On the Grid : The Six Restaurant

"With its rustic, prohibition-era wood interior, you immediately get the impression that you’ve made a good dining choice as you step into this gastropub on Pico Boulevard. And the food absolutely lives up to the atmosphere. Whether it’s lunch, dinner, or the popular weekend brunch you’re here for, their constantly evolving menu offers plenty to satisfy new and repeat diners. Our recommendation: every visit must include at least one order of the Truffle Mac n Cheese." - Clever Creative

On the Grid : Backhouse Sushi

"This is an all around great Sushi place, but the thing that makes it extra special is that they have not one, but TWO happy hours! Even when it’s not happy hour here though, the place is very affordable. What sets this place apart from other Sushi joints is the oysters ($1 during Happy Hour) and Yakatori, which is Japanese style grilled chicken on a skewer. It can be a bit crowded for the early happy hour, but the later one (10pm to close) crowding is not an issue." - Clever Creative

The LA Sports Bar Directory

"They’re a restaurant first and foremost, but with a couple TVs nestled by the sleek bar, Westside is a low-key spot to watch a game and try a wide variety of flatbreads and sandwiches." - kat hong, james montgomery

Cool vibes and good food. Love the atmosphere here. Pretty small place, intimate lighting and nothing but the best hits of the 80s on speaker. I got the Six Burger and I thought the patty was surprisingly good. Salted perfectly and had a great Maillard. Everything else about it was fine, not awful but nothing to write home about either. The fries were a let down though. They needed to be more crispy and lacked any seasoning. But overall, I’d go back.

My server was Steve and we came for a friends birthday. Steve was really attentive despite being the only server. Our food was delicious and it was just a vibe to chill out here. We had a Peach Royal pizza, Italian Pizza and chicken and waffles. Very satisfied would come again.

Brian and the Six staff are incredibly thoughtful. They hosted my birthday party on a Sunday night. They were told to expect 20 max, but over 30 showed up. So they let us use the tables we needed while serving other patrons perfectly. They were also mindful from the beginning about setting separate tabs for everyone. I’m so grateful for a wonderful night. We all ate and drank nicely, and, more importantly, we were able to converse and hear each other. Thank you!

Like the vibe although I have a few issues. My burger was super well done. I wasn't asked what temperature I wanted, which typically means medium. This burger was WELL done, dry and crumbly. Where is the staff? There's one bartender who is the only server. I counted over 40 people in the restaurant at 5pm on a Saturday and there's not enough staff. My other issue is that there's a labor surcharge on the bill that wasn't disclosed and isn't on the menu. In that case, I'm just subtracting it from the tip. It wasn't a bad experience, but not good enough to come back.

We are outside in the patio area. There was an event happening inside the restaurant. Patio was a bit small but casual and cozy. Service was great. Bartender was really nice and invited us back for brunch. Family friendly. We weren’t the only ones there with kids.

This is the best bar/restaurant in town. The quality is very solid. You can’t go wrong with anything you get. From the Pizza to the burgers. They also have quality salmon salads and elevated dishes. Brian always takes care of us and makes amazing drinks. He even made a fresh margarita mix from scratch with no added sweetener. This place feels like home. Very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.

My new spot. Pizza is authentically flavored and one of the best crusts I’ve enjoyed. They have in many varieties. Tried their flatbread and we finished off with their garlic fries. Very friendly people who suggested an awesome pairing with my preferred IPA. Particularly loved the ambiance, cool friendly vibe, still kept the LA scene expectation minus the uneasiness. Simply put, cool place to hang. Pics to follow.
