Best Restaurants in Livermore, Pleasanton, and Dublin | Eater SF

"San Francisco fans of chef Charles Phan and his modern Vietnamese food have patiently awaited the reopening of the Ferry Building location of Slanted Door, which has long been closed for renovation since the pandemic. But the Tri-Valley has enjoyed Slanted Door since its opening in 2019. The cellophane noodles and shaking beef have long been staples on the menu, and the grapefruit jicama salad remains a refreshing start to the meal." - Dianne de Guzman

Visited to celebrate a birthday. The food is expensive but very delicious. Our party thought the ingredients were really high quality. We especially enjoyed the fish, chicken clay pot, and appetizers such as papaya salad and spring rolls. The restaurant is very big and a great place for special occasions. Our waitress was really nice and helpful so service was exceptional.

I’ve been a Slanted Door fan since their days at the San Francisco Ferry Building. The San Ramon location is consistent in their food, quality and service. Nothing better than having some of the staples such as the imperial rolls, cellophane crab noodles and shaking beef. But they also introduce new items on the menu so there’s a good circulation of items to try! I also appreciate how they want to get to know you. It speaks to the family business the chef, Charles Phan, built from a small restaurant on Valencia Street. You’ll realize many are an extension of his family and the long-time colleagues/employees are committed to their loyal customers and to the business. The Happy Hour options are a must-try as well. First two photos are the Happy Hour appetizers that vary from $8-10.

Love the food here. The imperial rolls and spring rolls are good that we finished so fast. Chicken claypot is tasty 😋 Baked black cod is superb and definitely worth trying. Staff is friendly and nice. Definitely will be back.

This place is awesome. If you are in the mood for Asian style food with some extra delicious fusion touches , this is the right place. Vietnamese flavours, served family style, great drinks, an extensive wine and bourbon selection, coupled with fantastically friendly, helpful servers will make this dining experience one to remember. Head to bed after dinner feeling satisfied that you did something nice for yourself today!! 10 out of 10 would eat here again.

Google
Slanted Door has been serving up delicious healthful Vietnamese food for a long time in the Bay Area. Very happy to report that new location maintain the same consistency - whether it is classics like spring or imperial rolls, crab vermicelli, shaking beef, or newer dishes like Chinese style duck, oysters, roast salmon, and pork chop. Service is warm and attentive, friendly and professional at the same time.

Google
Gluten free Imperial rolls was a winner! We could have just had a few orders of it and call it a night! Of course I forgot to take a picture of it. Mark gave great service!

My friends and I recently enjoyed a group lunch at Slanted Door in San Ramon. The restaurant boasts a convenient location within a shopping center. We tried many of their lunch dishes, and none of them disappointed! A standout dish was their signature Shaking Beef. While the price might seem a bit high, it's definitely worth trying for the exceptional flavor and quality. Additionally, the pho noodle soup deserves high praise – some of the best we've had. We made a reservation beforehand, which turned out to be unnecessary as the restaurant wasn't particularly crowded during the time we visited. However, it's worth noting that parking at Bishop Garage can get tricky on Saturday mornings when the farmer's market is in full swing. We circled the top floor of Bishop Garage a few times before finding a spot. Overall, we had a fantastic lunch experience at Slanted Door. The delicious food and inviting atmosphere make it a place we'll definitely revisit, especially to explore their dinner menu.

This Slanted Door location has quite a large dining room and outdoor patio space in the upscale Bishop’s Ranch shopping center in San Ramon. Blonde wood floors, marble tabletops, and black accents throughout. Definitely a good spot for celebrations, in addition to simply enjoying a nice dinner out. My husband and I dined with two friends, sharing six dishes family style between us—family style is the preferred method of ordering here. We started with the daikon rice cakes, which were one of the highlights of the meal for me! The texture was impressive: somewhat creamy, somewhat spongy, with the light pepperiness of the daikon radish. Another favorite for me was the wood-roasted and dry-aged duck. The duck was cooked to perfection, offering a bit of crunch with each bite of skin and a milder-than-most gaminess to the meat. Nice accompanying hoisin sauce as well. I also thought the shaking beef, served with a vibrant lime sauce, was delicious. Shaking beef has been a favorite of mine since I first tried it at Golden Garlic on the Peninsula years ago. I love how a good crust can seal in great prime rib flavor with every bite, and the Slanted Door’s was no exception. We also shared the stir-fried bok choy, cellophane noodles with gulf shrimp and Dungeness crab, and the shrimp and pork imperial rolls. Those were all good, but not as notable as the previous dishes. The cocktails were expertly made, offering unique versions on classic tiki cocktails, and it takes skilled bartenders to pull that off well. My Singapore Sling—Glendalough gin, benedictine, cherry heering, cointreau, fresh pressed pineapple, lime, angostura bitters—was a delight, and everyone enjoyed their first round picks. It did take a while for our waiter to come by, but he was an excellent server for the rest of our meal, making some recommendations and advising us on how much food to order.

