Went to The Sleepy Whale on a Wednesday for trivia night and had such a fun time! The atmosphere was super lively, the crowd was friendly, and the trivia host kept things entertaining. Drinks were fairly priced, which is always a plus. They also had a taco vendor outside that night, and the tacos were so good – definitely a highlight. Great spot for midweek fun; I’ll definitely be back!

Google
Stopped in for a beer on our way to a friend's house. Great selection. Big beer cooler with many choices for carry out. My IPA was excellent.

Food was average at best.. but their beer was top notch. Went on trivia night . (Wednesday)

**Dog friendly inside & outside** A super chill bar with a ton of draft, bottle, and wine options. They have smaller and larger glass options for light and heavy weights. You can be at the bar or a bigger table with your friends. They did not have food when we visited but plenty of different drinks for everyone. I strongly recommend their Lavender Lemonade, which is not only pretty but absolutely delightful. I am happy we discovered this place and plan on coming back to try their brews.

Google
This is a fantastic taproom with an unbelievable selection of the finest craft ales available anywhere. The staff is knowledgeable and can help you choose what you would like to try. They have plenty of room and they also have a patio with food trucks to get a bite to eat.

Google
Nice place at Chandler downtown. Lot of car parking. 119 people seating. Inside and outside. Outside with umbrellas. Seating both inside and outside is with Wooden bench cresting a rustic atmosphere. Decent beer collections on tap. Few wine collections for glass. There is also a freezer section with canned beer and wine. Board games and cards are also present.

Google
Looking for a taproom in Chandler? This place always has a wide selection of beer, rotating taps, bottles and cans for purchase and 🍷 wine too. This is a laid back, welcoming, dog friendly place. The patio area has a nice vibe and they have several events there. There is something for everyone here! Stop in next time you are in the area - you won’t be disappointed.

Google
First impression, very impressed with everything!! The taco place next door delivers there. They are very dog friendly, which is amazing for us. They have a top end beer menu, plus have mead, hard cider, wine, and hard kombucha. The scene is a lot of fun (lots of room for board games and a very inclusive environment). The staff is extremely friendly and very attentive!! And they have drinks to go!! This year is a new favorite!!

Yelp
No food, unless you consider drinking your calories with the pleasure of craft beer is enough ! The ambiance share a common vibe to something you would see on a coastal side. A brew spot with the garage doors, wooden bar top and stateless steel berms. Straight out of a boat dock, and right into your experience. The hospitality is awesome and inviting. 28 on tap and more cans than you can imagine in the fridge from all over. A great spot to suit anyone. Wine served as well
google avatar

Yelp
There was no real "food" here till the taco truck guy showed up as this is more of a tap and bottle room. As we walked in we were greeted by Collin and never pressured to order. Listening Collin was helpful to every customer by making valid suggestions based on their likes and dislikes. Inside this location is very homey and very friendly. All the customers had no problem chatting. The venue is great and comfortable

Yelp
This is my and my wife's favorite place to try new beers, sours or even go for the frozen drank. They are dog friendly, have the best rotation of new stuff on tap and in the cooler for takeout. Nice and airy layout, rather than some dark, dank dungeon elsewhere. No kitchen here, so no food menu. That said, they occasionally have a pizza vendor or other food offering on site. And they allow you to bring food in - you can even get a discount at the place next door!! Nice place downtown to have a drink and talk to your partner or friends. A good to meet new friends too. And the bartenders have always been really cool. Love this place just the way it is!!

Yelp
This is really a cute little place! They only serve beer and wine, but they have a large selection of beer. They don't serve any drinks so don't come in there asking for a spicy margarita like I did! But they do have an extensive beer list. The ambience is really cool And the atmosphere is laid-back. There's no food offered either but on the weekends they do have food trucks that come in. It's a cute place. I'd go back if I'm just looking for a place for a glass of wine or beer. I don't drink a lot of beer. Wine is my thing.

