The Sipp on South Lamar

This is an upscale venue that is good if you’re looking for a wine bar type of vibe. I found the food to be descent. Some dishes better than others. The steak was our favorite dish.

The Sipp is a great place for many occasions. Casual seating outside on the patio or at the bar, more formal seating and atmosphere inside the restaurant. Servers are knowledgable about drink pairing and the menu - and are very patient. The wine and whiskey flights are well-curated and the cocktails are great! I enjoy their small plates best, but their entrees are good as well. The fig bruschetta and the brussel sprouts are among my favorites.

The SIPP is truly a gem in Oxford, MS, offering exceptional food and outstanding service. It’s an absolute must-visit when in town for Ole Miss! We make it a point to stop here on every trip, and the Manager always greets us warmly while crafting one-of-a-kind, spectacular drinks. Exceptional service. Delicious food. Refreshing and dynamic cocktails. The truffle fries are my favorite! Jon, the manager, is wonderful and the entire staff always delivers a fun, warm experience.

Rebecca was our server. She was very kind and attentive. I asked her a ton of questions and she listened to each of them and answered them for me. She gave us excellent recommendations. Finding out it was our anniversary, she provided us some champagne as a special touch. The food was yummy. We shared four half entrees and were filled up. We got the lobster, shrimp Risotto, bruscetta and crab dip. All were delicious. The wine selection was excellent. I got a flight and loved it. The cocktails were great. Honestly it was lovely. The ambiance is great. Will be back for our next night out.

Really neat place. Great shareables made it good dinner for everyone with a little variety. Server was really nice and attentive, occasionally topping off our water. Food came out surprisingly fast and made it better. Atmosphere was a little dark for my liking but that's not a huge issue. They had some basketball games on so i was fine 🙂

March 11th, 2023 Sat at the bar and enjoyed the exceptional selection of bourbon. I didn't dine but can say the food being delivered to the surrounding tables looked and smelled delicious. Our bartender was extremely knowledgeable, she introduced us to a few bourbons we have since sought out. Many thanks.

Small plates and good food: the service is great- but it can be very noisy.... Great for weekend dinners, not great for a quiet date night on weekends.. week nights it is fantastic!!

If I could give more stars I totally would! It was the best time! My friend and I were coming from out of town to go to a concert at the Lyric so we had to find some yummy food beforehand. First off, I love tapas-style restaurants so this peaked my interest right when I saw the menu. There is not a parking lot, but there were some street parking and a lot that you have to pay for. We didn't have any trouble finding a spot close by but a weekend might be a different story. Our waiter was the absolute nicest and he answered any and all questions we had about the menu! For our meal, we ordered crispy Brussels sprouts, Goat cheese and Fig Bruschetta, General Homie's Cauliflower wings, and Beef Empanadas. It was very hard to choose! Everything was full of flavor and really tasty, but if I had to pick one it might have been the Goat cheese and fig Bruschetta and the brussels sprouts are a close second. But all were really good! I order the lady love as my first drink, and I'm not much of a tequila girl, but it was mixed really well and you could taste the strawberry. For my second drink, I asked if the bartender could surprise me with a rum-based drink. When I received it the waiter said you should feel like you were at the beach, and it totally did feel like that! Quite delicious. Wishing this restaurant could move to Memphis because I would go back all the time. If you're in town, definitely check it out, you won't regret it!

Unique restaurant in Oxford! Small plates or Larger. Great menu options for everyone in your party. Sat outside and had excellent service. Tended to by many waiters/es. We went on a Thursday without a reservation but I would recommend. Wine/liquor bar choices were abundant. Absolutely enjoyed our dinner!

We chose this restaurant on a whim and so happy we did! It's a tapas style restaurant and everything we got was amazing! Our waiter was kind and very helpful in explaining how to order and what to get! They had both small and large plates. We would definitely come again!

OMG!!! You have to go to this place!! We were trying to find a place in Oxford that want your typical bar food, and thankfully found The Sip!! We came in right before last call and ordered cauliflower "wings", Brussels sprouts and bruschetta.... 5 stars for each item! I know it's a wine place but I ordered a lemon drop martini and it was excellent Atmosphere was perfect and they have outside dining as well.