Yelp
Came here with a friend and was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the food! We ordered the shaken beef, whole fish, bak choy and yuba noodles... quite a lot for just two of us. My fav is the shaken beef it was very tender and well seasoned. The service was also very good and the lady deboned the fish for us at our table. The yuba noodle was also good. Of course it's pricey but it was his treat Will be back again.

Yelp
Very disappointed with our dinner. Especially since the San Francisco location has been a favorite for many years. Our shaken beef was tough and not flavorful ($54!) and the chicken thighs (organic chicken pot)were inedible. Automatic 20% tip so our server had not incentive to check in on us. They must be counting on expense accounts from the local tech businesses to support the prices.
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice ambiance but overpriced indeed Came here on a weekday for dinner and the place was quite full with many business dinners Ingredients are very high quality Dishes are definitely westernized If you are going for ambiance this is the place to go But if you are craving for Vietnamese food you'd better go to a local pho place
google avatar

Yelp
The place has a lot of potentials since it is in a nice area, good ambience & I love how attentive the servers were. Prior to coming here, I already read reviews & for objectivity's sake, they gotta improve on some of the food they serve. We ordered a lot but got disappointed with the pho being served cold & their roasted chicken still bleeding. That is the only thing that threw us off. For a 3 person meal & almost $400 tab is a little bit too much, given the size of the servings & quality of their food.

Yelp
The flavors were OK but nothing to write home to mom about it seemed like this was a fusion restaurant service was amazing but the food was lacking and a bit overpriced

Yelp
I've been going to Slanted Door since it was a hole in the wall in the Mission back in the late 90's. After the fire that destroyed their original location, they eventually moved to the Ferry Building where it was reimagined as a more upscale cocktail bar and restaurant. The San Ramon extension is a nice place to go for a business lunch or special occasion. The expense account would help, as the value proposition is pretty rough when you look at what you get for the money. The food is good, but it's not spectacular. Recently, I had imperial rolls, shaking beef (one of the original menu items for decades) and the crispy skin chicken. All the food was well-prepared, but $54 for a plate of sautéed beef and onions?!! That's pretty outrageous. Also, the tea is weird: served in a wine glass with no strainer. It looks cool but is totally impractical for $8. Service was pretty good. The space is bright and modern and clean.

Yelp
This place is expensive for mediocre food. The servers were nice but the food was not very good. The yellowtail and the imperial rolls were the best things on the menu and they were also not remarkable. We spend 130 on two drinks and three appetizers. Decided to get burgers instead of ordering more.

Yelp
Ambiance was quite nice, and the server was super friendly. We were seated right away without a reservation for a Friday night. I guess we went early enough to beat the dinner crowd. For starter, we had the daikon cake. It was done well, although I would've preferred mine to be more crispy. I did appreciate that it wasn't overly greasy. The sauce was a bit heavy on the salt. Our entrees were the ribeye, crab cellophane noodle, with a side of bok choy. Overall the taste was good. However, for the price of the steak, I was expecting better consistency of the cook across the entire piece. But some parts were more cooked than others. Hollandaise sauce seemed out of place on top of the steak. The noodle was delicious with the first few bites. But half way through the meal, I was overwhelmed with the heavy seasoning. I could see why people enjoy the restaurant though.

Yelp
Both times have come for lunch, no wait, not busy either. Some of the drinks and dishes are great, others I am not so big on. Price: overall pricey so be prepared for that Service: no issues Ok now the real stuff Yellowtail: a little more fishy than I like. Without the shallots I wouldn't enjoy it Shaking beef: lot of meat for the price but the sauteed onions are heavily salted. Meat cooked medium. Carmelized shrimp: the shrimp lacked depth of flavor and taste boiled tossed in sauce to me imo . Again sauce is heavily salted Coconut lychee panna cotta: nothing stood out flavor wise , mild Strawberries and cream: really enjoyed this, great balance of flavors Rice doesn't come with the mains fyi so you will have to order that separate Maybe i will give it another shot ...