Yelp
I swing by here to pick up a beer for my wife for our special night. Admittedly I was a little confused of what this place is. I thought it was a craft beer shop but in reality it is a bar that happens to have a fridge with craft beers in it. You can cop a squat and hang or grab a beer to go. What i was hoping to do was come in and say "wife loves Blue Van, what is the closest thing?" But instead I just browsed myself without consult as the bartenders were, well, bartending. All fine and good. My bad for misunderstanding the business. Beers I got were good. Checkout was a touch slow, though. I wouldn't mind coming back and hanging out and drinking some craft beer here in the future.

Yelp
The vibes here were vibing! The bartender was so nice not only found the perfect recommendation per my description of preferences but also carried on conversation naturally. I would 100% go back here!

Yelp
Great location, ambiance, beer selection, and service. My boyfriend comes here with his friends who's daughter did a girl scout cookie beer pairing event here! I mean come on... girl scout cookies and beer pairing?!?! I'm in! Great event! This place is dog friendly, they have large tables for large groups, and a plethora of board games. Come check it out!
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
Came here for North Park Brewery tap take over. They have a great selection of beers and a small selection of wines. It was a busy night with a mobile pizza out front and Girl Scout cookies for sale. Brilliant idea mom and dad! they sold a lot! Anyhow....North Park had some amazing hazy IPA's. My wine was a Zin that was smooth and yummy. The selection of cans and bottles to go was decent. It was very loud inside. Music was up a bit too much causing people to talk louder. This was a great place and worth the visit. Close to the Perch and DTC sports Grille

Yelp
This has been on my list to visit forever. Finally decided to stop in. So glad we did. This place is a fantastic spot to enjoy a craft beer. They have a good selection and some of my favorite breweries (pure project, fieldwork, wren house). And they have wine which I love as well. I have been on a beer break but decided to have one, when in Rome! Cute dog hanging back near the wine. And it was busy but not packed. Staff behind the bar is friendly. Menu is color coded for beet types. Beer fridge has some nice choices. We tried the Cloud Mountain DIPA by Pure Project and Salted Seabreeze sour by Fieldwork. Both really great! Easy 5 stars. Cheers!

Yelp
What's a gorgeous establishment to grab a drink with friends or family! My friend and I visited this location as she only lives 1-2 miles away, and she loves to grab a casual pint here. After a long week, it was much needed. The bartender was patient as we looked over the menu, and was friendly. There is not food at this location to my knowledge, but they have a great selection of beers, wines, meads, seltzers, and other beverages. They also have games you can play, so it's definitely a welcoming place to take friends, have a date, etc. I am sure I'll return since my friend lives so close, and we really enjoyed our drinks.

Yelp
Good variety! Loved the Rocky Road beer!! A bit loud but a fun place to hangout. A lot like their sister location Beer Barn in Gilbert.
google avatar

Jonathan H.

Yelp
Nice low key vibe to grab a drink and chill. Good selection of beer on both tap and cans in the fridge. Ample seating and was kid friendly when we went with our 1 year old. Both visits staff was friendly and helpful
google avatar

Yelp
First time visiting, always have drove by and was curious about this spot! Love me some IPAs and they have a huge selection of beers & to go beers. There is also non alcoholic drinks. Staff was friendly, space was very spacious and even have outdoor seating with pets allowed! Plays good music too! Will be back.
google avatar

Joyce W.

Yelp
Feeling thirsty? Come here! They have something for everybody! IPAs, blondes, stouts, sours, mead, wine, coffee, and mimosas! Lots on tap and some in cans for you to take home. I had two 5 oz. Miami beers from Tripping Animals: Bodega Cats and Who Loves Orange Soda (WLOS). Both were super good! The Bodega Cats was a hoppy IPA and the WLOS is a sour which I'm not usually a fan of. It's a fun atmosphere. They have games if you want to play and food trucks are parked outside mainly on weekends. It's a great place to grab a beer or two with friends.
google avatar

Josh K.

Yelp
Awesome little tap room. They have a wide array of craft beer choices and even some wine & meads on tap. No kitchen, but they offer snacks and are within walking distances of some other options. I know they offer events and host food trucks too, I've just never had the privilege of experiencing one.
google avatar

Cassandra O.