If I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars I would. I visited from out of town on a Tuesday night and was seated very quickly. Our waiter was great. Very sociable and well informed when we had questions about the dishes. Everything on the menu looked great but in the end we decided to get the crispy Brussel sprouts, Goat cheese and Fig Bruschetta, and the Beef Empanadas. Each plate was great. It's hard to pick a favorite and you can't go wrong with either. We had only planned on getting three plates but the food was so good we ended up ordering the Cauliflower wings as well which did not disappoint. The drinks were also great! I cannot recommend the key lime pie cocktail enough. It was one of my favorite that I've ever had and tasted exactly like a slice of pie. Everything we had was great I was only sad that I was full and couldn't taste more. Great sultry nighttime atmosphere and they have a spacious outdoor patio. We were able to find parking in a lot but I could see it being more of an issue on the weekend since it seems to be a big college hangout area. Wish we lived closer so I could come back but next time I'm in Oxford I'll be stopping by.

I stopped by this lovely tapa & wine restaurant on the Square because I was hearing from friends to check it out. Upon entering it has beautiful decor with TVs at the bar for sports. I sat at the bar to indulge in the drinks & light bites. They have an extensive wine list with even multiple options of port wine, which I love! And they offer flights. I ordered the goat cheese & fig bruschetta and was able to add some pieces of prosciutto to it because I didn't need an entire board. I was grateful for that & it was delicious! I had two of their signature cocktails which were good but not anything exciting. The chicken fettuccine pasta was ok. I could've tried something else. Overall, it's a beautiful spot to catch up with friends and share some food items and enjoy some wine!

We attended a surprise birthday party here on a Monday night The girl that served us was very nice and quick to bring whatever we requested. The charcuterie board was delicious! The meats, cheese, and cream cheese bread was perfect for the large crowd. The atmosphere inside is dark and quiet. I would love this for a date night. This might sound weird, but I loved the bathroom decor! Bright red / hot pink lips wallpaper ascended the black/white flooring and cabinets.

Beware! They stop serving seating/serving food an hour and a half before close (we have been turned away at 8:30 when they close at 10). It doesn't say anywhere and the girls at the front don't really seem to know the exact time they're going stop serving food over the phone. That's the only reason for 2 stars getting docked. Great food, Mae Hellen is sent from heaven! So delicious! Our server was so awesome and is such a cool dude. Had tons of recommendations for things to do around the city as well as some night life around town. This place would get so much more business if they just stuck to the hours online and on the door! Bummer.

McKinley was our waitress tonight and I've truly never had customer service this incredible in Oxford. My boyfriend and I were celebrating my birthday and she made our night! She was just overly so thoughtful and kind. We loved her and will be coming back to see her again!

Best bourbon and wine bar in Oxford! Food is delicious but small servings. Staff is friendly and very accommodating! I definitely recommend this place! Smoked old fashioned is the best in town.

Good lord. How I loathe self proclaimed "tapas" restaurants. Just call it 'small plates' and be done with it. I was super excited to see the list of bourbon until I saw the prices. Holy markup Batman! Also, the charcuterie board was one of the saddest I've ever had. This place really seems to a be a club disguising itself as a restaurant. This is one of those places where you'll drop a bill and wonder what you got for it.

very mid food, not really worth the price compared to other things on the square. Management is absolutely horrible and has no respect for their employees. Would say 2.5 stars for food, ZERO for management, but hostesses seemed very nice!! Overall, not going to support a place with no respect for who does most of the work.

I loved the ambience of this place! The wait staff was so kind and knowledgeable. They were able to help me choose which charcuterie slate to select. I will definitely be coming back if I ever make my way back to Oxford.

Amazing food, service and location! The drinks are top tier as well! Definitely consider getting one of the bottles of wine, one of the best selections I've ever seen.

Ate here for the first time this past Friday. I had very high hopes for the food - especially if it matched the decor and menu. My son and I ordered the catch of the day, which was grouper. First the fish was chewy - like it had been frozen OR possibly just too old. Second, it was waaay over salted/seasoned. There was a pesto on the fish which was somewhat complimentary but the "orange" substance around the plate should not have ever been there. I am from a coastal town, so I do happen to know good seafood.

