Ended up here by a happy little accident. The service was unbelievable. The second you opened the door to walk inside the gentleman at the counter, walked us through menu describe the food to us, an educated us about how it’s made. For the amount of food that we got, the prices are extremely fair! I should’ve thought about taking before photos, but this is all the leftovers that we are going home with! 10 out of 10 Recommend!!!

Google
First time stopping in for lunch but have heard nothing but great things for over a year. Got their feature sandwich, smoked pulled pork with sprouts, pickled onions, guac and a kick of chipotle aioli on a toasted brioche bun. SO GOOD! great combination of flavors and would definitely order again. Need to come back with a bigger group to try more menu items.

Google
Overall good! Atmosphere is cool. Video games to play and the food was good. Bbq sauces not great. Pulled pork good. Corn bread good. A place to go to for sure if you are in the area.

Google
Absolutely delicious! Service is excellent. You’re greeting as soon as you walk in, ordering is easy, food comes out promptly. Definitely a new favorite. Atmosphere is casual and fun. Must try if your haven’t yet!

Google
The staff were kind and helpful. The food was delicious and would love to come back. We ordered the brisket burrito and the 3 meat plate. You get to pick the meat, but I ordered brisket, chicken and pork belly. My favorite part was the 3 different kinds of bbq sauces, which you get to help yourself too. We sat outside, but there is indoor seating as well. They also have some pinball machines!

Google
Over the weekend my family did a Sioux Falls tour of pinball please. We had never heard of the smoked culture, but it popped up on Pinball Map. Of all of our stops, this one was the best. The pins look clean and well maintained. There’s a good mix of old and new machines, and the food was pretty good, too! We will for sure be back!

Google
Great food and Atmosphere! We came in close to closing they had no issue. Everything we had was fantastic. We had alittle of this and that. Definitely worth the visit and will be 1 of our stops every time we come to town.

Google
The Smoked Culture has officially taken over as our trivia location! Their food is fantastic and the menu has a good variety of items without it being too big to do well. Their tacos are delicious (esp the shrimp and pressure flip pork tacos) and their side game is very strong. Mac & cheese is creamy, the Korean inspired dishes are also great, cheesy hashbrowns (pictured) have great flavor, and I love the specials. Their service is also fantastic: kind, friendly, and helpful. I also love that they offer Pub Nerds Trivia and they even put the questions on the screen. Trivia is also decently quick and not super drawn out. If you haven’t, give the Smoked Culture a shot. They won’t disappoint!

Yelp
Great BBQ and ultimately it was lovely to have a chat with the owner and hear how he came to share his passion for BBQ. We came in when it was super dead (off season), but it was perfect for us It looks like you're supposed to go up to the counter, place your order, and clean up your own mess. But the team was so courteous, they cleaned up after us, and checked on us a few times. Everything we tried was delicious. Service was fast and employees were friendly. Thanks again for your hospitality!!

Yelp
We came back because their menu has expanded quite a bit! All really good still. I just wanted to add their new menu and the new things we tried. And of course, the service is awesome. Such fun people! The owners and staff are great, and they love hanging out with guests.

Yelp
Great find with amazing barbecue (which is difficult to find). Relaxed atmosphere, and even has video games. Only watch out is to check the hours prior to visiting, as I've been there twice where it says they are open (including the hours posted at the location), but they were closed. I'm assuming it's because of the seasons changing.

Yelp
Incredible BBQ. I've spent years in Texas, and this place would be a strong competitor in that space. It's amazing how good this place is, I'm impressed.

Paul M.

Yelp
Excellent service and choice of meats, great staff and taste. The music was a nice touch and not too loud.

Yelp
Sioux Falls has a real bbq place again! Had the brisket and jalapeño cheddar cheese sausage. Picked the hardflip hashbrowns and mar mars green beans for sides. The sides were pure comfort food! Hashbrown cheesy casserole and green beans with baked crouton like bread with american cheese. Sides were just great, not too salty and just amazing and fresh tasting in every bite. Sausage was very good too, nice snap of the casing and very good meaty flavor with the taste of jalapeño but not much heat. Saving the best for last now I wanna talk about the brisket. The Brisket is probably the best in Sioux Falls right now in 2023. The bark on the outside let me know something good happened here in this process. AMAZING smoked flavors and juiciness that doesn't even need sauce. Every bite of the meat and the bark was just bursting with slow cooked flavors. Highly recommend! Everyone was very friendly and I had great service with my to go order answering questions about the menu. Nice open airy seating areas too. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Food was good once we got it... Arrived for a rehearsal dinner with a group of about 60. The bride had called ahead one month in advance to arrange accommodations and reserve the space, and they said that it wouldn't be a problem. Flash forward and we all arrived at around 5 (the main dining room was fairly empty at this time with the exception of 2 tables), orders were taken as a group around 5:30pm. As more customers came into the main dining room, our food was delayed as they served the other customers first despite our party arriving and placing orders first. The food came out in sporadic groups, but the majority of our party was not served until 7pm with the final meals being served at 7:45pm... they close at 8pm. I had to continually ask where the remainder of our party's food was and was met with vague answers or that the kitchen was working on it. Our party spent almost three hours waiting to be served.

