13 Phoenix Bakeries Worth Checking Out

"The Sicilian Baker is part of The Maggiore Group’s restaurants, including The Sicilian Butcher. Similar to other restaurants owned by the Maggiores, the Sicilian-Italian bakery includes a “build your own” bar, this time for cannoli; customers can pick out the size, shell, and fillings from myriad choices. Not into cannoli? Try a flaky sfogliatelle filled with ricotta, or one of their seasonal specialities." - Asonta Benetti, Bahar Anooshahr

I recently visited The Sicilian Baker and was completely blown away by their incredible cannolis and desserts! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully crafted—hands down some of the best I’ve ever had. The cannolis were perfectly crisp with a rich, creamy filling that melted in my mouth, and the variety of desserts was a delightful treat for the senses. The service was outstanding Kate, made the experience even more easier with her professionalism. She explained the desserts to me really well, offering detailed insights that helped me choose the perfect treats. She was quick to assist, ensured everything was perfect, and handled every detail with care. Five stars all the way for The Sicilian Baker—amazing sweets and top-notch service! I’ll definitely be back!

Google
Unbelievable pastries! The cannoli shells were light and crisp, with a tremendous selection of filling from the traditional to Reese’s and Oreo, plus more. The cheesecake was ridiculous! The girl working the counter was so helpful and friendly to my three kids. We must go back for the tiramisu and the other pastries

Google
Had a wonderful dinner. I had the lasagna (decent portion) and it was very good. Waitress was very attentive. When our sodas were low she never had asked always ready with a refill. I like when dont have to wait or ask. We did not have desert.

Google
Wish I had better things to say but it was average at best. We had the select your own meatballs and pasta option for lunch. The pasta was tough. The vodka sauce was not very flavorful. The meatballs were dry. Definitely not what you expect from an Italian place.

Google
Pastries were yummy but tad bit overpriced in my opinion but good

Google
The place is small and only has one table inside but has amazing desserts! We had dinner next door and came here after it was recommended. The tiramisu is sooo good as well as the cannoli and their variety. Try the cookie samples on the counter while you’re deciding what you want!

Google
The Sicilian Baker has the BEST Napoleon I've ever discovered. It is absolutely divine. They also have a great variety of other options if you're looking for delectable desserts. AND they're available through delivery service apps like Uber Eats. I'm so glad I decided to give this bakery a try - it's worth it!

Google
The Traditional Cannoli in the display case was very delicious. You can also order a custom cannoli where a regular size cannoli shell can be filled with two types of fillings. There were 12 cannoli fillings in the case.

Yelp
Fast service and good selection even at 430 pm! Tried the gelato ( salted caramel and orange) both delicious, but it was the lobster tail and Sfogliatella pastries that I love and can't find outside of Boston! We enjoyed outside on a nice afternoon. Want to come back for dinner some time soon to the sister restaurant.

Yelp
I stopped by Sicilian Baker and had a mixed experience. The guy behind the counter seemed a bit distracted, which made the service feel a little off. On the other hand, the girl was super nice and noticed and she stepped in to kindly help. The desserts were okay. Nothing mouth watering or memorable, but decent. We spent $30 on the deserts pictured. Definitely on the pricier side for what you get. Not sure if I'd rush back, but if you're in the area and want to try something sweet, it's worth a shot!

Yelp
Friendly service. Lots of options. Free samples! Great desserts; both ice cream and pastries!

Yelp
I had a favorite things party to attend last night and needed to bring a dessert. While I've eaten at Sicilian Butcher more times than I can count, it was my first time going to Sicilian Baker. I walked in and oh man did all the desserts look amazing! I chose a random sampling of: lemon meringue pies, chocolate caramel tarts, wedding cookies, mini cannolis and regular cannolis. The guy working was super friendly and helpful, and I was REALLY popular at the party with all the tasty treats!! The space is small but it's clean, it displays little slices of heaven, and is totally worth the visit!

Yelp
I love this bakery everything is delicious. The cannolis are amazing. They have a really good white chocolate raspberry mocha that is Devine. Customer service is usually on par there's a lot more young people working there than I remember before. The he gelato is delicious and if your hungry go next door to the Italian butcher to get some pasta beforehand. Love the vibe inside as well.

Yelp
Found this amazing Sicilian bakery in Scottsdale from Yelp. It was a short drive from the mountains and after a 2 hour hike we were hungry. Jayden took great care of us at the make your canoli bar and were even able to try a few flavors before settled on a key lime and pistachio one. They also have the traditional flavors or can get nontraditional ones such as nutella, key lime, pistachio etc.... We bought a few wedding cookies and their lemon cookies were to die for.Just the right amount of tangy sweetness. The bakery is set up to also accomodate dessert for their adjacent restaurant the Sicilian Butcher. Will absolutely come back and so excited to hear will be opening in Texas with 3 new locations in Houston.

