An absolute gem not to be missed. Amazing dishes with many options to accommodate dietary needs, especially gluten free. The food is scratch made and amazing. And, Eugen, the owner/chef and one man show provided excellent service and shared great conversation about The Slide Inn’s history. Highly recommend!

Google
It is one guy, running the front of house and making all the food. Everything is FROM SCRATCH. He makes the bread. He makes the three different kinds of syrup. There's a ton of gluten free stuff but also regular versions of everything too. This place is special. Make sure you go there at least once to meet the guy and eat his amazing food.

The food was very tasty and the portions were excellent. The Austrian style pancakes were the best I’ve ever had in my life!

Google
Came here for weekend brunch thanks to friends who recommended it and what a great find!!!! Food menu includes vegan and gluten free options. Love their European dining menu including German and Austrian. Homemade from scratch dining and everything delicious. Highly recommend. We hope to come back again soon.

Google
We haven’t even finished our breakfast and I’m already writing a review. This place is pure magic - it seemed like everything had a homemade twist. We had a large group (including a baby) and the hospitality/service was unbelievable. I personally had the Eggs Benedict, which is now in my top 10 breakfast dishes I’ve ever had. +100 points for being a perfect place for a baby to nap today!

Last night, we went to 'The Slide Inn' for dinner with friends and we were impressed by the food! Eugen cooks everything himself which is original Austrian cuisine, he bakes his own bread, makes his own pasta and mustard, runs the restaurant with breakfast, lunch and dinner all by himself! In between courses, he found time for a chat and told us about his amazing life story. The interior is quirky and simple but has lots of character. As a German, remembering all the homemade delicious food, it's special to find a German restaurant which offers that, including vegan items (besides...'Here, we have pretzels and salad!'). We think, he deserves more shout outs, so go there and enjoy delicious home made German-Austrian food! We will definitely come back for more!

I am not vegan. My partner is. The menu at The Slide Inn makes sure nobody misses out on anything. Eugene is a true MVP. Been in for dinner and breakfast services here now and have left completely satisfied each time. Highlights: Austrian pancakes, apple fritters, sausages, onion rings, a unique tempura situation, housemade mustard. The Bloody Mary has a nice horseradish kick. Next time gotta try the schnitzel

Google
What a special place. My husband and I had dinner there this evening along with our two year old and it was totally wonderful. The owner/chef also runs front of house so you feel like you are being taken care of by family. The ambiance is so homey and beautiful. And THE FOOD- everything we had was incredible. We ordered the latkes, house smoked sausage plate and gnocchi. We can’t wait to return to try the brunch menu. I must say this place is so unique and in a city full of great food this one stands out.

Delightful experience for brunch! Delicious French toast and I loved the hibiscus and coffee syrups. Service was great. Will come back to try dinner next.

Yelp
We have walked by this place many times and it always seems empty, which is odd. A friend of mine almost had her wedding reception here but then COVID happened. We decided to give it a whirl for dinner. We arrived around 7:15 and there were only two tables dining there. After a few minutes, those both left and we were the only ones in the place. The interior is charming and kitschy. It was still daylight, but no lights were on in the place. We were by a window, but the back of the dining room was shadowy. I wanted to try one of the house specialty cocktails, so I had the Stalin's Revolt. It is basically ginger beer with lemongrass vodka and lime juice. It was very good, quite ginger-y with a bit of lemon flavor. If you are a fan of ginger, you will love this. My husband got a gin and tonic, he said it was fine but not very strong. My dinner was excellent. I had the two smoked turkey sausages with braised red cabbage and mashed potatoes. The sausages were flavorful, the mashed potatoes were creamy and lovely, and the cabbage was very tasty. Unfortunately, my husband's entree was not as successful. He had the beef roulade and said it was cold in the middle, like they had microwaved it but not gotten it warm enough. He also said the spaetzle was too chewy. I had tasted a tiny piece of the spaetzle and mine wasn't chewy, and had a great flavor, much better than spaetzle I had once in Switzerland. Our server appeared to be the owner. He was somewhat pleasant but a bit abrupt. I think this place could be a huge success, but they need more advertising and staff. The food is overall pretty good, it's worth a try.