Yelp
Had a late lunch for a party of 8. Great atmosphere and service. We had a lot of dishes, but the consensus standouts were the daikon rice cakes, the imperial rolls, the Vietnamese beef stew, and all 3 desserts: strawberry cake, chocolate tart, and the coconut lychee panna cotta. (See photos for what we ordered.) Maybe because we had such a large party, it may have been hard to pay attention to each dish. We weren't blown away by the shaking beef, their signature dish. Lots of the other dishes tasted very similar to each other (or couldn't distinguish the main ingredient). We thought the whole mackerel was our least favorite. All in all, the restaurant is a great place to go for atmosphere and service. The food was good, but not so memorable, particularly for the price.

Yelp
Delicious! Went to this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion and got to sit in the counter to watch the kitchen! Such a cool experience. The servers were so nice and attentive the entire time. They provided us with a bottle of water to refill our glasses ourselves, but would always get to it before we could! The food was soo good too. We ordered claypot chicken with a side of rice and the crab cellophane noodles to share. I'm always scared fancy restaurants will not be filling enough but we were totally stuffed by the end!

Yelp
I think this location is becoming our favorite spot for great food. Great service very consistent menu. We came here less than a week ago actually, it was three days ago and then we came back on Tuesday night/afternoon for another amazing culinary experience! I think that the menu is, very well put together. There are not a ton of items to choose from but that makes it a lot easier for the chefs to finish these delicious dishes more consistent on a consistent basis. What a great place to dine! We will continue to be customers of this great restaurant. The food is amazing, you've got to try the appetizer list. Everything on the appetizer list is simply delicious!

Yelp
We keep coming back for the great cocktails from Benito and Ricardo! And impressive whiskey selection. And for the tasty food. We love the imperial rolls, Dungeness crab noodles, and lunch chicken pho. They also have a happy hour from 3-5pm. Bright and airy space with open kitchen, good for groups. Service is always friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Updated review after 4 years (yikes): Slanted Door is a huge restaurant in San Ramon City Center with both spacious outdoor and indoor dining. I remember having great food and vibes at the previous San Francisco Ferry Building's Slanted Door. After coming to the San Ramon location a few times, I would say the food and vibes are not to our liking. Here's why: 1. No child menu, and the management will call you out if you bring food for the kiddo. I understand rules are rules but other restaurants in City Center don't seem to have that problem and they want to keep the customers happy. 2. Relatively high prices with modest portions. Last I checked, Shaking Beef was $48. Good dish and soft, juicy beef but not $48 good. The Organic Claypot Chicken thighs was probably our favorite dish, and is one our toddler can enjoy. I forget the price but it was close to $30 or so. 3. They recently updated their lunch menu on our last visit. Now every entree was under $30 and included rice and side veggies (garlic green beans). This sounds like a good move. However, did they execute? We ordered the salmon (overcooked and dry), lemongrass pork chop (overcooked and dry), and beef stew (some dry parts, but otherwise small portion). These were all pretty small dishes and difficult to share. The best dish was probably the green beans. 4. To their credit, Slanted Door does offer great desserts. You can't go wrong with the Coconut Mango Rice Pudding or Butterscotch pudding.

Yelp
Im so dissatisfied, disappointed, and every other dis in the English language about this place. The spring rolls were rubbery, the dipping sause was decent. Now the shaken beef was tough, flavorless, and I could tell its a cheap cut off beef. The carb noodles lacked flavor and the cilantro overpowered the dish. The prices for these dishes are ridiculous. 20% service fee for two people is outrageous. How did they come up with that number? The food here is so mid. Im never returning here even thats to soon.

Yelp
Great food, the yellow tail was kind of too salty for my taste but over all amazing. Especially the Jong Long milk tea. The service was pretty good, waitress was very nice. The restaurant does look kind of bland but it is a very calm place to eat.

Yelp
Headed back after 4 years. Wasn't as happening as before but still the spot is lovely. Entering inside I remembered the modern open design. We had a reservation for sure because before it was difficult to get in. And we just stood there at the host area which was empty waiting, waiting....host saw us...no smile or rec...then he comes -whew jeez. He's cordial with greeting. We ask if we could sit outside instead as the inside was too empty and felt sterile. Not happening. Outside was a great choice as it was a great CA evening. We were cordially seated then again sat..,waiting.... I am writing like THIS because this The Slanted Door. They automatically put 20% tip. There are staff walking around and no one smiles at least at you or something. Our waitress finally comes. She's nice and thought we wanted to ease in on ordering but we ordered it all then and there to be safe plus we were hungry. Yes-the Slanted Door spring rolls were as before yummy start! The black cod was till amazing (but look at my pic how they served it) and the cilantro sauce with broccolini was amazing but sparse broc. Shaking beef was perfect. The food was delicious. The food would not disappoint. The service was lackluster as it was the support staff who had the charm -cut to bring us the shaking beef "shaking" wasn't ready for that serving charm as his leads did not.

