11 NYC Spots Showing Outdoor Movies - New York - The Infatuation

"If you have access to a car, consider heading to this Greenpoint spot right on the East River. They show a few different outdoor movies (including new releases) every day with screenings starting at 9pm. This summer, you can watch Tom Cruise recklessly demonstrate why he's (still) in the top one percent of all naval aviators. Each ticket costs $55 and covers your entire car up to seven people, but you can also show up without a car and pay $19.50 for an individual seat. Make a reservation here." - hannah albertine, kenny yang

Arrived around 7p on a Friday. There were plenty of prime spots available. Pizza is always good. We tried the milkshakes this time and they were great on a hot night. The movie viewing experience is excellent. There are speakers on the awnings so if you park close enough then you don't need to rent one.

Staff is super friendly. Grounds are always clean and kept up. The food is really fantastic! We love coming here with our 3 kids - all of whom love the arcade games!

Took the family last weekend for our first time at Skyline and was we had a blast. Good food, movie quality was good but was difficult to see in the back row but not a big deal we moved up during the second movie. Concessions stayed open even past the last movie which was great. We went with a new vehicle so I suggest figuring our how to turn your lights off and leave radio on before you go. You cant beat $30 for the whole family.

Always a good time. Unique cinematic offerings and events. Fast and friendly service. Lots of reasonably priced food options

My wife and I came her last night to watch Snow White. I was surprised at how nice it was. The food was decent and the staff was friendly. I was impressed by how big the projector screen was. And listening to the movie’s audio through our car’s radio was cool. Allowed us to sit in our own comfy car with the volume at the level we wanted it.

We went with family and had a great time! It had been years since we had been to a drive-in. Skyline does it right! Great facilities, parking spots, and the food menu superb.....great popcorn....buttered of course!!

We had the best time here! We went here for the Super Mecha Monster Mash, it was a compilation of horror movies. We arrived at 11pm but movies were showing earlier and going until about 4am. Tickets for two people to go to the event was $33.06 total. Which we thought was reasonable, we only stayed for one movie but this included access to the entire event. This was a Friday night and we didn’t have any issues finding parking. The lot itself is very dark and hard to see so be careful when walking. The screen was easy to see and the audio came through the car very clearly. We were surprised with how good the quality was. The food are was great. They have an entire menu, milkshakes, hot meals, snacks, drinks, candy. We got a chicken sandhwich, milkshake, and popcorn and it was a great deal for everything. It all tasted great. Behind the food hall is an arcade if you wanted to play games too. We went with a girls group and were able to park 3 cars next to each other and set up chairs outside to watch. We would absolutely go back. Photo below is my $7 popcorn bucket that was larger than my entire head. Worth getting!

Google
Skyline is the best! They show the coolest movies and the food and atmosphere are wonderful. My fiance and I love coming here when we can. It's so cool they have a pinball arcade now too.

Yelp
Another great trip to Skyline! They're continually upping their game on the food experience. Ordering in the app is easy and convenient and now... they've added an express lane option for those fast things like drinks, popcorn and refills! The arcade has been updated as well with a lot of fun pinball machines and other cool games.

Yelp
Our first drive-in experience was a BLAST! Pro-tip: read the website before you go so that way you're up on all the rules ahead of time. No outside food or drink is allowed, but with tickets only being $8 for an adult, I was more than okay supporting their concession stand to help keep the drive-in alive. Gates open at 6, so we arrived at 6:30 & were only the second car there! But for a first experience, I was glad we arrived early so that we could pick the seats we wanted, play some arcade games & grab a pizza for dinner without being rushed. Pets are allowed! We didn't bring our dog this time but that would be fun for next time!

Yelp
Excellent drive-in and food! Love their pizza and special menu items! It's also great they help other small businesses such as Spegal's Meats by serving their beef jerky. Highest recommendation!

Yelp
This is the ONLY cool thing left in Shelbyville. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the ambience and spirit of this place so much.. We started working there. Such an amazing place to have a nostalgic experience.

Yelp
Wonderful way to spend an evening. Old fashion fun- cheap, bring a lawn chair, add a game of cards or yard jarts before you go and you can have a really cheap family event. Don't forget to spray yourself with bug spray or bring a citronella candle for the mosquitos. Don't forget your blanket....pillow.....it gets cold out there!! The only negative comment I have is for anyone that has asthma..trouble breathing, etc... they still allow people to smoke!! Make sure your not parked next to a car load of chain smokers... we did and had to sit in the car with the windows up... SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THAT!! Nice concession stand with awesome food!! Enjoy!!! So glad we can still enjoy the drive-ins.

Yelp
Monster movie fests. Cheesy, bloody horror. Original 35mm film. I loved this place. Get there early for a good spot! After picturing in my head that this is basically going to be exactly like Grease, I was surprised that there was no speaker to hook onto your car, you just tune your FM radio to a low bandwidth station. The popcorn is so well priced, they're basically giving it away. The staff is wonderful as well.

