It's just the little things that go a long way. It's common courtesy to acknowledge a customer in your store, especially when you've never seen them before. Don't walk past them multiple times as if they're invisible. There is potential in a new customer. I probably didn't "look" like I was going to buy. The Sill is a nice little spot with very healthy looking plants and quite the variety. The plant I paid for is exactly half the price on another side of Brooklyn but I wanted this for my office window so... No receipt given and wasn't asked about it either. Either way, I love plants. I care for about 70 at home, but this one is sitting pretty at work. Delivery is available. Expensive but available.

Beautiful houseplant shop tucked around the corner of Court Street in Cobble Hill. The company’s first location (they now boast 5+) was in Chinatown on Hester Street. I am delighted they have a Brooklyn presence, and a gorgeous boutique at that! The space is surprisingly large for a plant shoppe. Aesthetically the layout is impeccable. Their offerings are comprehensive and well appointed. The staff was super warm, very helpful and knowledgeable. I purchased one small (African Mask Plant) and one medium (ZZ Plant) of their trendiest of offerings. I am glad the cost wasnt too steep. I wonder what kind of warranty they are flexing tho! Alas, my budget consciousness found the planting vessels, pots and other accouterments to be (a bit) costly. Immediately after purchasing I pulled up Marshall’s and got myself two darling vessels for $5 a pop. I included pics of the plants and the pots in my review. I first heard of the company when a rep of theirs was interviewed on a random podcast I had caught. Their website is very impressive and was excited to learn they were based in New York City. I became super hyped learning of their Brooklyn outlet, and a gorgeous boutique at that!

I've purchased some plants online and some in store. I began in October and now have 10 total! I am new to plants and could not have kept these in such great condition without the help of the amazing staff. Jada is really great. She gave me very detailed care instructions for plants I purchased in store as well as online. I also like how I was able to share specifics about the kinds of plants I wanted (e.g. pet friendly, low light) and they helped me find the right ones.

Excellent location! Wide selection of healthy plants, including some that aren’t even sold on the website. They also have lots of pots and other cool accessories. To top it off, all the employees we interacted with were super friendly and helpful. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area!

Such a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. The staff here is so knowledgeable and absolutely wonderful to work with. They have an amazing selection and really great quality. Love the modern design. Perfect for finding a last-minute housewarming gift or present. Julialee helped me pick out a perfect assortment while answering all my questions and taking into consideration my concerns. Can’t wait to go back!

Google
Beautiful store, unpleasant shopping experience Similar experience as the recommended review. A beautiful space with great plants, yet with the vibe and customer service that reminds you of a high-end clothing boutique where the “customer isn’t good enough to shop here”. At a plant store in Brooklyn (sigh). Decided to spend my money elsewhere. If you like the products, you can buy them off their web site and skip the annoying retail experience.

Google
Today, an employee spent a good 20-30 minutes repotting two of our plants, fixing one of the cords on the pots - all while diagnosing one plant's problems and giving us good, concrete advice on making the plant happier. No charge. I've patronized the sill for several years, and it is 100% because of their employees, who are universally knowledgeable, kind, patient, and incredibly helpful. Yes, the prices are more elevated than other plant stores, but you get so much help taking care of your plants afterwards that the tradeoff is worth it.

This location of The Sill (Cobble Hill) is great! The staff is super nice and helpful about all things plants! I brought in a plant that needed repotting and they did it with so much care! Highly recommend especially if you need to repot a big plant

Yelp
I've been twice now. The store is smartly arranged with plants by the type of light they need, and store associates are very helpful and knowledgeable If you have questions about what would be best for your particular situation. The value seems pretty good considering the quality, and they are always doing some sort of sale when I'm there. I even got a free planter this last time (a nifty upcycled one, thanks The Sill!)

Yelp
I have a voucher for a plant at The Sill from BKLN Clay and signed up for a Happy Hour Sip n' Shop event on July 5th at 4pm, but when we got there, it said it was closed for lunch at 4pm!

Yelp
I love the aesthetic here and the organization of the store, which makes it easy to navigate by plant characteristics and needs. However my success rate with plants from here is really really low vs plants I've bought from other local shops. I bought an air plant that was dead within two weeks, even though I managed to keep one of the same type alive for over a year. I've also bought two other plants that died within a month, even though I've been successful with ones of similar types. I do have a zz plant and snake plant that are alive and well (knock on wood and pray to the green giant) so that's a 40% success rate. All that to say, it's not me, it's you. I probs won't but from The Sill again.