Yelp
I've been holding out from trying this as it is quite a drive from San Francisco especially with traffic conditions nearing the old norm. I was hoping the Ferry Building location would open by now but it's still questionable when or if it will return. Neon began offering their foods, a limited menu, for about a month. I finally decided to get something in ordering their vegan mapo tofu (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=X4cIdQEZvgLI4rw_b9YI3Q&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); filling (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=7caSda6haLptvL5vIlsUsA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); the list of ingredients made me hopeful that I'd enjoy this meal as I'm a huge mushroom fan. Sadly after reheating (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rWwfAxqANx2yEZAIanrRIQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) half of the order and pairing it with some jasmine rice, I only found this okay. The flavors were fine but the ingredients were not balanced so I thought mapo mushroom was a more appropriate name. On my reheating of the remaining food, I learned that the tofu was buried underneath the sauce and proteins, enjoying it way more. Advice to the diner, make sure to mix the ingredients thoroughly before eating. This was my bad. I am disappointed that they still have not reopened their flagship location in the Ferry Building which made many meal memories for me and a lot of locals. I hope they reopen at some point as we try to revert things back to the pre 2019 San Francisco.

Yelp
We tried The Slanted door yesterday and were impressed. This is a Vietnamese restaurant. Our server was from Thailand. Since I like Thailand, this spawned several conversations. Their rolls are prepared excellently and have both great taste and texture. The restaurant is in the Bishop ranch center. San Ramon has done a great job selecting restaurants for the mall: The Slanted Door, Chow, LB Steak and Roam Burgers to mention a few. SF Eater suggested I visit them and I am glad I did. The flavors work well together and we will be back. Both dishes were superb. The rolls were crispy without being oily. The chicken vermicelli have a nice mix of protein and crunchy carbs. The crispy imperial rolls added some fish. The restaurant has a modern atmosphere with windows facing the mall center where children can be playing. We recommend you give them a try.

Yelp
What a nice change of having dishes different from other establishments! Everything we ordered was OUTSTANDING, so we just kept ordering more dishes because of that! We had Banh Nam, which we had never had before, and would order again! Had the Japanese Yellowtail, fried Shallots, Thai basil, with Lime! So fresh, that our tastebuds were all over the place! So many different elements you get in one bite! We finished off with the Duck! The presentation as you can see from the picture shows how delectable the meat was and perfectly cooked! I had a Unibou Canadian Belgian Wheat Beer that was so good to swish down this AMAZING meal! We WILL return and try many other dishes they serve!

Yelp
My wife and I had a date night here last night. We started off with the Imperial Rolls and they were the highlight of my night. They were delicious! Each roll packs a punch of shrimp and pork. The crispiness of the roll plus the lettuce wrap adds a nice balance to the texture. For our main, we had Roasted Duck and Shaking Beef. The Roasted Duck was okay. I liked the juiciness of the meat but I was expecting the skin to be much more crispy. The Shaking Beef on the other hand was tasty. The beef itself was cooked to a warm medium rare. The meat did taste a little gamey but the fish sauce bordelaise neutralizes that edge. Overall the food here is good. Was it worth $175? Probably not but it was well worth the experience. I loved the ambiance and the service was good. Side note: I think the 20% Service Charge is also distasteful. As someone who put myself through college by waiting tables, 20% is always a minimum for me and this makes me less inclined to tip more. For this service charge to be shared with the kitchen staff seems like a lazy way for upper management to pair an unfair wage -- but hey, the food and service were good so that's a-ok.

Yelp
Decent happy hour from 3-5PM. We had one of each appetizer on the happy hour menu, the banh nam (banana leaf wrapped rice dumpling with pork, dried shrimp, and fish sauce), and the persimmon galette and citrus coupe (white chocolate mousse, meyer lemon curd, black sesame). Personally, the shrimp and garlic chive dumplings and the crispy imperial rolls were my favorites! We weren't too crazy about the tuna tartare or the desserts, unfortunately. Felt like the tuna tartare needed more sweetness, the persimmon galette had this odd spice flavor. Service was friendly but could have been more attentive. We were seated in the corner by the restroom and it was difficult to get our waitress's attention on multiple occasions. I ended up going over to the counter to ask for the check. There is a 20% auto-gratuity added on, which she mentioned beforehand, which I appreciated. Overall, worth stopping by for happy hour in my opinion. They don't serve the main entrees during happy hour, so would be down to trying during their regular hours in the future.