Yelp
Great local place, just outside of town about 1 mile, to take the kids, family, or a date for something a lil different than a normal indoor movie theater. This throwback staple to the 1950's way to watch movies in your car is one of the few left and it is doing well. They start the movies at dusk and sometimes play them until dawn. They are open most of the year, and way longer than any other cold weather drive-in theater that I know. Halloween is a big time for them showing all types of scary movies. This retro place also has an old style arcade that you rarely see now days and has some great food choices at decent prices when you get the munchies. Grab a hot dog, some popcorn and an old fashioned root beer and relax in your vehicle and enjoy the movies. They usually have just released and recently released movies playing, and usually play them all night long. Come out for a fun experience and enjoy the old way movies used to be enjoyed.

Yelp
We LOVE the Skyline!!! We go as often as possible. I've been coming here since I was a child and it's never been better. The staff is so, so friendly and it is always clean and well-maintained. I haven't had anything from the snack bar that I wouldn't suggest...it's all delicious and fair priced. (Try the brownie sundae or the chili cheese fries, my faves)!

Yelp
Every time we go to this place it gets better. On a whim we were going to go and watch finding Dory July 2 and we came to find out that it was fireworks night +3 extra movies! When we got there the lot was already full but we were able to park outside and come in with blankets which actually got is a front row seat to the movie!! I guess the most important part of this place is that they're not just another drive-in theater; they're a family focused and fun event place! A perfect mix of new movies and new projector technology with old commercials and a classic feel. We went there for an Easter egg hunt in April and are looking forward to more events all year long!! The staff is seriously excellent and friendly which really makes the entire experience congeal into the best time ever!!

Yelp
Fantastic drive-in! I live within 15 mins to the one on Tibbs, but I drive 45 mins to this one; that should tell you something! The food is amazing. Great variety and really good prices. They have an arcade to check out while you're waiting for the movies to come on! I LIVE for Super Monster Movie Fest in August; dusk til dawn movies Friday night through Saturday morning! Staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend!

Yelp
My family and I have visited this drive-in twice now and we love it! This is by far my favorite drive-in I've been to! As all drive-ins you'll want to get there early to get a good spot. They have a lot of food and snacks to choose from! I love that they have Cheerwine soda and Triple XXX Root Beer, both very tasty and you get a ticket with your soda for a free refill! They have ice cream as well, so make a root beer float if you like! They keep the grounds very clean have trash cans all around, that's a plus from me. The staff is very friendly, look for neighbor ned he's awesome, very friendly guy! Sometime's you'll see neighbor ned walking around selling cotton candy and treats like you were at a ballpark! Neighbor Ned also runs the arcade building that sits in the back of the theater grounds, I haven't visited the arcade building yet but maybe next time. One other thing I want to bring up about this drive-in that is very cool is they play the National Anthem to start the night off! They allow you to bring your pups with you as well which is pretty cool, don't have to leave them at home. Make this long story short, if you like drive-ins as much as my family and I do, I really think you would not be disappointed if you give Skyline a try. From now on this is the drive-in theater my family and I will make memories at.

Yelp
Super great venue! The staff is amazing and the food is honestly really good and very reasonably priced. It's so charming that these drive-in movie theaters still even exist! Final Verdict: If I lived nearby I'd frequent this drive-in regularly.

Yelp
I love the movies they pick, the food/ticket prices, the friendly staff, the retro ads, and their dog-friendliness! Their themed movie nights are a ton of fun. I even get secretly excited about their expansive food menu, even if it's just concession-quality junk food. Just a lovely night every time we go to Skyline.

Yelp
This place is worth the trip. It's hard to beat the nostalgia of an old school drive inn. It's only $8 and you get two movies. The snack bar isn't just your ordinary snack bar. They have full pizzas, hamburgers, tenderloins nachos, candy, corndogs, and all the other movie theatre staples. The prices are reasonable as well. We got 2 boxes of candy, small pop corn, and 2 drinks for $13. That would have cost double at an AMC or regal. I was proud of my girlfriend. She usually puts an entire burrito in her purse to take to the movies, but she respected the fact of supporting a small business on this trip.

Yelp
This is a great place. I prefer Skyline to Tibbs Drive-In because I like the rural feel of Skyline (it's basically out amongst the corn fields). The consession stand, staff, location, atmosphere are all great. They've even got a pretty cool arcade out back. I try to make it out there at least a couple times per season. It's definitely worth checking out during October when they show some older horror movies for the Halloween season. Go support your local drive-in!

Yelp
This place is a joke. Popcorn tasted like to was 2 days old. The coke tasted like a generic soft drink. After sitting there staring at black screen they said they couldn't show the movie but refused to refund money. Would only give a free pass. Like I would return. Luckily paid with my debit card so I just called chase to get my money back.
