yelp
Fun place to catch the dueling pianos! Drinks could be better for the price, but they have occasional specials that are worth taking advantage of. I haven't tried the food but it seems like they have a variety of options for bar snacks/meals. It can get crowded quickly on the weekends and evenings, so if you have a group make a paid reservation in advance so you actually get seating. There is a cover charge most nights.

Ann S.

Yelp
Love the chill vibe. I tried Sex on the Piano cocktail and I recommend it. Service was good too, very attentive.

Jerry R C.

Yelp
The Shout House is a 21+ venue with a bar, restaurant, and dueling piano performances inside. The piano players are very talented and know how to sing and play multiple instruments. The atmosphere is super fun and engaging. TIPS: I recommend making reservations in advance so you're guaranteed a seat. Once you're inside, if you make a song request, be sure to include a cash tip with your request -- the performers are so overwhelmed with requests that the ones with tips get priority.

Kathleen S.

Yelp
I have been here twice this year, and had a really great time at both events! The musical talent here is amazing; the musicians here know how to make for a wonderful time and engage audience members of all ages. It blows my mind with how many songs they can play on the spot and how every experience here is a unique one. They also get people up on stage to do some fun things and for those with celebrations (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) Cover charges depend on the day you go and if you make a reservation - the later in the week (Thurs-Sat), the more it is (ranges from $10-20). They have a full bar with specialty cocktails, so you could pretty much order anything you want here along with a beer & wine selection. Their food is pretty good here, but can be heavy (they do have salad options though!) I've tried their carne asada fries before, and last night I got their beyond burger. We also got an appetizer sampler basket which came with onion rings, fries, mozzarella sticks, and chicken tenders. I would honestly prefer to eat somewhere else probably in a more intimate setting since I'm not a big fan of bar food, but at least the option is there if you're feeling a snack or something to munch on. Service has been great here despite how crowded it can get. The staff has always been really friendly and orders have come out fairly quick. It can get loud in there, so if you're sensitive to noise, I'd recommend earplugs.

Sydney S.

Yelp
What a fun and unique experience while we were visiting! We tried just about every bar in the area for a holiday vibe and ALL had corporate events or lines around the block. We found Shout house while we were in line for a holiday bar. It was a $15 cover on a Saturday night, but it was well worth it. This dueling piano bar is filled with talent and fun - plus lots of great surprises! I was entertained the entire time we were here. We started with just being able to have standing room, but moved down to a table when they started opening up later in the night. Drinks seemed to be a good deal - I didn't have any but my group did.

Consuelo R.

Yelp
Danny the bus boy was very help with me and my fiancé and was very nice to us both we came to San Deigo for weekend vacation from LA and my feet were hurting from standing and Danny was very much helpful enough to get us table so I can sit down the service as great thanks to to him ,he made me it wonderful !

Tina A.

Yelp
Absolutely had an amazing time. The pianist were great, but the fiddle player was amazing! There was great interactiveness with the crowd, the drinks were good, we did not eat, but the pizza was very popular with all the guests.

Stephanie F.

Yelp
Still five stars-came back for my birthday and got to go on stage with a song by my favorite singer Taylor Swift. I came with a larger party of nine and Amanda took great care of us, making sure we had our drinks and food (I love the fry trio!)

Ozzy R.

Yelp
This place is hella fun. The live music is really entertaining and I have to give a shout out to the server Bryant he was really helpful and professional. You gotta check this place out!

Jinina A.

Yelp
Live band! different genre of music every night. good ambiance and live music! nice service, food is good.

Mimi L.

Yelp
I love the Raspberry Beret cocktail! The food is good, too (especially the Buffalo strips). It's such a fun place. The service is great, and the pianists are fun/funny! Great ambiance and crowd!

Diana C.

Yelp
This review is long overdue as we have loved this place for years. We first visited 5 years ago for my husband's 21st birthday and have come back to celebrate various special occasions since then. Everything is great and we love how every visit is completely different. All employees are attentive starting with the bouncers, bartenders, servers, and of course the amazing piano players. The main reason I can't give a full 5 stars is because on few occasions they have almost immediately decided it is the last song and they are closing earlier than their posted hours. I completely understand it gets slow but please give patrons at least a 30 min notice. We usually Uber there and have had to wait outside because we didn't know closing time would come early. We once waited an hour outside because it was a busy weekend and there weren't enough ride shares. The pianist even saw us and offered us a ride home because they felt bad which was so incredibly kind! In addition, another gripe is regarding the bathroom attendants. It doesn't feel necessary and it just makes the experience of going to the restroom super awkward because now I feel that I need to tip. The women's restroom also tends to look very crowded with all the supplies on the counters. My husband also mentioned there wasn't any soap in the men's restroom and if he wanted some had to ask the attendant. Aside from that, this place is great and we will continue visiting anytime we are in the gaslamp!

Josaph S.

Yelp
First time here and definitely a great time! I was too late for the food but I would try the pizza next time. Pizza is life! The bartender was helpful and answered my questions. They get their beer brewed by stone! So I had to try it. It's a blonde, it was smooth. The ambiance was fun! The piano players play together taking request from the audience. My partner dedicated some blink 182 and the three players came out. One played the piano, the other the bass, and another the drums. The crowd was welcoming and fun! Definitely will visit again

Dave J.

Yelp
I guess you have to put up a $20 bill or more to get these 'musicians' to play a song request. I only gave $10 and got a roll of the eyes and my song was never played. Security guards are jerks. Oh, and some songs just shouldn't be played by dueling pianos, Bradley Nowell is turning over in his grave after hearing their ridiculous rendition of Santeria. I won't be back, but you all have a great time

Nayla H.

Yelp
Such a fun place! It's more than pianos, there's sax, drums, guitars and harmonica! Everyone is so very talented and was an amazing experience!

Joe C.

Yelp
This was so much fun!!! We told everyone we were from IKEA and our names were Chris! Pizza was delicious and the BIG @$$ Beer was very cool souvenir cup...mine broke-bummer. Everyone had a great time in our group. The pianists were something I've never seen before.

Heather D.

Yelp
Went for brunch on a Sunday. So much fun Great entertainment. Good food. Great service. Drinks were really good. Will definitely return