E L.

Yelp
Ambiance is corporate. Rushed service. 20% service fee included. $240 for 2 people...little too pricey.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
My first time having upscale Vietnamese food! I love how the restaurant is spacious and has floor to ceiling windows. We ordered the banh nam as an appetizer and it was very glutinous and reminded me of dim sum. For our main dishes, we ordered the shrimp vermicelli, beef stew, and bok choy. They tasted okay, nothing really stood out. The beef in the beef stew was a bit tough. However, I really enjoyed the service. Our server was Tabitha and she was very attentive to us. She always checked up on us and always topped off our water. She even packed our food to go. I want to come again next time and will order different items.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I've been back to Slanted Door. Giving it 3 solid stars for decent food (really depends on what you order), excellent service and staff, spacious and beautiful ambiance. It's also very family and kid friendly! Would recommend: - Yellowtail appetizer was tasty. Fresh tasting and thick slabs of fish in a flavorful sauce. - The shaking beef does not disappoint. Huge cubes of meat and delicious sautéed vegetables. Great with rice. - The vermicelli noodles with Dungeness crab was good. Pretty mild flavor so recommend using one of their many sauces. - Pineapple spritzer was sooo good. Really refreshing and delicious. Portions are generous, I think. I had leftovers that I took home. Our waitress was also spectacular. She checked in so frequently, was patient in explaining our options, and let us order a few dinner menu dishes for lunch!

Yelp
I picked this place blindly, just for fun. I thought we'd try a new place for dinner. I chose poorly. The food was fine. The service, however, wasn't super. Slow and slow. After being seated, it must have taken 25 minutes just to order. I wasn't too concerned, but figured the tip that reflected my disapproval. To my surprise, however, they already charged me 20% for a tip. I wasn't a group. I was a party of 2. In the end, the bill was a bit over $150 (plus 20%) for two for "food." The decor was a cafeteria thing and just very stale. No music that I recall, no art, no color, etc. Just very stale. It was clean and again, the food was fine, but for $150 plus, there are just too many options in the area. Walnut Creek has about 100 restaurants that would be nicer and Esin in Danville would make this place look like a joke. My point is life is the area is expensive, but we have options. I'm told they don't have a shortage of guest so good for them. Personally, when I go out to spend $150, I require more than a Sweet Tomatoes/Fresh Choice type dinner.
google avatar

Patrick J.

Yelp
This restaurant is located in Bishop Ranch which is spacious and pleasant. It is less crowded than the one that used to be in San Francisco. The food is pretty expensive. The quality is pretty good, but I was not blown away. The one in San Francisco was better. The service was good and the delivery of the food was prompt. They also automatically added a 20 percent tip which I found a little odd (only two people dining).

Yelp
A nice place to end, shopping. A friend and I had just completed an evening if shopping to adorn her new flat and needed something tasty. I suggested Slanted Door and to my suprise, she agreed! Although no occasion, our server was extremely hospitable and warm (much appreciated) and whilt I always forget to snap pix, the food was fresh, full of flavor, and delicious! We had the spring rolls, the hoisin ribs, cellophane crab noodles, and Jicama salad. All I can say is there us no better way to spend your Friday tastebuds! Enjoy!

Yelp
Easy reservations on OpenTable Spacious bougie interior Attentive service But some questionable things that I'm not sure id be back Kinda seems like Americanized vietnamese food which isn't as authentic Shrimp/chive dumplings had a very off taste, like it wasn't fresh Caramelized shrimp was good but also didn't taste fresh Chicken claypot was super tender, but the seasoning wasn't the best flavor Cellophane noodles with crab was great Banh man was sooo oily, it was more authentic than anything else on the menu but it was very heavy Dessert was also heavy but good It was our anniversary and they comped us some champagne! They also tried to seat another couple to the table right next to us when the restaurant was empty and the other couple ended up moving to another table. It was super awkward

