One of the better views in Boston as long as you sit outside. Brisket was OK, definitely a little on the dry side. Good service though! Family friendly spot.

I ordered mac and cheese bites, and they were delicious. I asked the waiter to recommend something that wasn’t spicy since I’m very sensitive to it. He suggested the pulled pork, but it turned out to be quite spicy. I immediately turned red due to my sensitivity. Then, he brought chicken with a red sauce, which also ended up being spicy. While I don’t mind a little spice, this was overwhelming—my throat felt irritated, and even my boyfriend, who enjoys spicy food, found it very strong. On the positive side, the brisket was good, though it arrived lukewarm. The cornbread was tasty, and the toasted buns were also nice. The Pepsi and water were great. To conclude, the view is beautiful, but in my opinion, this place doesn’t deserve 5 stars—it needs significant improvement.

Really good BBQ. I am very happy with the kids menu, they have a big selection. I appreciate you guys keeping kids in mind. I recommend getting the combos. The sausage was very good and you can’t go wrong with the pulled pork. The best sauce was the spicy one. Great location you have a wonderful view. The service was excellent from the host to the server to the runner. We will be coming back. I’m happy we tried this.

Visited on a Friday evening, about 5:30. We were seated right away, and our server was prompt and very friendly. The view is terrific, and the smell of smoke in the air adds to the ambiance. The menu includes the standard fare you would expect (ribs, brisket, burnt ends, and chicken) along with what I consider odd reaches (veggie patty, vegan hot bowl, zucchini salad). I will concede, however, that if they execute these outliers with the same conviction as the standard meat options, any non-meat eater who wanders in will be fed and happy. Our ribs and burnt ends were very good. The trio of sauces were solid, and the sides were a nice compliment. Good smoke flavor on the tender meats. Crispy fries, delicious baked beans with a surprise celery component that worked very well. Backside of the menu offered a large variety of drinks. A limited but nice desert menu was also available. This isn't a BBQ joint. If you're a fan of fantastic BBQ served roadside down south, you'll understand. Overall, this is a nice, slightly upscale BBQ restaurant serving satisfying food at a fair local price. Checking on ingredients for food allergies, I reached out to the website for answers. Got a prompt reply from the owner answering my questions. We were also asked twice before our order was taken. LOVE this level of service.

i don’t know about this one guys. being from the south i thought this spot would immediately be a hit for me but maybe i just didn’t order the correct things on the menu. the pulled chicken sandwich had a funny smell and taste. i’m not sure if i caught them on an off day but i couldn’t even finish my sandwich. it was very unpleasant. i’m a huge coleslaw girl and this coleslaw was very mediocre. it wasn’t flavorful at all. i also ordered a sweet tea and there was nothing sweet about it. usually at a bbq spot the sweet tea is a southern style tea. it tasted like a regular fountain drink. the french fries were okay. a bit overcooked. the flavor was nice. if they weren’t overcooked i could definitely have enjoyed them. my eight year old usually devours his fries and he couldn’t because it was too hard and some of them stuck together. not in the best way. despite the food the restaurant is super clean. the employees were pretty friendly and kind. my drink order did get mixed up but we were able to resolve it. the view of the water is breathtaking. i wish the food matched. it would’ve been a perfect combination for me. i don’t think i’ll be going back.

Being from the south, I know my BBQ, and this place did not fail! From first to last bite, mmmmmmm sounds all the way! Having a shellfish allergy makes eating at places difficult usually; however, they have an allergy guide to the menu and it made selecting my meal entrée simple and effortless. There were lots of options for me to choose from and dessert options were delicious. We selected different meats on our plate to try a larger variety. Everything was juicy, perfectly smoked and seasoned! I wish I was staying in Boston longer, this would definitely be a place I would come to more than once. Great place to watch the sunset as well.

When a customer is 100% wrong and knows it! Ordered my food from the wrong location. They were kind enough to make my food and not charge me. One thing that I'll always appreciate about the good service here, is that is backed up by a 100% guarantee you are going to like the food. Chicken wings were cooked perfect. Nice and moist! As were the bone in ribs. Always appreciate the consistency of quality this place offers! THANK YOU!