Yelp
Always good service and a good time, wich they would play some acoustic live music from time to time, it's one of our go-to spots! Great beer selection that is always changing.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped by for the first time on Wed night. Our friends went last week and told us about trivia, so we wanted to check it out. Unfortunately, the trivia was canceled, but we stuck around the check it out. The place is spacious with lots of big community tables/high tops, and there are also tables outside on the patio. They also have a stash of board games so you can grab one to play at your table. The wall of beers is pretty extensive, and I love that they have them color-coded to find the style easier (i.e., IPA, light, ciders, etc.). Hubby ordered an amber and a kolsch. He enjoyed both and was already planning the next visit so he can keep trying out other beers! The thing I was most excited about was the Mozzarepas stand out on the patio! I was over-the-moon excited about it as I haven't found many places serving Colombian food and was excited to have a taste of home! We will for sure be back next week to check out trivia, so, hopefully it's not canceled!

Yelp
One of my go tos for a taproom when I'm in the east valley. Reminds me of San Diego or Denver. Located in downtown chandler so I can walk around, have lunch or coffee before having a beer! Lots of tap options, big indoor and outdoor spaces
google avatar

Michelle V.

Yelp
Coming from the beer scene of the PNW, this local beer spot in downtown Chandler reminds me of a hybrid between this popular waterfront brewery in Tacoma, WA and another beer pub that was called Peaks & Pints in Tacoma. The husband has been bringing home some great craft cans from their to-go fridge the last few nights. They have a ton on tap as well, I read through majority of them today and thought some of names were extremely clever. I like the beer glasses they use for in-room drinking. The ambiance there is casual and the way they have their benches set up inside and out. And apparently sometimes they have food trucks there so you can enjoy some grub with your bee

Carter L.

Yelp
This place is top notch. Such a hidden gem in downtown Chandler. Most days I come to grab a drink after work, I'm blessed with being served by Miranda. She's so sweet and welcoming. (Give this girl a raise for real!). I have come on both slow and busy nights, I always receive the same quick and personable experience. Shout out to the owners on having a good staff. They do not serve food, but they have vendors come a few nights a week which makes it even more fun. The lighting is cozy. And the beer selection is always amazing. I try new things often, and always find something I love. Thanks for being here in downtown Chandler. You guys stand out amongst the rest. Ps. (Seriously Miranda is the best!)
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
The best taproom in the east valley. Jada is the best! Sleepy Whale has something for everyone, even kids! The pop up food trucks are great too!
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
I apologize for thinking the music was from your bar. I had no idea it was coming from much further away!
google avatar

Jamie B.

Yelp
Very cool place lots of good beverage choices and very friendly staff. They do not really serve food. However you can bring your own (which we did) and enjoy some beverages. They also had a local business on the patio that was making food for this that wanted. Looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
One of last stops while I was in Tempe. I wish I came here earlier, because the meads I tried were amazing. Atmosphere - 4.5/5 - This has a hippy, Cali, Austin, Texas feel. I really enjoyed the set up. Staff - 4.5/5 - Very knowledgeable. Since I was out of town, I was able to have a great conversation with one of the beer servers. It was a great way to end my trip. Beer - 4/5 - They have a very nice selection of beer, that shows the name and alcohol percentage on their big wooden back wall. Honestly, I recommend the different meads that they have. They are strong, and full of flavor. I could recommend other beers, but it just depends on your taste preference. My best recommendation is to simply ask the beer server what they recommend, and they will simply ask you questions and guide you to a great beer. I definitely would 100% come back if I travel here again.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of craft beer bars with a big selection, adorable decor, indoor/outdoor seating and some food variety. So of course Sleepy Whale hits all of those things (despite not selling food)! Their menu is always changing/rotating and includes lots (mainly) craft beer, wine, and some ciders and meads (mainly coming from Superstition). In their immediate area, parking is severely limited BUT there is a large garage nearby that serves all of downtown Chandler. If you have a pup, bring them! When I visited there was a bunch of adorable, well-behaved four-legged friends. The staff provides water to them. When I arrived I didn't know what to order but the beertender showed me their color ID system for specific beer styles. I've been on an NE IPA kick the last few months and luckily for me they had a few on tap. While at the moment they don't do flights, you can order a few 3-4oz samples or ask for a few tasters (but let's not get greedy :p). They have a nice relationship with a handful of restaurants (like Ghett Yo Taco, Gadzooks) in their 1mi radius with some menus scattered around the shop. If you call any of them, mention your Sleepy Whale location and an employee of said restaurants will deliver. Sleepy Whale also does a good job of having community/fun events as best they can. Trivia seems to be fairly popular as the tables filled up fairly quickly leading up to the start time when I was there. The employee who ran it was super nice and took down a bunch of category suggestions for future events.