Yelp
What a cute, welcoming gem this place is! The owners were both extremely kind and personable not to mention extremely hard workers! I came here for their Mother's Day breakfast which was served as a buffet style. They had so many wonderful vegan options to choose from. My favorites had to be both the apple fritter and the potato latkes. I will definitely be returning for a wonderful breakfast out.

Leo M.

Yelp
Ate here with my partner while visiting Portland. Took forever to get drinks. We were never offered refills. My entree came out 20 minutes before my partner's. I finished before he even got his. The dishes our food was served on had a black film all over them. My partner's entree was burned. He barely ate any of it. When we were presented with the check and he asked how everything was, we said not great and he just shrugged. Nearly $100 for a really horrible meal. I get that this is a one person operation. Maybe you need to admit the fact that the restaurant business isn't for you.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem! In town for one night visiting friends, went here for breakfast. Lots of gluten free options, hearty meat scrambles and delicious homemade breads and sausages. The place is quiet, great decor and friendly owner! Whether you want sweet or savory, you'll have lots to pick from!

Yelp
Our first and only brunch was at The Slide Inn. It's a German spot run by a husband and wife combo. They have an extensive list of dishes that can be made gluten free. We dropped in on a surprisingly slow Saturday (around 12:30pm). There was only one other table that was dining in. The inside is funky with a fireplace (right at the front), an electic range of clock decor and a plethora of Keane paintings adorning the walls. Service was excellent and friendly. The breakfast menu consists of eggs, pfannkuchen and mehr, waffles, house made smoked sausages, burgers and pastas. Dishes are $10.00 USD to $18.00 USD. - Sausage scramble-house made turkey sausage, sautéed peppers with potato rosti and toast ($14.00 USD) - opted for the pumpernickel, which was nicely toasted, yet still soft. Everything on the dish was tasty. Turkey sausage was delicious and the potato rosti silky. Eggs were nicely done and had a good amount of red peppers mixed in. - Apfelschmarrn ($14.00 USD) - Austrian pancake (cut into small pieces) oven baked with an apple cinnamon compote. Smelled like apple pie. Warm, comforting and not too sweet. Cozy, comfort food at TSI.

Yelp
EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK (read the quotes from their last health report on 2/1/2024). We left because it was so disgusting. I've attached photos of the mold at the bottom of the water bottle used to serve us water in. I'm fortunate as the only one in our party to not the drink water. I first noticed what I thought was ice at the bottom and thought that was weird, then moved the bottle to realize it was white and black mold. The utensils my partner received were dirty, the cups that they served tea in were sticky and gross. There was a layer of filthy film on the salt and pepper shakers. The server was wearing the most disgustingly filthy apron (later I realized he was also operating the kitchen). It's important that food is safe to eat. So many are immunocompromised, have liver or kidney problems. People shouldn't have to gamble in having a clean environment and safe food to eat. I filed a complaint with the health department and in the process learned this restaurant just had an inspection and barely passed with a 75 (below 70 is failing) and required corrective action. Here are actual quotes from the inspection done on 2/1/2024 by Multnomah County: "The person in charge has not demonstrated knowledge of foodborne illness disease prevention" "NO RUNNING HOT WATER AT DESIGNATED HANDWASHING SINKS (TWO)." "Food is unsafe, adulterated or not honestly presented, specifically: ***MANY FOODS IN THE WALK-IN EXHIBIT MOLD GROWTH.***" "Raw or ready-to eat food is not properly protected from cross contamination, specifically: ***FREEZERS OF RAW ANIMAL PROTEINS ARE IMPROPERLY STORED.***" "Raw or ready-to eat food is not properly covered or stored, specifically: ***ALL FOODS ARE UNCOVERED IN THE WALK-IN. CONTAINERS OF FOODS/TOPPINGS IN KITCHEN PREP AREAS ARE KEPT UNCOVERED. FREEZER STORING RE-PACKAGED RAW ANIMAL PROTEINS IN UNSEALED BAGS.***" "Food-contact surfaces are not clean, specifically: ***CUTTING BOARDS, UTENSILS, EQUIPMENT HAVE BUILD UP FOODS AND DEBRIS, NOT CLEAN.***" "Ready-to-eat food is not properly date-marked, specifically: ***NO DATE MARKING PRACTICED.***" Edit to the owners response - I'm curious what kind of black and white fuzzy food you serve that would get into a bottle? It was most definitely mold and it was disgusting. This was supposed to be a birthday gathering and people in our party were not in the mood for food after consuming some of the water that was poured from that bottle. And though you posted parts of the follow up inspection report done on 2/14/2024, I should point out that our visit was on 2/25/2024, 9 days after the follow up visit by the health department. Besides that, none of the issues in the original report should have happened in the first place. That is why restaurants are regulated and anyone who handles food has to be permitted to do so.

