"Italian deli and sandwich shop The Sideboard, which opened in 2020, now has an attached bar called Side Bar. The team tells Eater that sandwiches can be ordered at the bar until 6 p.m., with plans to keep them going into late night once the bar gets its bearings." - Emma Orlow

They make amazing sandwiches and the Italian sandwich is one of the best I’ve ever had. Definitely try it with the sweet pepper relish. All the ingredients are purposefully curated and really fresh. The owner and the staff are super nice. I grab lunch from here often. Highly recommend.

Super friendly and a nice selection of vegetarian sandwiches! It’s so hard to find vegetarian sandwiches that aren’t an afterthought. The sandwich I ordered had really good ingredients on a very nice roll and had really good flavor - also these sandwiches are a MEAL, they don’t skimp on size. Very unpretentious but delicious. If I could give 6 stars for their service I would!

Google
10/10. Stumbled into this place on a hot day. Owner (?) was super nice. Prices are very fair for NYC (I appreciate being able to get a tall boy for $5). I got the Italian. Phenomenal. Thinly slice meat. Bread is crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.

Great place. Very friendly and the sandwich I got was great. Capicola and fresh Mozzarella 👌🏼

Sideboard is a gold tier sandwich shop and has quickly become my favorite in the neighborhood. The key word I would use to describe this place is minimal. The menu is small, and the interior of the shop is pleasantly simple. It feels something like the opposite of Court Street Grocers (which I also love by the way - this is just an entirely different vibe) and I enjoy that. It all feels so classic. The sandwiches of course are perfect. I don’t know where these guys source their ingredients, but everything from the meat to the bread and the vegetables in between are amazing. The classic Italian and muffuletta are the clear standouts, with the muffuletta probably being the best I’ve ever had. Note that the “half” size is about as big as your face and the that the full could easily feed three people. I hope this place is around for a long time.

Genuinely one of the best sandwiches I've had in a really long time. The apple + cheddar sandwich is my favorite. To top it off, the owner has a ton of unique drink and snack options. Super happy I came across this place! :)

As a meat eater who loves veggies I really love how the chickpea sandwich here totally stands on its own. Too many sandwich places phone it in on the vegetarian choices but not here! One of the very best lunch spots in the neighborhood.

The sandwiches that I have tried are amazing (perfect ratio of meat to bread), but better than the sandwiches are the conversations that I have had with the owner Ethan. It is like talking with an old friend and I can't wait until he opens up that brewery next door!

Yelp
Ok, this place needs a lot more attention and traffic, because I cannot afford to lose these sandwiches in my life. These sandwiches are absolute bomb. From the bread all the way to the meats and cheeses, everything works together beautifully. The guy working behind the counter was the absolute kindest in the world as well. They also sell some harder-to-find Asian grocery items (which I thought was a bit odd, but appreciated). If you're in the neighborhood, definitely stop by this place for an amazing sandwich.

Yelp
Super sandwich spot in gowanus, had the Italian hero which was perfect. Excellent quality meats (no boars head!) and nice balance of flavors. Bar around the corner with seats. Next time wanna try the muffuletta!

Yelp
Will be back for the Muffuletta!! Always a pleasant experience. Ran in for a quick drink at my first visit- kombucha, ciders, beers and international drinks! -but knew I was coming back for a sandwich.

Yelp
Best muffuletta Brooklyn. I got it on a normal seeded Caputos roll. Ethan (owner) was happy to oblige. They make the olive spread in house and it's off the F'ing hook! I can't recommend highly enough. If you want an Italian style sandwich stop looking and just go here. Brooklyn Heights deli is the only place that is AS good, and they've been doing it for decades...so the bar is high.

Yelp
Excellent sandwiches. We've had all the vegetarian and the ham. Bread is outstanding, ingredients fresh & delicious, and kind service. They also sell yummy chips and cans of beer. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Hands down one of the best sandwich places in Brooklyn. Sometimes you gotta wait but it's well worth it :) ham and cheese is awesome as is the Italian sub!