Yelp
What a lovely little spot! They have a wonderful misted patio with lots of umbrella shade - it's even dog friendly! They have lots of indoor seating, as well. You'll walk in and be explained the COVID instruction - wear a mask if you're standing up and have some sort of food (this can be your own food that you bring with, a bag of chips/small snack that they sell, or food from the restaurant next door). They have something like 30 rotating beer options from various breweries as well as several wine options. You can buy cans/growlers. The staff was all very friendly! They don't do tasting flights, but you can get a 5oz pour if you're wanting a smaller glass. I tried a few smaller pours and liked everything I had! The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars vs. 5 is for its location. This place is a gem in the middle of an area that's meh.

Michael M.

Yelp
Absolutely love coming here. Each time we've visited they've a different food vendor making yummy meals. The selection is always fantastic and rotates quickly enough not to become stale.
google avatar

Johnny L.

Yelp
Nice open space. Bartender let us lay some of our own music and we had a blast. All beers on the menu were fantastic but I'll have to dock a star off for the dole whip drink. Underwhelming and overpriced
google avatar

Tyrone F.

Yelp
Yes, I recommend this place. It's casual, they have outdoor seating, it's a place to try different beers, and chat and hangout with friends! Place is dog friendly, and they also provide games. There are also fridges on the side that have more drinks to choose from. I think there is something for everyone here!
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
Most friendly service with some of the best options for beer and drinks on tap. IPA, SOURS, LIGHT BEERS, DARK BEERS, MEADS, WINES AND EVEN COFFEE on tap. Great environment with card games and board games to hang and play. Weekly events with food vendors on certain days. Anytime is a good time at the whale. If you are in on an off hour there are deals like reverse happy hour on Mondays 8pm to close. Big event coming up: FIELD DAY APRIL 30TH & MAY 1ST!!! Do NOT miss it!!!! Family friendly and animal friendly. 5 stars all day long! YOU ALL ROCK!
google avatar

Jolinda B.

Yelp
Love this place! Stopped in on Monday afternoon during happy hour. I chose a Key Lime Sour and my boyfriend chose a Reclaim the Sea - Burgeon. We each enjoyed our selections. Not only do they have beer to go they also have wine, so I'm sure you will find something you like. I wish they would've had snacky things to munch on...because they did not, we decided to continue our adventure down the road.
google avatar

Kristy R.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Tons of drinks to choose from ranging from beers to meads to wines. They have a color-coded menu which shows if something is an IPA, a sour, etc. right by looking at the board on the wall. The staff is super friendly and helpful if you need some advice - there is A LOT to choose from. Tons of picnic tables and outdoor seating available. The space isn't huge but had enough room for our group of 5 on a Wednesday night. They also had Mozzareppas setup outside which provided a nice little treat. The beer I had was very good, they also had a delicious stout on draft. Only one mead we tried wasn't a hit. The prices are fair and different sizes are available.
google avatar

Den O.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and reasonably priced. Great beer selection and Sunday happy hour! The reason why this review has three stars instead of five is because of a single staff member. I gave it a few shots because maybe it was just an off day. Terrible beer pours. This guy is usually stumbling likes he's drunk or something. Womp.
google avatar

Rich T.

Yelp
Went to meet a friend who didn't show up. Enjoyed the beer selection. Atmosphere was nice. Not loud not quiet. Just right.
google avatar

Shannon D.