Yelp
Casual dining in an eclectic dining room with an amazing authentic Bavarian menu. We went for my birthday dinner (I am gluten free and he's not) and it was like a food hug. After high school I worked at a Bavarian restaurant owned by a family from Munich, and Eugene's food was a taste of the past. The beef roulade was fork tender and full of flavor and my husband wanted to lick his stroganoff plate clean. We followed it with salted caramel pannacotta and gluten free apple fritter. All I can say is I am in a partial food coma writing this on my way home. But be patient because it is a one man band for the front and back of the house, but 10000% worth the wait.

Yelp
It's wonderful that The Slide Inn is still open, a small privately owned restaurant that made it through the Covid storm. Friendly, homey atmosphere. Attentive service. Really enjoyed the pork schnitzel with red cabbage, and horseradish mashed potatoes.

Yelp
Had a wonderful breakfast here with my hubby this morning! You can't eat here unless you are vaxed (proof required), and I very much appreciate it. The place is small and intimate and has a lot of interesting decor. I got a veggie scramble. There were mushrooms, peppers, kale, and cauliflower in the eggs and some hashbrowns on the side. Dang, was it tasty!! My husband got some baked pancakes that had bacon in them. They brought over a tray of in-house syrups ( the caramel and the coffee flavors bring the two favorites).

Yelp
E P I C - this is a one man show and *show he does! The food served here is German comfort food at its finest. Mr. Wonderful had the Austrian pancake with plum sauce, he enjoyed it, and I enjoyed the few bites that I swiped from his plate. I had the potato pancakes which were cooked to perfection and they were served with homemade applesauce - which was a memory triggering delight! You can taste the passion in this food! The interior is eclectic and cozy. I liken it to stepping back in time for a trip from the 50s through the 70s. It's quite charming! We are planning a return trip to Sellwood based around this restaurant. I must try the dinner offerings. Danke!

Yelp
The food of my people! Genetically anyway. I grew up eating like this and I rarely find a good restaurant that can supply me with dishes which remind me of my favorite time in Oma's house. Don't be afraid to ring the bell, the owner was lovely and it is a welcoming space with fun and beautiful decor in a wonderful building. The dinner menu is extensive, gluten free options abound readily labeled, vegan options are also throughout, and the quality of the food is top notch. Serious love put into it. The drink selection is perfect for all palates, the dessert menu is well rounded without overwhelming, it's an ideal selection of food. Their fermented-in-house ginger beer has zang, the homemade mustard is good enough to eat with a spoon, if it's made there, it's going to be amazing. I perused the breakfast menu, also lots of choices and well rounded for any taste range, I will be back with enthusiasm. There's a joy for food emanating from the place. We dealt with the husband of the husband and wife team who run this place seemingly on their own, and he was a machine. Prompt and accommodating, great fun attitude and skilled at apparently all things that make food happen. On a cold night I was warm by the window at the farthest point from the heater, so that was pleasant. It's an ideal space for a large group or an intimate setting. Parking, prices and portions are pretty Portland-esque, but for around 100 dollars we were over full and happy to have splurged with some extras that aren't necessary to enjoy yourself. The high quality is more than worth it. I am adding this to my 'spots I recommend the shi* out of' list. Use the bigger bathroom unless you are a very small human, I couldn't help but laugh.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast while visiting Portland and it was absolutely amazing. I tried the eggs Benedict, chocolate chip banana bread (gluten free/dairy free), apple fritters (gluten free dairy free) and sausage scramble. 10/10 for every single dish. Eugene (owner) was extremely considerate with allergies. I would definitely recommend to anyone! Both non gluten/dairy and dairy/gluten free options were delicious. The price is affordable and decor was nice. If you haven't tried already, make your way here!