After a long drive into the city my partner and I decided to check out the Smoke Shop and we had a beautiful experience outside by the water 💗 We had been driving for a while and couldn’t decide what to get. Memo recommended some items! He was super helpful and the ribs were even better. I ended up taking a side of pimento mac and cheese home with me! Will definitely be coming back when we’re in town.

Stopped in for a beverage without plans to eat. After looking over the menu anyway decided to give the spring rolls a shot for something on the lighter side. They were fresh and the sweet and sour bbq dipping sauce was delicious with a little heat which I was expecting but loved. Fun to watch the harbor traffic while eating.

The food here was fantastic! We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a brisket plate, the serving sizes were great and the bbq sauce options were great! Service was very quick and our server was friendly and attentive. It was a quieter time in the restaurant but it was still a very good experience! You're able to sit and watch the boats from some tables, which was a definite plus.

Really good bbq food with a beatiful waterfront view! Come hungry. I recommend sharing the Pit Boss platter with another person so you can try a lot!

Bbq in New England can be tough. Unfortunately this place missed the mark. When we arrived at 7pm they were out of brisket. I had the burnt end sandwich which came two buns that were very grocery store like. So a bit soft but almost too squishy and not necessarily tasty bread. The whole meal was very plain. The Mac and cheese tasted like buttered noodles with a table spoon of jar Alfred mixed in. I was overall really disappointed. Our waitress was very kind and attentive which was nice. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy so it didn't get too loud. There is outside seating and views of TVs water which makes the location great. BTs in Worcester is a better option for those in Massachusetts looking for bbq.

Went by for an early dinner on my walk by the water. Bbq is really good and the on tap beer selection is ample. Sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive and provide new beers when needed. Nice view from the seat of the water and Boston across. The sun did become an issue and I had to move seats but overall a great experience. And the Red Sox were on TV so that was nice to root for them in town. I recommend you to visit.

What a shame to think that we ate at The Smoke Shop - East Boston, the day it opened, and I was the first Yelp Reviewer of The Smoke Shop - East Boston, and today, Sunday, October 5, 2025, is The Smoke Shop - East Boston's final day of operation. In two short years, the restaurant is now reduced to history, how sad. What a loss to East Boston. Unfortunate, that our final meal (take-out) from The Smoke Shop - East Boston, on its final day of operation, was screwed up. Our request for extra barbecue sauce was not fulfilled. I guess the staff was distracted.

Hit the smoke shop after 7 on a Wednesday, hoping for some solid BBQ. My expectations were exceeded. The view is ama as it sits waterfront looking at the Boston skyline. The hostess and server were super sweet and efficient getting things to my table. I started with BBQ peanuts. Crazy good and hard to stop eating, luckily they came with a zip top bag so I took about half to go. Then I got a combo of three sides and three meats. Went with Burnt Ends, Ribs, and Brisket. Ribs were perfectly cooked and the burnt ends and brisket were great as well. Well seasoned and tender. Sauces were delicious too. The mustard sauce on the brisket was a showstopper. Sides were on point too. The sweet potato mash was like a fine dining side. Smooth and delicious. I know there are multiple locations but it is hard to imagine they have a better view. I will 100% be back when I am in east Boston, or near another location. So excited to have landed on a crave worthy spot!

The food is just okay I don't understand why people like this place. You're overpaying because it's on the water and have outdoor seating.

Over the years, I think I've been to every one of The Smoke Shop's locations with the exception of the one in Methuen. They all provide reliably good food and a consistent, midscale BBQ-shop atmosphere. Regarding the proteins, I've had the brisket, burnt ends, St. Louis style ribs, hot links, wings, pulled pork, and pork belly. In general, they are all good but lean towards a sweeter profile. You can get them dry with the sauces on the side. I haven't found their saucing to be consistent across the locations, so it may be better just to ask for sauce on the side, depending on your preferences. I've found that the ribs and brisket can be a bit dry, but they are still very tasty. The wings are my favorite at the moment but I happen to love wings. These aren't the super crispy style of wings, so go in knowing that. Regarding the sides, I've had the brussels sprouts, mac n cheese, baked beans, zucchini salad, collard greens, cornbread, texas toast, and coleslaw. They adjust some of these over time, so check what they have when you're ordering. Everything that I've had has been pretty good, though none of the sides have been mind blowing. Good, solid BBQ sides, also generally on the sweet side. I usually get the Pit Boss, which comes with three meats and three sides. Each of the meats gives you about 4 ounces of edible meat, give or take (ex. 3 wing pieces, 3 ribs, and 1/4 pound of brisket). The delivery sides come in 1/2 pint containers, and you get 3 sides with the Pit Boss. So, that particularly meal can be a massive feast for one or a decent size meal for two depending on appetites. Overall, The Smoke Shop is a good option for BBQ in the Boston area and deserves its place as a mainstay/staple in the category.