Yelp
2020 is the year of gardening prowess. I mean what more can we do but make our places we quarantine more homey? Plants definitely bring more warmth to any place. I had just recently moved back to BK and was wandering around and found that the sill among many gardening centers was near-ish by and open for business. They only allow 5 people in store Max and give you plenty of info for your new plant babies. I'm excited to see how these guys do in my new home. Love the tricolor option. If you buy in the plastic planters the prices are reasonable. Not a cheap-o place but you can pick your new green baby out yourself and that's nice. Their soil is a bit higher in price point than sat miracle gro but it's organic and the contents are transparently listed on the bag. That's a win for me.

Yelp
Had 3 of my plants repotted here. My orchard was dead within a few days, it was doing fine otherwise. And my other two plants returned infested with tiny plant flies. One had to be thrown out (after my best attempts to save it). I am working to keep my other plant alive. however, I am scared that the flies have spread to my other perfectly fine plants! Not only did I end up with 3 plants dying, BUT (even more annoyingly so) I also now have tiny gnat flies in my apartment that are gross & im constantly trying to kill. I wish I had never come here, My plants were fine before. Be warned!!

Yelp
The sill saved my orchids! I had them reported and put together and they're thriving. I love this shop and their vibe.

Yelp
This is one of the most helpful plant shops I've been to! I stopped by the Sill after I saw they were running a "buy a plantar get a free plant" promo. I forgot the name of the person working but they were so kind and very helpful as I was choosing the appropriate plants for my home. They were also very knowledgeable and taught me why a previous plant (calathea) probably died and how best to take care of a new one (who knew some plants need to take a trip into the bathroom for shower steam). I ended up leaving with 3 new plants --even getting another one free through a second deal. Hopefully I can keep these babies alive but will definitely be back for all my plant needs.

Yelp
I honestly cannot say enough good things about this location. After reading the reviews, I decided to just take the train instead of ordering online and shipping. The inventory was great! So many plants, pots and apparel to choose from! The two ladies who work today were so helpful and pleasant! They even offered to repot my monstera into the new planter! This is my new favorite place :)

Yelp
When the stalking algorithms of Instagram points you in the right direction...it's welcome? So glad that The Sill is in BK. Court Street is already awesome, they are a great addition. Also happy to see a woman POC owned business did not close shop due to COVID. Just like everyone else, I was trying to jazz up my space during quarantine. I really liked the Areaware pots but found that they were just too unreasonably priced. This is a beautiful dupe! I'm glad I waited to go pick this up, b/c items are pricier online. My 2 bags of rocks + soil were $8 each, my pot was $25. They are not repotting right now due to COVID, however, Angelina gave me directions on how to do it and it was actually kind of fun to feel 'one with nature'. She's so patient and great at explaining. And they also answer plant baby questions on Instagram. Am already thinking of an excuse to come back tomorrow. Thanks ladies!

Yelp
Such great customer service here. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I don't know much about plants, so they have guided me along the way! When I went in they didn't have what I came for but called me a few days later to tell me they got my plant in, and they even ran it out to my car. I've now bought 10 plants here for my home and I also bought plants for all my family for Christmas. Cute packaging and care inserts. My young son and I like to come here to pick out plants- he always has so much fun!

Yelp
One of my fav plant shops in BK. The aesthetics are on point. They have really good sales in person.

Yelp
The very best plant lovers work here!!! I had brought in a box full of plants that needed to be re-potted and was greeted with immediate attention and my plants got the affection and love they needed! I picked out some new pots and the extremely Knowledgeable staff potted them for me :) I also got to know all of my plants better because they knew all that there was to know about them!! I highly recommend coming here! It's worth every penny!! High quality pots, people who are friendly and know what they're doing, and really so much love for their craft! Best experience ever getting planters..

Yelp
A friend of mine came here earlier and bought a Desert Gem Cactus. Being that he didn't know any better he purchased a pink Cactus which had been spray painted. This is essentially a gimmicks to get people who don't know much about plants to buy on impulse. I don't know what this was painted with, I can only hope that the pigment in the paint will not harm the plant or affect its ability to photosynthesize. This product also can't be found on the websites but is an eye catcher upon store walk in. Sadly there was no written statement stating that the plant was painted. Don't be fooled.

Yelp
The employees were so helpfuland amazing! The plant is beautiful. The combination of the two is a no brainer! So happy they are in the hood!

Yelp
So excited that The Sill has finally come to Brooklyn! I came in expecting to be overwhelmed with options. But the store was incredibly organized and clean. There was only one staff member working and she was extremely friendly and helpful. The music was chill and the vibe was relaxing. I've been to plenty plant nurseries where I've felt ignored or not taken seriously. I felt so comfortable and excited to be there. All of my questions were answered and I left with many tips and recommendations for my next purchase. The assortment of plants were perfect. I recommend just browsing and you'll find the best plant to go home with
