Chef Andy Husbands, big on the competitive BBQ scene, serves smoked meat trays with flair.
"This BBQ joint serves up all the favorites: brisket, burnt ends, pulled pork, and more, along with an admirable whiskey selection. Stop by the Smoke Shop’s original location (it has since expanded to four other locations, including the Seaport and Assembly) before heading to the Kendall Square Cinema to see the latest buzz-worthy indie flick. For pickle lovers, they serve both bread and butter pickles and sour spears." - Celina Colby, Eater Staff
"Smoke Shop opened in Cambridge in 2016 thanks to Andy Husbands (who owned the now-defunct Tremont 647), a longtime barbecue devotee and fixture on the competitive circuit. His Kendall Square restaurant and its newer counterparts in East Boston, Fort Point, Somerville’s Assembly Row, and Cambridge’s Harvard Square feature big platters of meats, from burnt ends to ribs, piled high with sides. Don’t miss the wings, coated in sticky-sweet agave and spices. On the beverage side, there’s so much whiskey. (Find a mini counter-service version of Smoke Shop at West End food hall Hub Hall, too.)" - Valerie Li Stack, Rachel Leah Blumenthal
"Andy Husbands may be known for his barbecue — brisket is a must at the Smoke Shop — but don’t overlook the wings, which are cooked with agave and pit spices. They’re some of the best in town. There’s also a hot version available, made with fermented habanero and brown butter, but nothing beats the sticky-sweet glaze on the agave version. Smoke Shop now has multiple locations all around Boston; check them out here." - Terrence Doyle, Rachel Leah Blumenthal, Erika Adams, Nathan Tavares
"Smoke Shop is hosting a bourbon and barbecue event with Horse Soldier Bourbon, featuring a three-course dinner and craft whiskey tasting." - Nathan Tavares
"Absolutely head to the Smoke Shop BBQ in Kendall Square for fall-off-the-bone barbecue. (There are sibling outposts in Somerville’s Assembly Row complex and the Seaport, as well as a takeout and delivery only shop in Harvard Square.) And remember to order some of its legendary cornbread, which is exceptional on its own — the squares of crumbly goodness are brushed with sea salt honey butter — but approaches god mode when slathered with any combination of Smoke Shop BBQ sauces. The cornbread can be ordered as a side for $1.50 per square. The Smoke Shop BBQ is open for indoor dining, and pickup and delivery via its website." - Nathan Tavares