Yelp
We meet our son and his family regularly at Sicilian Butcher in Chandler for really good food for a reasonable price that is accompanied by warm competent and likable employees who always ensure we have a great family lunch. The servings are generous so our family members normally have a lunch for the next day. We finish our lunch with taking our excited granddaughter next door to The Sicilian Baker for some very tasty Italian Pastries! absolutely lovely!

Yelp
Excellent Italian bakery! Everything we tried was wonderful, but the tiramisu is something else...the real deal. Also the best rainbows I've found in Arizona. Everything is such high quality perfection.

Yelp
I found the Sicilian Butcher to be a small chain of Italian dessert stores throughout the Phoenix area that came highly recommended as a result of local blogs and list. What I found was a clean storefront that offered a shortist of some of the most common desserts that go well with lattes, cappucinos and limoncellos. This is looking specifically at their desserts. Mini cannoli - this was a bit lackluster in flavor, specifically within the creme. I found the outside crunch to be excellent, but didn't wow me in any way. I do this is good for one person, although the regular size would be good for one hungry person or split between two people. Italian wedding cookie - this was a hard cookie that is very common, but didn't seem to have the sweetness or softness of the traditional wedding cookie. I don't think this was as great as it could have been. I would opt for this over a cannoli, however. Latte - served to go, I found this to be a very light latte without much espresso strength. While this may have been the case with the oat milk option, I hoped for a bit more, and for it to be a bit hotter. I do think people really like this place could use more than a great decor, but a bit more in flavor for the desserts. I did like the clean atmosphere, steadfast service, and availability.

Yelp
Delectable location adorning modern charm. Worth a stop for either gelato and/or take away box of cookies. Love the rolling pins and whisks hanging from the ceiling. Parking in the area is a bit of a challenge. No line, no wait, no hassle.

Yelp
This review is strictly for the Lobster tails and gelato. The guy who was helping us was nice and friendly! We got one chocolate and vanilla. It was big and it really looked like a lobster tail but in pastry form. It tasty like a crispy croissant but with delicious filling! We took it to go and it was still crispy and light. I was expecting it to be soggy from the filling but to my surprise it wasn't. Generous amount of filling. My daughter had the Gelato and they had a good variety of flavors. We got mint chip and cookie butter. It was so good! Refreshing and great flavors! We will definitely be back to try some more desserts!

Yelp
We stopped by as I was craving a morning pastry. Sicilian Baker is next to the Sicilian Butcher. The Baker offers custom filled cannoli, various italian pastries & cookies as well as espresso and coffee. The decor is a 10 very cutely decorated with rolling pins and mixer wisks hanging from ceiling or as light fixtures. We ordered 2 pastries; this is the basis of my review. Sfogiatelle (almond filled) and chocolate cannoncini (cream horn). They were very heavy, and both were chilled vs. room temp. The almond in particular had too much filling; I had to discard half the filling. The chocolate cream was lighter and tasted good. The pastry dough itself was a bit bland tasting. The variety or cannoli ricotta based fillings are clearly displayed, and this may have been a better choice.

Yelp
Parking is ample. Service is excellent. I ordered an expresso gelato for $4.50. A pretty good price and genuine expresso with coffee beans in it. The assorted box for $18 is very good. The cookies I believe are typically $1 and for 20 cookies in box assorted of all 4 types of cookies a very good price. My main visit was for fruit tart. I have been to Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, San Diego, etc to try out fruit tarts. The crust was thin and delicious, the cream was different, the fruits fresh,. The only thing that was questionable to me was that it was $10 for an average size small tart. Most places have been less than $10. Overall Service was good,

Yelp
Simply Delightful. Best tiramisu I've ever had. Extremely fluffy and creamy. Don't walk. RUN.

Yelp
The best dessert I've ever had!!! Paola and Jaden provided amazing customer service!!! You have to come here, will NOT regret it!!!

Yelp
I've been in Italian places many times around the world including Milano , Roma , Venice + ! I order a artichoke & prosciutto pizza very disappointed the sauce was like water the pizza was uncooked ! I told the girl who was working there she hasn't done anything about it poor service ! very very disappointed I was waiting for this pizza all day long , i was so upset i payed for it and left ! terrible experience

Francine L.

Yelp
Food was delicious. We each had different sandwiches... meatball, chicken parm, eggplant parm, and cured meat. The sandwich bread was excellent. We each had a small salad as our side. Very tasty dressing. I bought 2 Dolce Duo cannolis to take home from their fabulous bakery next door. OMG, were they mouthwatering!
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
Such a cool idea! They have a case that looks like it would hold ice cream but it holds different flavors of cannoli fillings! The staff was friendly and nice and offered for us to taste many of the flavors. They also suggested combos they like best, which is always a nice touch! The space is cute and clean, directly next to an Italian restaurant that also looked delicious. I ended up getting a pistachio crusted shell filled with half pistachio and half "seasonal" which was amaretto. This was a special and delicious experience that you can't get just anywhere! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Rebekah D.