Yelp
Being our first time her my wife and I chose the Chili Verde Nachos and the 2 meat plate with 2 sides. On the meat plate we chose the Beef Brisket and Pork belly along with Cecis Baked Beans(Grandma's beans) and Flamin Hot Street corn. They were out of the delicious Hardflip Hashbrowns and so they brought us the corn and Cole Slaw. Nice catch. That corn had an awesome flavor and texture. The baked beans had a nice flavor. Man, that was good! Nice texture and great flavor in the brisket and the pork belly was so tender and I wanted MORE. The Chili Verde nachos did not disappoint. Crispy tortilla chips, Queso, pulled Pork and Chili Verde all blended for a delicious experience. We loved the cilantro and the flavors of the white sauce and the pulled Pork. So tender. We were full but kept trying to get a few more bites of the nachos. All in all a great experience and we will be back. I spoke to one of the management folks and thanked them for a great experience. I told him that the only disappointment I had was that we would have to be back sooner than later. Thanks.

Yelp
Food- raw and a tap beer warm $8 Service- you serve yourself so there is no service for the minimum 18% gratuity Ambiance is very nice

Jen P.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Had the spitfire pork sandwich and the buffalo chicken with bacon sandwich. Coleslaw was a nice change from use of mayo - caution for those that don't like spice it does have jalapeños. Baked beans were also delicious. Highly recommend! Service was friendly and prompt.

Yelp
Great food and service, the folks that run the place are super friendly. I love that they don't have fryers in the back so your options are a lot less greasy! Plenty of beer selections and some killer Pinball machines. Go check them out!

Matt H.

Yelp
I really like the food here and how the put a twist on traditional bbq/smoked meats. Great place to grab a drink and some food.
google avatar

Christina E.

Yelp
We ordered the 2 meat platter with pulled pork, brisket, hash browns, and coleslaw. The meat comes "naked" and they've got a gold sauce and traditional bbq sauce you can add. The brisket was AMAZING. No sauce needed--loved the rub. I also really enjoyed the coleslaw because it wasn't the traditional recipe. If you like the Mayo-based then you may not be a fan (my boyfriend wasn't). Hash browns and pulled pork were about average. Definitely worth checking this place out and we will be back to try more of the menu!!

Colton S.

Yelp
Usually am disappointed when trying BBQ restaurants, but there's really delivered everything was perfectly cooked. The service is friendly and helpful.

Cathy E.

Yelp
Excellent barbecue, service and ambiance! the barbecue was great! They are friendly and warm! Service was great too! Go! Ask for the surprise dessert!! Loved it Neal and Cathy

Yelp
Super-special-belt-busting food. Make sure you try the plethora of sides. Great find!

Yelp
Went to the Smoke Culture to try the Slamwich February 2024 sandwich called S.W.A. Sandwich with an Attitude. It was fantastic. Great flavor, smoked chimichurri was outstanding and the brisket was YUMMY! I would highly recommend the side of corn too.

Darla B.

Yelp
Food was not flavorful at all. The burnt ends were fatty, the sides (cornbread casserole, street corn, and cheesy hash browns) were not hot and tasted stale. The brisket was good but again only the crispy edges seemed to have flavor. Unfortunately we will not be back. The price $80+ after tip, far out weighed the quality of food for 2 people. Cool atmosphere, music and vibe.... NOT for little kiddos.

P S.

Yelp
Food was delicious! I tried the skirt steak and lived it. Great service and friendly.

Tim H.

Yelp
Off the hook, great food, great service, real bbq. Top notch beer selection. Nice spot

Lisa M.

Yelp
Stopped for dinner and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing. I had ribs and they were great. The service was great and the hospitality awesome. Had a nice conversation with the owner. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Good food. Atmosphere was just okay. Would eat there again. The pork belly popsicle was very good. Loved the nachos.

Marlie B.

Yelp
We tried the brisket and pulled pork plate - so delicious and the brisket melted in your mouth, they were both so tender, and didn't really need any sauce, which is rare for me cuz I am a sauce girl! Will definitely come here again! Excellent!
google avatar

Cindy D.