Yelp
Review: 12022022 (dinner) I've been to the SF Embarcadero location ages ago during my single days. I haven't been back since and apparently, the SF location is temporarily closed. My brother made reservations but it was pretty quiet that night but just in case, do make a reservation b/c 'tis the season! I believe the owner was the one who greeted my parents and me. He mentioned that we can still order from the Happy Hour menu... I think there were 15 mins left. Anna was our server and thankfully, she knew and gave us enough time to order a few appetizers: yellowtail (which my dad and sis-in-law loved! it wasn't fishy and it was fresh), crispy imperial rolls (I didn't have any but the family said it was tasty), crispy vegetarian imperial rolls (I mostly ate this and it was crispy and tasty, the sauce was perfect!) It was family style and so we ordered the following: * caramelized shrimp: wow, this was delicious! The sauce/caramelization wasn't overpowering, it was just right. * wild monterey rockfish: I thought it was going to be cut up but it came as a whole fish. Again, it wasn't fishy and upon the first bite, it melted in my mouth. There are fish bones but it's big enough to see so just be aware of it. * shaking beef: my brother mostly had this, I think I had 2 pieces. It was good and he inhaled it. * pork belly: again, my brother consumed this and no complaints from him. We had a family-size rice... our server asked us if we wanted any veggies and we all looked at her and told her we're Filipinos, what's that LOL. She laughed too. I remember the cocktail that I had was a winter cider and honestly, it was good too! It was perfect with the weather. My dad had a mai tai but he didn't finish it b/c it was too strong. I had to drive so I didn't drink it lol. Overall... the price was a bit on the expensive side. It's a fancy Vietnamese spot. The ambiance was nice and very modern and the plus side, the employees and staff were all friendly. Thus, it all balances out. Food quality and service... well worth checking out for a nice dinner, if you want to splurge.

Yelp
We had a fantastic group dinner celebration here in the early evening on a Saturday. We had to make a 5pm reservation for 7+ a baby on the day of, and they were able to book us an outdoor table. Everything we ordered ranged from very good to excellent. Loved the flavors and variety here. Starters: Yellowtail (5/5) gau choy gau (4.5/5) green papaya salad (4/5) crispy imperial rolls (5/5) bbq pork spareribs (5/5) Mains: Cellophane noodles (4/5) Caramelized shrimp (4/5) Halibut (5/5) Sides: Bok Choy (4/5) Our server was friendly and very impressive - he remembered everything our party of 7 ordered without writing anything down. The outdoor patio was lovely and had plenty of heat lamps - we were never cold. They allowed us to stay for 2.5 hours (and never asked us to leave), which was nice since we were having a celebration. Highly recommend the outdoor patio for large groups and families. Parking can be tough outside, so head for the indoor garage and go up to the 3rd floor or higher instead of spending time hunting down an outdoor spot.

Yelp
Had a work dinner here and it was really good. The employees were nice and helpful when asking them questions. We had a larger group and when we arrived we learned that we had 3 more people than what was planned for. Seeing that our tables were all pushed together we asked if we could just push one more over and the person seating us immediately said no because they had another group. That's fine and all but where we were the group coming after us was the next tables over behind us against the wall so it really didn't matter. As we stood there, the server for our area immediately started moving the same table that we had asked for over (???). In the end, it all worked out well. The food was delicious and being a picky eater, I ate everything we ordered. I highly suggest coming in and enjoying some tasty food with good service.

Yelp
The food is so good. We like getting the chicken vermicelli and the chicken pho. The Bok Choy is a very good side dish. Great flavors and a good portion.

Yelp
Honestly, thought it would be an overpriced asian twist kinda place. It is a pricey Asian twist BUT well worth it. The vibe and feel can be casual or dressy. Can be a group dinner or a romantic couples night. We had the spareribs, Imperial rolls and dumplings for appetizers, all excellent. For mains we got the cellophane noodles, shaking beef, clay pot chicken, caramelized shrimp and corn. Again all excellent! Tip, ask for their trio hot sauces, you can add spiciness to your own plates. Can't wait to go back. Service-5 Food-5 Vibe-5 Price-$$

Yelp
Love this place for the ambience and food but NOT THE STAFF. Everyone is always rude and looks unhappy to be at work. I love the food so much that I do keep going back, so I just deal with the servers, eat and leave. Ginger refresher is 10 out of 10, packed with flavor and compliments all of the food. Salmon, 7 out of 10, cooked to perfection but the amount is so little portion. Daikon rice cakes, 9 out of 10, this dish is not very common but it is very tasty plate. It has a crunchy exterior but a mochi consistency when you get to the middle. Tons of umami flavor Imperial egg rolls, 8 out of 10. Simplicity at its finest. Fresh ingredients, crispy and just the right size to make into a bite size app. Grapefruit and jicama salad , 9 out of 10, crunchy and an explosion in your mouth. The vegetables are diced to perfection, has amazing sauce that allows the vegetables to remain crunchy all the way until the end of the salad..