Yelp
I sometimes skip cookies but oh my goodness, the cookies here are a real treat. Amaretti cookies have the perfect amount of chewiness and crunch to them and they're not overly sweet. I only bought 1 almond cookie. It was not overly inspiring but it was 75 cents. #worthit You can choose your own cannoli shell and cannoli fillings. Omg. The traditional is good, but I'm on a pb kick right now so the peanut butter filling is my favorite. I like it with a chocolate dipped cannoli shell. Yasssss. The chocolate hazelnut tart was a huge hit at our house. It's a crisp sugar dough shell with a rich chocolate ganache and topped with a candied hazelnut and chocolate decor. So rich you can share it or keep it all to yourself. You can never go wrong with the rainbow cookies. I buy at least 2 every time. Rich and delicious almond cake with just a little bit of chocolate. So so good. Tiramisu- kinda pricey at $13 but it's very good. It's not an overly "wet" tiramisu where it feels like the cake has lost its texture due to over saturation, and it wasn't dry leaving me wondering where the coffee was. Basically Goldilocks, it's just right. Not too sweet, not too much coffee. True to its name, it does pick you up. Service is always friendly here, they are patient when you get the deer in the headlights look when you're trying to decide what to get or with indecisive children. Don't skip this place if you like to treat yourself. It definitely helps make life sweet.

Yelp
Great lobster tail! I devoured it like a rabid animal ! Amazing wedding cookies ! Staff is very friendly !
google avatar

Monica O.

Yelp
Was in the area and wanted something sweet to eat so looked on the Yelp app for desserts and it led me to The Sicilian Baker so off I went. The Sicilian Baker is attached to The Sicilian Butcher. After checking out the pastries in the display case I went with chocolate eclairs, Italian wedding cookies, vanilla custard lobster tail and mini cannoli. Everything I tried was delish, the chocolate eclairs had a chocolate filling, which was a surprise, but in the good way. The one that I was looking forward to trying was one of the mini cannoli's I had bought, but I left it on the counter and when I came back my dog said thank you for the snack haha. So, I will be back to get more! If looking for some great Italian desserts go give The Sicilian Baker a try!
google avatar

Charles C.

Yelp
Came specially for desert and wasn't disappointed with a lobster tail with Nutella and gelato, yum
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Attached to the Sicilian Butcher, the aptly named Baker is a dessert shop with gelato, cannolis, and a number of other Italian pastries. All handmade and extremely tasty. Great service and very cute vibe inside. They additionally have outdoor seating if you want to eat it outside.
google avatar

Adam B.

Yelp
So you say cheesecake is just cheesecake? Well, you're wrong. THIS is cheesecake!!!!! The tiramisu is also really good! I feel like they used to have a lot more options and they don't have the store there anymore. No more bianco tomatoes!
google avatar

Jasmine H.

Yelp
The cappuccino is so smooth and tasty and the pastries and cookies are rich, fresh, and not overly sugary. I'll be going back anytime I visit the area!
google avatar

Teresa R.

Yelp
Great addition to the Sicilian Butcher right next door! Great service and several flavors of Cannoli filling annnnnnd Gelato! I loved the options of cannoli shells and that they will box the shells separately from the filling for to go orders without a fuss!!
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
Jaden gave excellent service will definitely come back, cannoli very good and fresh make the drive!
google avatar

Liv S.

Yelp
Jaden did amazing and super attentive and helping me choose my dessert the tiramisu is to die for

Daniel E.

Yelp
The pastries and coffee are pretty good. However they have what I think is the worst gelato I've ever had. It was harder than trigonometry.
google avatar

Leslie G.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with anything here. From cannolis to napoleons or a lobster tail! I can never get pictures as I eat it all too fast. Finally I remembered before devouring this lobster tail. Go to Sicilian butcher for you're main meal and then stop in the bakery for treats!!
google avatar

Layna T.

Yelp
Go there, and get a lemon meringue tart. Thank me later. One of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. And I've had many decades around the sun, so I have eaten many things!
google avatar

Liz L.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with all the options here, all the italian cookies I've been wanting! Great location as well!
google avatar

Amy R.

Yelp
A bite of pure delight. A dance of smooth cannoli filling. A crisp little shell of your choice. You CANNOT go wrong here.
google avatar

Reena R.