Yelp
The chef is fantastic Trained in Europe Authentic real food! This place has a great location And delicious unique cocktail menu Try it on a date nite or Sunday brunch !

Yelp
I'm giving this place five stars because the food was amazing. The owner was nice and helpful. The only negative from my perspective in our experience was that the AC was off. This is due to how slow business has been. I don't know how they can turn this around - they have the product. They ran a successful restaurant here before (Il Piato which used to be one of our favorites).

Yelp
The food and drinks were delicious! The decor was so kitschy and so cute! I love the Sputnik lights and starburst clocks

Anais H.

Yelp
Amazing good and great service! It's a one man show where he does everything himself, very inspirational and everything house made is top tier! You need to try the Austrian pancake and infused syrup, worth the wait for sure.

Yelp
Amazing German food. Just like Oma used to make. Leisurely dining, great for date night or gathering of friends. Owner was our chef and waiter for the evening. Lovely man.

Yelp
At first glance, the restaurant may appear closed, but ring the doorbell outside and a friendly face will come to greet you. The worker was a jack of all trades, waiting and bussing tables as well as cooking the food in the kitchen. They were attentive, considerate, and checked in often to see how we were enjoying our food. The restaurant has unique decorations with a fireplace right at the front. My sister and I ordered the House Cured & Smoked Salmon Hash, Speckpfannkuchen (Austrian pancake with bacon and parsley), and the Hungarian House Made Smoked Sausage. The potatoes in the hash had a lovely char, but I felt the tomatoes made the dish carry a bit too much liquid. The Austrian pancake came with a variety of syrups (lavender, hibiscus, salted caramel). My favorite was the lavender! The tasty Hungarian sausage paired well with the house made mustard and sauerkraut. Overall our experience was great and we loved the service that was provided. It felt like we were eating at a friend's house with lots of care poured into the food being served.

Yelp
Gluten-free German food! Amazing. This is a very cool place. The owner/chef/waiter does it all. He was attentive and kind. I appreciated the opportunity to have a dish I had not eaten in many years because I have celiac disease. Most of the time when I go out to eat, I prepare to feel terrible within an hour or two. I did not have that problem here. I don't live in the area otherwise I would be a regular. I will definitely return on my next visit to Portland.

Moo Goo G.

Yelp
The place is dirty. The service is slow. The food is terrible, and it's not even terrible. It's...... Unsafe to eat.Looking. I can't suggest strongly enough to find somewhere else to eat. But if you do eat there, check it out very carefully before you actually eat the food. We will never be back.

Fairy S.

Yelp
I'm another fan! This place is so special. Everything about it is so personalized and wonderful. I am a gluten free vegetarian and seldom do I get to enjoy such delicacies as homemade gluten free gnocchi, crepes, pastas, vegan sausage, apple fritters...just everything was so divine. The owner takes so much care with each meal and it's like visiting someone's European home. We sat outside and it was a really lovely experience.

Donald Esterling ..