Sip has turned into an Oxford staple practically overnight. I have never had a bad experience there until this last time. Everything was perfectly fine with our night until our waitress was talked very down upon for simply talking to a coworker for a split second. Someone came out of the kitchen, and instead of pulling her off to the side to speak with her, he proceeded to get on to her in front of my table. Which I thought was unprofessional because my waitress was obviously flustered the rest of the night. I only write this because I care for Sip and want nothing but the best for the establishment. Like I said in the beginning, Sip is a great restaurant that I would advise everyone to try when in Oxford. Specifically try the "Mae Halen".

Great service and cocktails. Shared a table full of small plates. Favorites were the Brussels sprouts, and the goat cheese/fig bruschetta. The fettuccine was creamy and flavorful. Will def return. Cool atmosphere.

It took me way to look to finally eat at The Sipp.. From the second you walk in it's such a great experience - the atmosphere, unique menu, & reasonable prices, to so much more. Definitely looking forward to my next visit very soon!

My husband and I dined at the Sipp for the first time tonight. The menu offered a good varity of small and large plates. We ordered small plates of Latin Spiced Meatballs, cauliflower wings, and goat cheese and fig bruschetta. It was good and enough to fill both of us up (big eaters will probably want more small plates or a couple large). Jackson, our server, was friendly, very knowledgable about the menu, and helped us with our selections. Restaurant has a cool vibe and a good selection of wines and cocktails. We enjoyed it.

Overpriced, mediocre food with extremely small portions. Drinks are overpriced as well - even during happy hour.....with the noted exception of the house wine special. The place is clean, but is dark, relatively small, and from a vibe perspective seems sort of out of place for Oxford, MS. The patio area (out by the front door) isn't a bad area to hang out (depending upon weather)....but that still doesn't change the menu or the prices. I'm not sure what their objective target clientele will be once the newness wears off among the Ole Miss student and faculty population. Perhaps they'll be able to survive on catering to the older, well-heeled Oxford money that lives in town all year.... or maybe the intermittent out of town business brought in by Ole Miss football game-goers and visiting parents who are simply bent on going out somewhere near the downtown Square regardless of the cost or quality. The wait staff and bar tenders all seemed to be great college-age kids. Very friendly and attentive.

The worst meal I've ever had. Waiter was nice enough wasn't his fault. Braised Rib, lol ummmh that's called Chuck roast dude. No braised rib her guys. Salad with fried chicken. Chicken ice cold like you know when nuggets sit in the box over night and the batter is like a hockey puck. This is purely a wine and drink lounge do not eat here, gross.

We were so excited to try out this new hidden gem in Oxford. Large booths make this nightspot a good local for groups.m and the decor is reminiscent of a big city club. The charcuterie plate was fairly impressive and the honey is a nice touch, but with so many toppings it needs many more crackers and an explanation by the waiter as to the identities of the items would have been nice. The meatballs are unconventional in their use of chili powder. The dessert menu was sadly lacking and no port was available - despite the extensive wine menu. The custom mojito was a pleasant surprise. Hopefully the management will take these comments to heart and we will make this one of our regular Oxford locations.

This is my favorite place in Oxford. The bar staff is second to none. Emily is the BEST bar manager. Cody, Courtney, Tom, Cross, and Mike Gundy Jr. (just ask) are the best. They make you feel so welcome and can accommodate any drink or food request. I can't recommend this place enough.

Love this place. Cocktails wonderful and food Fantastic! Sampled lots of wonderful small plates:Brussels sprouts, house made fettuccine with chicken. Pork and greens, coq au vin, and amazing spinach salad. Waitress was sweet and really enjoyed our evening!

Wine bar with great ambiance, delicious food and wonderful service. I knocked off a star for the wine itself. A wide selection of wine was available by the glass, but not really a good one. Also, all three of my red wines were served warm despite the fact that they have a large red wine chiller/dispenser on display.

This place is fantastic. I mean after all, this place is managed by the best, The local liquor legend Johnny LiDorsey. So not exactly a surprise. Everything from the lamb chops to the ice cream Sunday will have you screaming "Ohhh Johnny!!!" The ambience is second to none, half the time they have Johnny Li singing live music and covering some of the Dorsey Brothers best hits. Do yourself a favor and make sure to ask for Johnny Li and tell him what a great place he runs.