Smoke Show BBQ in East Boston is a MUST TRY! These are hands down some of the best wings I've had in my life. The rub they use is delicious and the wings fall off the bone. Our sides were also delicious. We got the Brussels and pimento mac n cheese that were amazing. A must try if you're in the area, and on Sundays they turn on the NFL games (with sound) making the experience even better. Our server was also very friendly and we had good conversation during our time there. Being on the water overlooking the city was another great touch!

Spent a day visiting my daughter. we had a wonderful late lunch/early dinner. Great atmosphere, outstanding food and service. looking forward to my next trip! working our way through the menu!

We came for Sunday football, great place to watch the games with sound on. Good prices on beer pitchers. Highlight of the day was the food. We got the wings plate with their house rub... AMAZING. Perfect amount of sweet, spice, and flavor. We also got the Brussels, pimento mac, and cornbread.... Absolutely delicious

I came here with a small group on a Tuesday night to celebrate a friend's birthday after checking out the Tall Ship at the East Boston pier nearby. The Smoke Shop was a perfect place to hang out and we felt very welcome. The ambience is casual and low key and you can't beat the spectacular waterfront views! We even got to watch fireworks right outside the window. Since we had already eaten dinner elsewhere, none of us actually ordered BBQ (which is what they're known for), but we very much enjoyed what we did order. Two of my friends ordered the Carmelized Banana Bread Pudding, which was out of this world amazing!!! It was so smooth and creamy, and came with lots of whipped cream and cookies on top. I give that dessert 5/5 stars. One person actually ordered it the next day from Smoke Shop's Harvard Square location because it was so good! Another friend ordered the "Gooey Butter Cake- the crack," which was fine for a butter cake, but not as incredible as the banana pudding, which may be worth driving across town for. I ordered the Crispy Texas Spring Rolls off the appetizer menu as a snack. Our waitress said they are 4/10 on a scale for spiciness, but they were too hot for me. I asked for some sour cream to go with the spring rolls and was told they didn't have any, so she brought out some blue cheese dressing. I was pleased with the portion size. I got a large serving for an appetizer. Our server was attentive and friendly. I recommend The Smoke Shop and would like to check out their other locations. Next time, I will go there for a meal and order the brisket!

Nice outside seating patio area on the harbor. Great sight line view of the buildings and boats. Awesome service from the staff. Pet friendly and there is a grassy area for them out there as well. Food and drinks were delicious. The fur babies even loved the brisket lol. We were visiting from Miami so great bbq is hard to come by lol. A definite stop for some delicious BBQ in the Boston area.

As an East Boston resident, I'm stoked. There is outdoor seating along the harborwalk, with the the most beautiful views of the city skyline. There are few restaurants in town that can compete. The service was warm, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was delicious - and I would say the cook on the meat was the best of any visit I've had to a Smoke Shop restaurant. Pork belly burnt ends were pretty much perfect. I know where I'll be watching Celtics this fall! For anyone reading this, you should know that the State hasn't yet issued a liquor license. It's on the way. So.. their *mocktails* were in fact fantastic. When I've had cocktails at their Kendall location, I'd say they were unbalanced (too sweet). However, these were quite nice. And would be moreso with some spirits. One last note, I will be a *tiny bit* critical on the SC Gold Medal Sauce. It's usually my favorite style of sauce - and I felt this one was a touch too sweet. The other two sauces already have a sweet base, so I'd have appreciated a bit more of a contrast. All in all, great spot - and I'm looking forward to coming back!