Yelp
Walked in on a whim (1 block from ScreenDoor, busy). Wow. All food made from scratch. Meat in my beef stroganoff was tender, over to-die-for sauce and spaetzel. Wife had Penne Con Funghi, raved about it. Oh yeah, dark beer battered onion rings. Normally not a big fan of German food, but this really hit the mark. No long lines... walk in and be seated.

Yelp
Such a good find + great vegan options. Owner so kind! We got the latkes and the tofu sausage plate with red cabbage anddd sauerkraut because we wanted both. Will be back!

Yelp
I am sooooo happy we found this place! We're in town for a wedding, and some of our other friends like to go to Gustavo's for German food when they're in town. Gustav's didn't have room for our group, so a local recommended the Slide Inn. I love German food and so does my boyfriend, but I am gluten-free and he's pescatarian, so it's sometimes hard to find German food we can both eat. I got so excited when I looked at the menu and saw how many things could be made vegan, vegetarian, or GF. Had the hardest time deciding what to get. Everything looked amazing. Fortunately we were a large group, so we all got to taste several Duffey things. I got the beef stroganoff. I was hoping there was GF spaetzle, but it was served on GF gnocchi, which was delicious. The latkes were excellent as were the GF herbed crepes, they have great vegan and regular sausages, and everything is made in-house by Eugene, who is a one-man show. He is the only one there, and makes it all happen. For a big group, it took little longer for the food to come out because of that. Not excessively long, but just know this isn't fast food., like GF tempura and a hummus/baba ganoush. They had GF Apple fritters y'all!! And other GF desserts. Great wine, beer and cocktail menu. Eugene came out and chatted with us. Super nice guy. I'm just hoping we can get back there for the breakfast. The menu is amazing, and considering how delicious everything was for dinner, I'm sure the breakfast would be great. So happy the other place couldn't take us! There are other non-German items on the menu

Yelp
What a great find today! A little context- this is actually my first time dining at any restaurant since March. I was just walking in the area when I saw it's well spaced outdoor seating, menu's posted behind the glass at each table, a text-to-order and contactless venmo payment method. It was everything I had hoped for and then I noticed it was a German cafe, it was a quick must-try! So what did I try, you ask? To drink: a Stiegel Goldbräu, a classic and yummy German beer, one of many on their draft list. And a Lavender Collins, with lavender infused vodka, just YUM. I will struggle to try the rest because I loved this drink so much, totally up my ally. To eat: Chocolate cinnamon French toast, not as sweet as expected- in a good way! They also had four unique syrups to chose from, salted caramel was what we tried, subtle and delicious. My only note on this would be I'd prefer no plastic if possible, for the syrup cup. And I had the Apfelschmirrn Pfannkuchen, a german/austrian style pancake with cooked cinnamon apples, loved it! Very filling and sweet! They also had a lot of vegan options and I look forward to coming back to try more of their menu items, I'll also keep an eye on their website, I heard they have some rotating specials!

Yelp
I came here because I'm celiac and my brother spoke so highly of it and I was still blown away! The owner does everything, is so kind and the food is absolutely phenomenal. I only got breakfast but I'll have to come back and try dinner! Almost everything can be made gluten free and or vegan. The Austrian pancake was probably my favorite, just so delicious! :)
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
Love how unique this place is! There are so many gluten, vegan and dairy free options. Owner was able to accommodate my need for dairy free for the Austrian pancake. We shared eggs/bacon/potato--the potato/hash brown was so good. We thin shared the Austrian pancake with warm apple compote on top. Very different and yummy! Multiple different syrups: lavender, hibiscus, coffee and salted caramel. The salted caramel went great with the apples. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Had breakfast with my kids here today and it was awesome. I had the Salmon Hash and it was delicious and full of flavor. I don't normally like eating tomatoes but something the cook did to the tomatoes here... I ate my entire plate. Kids had the banana bread French toast and loved it.

Harlye S.

