Pizzeria With a Patio Pops Up in Bankers Hill | Eater San Diego

"I see it as a celebration of sisterhood: the 1,000-square-foot eatery on the corner of Fourth and Brookes Avenue is a friendly new spot for New York/New Jersey–style pizza and classic Italian comfort food. Decorated with photos of family and friends, Sisters Pizza pays tribute to owner Emily Green’s late sister Kate, with signature pies named for their favorite bands and TV shows — from the Modest Mouse (red sauce and mozzarella) to the Uncle Jesse (ricotta, mozzarella, and fresh basil). The thoroughly remodeled 1930s building features a shaded, 60-seat patio; the menu offers pizza by the slice and whole pies in 16-, 18-, and 20-inch sizes that can be customized, plus gluten-free crusts and vegan pies. Executive chef Mark Damiano, a Long Island native who trained at Johnson & Wales and worked in pizzerias like Mr. Moto Pizza House and Surfrider Pizza, leans on family recipes for fresh sauces, housemade sausage, and dishes such as eggplant parmesan, spaghetti and meatballs, and gnocchi with mushrooms and pea shoots, with appetizers, salads, and sandwiches available as well. Open daily 11 a.m.–10 p.m. with a weekday happy hour from 4–7 p.m., Sisters Pizza will also spotlight different charitable organizations each month and plans to launch weekend brunch in July with bottomless mimosas, pastries, and breakfast pizzas." - Candice Woo

The pizza here was really good every time but recently they don’t take Apple Pay and the pizza quality is down. It was almost unbearable to finish my slice it tasted like school pizza.

Well it’s been a year. Upgrading these guys from 4 stars to 5. They deserve it. This is the best slice you’ll get for 2.75 on this Ave for sure. It’s a nice plain cheese slice. The guys are ALWAYS nice, kind. They always have tunes playing. I always see them cleaning. Makes me feel safe eating here. Just a nice place :) happy to support this small business

Google
They got the best slices around. Anything under a 4 stars doesn't do them justice.

Sisters is great quality for the Jackson Heights neighborhood. They use good ingredients & their base is decent. But JH is severely lacking in good pizza as a whole. Do NOT order through their SLICE App. The pizza takes over an hour to an hour & a half to arrive and is cold. Customer service is awful. I had to call them 3 times & get on their chat twice. They have a no refund policy. We finally got our pizza 2hrs & 20 mins after we ordered and it was brick cold.

Pizza was undercooked and the cheese was all over the inside of the box. The calzones were almost solely cheese. However, the garlic knots were very good. Would only go again for the garlic knots. Pass on everything else.

I decided to try Sisters Pizza. The pizzas taste okay, They were huge slices but nothing about them were a must have. I do have to give a low rating to whomever that girl with the glasses at the register was. And I do mean girl, not woman, as she does not appear to be over the age of 18. I walked in to pick up my order. At first I thought she was having a conversation with her co-worker. But I started speaking and she kept talking while the other worker took care of me. I realized she was having a conversation on her wireless earphones. While I waited for my order, I observed the yapping girl just kept talking and talking, blah blah blah, even when another customer needed assistance. The other worker had to help her with him too. Afterwards she gets up and starts to "clean" the tables. While still blathering away on her airpods. At that point my order was ready and I left. Thank goodness for her that it's only a small business. If this were a corporate business, she most likely would have gotten the pink slip special. I doubt she's worth the NYC minimum wage of $15. More like the Federal wage of $7.25.

Google
Amazing that they now serve vegan cheese! I know numerous people in Jackson Heights who seek non-dairy pizza, and there are few options. Thanks for adding to the menu—my family will be ordering regularly!

Google
Worst pizza by far in the neighborhood. Inside service is the worst and if you order by phone they just hang up.

Yelp
My thing is I usually get a plain slice to gauge the taste and quality of the place. The slice I got was good. It was crispy and the sauce was decent. No flop. No complaints. The staff was nice and friendly. I remember coming to this same spot for pizza back in the early 80's when I used to go to PS69. The owner back then is long gone but this place remained a pizzeria under new management.

Yelp
Solid pizza by the slice at this no nonsense pizza joint. Would definitely go back anytime I was in Jackson Heights.

Yelp
Their food doesn't even taste Italian anymore. Flavor quality went downhill fast when the prices skyrocketed even faster. $30 for a rubbery grease soaked Gramma pie from a previous order. I'm done ordering from them...

Yelp
The pizza here does not disappoint! Their veggie slice is always packed with delicious vegetables and they are very generous with their slice sizes. Their beef Patties are also very good along with their grandma slice. Definitely give them a try if you're in the Jackson Heights neighborhood, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Popped into Sister's for a quick slice. We asked for our slices to be cooked "well done." A few minutes later our pipping hot slices came out of the oven. The plain slice: Thin crust, with a nice snap to it. The sauce was not noteworthy. The cheese was plentiful but not overwhelming. The grandma corner slice was really good, although I would have liked it with a bit more sauce. The garlic knots are dense little belly bombs and are not worth it. Good little local spot.

Yelp
Sisters Pizza is one of the top pizza spots in Jackson Heights! I got the buffalo chicken, Hawaiian, and Caesar slice. All slices came with a VERY generous amount of toppings. The crust on their pizzas are fairly thin and comes with a crunch which is just how I like them. Buffalo Chicken: 5/5 This was my favorite slice out of the 3. A good amount of bbq sauce where it doesn't overpower the taste of everything else. Generous amount of chicken. It felt like I was able to get a bit of chicken in every bite. Hawaiian: 4/5 Solid slice, LOTS of pineapple. I would've preferred a teeny bit less pineapple and a bit more ham. Nonetheless pineapple does belong on pizza !! Caesar: 3/5 The Caesar was pretty unique. It consisted of lettuce, grilled chicken, and croutons on a bed of Caesar dressing. Was cool to try but I probably wouldn't get it again.

Yelp
Love their pizza. This was the place I would get pizza after school with my mom and sibling and friends. It was sold to different ppl, and now its back to how it was. Pizza is yummy!!! Service is great!

Yelp
I have to say that Sister's Pizza is the BEST! I got a slice of pizza with mushrooms and when they gave it to me I realized that it also had flecks of fresh garlic on it too. It was so delicious! I went to the counter and told the pizza makers that the fresh garlic made all the difference! But really the crust has delicious flavor and it's the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. I would post a picture but I ate the slice so fast I forgot to take one. Maybe I'll share a photo next time. I've also enjoyed their eggplant pizza. So go now! Treat yourself to one of the best slices you'll ever have!

Yelp
My favorite local pizzeria in the neighborhood! This place is always great for a quick bite for lunch or dinner. The slices are bigger than average and always consistent. The workers are friendly and the service is fast. If you pop in around noon, the pies are fresh out of the oven and if you come later in the day (near closing) they'll still have a couple of specialty slices, pepperoni, plain, white, etc.

Yelp
I love the lady who was refilling the drinks. The Hawaiian Punch brought me back to the 80's of drinking the cold savoring drink. The pizza was really good for the first time I ate it.

Yelp
Ate here today by myself on a not so cold Sunday afternoon. I had ordered and brought only a slice of pizza which was just cheese without any toppings. The service there was also good. I didn't wait too long to wait and get my order that it was super quick, attentive and fast. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again! :)

Yelp
Pizza was a little salty and I prefer a thinner, crispier crust on my pizza. It was ok, but I don't think I'll go back

Yelp
Well I asked light on sauce and they don't read. I also ordered thru Yelp and when I got there is when they found the order after blaming me for not ordering, for would've been good if they read