Was skeptical at first about going here, but my daughter was in town and this place is close to where I live. Got a surprise. The food was really good. We got the pit boss and shared it. Come with 3 meats and sides. We chose brisket, ribs and burnt ends as our meats and beans mac and cheese and smashed potato for sides. Although not huge portions there was enough for us to enjoy. Price was reasonable for 2. Very pleasant server. I do recommend if going with someone to share

The service was good and staff was attentive. It has a great ambiance for hanging or a date night on the water. However I was disappointed in the food over all. All the BBQ was way overly salty. To the point all I could taste was salt. I am so disappointed as I was looking forward to trying this place. The bar isn't yet service as they don't have a liquor license yet. The do serve coke products, NA Beer, and mock tails currently. I hope this is just some initial opening pains and they can tweak their BBQ rubs.

A review from a vegetarian - I admit, I was a bit disappointed when I found out that Smoke Shop was going to be the restaurant going into this waterfront place. But when it finally opened and we saw some vegetarian items on the menu, we had to check it out. Our experience was quite pleasant. Friendly staff welcomes you into a gorgeous waterfront restaurant with amazing views of the Boston skyline. Dark gray clouds meant we sat indoors and admired the coastal inspired accents, include boat lights. Soon the stormy night rolled by with heavy rain and wind, and we had a great view of the action in the harbor. We sat at the bar, but we could easily turn around on the very comfortable, red bar stools. The bartender was so helpful and kind, regularly checking in on our experience. We didn't mind that the restaurant did not yet have liquor license - they had many varieties of non-alcoholic beers and wines, and fancy mocktails. As other reviews mention, the mock tails were fantastic - we had the watermelon and spicy margarita one. We tried the veggie chick'n sandwich, veggie chick'n salad, fries. We were impressed - the sandwich is an incredible value for $10 with fries the patty is very crispy, and it is served with a spicy cheddar mix that is quite tasty. We finished with the 'crack' dessert - delicious, unique, and very sweet, but would have preferred it served warm with vanilla ice cream to dull the sweetness. Try it! Needless to say, Smoke Shop was a happy surprise. It just opened and the execution of the restaurant experience was flawless. We will be returning. We live a short walk away, but if you don't, come check it and the East Boston waterfront out - an easy Blue line T or ferry away. You'll have a great time.

Visited last night for dinner. Our group tried a variety of things, smoked turkey, ribs, pulled pork. I especially loved the wings, cornbread and Mac and cheese bites. Beware the hot wings are really hot! Everything was great, we will definitely be back!

Food was okay, not as good as I was expecting it to be. The service was truly great and the location is perfect. The view of the waterfront is lovely to look at. I really wanted to love this place but personally the food just did not do it for me.

BBQ is great, view is awesome, potato salad is sort of weak but my favorite thing is the mac and cheese bites-- seriously, they're like art. The best mac and cheese bites I've ever had. Not overly fried and oily--each bite is a deliciously seasoned and flavored lump of heaven.

The pulled pork sandwich was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised. Love the waterfront location - outdoor seating with amazing skyline views. Can't beat it. Sandwich came with a side of perfectly crispy and nicely seasoned fries and a mini slice of watermelon. Drinks were also good. The one thing that needs work is the service. Little slow. They need to hire more people. Will definitely be returning.

Ambient was relaxed, immediately acknowledged at the reception area. Promptly seated viewing the city skyline. Had a Brisket Chicken Sandwich with a side of zucchini salad. If you are a zucchini lover you will absolutely love this salad. It was refreshing crunchy creamy zesty all brought together by a light sauce. Waitress was actively engaged assuring our needs were met.

As a native Texan living in New England the last 6 years, I've had my share of BBQ. Believe it or not I'm not a huge fan. The little I've had here has been just ok. This was different. From the jalapeño sausage, hot chicken sandwich sliders, to the BBQ bowl with burnt ends, There was a TON of flavor throughout. The service was timely but we weren't there during a busy time and we weren't in a hurry. The view of downtown Boston and the Harbor was Epic.

Got the pit boss on two different occasions and it was great! I got some ribs, a bit dry but good, chicken wings were excellent, the turkey was way too peppery for me, corn bread delicious, sweet potato mash delicious, pimento Mac and cheese was not for me but can see how others might enjoy it. Recently I got the fried chicken and I was a bit disappointed, the chicken didn't have any sorta crisp and the breading or whatever it's called was tasteless and the texture was not of my liking, also the chicken itself was a bit hard and chewy. It's possible that I didn't get a better offering because I did order just a few minutes before closing. Can't speak of the service as these were all online orders and only one of them was a pick up. The location and the views of the city are amazing and the ambiance seemed great, I'll have to stop by for drinks sometime soon.