Yelp
This place is amazing! if you are going through Portland stop here! We tried the GF veggie tempura and it was full of flavor and tasted fresh. We also tried the beef rouladen and Gf hungarian sausage pasta. I love that everything was marked on the menu if it was gluten free or able to be made GF it made it so easy to order. There was only one staff member at the time but he gave us great service! and was very friendly! so no complaints here. Overall, We would love to come back!

Yelp
I want to start by saying how amazingly personable the owner is and how delightful he made our meal. I also want to express my gratitude for the Covid-19 precautions. Lastly I want to eat here every day for the rest of my life! Everything is made in house and fantastically delicious. I was very indecisive and wanted the nut free house made pesto and spätzle so I was thrilled when he combined the two into one amazing dish for me. My very picky 8-year-old won't eat fries so he made sure she had a plate full of carrot sticks and even fried a few for her (and her stuffed bunny) which were a hit! Her burger was huge and the bun was delicious! I would take a dozen to go if I could. (Should have asked about the possibility of doing so.) My husband enjoyed the sausage and cabbage and house made mustard along with the house made ginger ale. This spot is absolutely worth the stop.

Yelp
Cozy brunch spot. Austrian style brunch, very tasty, nice ambiance and proprietor! Quiet, great alternative to the big brunch spot 1 block away ?

Yelp
I have been reminiscing a lot lately about my trip to Europe last winter, specifically thinking about the first bite I took of the first pork schnitzel I ever had -- it was at a restaurant in Vienna called Glacis Beisl and it was absolute perfection. So, here I am in Portland needing to feel what I felt and I stumbled upon The Slide Inn. I had been eyeing this place since I've driven/walked by at least 100 times and finally looked them up on Yelp to find they serve exactly what I've been itching for! Got the following delivered: Pork Schnitzel Hungarian Sausage Sautéed Spätzle Pork Schnitzel - Yum! The pork thinness was perfection and the flavor was spot on! The fat lemon wedge I doused it in was all it needed. The crispiness of when it arrives at a table when dining in would have been amazing, but this type of dish can't hold that crisp when delivered. I didn't mind though because it tasted so good! Braised Red Cabbage - Exactly what you want when you order this side! Horseradish Mashed Potatoes - Delicious! Full of flavor and not overpowered by the horsey at all. Hungarian Sausage - My partner ordered this and was very happy with it! Sautéed Spätzle - Talk about bold flavors! Typically whenever I've had spätzle it's been pretty delicate and simple, but this dish was packed with great flavors and the sautee made parts of the cheese and spätzle crispy, which was fun to eat. Excited to order this again for sure. Pro Tip: You can text in your order and the owner will make it happen fast for ya!

Yelp
The food was very good, red cabbage specifically was to die for! Good service too, but it was so cold my fingers and toes hurt! It's 44 outside and I think colder inside! Dress warm or get it to go!

Yelp
01/23/19: 4.75 out of 5 - Came here after Wednesday Running Group at the suggestion of one of the runners. We've all been wanting to try a place that many of us haven't been to, so this was the first time visiting The Slide Inn...for dinner. It was absolutely amazing! The establishment is cozy with great ambiance about it. Once seated, the service staff was super friendly. Come to find out the service staff was the owner, Eugene. He shared with all of us on how many of the menu items were pretty much made in-house. That was exciting which makes the food more amazing! Towards the end of our meal, we were fortunate enough to talk more with Eugene about his foods and his background. We got to sample the House made Ginger Beer. Very tasty folks! Everything was priced well for what you get. Definitely, would be worth the wait if we had to wait. Fortunately for us, the establishment has plenty of seating. So, if you're willing or you're just in the area, give The Slide Inn a try and decide for yourself. We definitely will be visiting again, but next time for brunch. Enjoy!

Yelp
Went for breakfast with my friend on a Saturday morning, because there was no line compared to other restaurants. Got seated right away. Eye-catching decor on the inside. Menu was a block of text that was hard to read. There appeared to be only one guy working, both waiting tables and cooking in the kitchen. Took an extremely long time to get our food. Coffee was bad. Friend said Eggs Benedict was meh. I got the Austrian pancakes caramelized in sugar with a plum compote. Bad. It was both very dry on the outside but soggy on the inside. No flavor. Clumps of sugar around the pancakes pieces. I asked for maple syrup, and got like an ounce in a tiny cup. The side of 5 small potato croquettes were actually pretty good little bites.