Love this place. Wine selections are excellent along with other liquor/alcohol choices. The staff were great and thanks to Luke for suggestions. My only criticism was the charcuterie board are very small for what you pay.

Had an anniversary that my wife made reservations for when she was in the night before. The waiter came to the table with complimentary champagne and remembered my wife's name even though he wasn't her waiter the night before. The place is beautiful and definitely worth a try

Fabulous! I can't say enough great things about this place. Food is delicious, drink selection is like no other place in Oxford and I love the decor. You can tell AJ and Claire have put their heart and soul in this place.

This restaurant has the BEST atmosphere in Oxford! We had a large party and the service was fabulous. The wine selection is amazing and my husband loved the scotch selection.

The french press was delicious! A great place for drinks and small plates! Will be back!

Absolutely loved having Sam as our waiter. He was a delight & super knowledgeable about the whole menu. The food was delicious & we will for sure be back. If you are visiting Oxford & want a hip fun place to eat, SIP is the place!

Excellent wine list. My table of 8 tried 5 different appetizers and 7 different entrees. Everyone enjoyed. Great atmosphere and incredible service. We will all be back!

This place is FANTASTIC!! Great ambience. Delicious menu. The wine list is killer with great options for tasting, by the glass or bottle. (T/G/B on the menu). The bar staff, hostess and waiters were friendly and attentive despite how busy and crowded it was. Can't wait to go back! Loved the decor and cool bar chairs. We had the chicken confit (SO GOOD) and the deviled egg special was avocado with jalapeño and a tortilla on top also got the olives with feta. Delicious.

Beautiful decor, great ambiance. Extensive wine selection & cocktail menu. Our group loved the homemade biscuits with flavored butters ! Very friendly staff.

Great food and service. Nice atmosphere. Our group of four gave it a thumbs up. Maybe the earlier bad reviews were the result of start up pains but I've had two good experiences there and certainly would go again.

Manager and Owner were very rude! They ran out of food and just served half of a serving and charged for the whole serving. When we asked about it they laughed and walked away. Will never go back! Rip off

Sipp was a disappointment. We were a party of 10. We ordered deviled eggs, bruschetta and meatballs for starters. They brought out the apps at different times and ran out of the eggs and told us after the bruschetta was on the table. The staff was flustered, the meatballs were cold, yep, I think they are microwaved! The fig and goat cheese bruschetta was ok, but I was expecting a little more real fig for the cost. We spent 600.00! They included 20% gratuity. My meal never arrived and my son took his to go because we were ready to leave after sitting for 2.5 hours waiting for food! What a waste of a good Saturday night in Oxford and 600.00! We literally left angry and went home to order pizza! Nice decor, fun concept BUT don't waste your time here like we did. Don't go here hungry, it is just a wine bar!

Cocktails and atmosphere were great. Food excellent. However obviously having problems in kitchen. One member of our party did not receive his food until everyone else in party had finished. Frankly had already paid the check. Staff did a poor job communicating they were having a problem. Food was really good, but delay in getting the plates negatively impacted the experience.

Unprofessional service. I called to make a reservation and was told I could come in at 6:30 but I will need to leave by 8:30 as they have another reservation coming in. As 7:30 rolled around our waitress told us we needed to start to wrap up. We were handed our checks but were under the impression we had another hour before we needed to leave. 15 min later the manager came over, cleared our entire table and once again told us we needed to leave as we still had 3 full drinks on the table. After about the 3rd employee told us to leave, well before 8:30, we finally got up and left. I will not be returning to a place that fails to honor their reservation policy and acts so unprofessional!

A small issue with our food was met with a very rude and disrespectful response from management. I expected much more from an up and coming restaurant trying to break into the tightly-knit Oxford wine/culinary scene. Whatever happened to people in the service business treating customers with respect?

Amazing food and beautiful atmosphere!! The waiters are so helpful and very kind. The chef is very talented and everything from appetizers to entrees were so flavorful! They also have small plates and large plates so you can choose which portion you want! Great restaurant!