Yelp
Yummy food, helpful and knowledgeable servers. Our ginger-limeade cocktails were simple and tasty, not too sweet. Jicama salad was refreshing. I probably wouldn't get the Banh Nan again- it didn't have enough substance to it. 5 spice chicken vermicelli was straightforward but flavorful. Will return.

Yelp
I was super excited to try this place. As a former, Equinox trainer, all of my clients RAVED about this place , so I knew I had to try it. Parking is great as there is a parking garage. It's a great restaurant as there is shopping, entertainment and dessert close by! I ordered the vegan pho- IT WAS SO SO GOOD! I loved the umami taste of the mushrooms and the fresh veggies. For an appetizer, I tried the rice cakes- the texture was great! We drank hot tea and Vietnamese coffee which were great. The waitress was so sweet and helped us navigate the new menu. She was polite, chatty and very attentive- some of the best service I've had in a while! The restaurant itself was gorgeous- nice lighting, open windows and very clean. Overall a great option for a healthy bite and able to accommodate vegans and carnivores! I can't wait to come back for dinner service!

Yelp
I had high hopes for this restaurant but we unfortunately were left pretty disappointed. Came here for a Father's Day lunch - the restaurant was definitely pretty busy. We waited for a pretty long time to get our food - tables around us who ordered after we did were all getting their food first, which was a bit annoying. We ordered an appetizer (bahn nam) which was pretty good, just expensive. We didn't really enjoy the rest of the food we got; the cellophane noodles cost $32 and the portion was incredibly small (almost appetizer sized). It took us a while to get our next orders (lemongrass pork chop & 5 spice vermicelli) - by the time they arrived at our table they were cold. The lemongrass pork was also severely undercooked (basically raw). The 5 spice vermicelli was okay, but the portion size was also really small and not all that tasty compared to other vermicelli bowls I've had. They explicitly told us that all of the dishes were made for sharing, but given the small serving sizes I don't really see how that's possible. The staff were nice - could tell that they were pretty overloaded (esp since it was Father's Day). We didn't ask about our undercooked/cold food since we didn't wanna wait even more time to get it re-done. Overall, we would definitely not come back. The ambiance is nice, but the quality of the food was pretty subpar considering the extremely high prices. I would recommend going to a casual neighborhood joint if you're looking for Vietnamese food in this area, and would probably recommend going to other restaurants in The Lot if you're looking to eat in the plaza.

Yelp
Extremely overpriced mediocre food. The ribs barely had any meat and weren't very tender. The steak was tough. Desserts were underwhelming. Addition of 20% gratuity for service that was lacking was also unappealing. The open concept bathroom is terrible as well.

Yelp
Service was only ok even though it was a slow night. The overall experience at this location was just lacking all around. Plenty of room for improvements.

Yelp
We had a really nice Mother's Day lunch-- all five of us enjoyed it and found several things we would return for. I really need to shoutout the staff, I don't know who or what other people had experienced but from requesting a table to the end of our meal I really thought the service was truly excellent. The host wasn't sure if there was room for us right away since it was a busy holiday after all, but he made something work and gave us what turned out to be (in my opinion) the best table in the building! We were tucked away, but not out of sight, we had plenty of room, we could talk and hear each other, and I was really thankful! It was a warm day today, so being inside in the AC was welcome. Our server greeted us right away, was patient and helpful while we asked questions about the menu, and was sure to make recommendations. He remembered our entire order without writing a thing down, and I was pretty damn impressed since we were jumping around all over the place, interjecting each other, etc. Here's what we ordered: Yellowtail (amazing) Pho bo (it was okay, it tasted fresh and clean, but I expected the broth to be more complex, it was a little salty) Beef vermicelli (TOP TIER) caramelized shrimp... I think. (also top tier, it was my favorite dish) Cellophane noodles (just okay) shaking beef (amazing, but pricey) lots of rice (yummy and just the right consistency) and the house made chili trio is non-negotiable, you MUST get it if you enjoy spice. Each of them are incredible, but I think the fresh thai chili was my favorite. To drink, we had: HK style milk tea (hot) -- delicious, even on a warm day pineapple spritzer -- delicious Bruce Cost ginger ale -- enjoyable vietnamese coffee -- just as strong as you'd expect, and very good. I would come back for the beef vermicelli and the shrimp 10x over. I think I would skip the pho and cellophane noodles, but the crab was pretty good. Happy to come back again, thank you to everyone.

Yelp
Would have given 5 stars if the bartender hadn't attempted to direct my husband and me to outdoor restrooms. Thankfully, our waitress pointed us in the right direction. It's unfortunate considering we were literally the only AA in the restaurant &.