Yelp
This place is incredible! Don't wait for an hour at the other place down the street, come in here and enjoy one of the best breakfasts you'll ever have. Literally everything is home made, even the sausage. It's cozy and cute, and the menu is perfection. I had the Austrian pancake with plums and a side of sausage, and it was the perfect way to start 2022! The owner is kind, he's working alone today. This is definitely the kind of business that you want to support!

Yelp
I ordered Christmas Eve dinner from here (super simple for 2 adults, no kids). We used Tock which the restaurant hasn't had much experience with but it was so good! It took about 10-15 min for the food to be ready. We tried a few different things so I'll give you the details! Caesar salad: how often do you eat the whole salad?? The croutons tasted house-made and the dressing was so creamy and good. The romaine was crisp and crunchy and there were large shavings of parm in the salad. We split two sausage dinners. The dinners came with mashed potato, red cabbage or sauerkraut and two of a sausage. We tried turkey sausage (gluten free) and the hungarian sausage (beef? No idea), so we each tried one of each sausage and the sauerkraut and cabbage between our two plates. The cabbage was really good, super tangy and not mushy despite the car ride home. We hadn't eaten a meal yet so we were starving or I'd have taken photos but we just inhaled everything. The turkey sausage was juicy with a snap. I thought the hungarian sausage was more gamey and dry but some people love that. Mashed potatoes weren't bland or rich, they were hearty and perfect with a light salt flavor. I didn't add anything to them. Oh, and the dinner came w a whole grain mustard (so good). Definitely will be placing another order. I was able to text with the person (owner?) and he can take venmo if you don't want to use a third party service for ordering. He also said the website has a lot more, menu selection wise, than Tock did. I used Tock because of excellent experiences with Coquine and Tock in covid times. If you are craving German inspired food that would keep Dwight able to harvest the winter beets, give Slide Inn a try!

Yelp
They were closed at 5:15 this evening (Friday night). No note, no anything... great food, local homeless camp is gone. Portland and it's flakiness just sucks.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing. The worker (who I believe was the owner) was by himself working the kitchen, serving, and bartending. He was absolutely incredible. The food was unbelievable, all seemingly homemade and many delicious gluten-free options as well. This man deserves all the best business that Portland has to offer. I absolutely recommend this restaurant and will be returning.

Yelp
Amazing food!! They have many GF options. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast places. Everything is homemade and always delicious. The couple who own it are lovely people and nice to chat with when it's not too busy. I highly recommend The Slide Inn

Yelp
Great food and great service. Owner's wife has Celiac so he is very knowledgeable about gluten free which was nice as my mom and I have Celiac. Great gnocchi and stroganoff. He makes his own sausages which my dad loved and the burger was one of the best we've had. Decor was homey and eclectic. Great experience and we'll definitely be going back!

Yelp
What a great spot! I've heard of this place and stopped by for the first time this week, and I was really impressed. I got the vegan gluten free waffles with apples, and it was so tasty. Plus the in house syrups are super delicious, I had the hibiscus and lavender, highly recommend!

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant with excellent food! And, an amazing husband-wife duo who owns and runs the place. The food is always delicious and super accommodating on various allergies (gluten free, vegetarian, etc...). The outdoor space is also great for when you have babies and dogs....one of the few spots that happily accommodates large parties for outdoor dining. We have done take out and dinning in and both are good. Highly recommend!!!!

Yelp
We ordered a gluten free breakfast for my lady's birthday The Apple fritters & apple pancake were delicious (would totally come back for) but the rice waffle and banana bread French toast was burnt all over the bottom and the bacon was waaaay over crispy. I should say we ordered for door dash.
