The Silver Cup

We had a birthday dinner at The Silver Cup and it was fantastic. The service was 10/10 – the staff were incredibly kind and friendly. But what really made the evening special was the food. They serve the best pork dish I’ve ever had – perfectly seasoned and so tender it literally melted in my mouth. An unforgettable meal! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We visited this restaurant for the first time and what a revelation. We had the black pudding scotch egg and the special starter, followed by lamb and a cod. They were all delicious. This may well be the best restaurant in Harpenden. Service was friendly, professional and informative. Thoroughly recommend the Silver Cup

Had a Sunday Roast 20 July 2025. It was delicious, perfectly cooked. Staff were professional. Reservations were for 3pm and we were seated soon after. Great experience, will be returning.

What a mixed bag experience! Took visiting family here after reading the review in Herts Advertiser. The food was delicious as promised. The service left a lot to be desired. We’d booked for 15:30 on a Sunday due to having small children who nap, with the intention of having a late lunch / early dinner. Will save the long version of the story, but ultimately the staff made us feel unwelcome and like we’d inconvenienced them. Pity, because as shared the food was delicious. Wouldn’t go back based on disrespectful staff, treating us like they were doing us a favour by giving us the honour of dining at their restaurant.

Had the roast dinner, lovely venue always friendly. Food was really good, I also had the bread, which was really nice and the sticky toffee pudding (though I was quite full by that point) all around really good place to eat, good price. Only one bit I would change is would like steak knife for the beef

We celebrated getting married at the Silver Cup a few weeks ago, and it was everything we could’ve hoped for. The food was amazing, and the service was friendly and on point—it really made the day special. Everyone who came said they’re planning to come back. We're lucky to have such a great place so close to home.

Mixed review. Very intransigent attitude toward dietary requirements by wait staff. "Will not modify menu items for dietary requirements, too small a kitchen" In the end, the chef was very accommodating and delivered an appropriate addition, much appreciated. Great food, well prepared.

Another superb evening at The Silver Cup, this time to celebrate my wife’s birthday. There are some good restaurants in Harpenden but this is head and shoulders above them all.Excellent food, wine, ambience and service combined to make the perfect night.We had the cod crudo and summer squash to start, which were delicious, and that was followed by the aged rib of beef to share - which is as good a steak as I’ve ever had.Surely it’s not long before they are awarded the Michelin star they so richly deserve.Look forward to seeing you again soon!

In all my years traveling to the London area, this was my first traditional English Pub experience. Great food, drink selection, and atmosphere. Can't recommend it enough. Literally the best food in town!

I eat here regularly. The interior is more like a restaurant than a pub. It has new management and the interior has been renovated to a high standard. The food is also of a very high standard and Sunday lunch is a real treat. Wine list is limited but good value. Excellent choice of beers and cocktails. There is an outside seating area but next to a main road which can be busy. Location next to Harpenden Common is pleasant.

We stayed here at the recommendation of a colleague. Got in late due to traffic, and too tired to venture out so hit up the pub for dinner. WOW! Serendipitous! Highly recommend the octopus salad and the burgers (insanely delicious). Great ambiance (decorated for the holidays). Stop by for a bite and a pint - you won't be dissapointed!