Yelp
We were at a conference nearby and looking for places where we could have dinner with our pup (aka places with outdoor seating). There are a number of restaurants and eateries in Bishop Ranch that fit this criteria, but my husband had recently tried The Slanted Door with some work colleagues and enjoyed it, so he wanted to take me there. The Slanted Door is definitely upscale Vietnamese food, so if you're looking for a quick and affordable pho meal, this isn't the place to be. That being said, if you're willing to shell out the extra dollars for the quality of food, it will be worth it. Slanted Door Spring Roll. Delicious and refreshing with generous chunks of shrimp and a yummy peanut sauce. Yuba Noodle. These noodles are similar to soy bean curd sheets and are also served with glass noodles. There's a slight kick from the chilies as well. Halibut. Perfectly tender with hints of aromatic lemongrass. A light main that's easily sharable between two people. Coconut Tapioca. We originally weren't going to opt for dessert but we were convinced by our server to try this. He did not disappoint. Creamy coconut tapioca with fresh, sweet mango and sesame tuille. It was a good ending for our meal. Service was always attentive and friendly even though we were seated in the outdoor dining area. We consistently had someone checking in with us and never had to flag someone down until the end of our meal when we were ready for the check.

Yelp
The taste of the food is good, and the restaurant has very pretty modern style interior. However, for me, it's ok if a restaurant charges a premium price, but it's an absolute blasphemy if I finish my meal still hungry after having ordered an entree. The portion of the food is this restaurant's biggest issue. I remember being very hungry and angry at the end of the dinner the first time I visited and I ordered several starters along with my entree. I could tell the restaurant is aware of the issue and is trying to improve. The portion of certain dishes have increased. But, it's still not good enough for me to recommend the place. Many dishes are simply not worth the high price tag. For example, the beef noodle soup is not nearly as satisfying as the one from a normal Pho restaurant due to its small portion and it is much more expensive. My favorite dishes are: Vietnamese beef stew from the weekday lunch menu, and the Halibut from the dinner menu. I get full from these two entrees. By the way, there is a mandatory 20% service charge.

Yelp
Love the open side, minimalistic, modern aesthetic. Not very impressed by this City Center location. Maybe because I have been dining at the Embarcadero, San Francisco location for years and it feels like the San Ramon location does not meet the same standards. The drinks are good, the food mediocre. This time, we went for lunch. I ordered the Cellophane Noodles and hubby got the Vermicelli Beef. Both of our dishes were just ok. We finished off with some Vietnamese coffee, which tasted better than the meal to me. The service though is excellent. Given its location, it is a popular place to get drinks and hang out. The older, bigger menu was definitely better than the newer, smaller menu.

Yelp
Made a reservation for 3 people on a Saturday night (730pm) a few hours before the reservation. When we came at 730pm, we were seated immediately by the hostess (short older Asian lady). The restaurant didn't seem that busy, but we waited for 20 minutes to get served. They didn't even approach us, we had to call them over to get their attention. The hostess apologized and said they realized they forgot us. This is not the treatment we expect since we've dined at The Slanted Door and all their iterations in SF and the service was wayyyyy better. The hostess tried to make it up to us by offering us alcohol, but we refused. We just wanted our food. I was so close to rating them a 2, but in the end, our server explained their mistake and it was a miscommunication on their part. They comped the WHOLE bill. We did not expect that to happen but obviously, we were very pleased that they owned up to their mistake and went above and beyond. They would've received all 5 stars if it weren't for their lack of awareness that we were sitting at a table for a long time before being served. After we got their attention, of course they were on their best behavior. That mishap set the tone for the whole dinner and although the food was good, the experience wasn't that enjoyable until the end where they tried to make it right. We appreciated their gesture! Recommendations: - Crispy imperial rolls were crispy and was really easy to finish quickly. - Ban bo lac (I think that's what it's called. It was pork belly dumplings) had an interesting texture. It's jelly fish like. I've never tried dumplings like this, but it was really good. Filled with juicy pork belly. - Roasted Duck was juicy and the dipping sauce reminded me of thanksgiving dinner LOL - Cellophane Noodles had a lot of crab and was very flavorful! I don't recommend the Shaking Beef. It was over cooked and it didn't have any flavor.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant currently. My favorites so far are the pork chop and the shaking beef. Also we recently tried the crispy rice wrapped pork & shrimp roll, and love that it's gluten-free. I'm looking forward to trying some other items because I always get the pork chop. - it's so good!