Yelp
What a rad little place! My husband and I came here for the soft opening, and man was it busy! We loved the garage doors that rolled up, as it's definitely the style here in Arizona. The mural that was painted on the wall was super rad, couldn't get a great picture since there were so many people here. Definitely would recommend, we love the community tables and the feel of the place. You walk in through the patio which has beautiful blue umbrellas and a bunch of seating, into this huge building with a gorgeous wooden bar that looks super custom made. Although, there aren't a bunch of purse hooks, which kinda sucks. It's a rad idea to use pallets for a beer menu, but the white writing is super hard to read from a distance since everyone crowds around the bar area. All of the staff seemed to be super friendly. Would highly recommend checking this place out, the only downfalls that we walked away with was we're spending our money for food elsewhere (as they don't serve food here, there's talk of food trucks), and this place doesn't have something super special that makes it stand out. The logo is cool, the beer is great, but we just felt like there's more to it.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
This place is so chill and easy to grab a spot and talk for a couple hours. The selection is great but so indecisive and couldn't make a decision so I had two ciders. They had a food truck in case but we weren't eating just drinking which is great but this place has a couple TVs in case you need to watch a game. Bring your friends and enjoy the ever changing menu.
google avatar

Marie L.

Yelp
Small parking lot, but street parking available. Self seating indoors and outdoors. Selections are written on the wall, just step over to the cash register and order your selection. They have canned beers available too. Water is also self served. Ohhh they have super yummy hummus and pitas available for purchase and/or you can order from nearby places. Menus on the table and a server comes around for that purpose. Beers on tap were on point. I enjoyed the IPA's to the stouts. Dericious!! Lol
google avatar

Michelle J.

Yelp
What a cool and laid-back brewery! Gabriel waited on us and he was fantastic! He was super friendly and knowledgeable about the beer choices. They have a color coding system to help you narrow down your selection. No matter what you like (IPA, dark, sour) you will find it here. Definitely worth a stop!
google avatar

Hope F.

Yelp
This place rocks. My boyfriend and I came in on a whim, and loved the beer selection. There must have been close to 40 beers (and mead!) on draft. TBH I was paralyzed by the paradox of choice, but ultimately landed on: -Cellador Ales, Petalum - 5/10, not for me -Tombstone, Now thats what I call (DIPA) - 9.5/10 The Petalum was super interesting and very beet forward (smelled like a juicery), but just not for me (was kind of like a sour). My boyfriend loved it. They don't do flights, but you can do a 5oz pour of anything, so did that x2. You CAN fill growlers, but need to bring your own. They also have a bottle shop in the back. Great outdoor space, all while watching TV/sports if you're into that. 10/10 would recommend!
google avatar

Elvia A.

Yelp
Awesome vibe here, staff was welcoming & knew exactly what they had on tap. On Sundays Random Af Kitchen is there & their birria is so delish & pairs very nicely with the beer. Great outdoor seating area, perfect for board games & hanging out with great company
google avatar

Amie C.

Yelp
We stopped in for a beer and was not disappointed. So many beers on tap and you can bring your own food in. Love the large picnic tables, both inside and out. They have a few games to grab and play too. I could definitely hang for a bit here while enjoying some drinks. Dog friendly, great patio.
google avatar

Ralph S.

Yelp
This is truly a local place that welcomes all. They have patio and some inside seating. The beers are kind of off the grid... like they said, you can buy the other beers at a store!! had a good time, tried a few new beers... friendly staff.
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
Huge selection of beer. Very friendly staff. Dogs allowed inside and out. Good parking unless it is crazy busy.