Yelp
Stopped by here after dinner at the Sicilian Butcher next door. The cannolis and lobster tail are soooo good! The cannolis are really big and can be shared by multiple people. The oreo one was really sweet. Pistachi was good.
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
We had their Nutella chocolate cake and lemon meringue togo from here. The cake was just as i remember from their other location in Peoria. Lemon meringue came highly recommended so we had to try it. It was the absolute best. Not as rich as the cake but light and fluffy with hint of lemon. Probably will head over there again to get some more. Enjoy. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Tina E.

Yelp
This was right next to the Sicilian Butcher where we ate for dinner. I walked in and saw the options and knew I'd be stopping here for dessert to take home. I do have to admit, some textures were a bit dry and flavor was a bit lacking. The only thing I really liked and came back for more if was the lemon cookies. Service was amazing and the girls were a fun and helpful on deciding.
google avatar

Paalika B.

Yelp
LOVE this place. The gelato blows many surrounding spots out of the water, especially for the price! Our go to gelato spot and you can't go wrong with adding a little cannoli to your order!!
google avatar

Marcia I.

Yelp
Service was great. We were not familiar with Italian desserts and the young man at the counter was super helpful and patient explaining all of the different types of desserts/cannelloni's. Desserts were delicious!
google avatar

T R.

Yelp
Love the cannolli bar! I always get several of the more authentic treats, like amaretti cookies, sfogliatelle, etc, but I'm a sucker for those Reese's peanut butter cup filled cannolli. I always end up eating one in the car lol
google avatar

Ari Y.

Yelp
This place reminds of of some bakeries in NYC and it feels nostalgic. They do a great job with their Italian variety and keeping items fresh. I have been to other Italian bakeries that you can tell their items are not as fresh but I have never had that here. Everything is super good and their service is great!
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
The Baker and the Butcher! A match made in heaven. The bakery is attached to the Sicilian Butcher (see my other review in them). You will find a mouthwatering selection of Italian deserts, including some of the best cannolis located outside of the Bronx! Try the tiramisu and cheesecake too. Omg, you just cannot go wrong here. Kudos to them for setting the pickup spot for the Sicilian Butcher inside the bakery. It ensures you never go home without something truly special and inspiring if a 5-star Yelp review. Nothing special to note about the service. It's what you expect for a pickup and go experience. Enjoy!

Yelp
Sunday afternoon, having a BBQ, all set, but forgot about dessert. I've passed this place 100 times. Well, finally I stopped in. The store is very cute and has an array of bakery goods along with a Gelato counter too. Not knowing the process of ordering, it was explained to me by a very nice gentlemen behind the counter along with giving me tasters of the Creams offered. I noticed all employees wearing masks. I ordered 6 Chocolate dipped Cannoli Shells, 3 filled with pistachio cream and 3 filled with Regular Cream and a secret dessert for just me, the Napoleon. Coming from NYC with Little Italy in my back yard, this place has some big shoes to fill and indeed they did for an Arizona supplier. I will say for me, the Chocolate Dipped was a bit too rich, though my guest loved them. Next time I'll stick with the traditional shell. To note: my Napoleon was heavenly! Atmosphere: small, clean, following store covid rules. Service: excellent. Desserts: heavenly

Jacob S.

Yelp
Erika was phenomenal today in bakery. From the pastry recommendations to the coffee she made us was great. Absolutely will becoming back!!!

Joe C.

Yelp
Amazing! Haven't had cannoli this good since Sicily. Not only that, the service was amazing. I'm telling you, give this place a try! I was in town for my kids break and decided to try Italian spots for dessert and pizza. Best dessert and service I had in Scottsdale hands down.
google avatar

Natasha A.

Yelp
We've loved absolutely everything here! They are also very nice and kindly bring what we order to the table we are eating at in Sicilian Butcher. The cannoli shells are very crispy and their filling is creamy like it should be. The "Hazelnut Chocolate Cake" was a dream made out of mousse. The "Peche Con Crema" was delightful, a work of art - a peach cake sculpted to look like a peach!

Amber M.

Yelp
Pierce provided excellent service and was super pleasant. Delicious affogatos and cannolis.
google avatar

Cathy H.

Yelp
Came here on a Monday afternoon post-lunch at the Sicilian Butcher. There were a people in line, which gave us the opportunity to admire the decor (which was very festive, fun, and colorful). There was so many options of Italian goodies for you to choose from. The woman behind the counter gave us the BEST service! She was hilarious with a New York accent and just very fun to interact with. She let us try some of the cookies and even threw in a free mini cannoli when we ordered a box. We got a box of mini cannolis to try multiple flavors of the filling - pistachio, amaretti, peanut butter, cookie butter, and hazelnut. My favorite was the cookie butter but the amaretti was a close second. Highly recommend coming here for dessert! You will love the vibes and the sweets - everything is good so you can't go wrong!
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Delicious, need I say more. The custard lobster roll was my favorite of all. Love the concept. Dessert before dinner! I WOULD go back.