Amazing food, great staff always super friendly and attentive plus the restaurant has the nicest view in the city, the buffalo fried ribs are a must, Diana makes one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had!

Great location! Clean, crisp, casual dining room with plenty of seating (booths as well as free standing tables and chairs). There's a well stocked bar too. The food , OMG, so delicious! The table is pre stocked with a bucket holding 3 different bbq sauces. We had chicken wings as an appetizer. What a treat to try each sauce, all excellent! I have never had such tender beef brisket! Pulled pork was just as tender! The sides were fresh with a bit of heat. Highly recommend this establishment!

I love this place. I love sitting at the bar. It's very spacious and has gorgeous views of Eastie. I always enjoy everything I order. Pulled pork and brisket are my go to. I usually split a pit boss with my husband. There's plenty to go around. The sides are awesome. I love the Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. I always add a side of corn bread too. It's great. It has melted butter on top. For a drink I get their watermelon beer on draft. It's always ice cold and refreshing. Beware the food is salty so if you dont like a heavy seasoning you might be disappointed. I love this place. Awesome location. Great food. Very friendly staff.

The barbecue here is great. Brisket chicken sandwich collard greens potato salad everything has a great taste to it the barbecue sauce too sweet and spicy both of them a very good I highly recommend this place I will be coming back here again the location is great especially if you live in the East Boston area

I got the half rack of ribs and they tasted amazing. The meat was hard to get off the bone which was a little disappointing but the sauce and rub was on point. The Mac and cheese was great. The views were really nice too.

Very consistent, tasty food. Especially love the sliders and the brisket and chicken sandwiches. The sides are tasty. While the wings are not typical (aka smoked, not fried), they are a fun change once in a while. I always get the food to-go, so cannot comment on eat-in service; my order is always ready promptly and accurate. Overall, a good place to get a casual but tasty meal.

I've been to other Smoke Shop locations, so I know the food was going to be excellent, but the East Boston location knocks it out of the park for atmosphere, harborside views, and service. Waiter was super kind and attentive. I got the hot wings and wedge salad- both were excellent! The hot wings aren't for the faint of heart, so if you're like me, you may want to request a side of ranch to dip them in. I left feeling full and happy but not slogged down. Definitely coming back!

Very good consistently delicious food. Fast for pickup as well. I live close to the East Boston location and the bar is amazing.

Ordered take out. Doordash brought it, wrong order after 45 minutes, restaurant is four blocks from my place. Called restaurant, they apologized and said DoorDash was given wrong order. They resent it, manager brought it over. Wrong again. Third time was the charm with a $100 gift card. Food was really good, hopefully they get their act together.

I ordered the mac and cheese and potato salad, which were both good. The breading on the fish had the perfect amount of seasoning and was crunchy, however, it fell off of the fish after the first bite. I would return to see if the food quality improves.

Over all pretty solid. I wasn't a fan of everything we ordered, but that's personal taste and o think some items on the menu are fun to try "buffalo fried ribs" and you probably wouldn't order them again. Our server was nice easy going and no real complaints. Best server ever- no. Worst server ever- not even close. The one thing that leaves a bad taste in my mouth wasn't food. On the website they note 2 hour parking near by. Well the 2 hour parking are visitor spots which came be used by residents all day and you have to go hunting for them. I get it, you want people to know that there is parking, but it should clearly state street parking in the area.

This place is awful. I'm talking about the service and management they do what ever they want ,meaning nothing . They ignore people at the bar. With all the respect to them because I'm Mexican and a chef . But they are all from the same town back in Mexico and they don't like other people if they are not from there, stupid like it sounds. If they don't want my business just tell me before to sit at the bar and wait for 10 to 15 minutes without asking if someone is taking care of me and just seeing people passing by.Food is ok.

Fantastic BBQ, great service, all with a awesome atmosphere and a million dollar view of the city! Definitely worth the trip across the harbor or through the tunnel. We are definitely going back!