Yelp
Cool Open Air Tap-house Feel, Friendly Staff, Interesting Beers! If you like a happy, open layout with rolled open garage doors in nice weather kind of please with friendly staff.... This place is for you. Located on the main drag of Old Town Chandler and it's newly revitalized feel. A new parking garage will be located on the back side down the block when they get it completed, brick then parking is severely limited! Blueberry Spaceship Box: 5.5% alcohol content, tasty sweet and smooth blueberry beer. This is one is an easy to drink all day beer. I give it a 9 out of 10 rating for my personal taste buds! Ethiopian Pour Over Stout: 10.2% alcohol content, Interesting coffee beer with some vanilla taste hidden in there too. At like a Guinness that isn't so thick or strong and more smooth. This is one is an interesting but probably not one to drink all day beer. I give it a 8 out of 10 rating for my personal taste buds! Fruit lands: 4.8% alcohol content, nice, clean tasting beer with passion fruit and guava accents. Lightly tart and easy to drink all day! I give it a 8.9 out of 10 rating for my personal taste buds! Roswell's Sure Swell: 5% alcohol content super sour beer! Pineapple and coconut accents and intensely sour! I like it for a one in a night explosion of flavor, maybe not a 6 in a row beer, but definitely unique and powerful! I give it a 7.9 out of 10 rating for my personal taste buds! Tombstone Double IPA: 8.7% alcohol content, IPA with a hazy hoppy kind of flavor. Good zingy flavored beer with a little bitterness mixed with a flavorful attitude. I give it a 8 out of 10 rating for my personal taste buds! All in all a cool place to hang out with friends...

Yelp
This is such a great addition to downtown Chandler! It has such a great laid-back vibe, the beertenders are knowledgeable, friendly, and quick, and there's a strong emphasis on local breweries/meaderies. There's a sizable patio, a TV to catch the game, and an impressive selection of grab-and-go bottles. I especially love that they're ultra dog-friendly and they bring in food trucks several times a week (they don't serve any food of their own). You can also order from nearby businesses and they will deliver! I don't know how many of them do this, but can confirm Ghett'Yo Tacos does! We have been in a few times and were just here for the Halloween bar crawl. It was PACKED, so hopefully now more people know about the awesomeness of Sleepy Whale!
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
One of the best reasons to be in Chandler is the chance to have a few beers at The Sleepy Whale! While I am a regular at the Wandering Tortoise (owners of the Sleepy Whale) they have a very similar Tap List & To-Go Beer set up. Both times I have visited the Sleepy Whale, there was no wait time to get a beer, an incredible selection of Draft, Can and Bottle beers, and fun/knowledgeable bartenders. I had friends in town from Australia and they too agree that this Craft Beer Bar is worth the hour commute. They are dog friendly, have a Food Truck in their parking lot after 5pm everyday, and are a great addition to the Arizona Beer Community. If you are not a beer drinker, they also have an exceptional list of Wine, Cider, and Mead that will not let you down. Do yourself a favor and check out the Sleepy Whale!
google avatar

Donna K.

Yelp
Trendy spot to try out a large variety of IPA, white wine, red wine, lagers, ciders and mead. Happy hour Monday-Friday 11am-730pm $2 off 16 oz, $1 off 10 oz, 50 cents off 5oz drinks. Only on the drinks without the * #12 Spaceship Box (blueberry oak aged cider) $9.50 for 10oz #18 Fruitlands (Tart with passion fruit with guava) $5.50 for 10oz #24 Weekend Adventures (west coast IPA collaboration with keen river) $9.50 for 16oz 4 stars because of the pricing. $9.50 for 10 oz cider was pretty spendy, but overall the staff was friendly. They also had a food vender on the Friday night when we were there. Cute place for date night or drinks with friends.
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
"I drank beer with my friends. Almost everyone did. Sometimes I had too many beers. Sometimes others did. I liked beer. I still like beer." - Actual Supreme Court Justice Well...me too man. And when I choose to drink beer in Chandler, I choose The Sleepy Whale.

Yelp
Great hang out and beer spot! I loved the beers on tap, specifically the sours and appreciate a good super tart sour. I was going to knock off a star because they dont serve food, but they share a parking lot with Gadzooks and several patrons brought in great-smelling enchiladas. If we weren't going to dinner we would have picked up some enchiladas too. I thought I saw some snack boxes listed on wall with the draught list, but I didn't see anyone order them. Beer-wise, I tried a cherry sour that wasn't very sour and I loved the (green) tart Roswells Sure Swell. Hubs also liked his IPA but I can't remember which one. Take your dog, meet some friends, and check it out!