Yelp
The BEST hamburger I've had in my life! The chips and chili con Queso were spot on and recommend the cornbread. We will be back soon...Gotta try the brisket and pork belly! We had nice convos with the owners-husband & wife team. We're here visiting from Michigan and didn't know the restaurant just opened recently. Congrats and best wishes!

Yelp
First of all, I've never been a huge restaurant BBQ fan. I don't consider myself picky, but I've always enjoyed homemade more. I think a few places may have ruined me on it with dry or tough meat... That being said, the few things I've eaten at Smoked Culture have made me recalibrate my protein cravings. The restaurant theme dabbles in skateboarding and has an urban, hip feel to it! I can barely visualize the former establishment that I had been in so many times in the past, but not recently. That will change now that they have moved in. I cannot wait to try each item, none have let me down so far. Obviously fresh, sizable portions, and creative combinations of flavors. Just writing this makes me want to jump in the car and get a pork belly popsicle... aka Wilbur on a stick... Do yourself a favor and support this establishment. The employees and ambiance are spot on.

Bob E.

Yelp
I ordered from there today. The portions were tiny, I'm still not sure if I got the three meats I ordered. The pulled pork and if I got the pork belly, had no flavor from smoking at all. I have had BBQ from many parts of the country, this by far is the most disappointing. Not worth the price at all. Give this a pass.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
This place is simply amazing! The owners have put their heart and soul into this family run establishment! The food is smoked daily and when it's gone it's gone... for the day! But don't let that deter you, I have yet to try anything that was not amazing! Give them a try!

Cameron M.

Yelp
Great food, great portions. For what it is the atmosphere was ok for a lunch time eatery.

Yelp
What a great BBQ joint! The service was great, everyone was friendly. Very hip vibe. The food was excellent and flavors. All the Street Tacos were on point and the burned ends were desert!! I will most certainly be going back for three platters!!!

Justin J.

Yelp
My wife got the biggest tray of nachos I've seen. They were delicious and still plenty to eat later on. I had the Bigspin. It was beyond incredible. Perfect bark on the brisket that pit masters want. The queso was tasty. I loved the decor and service as well. We'll be back, this week most likely.

Jenni S.

Yelp
This is the best option for BBQ in Sioux Falls. Being from Texas, I've done my research. I enjoy the variety of food options and the cleanliness here for my lunches. The staff is exceptionally polite & helpful. My go to is usually the spitfire sandwich or the brisket tacos!

Melba T.

Yelp
I had honestly sworn off BBQ places in general in my adulthood after way too many overpriced, dry meats with boring sides. After reading reviews on this place and actually feeling excited about a menu for once, we pounced. The building itself has been completely repainted- so bright, fresh, and CLEAN. Walk in, grab a menu, find a table, and when ready to order, make your way up to the line. I love this. No need to wait on someone to take your order at your table. But also ( looking at you, Looks Marketplace) no waiting in line, rushing to pick out what you want before you're up to the register. We ordered and our food was out in under 10 minutes. Truthfully, I doubt it matters to even mention what we ordered because I bet everything on that menu is fabulous. Our buns were toasted (BINGO) Our sides were NOT boring (BINGO) and most importantly, our meat was NOT dry. ( BINNNGOOO). Loved the clean and organized self service area with sauces and water. Bathrooms were immaculate. Owner? stopped over to chat with us and thank us for stopping in. This place hits the nail on the head in every single way. We'll be back, no doubt! You guys have it figured out! Thanks a million! Side Note: Alice in Chains? System of a Down? Thanks for the great tunes while we stuffed our faces!

Yelp
Okay, Sioux Falls! Get ready for world class BBQ right in your own back yard! Passing through town, we chose The Smoked Culture (top rated) from Yelp; great reviews, yadda yadda. Yet we were unprepared for the meal that awaited us! The Korean Pork Belly appetizer, served on a (slightly) zippy slaw was amazing. So tender and flavorful! Ordered a platter with pulled pork and brisket. The meats were sliced to order (no "shreds" here). The smoke rings were deep, definitely competition worthy. Two homemade sauces, a molasses BBQ and a golden sauce with a hint of mustard were not needed on the moist meats but enhanced their richness. The sides were noteworthy as well. The beans are from a family recipe and the Mexican street corn was delicious. As we were busy licking our fingers, Ryan, pit master and owner appeared table side. He and his wife Jess have only been open for six weeks! As we talked It was clear that this couple has put heart and soul into making delicious BBQ for their community. Try The Smoked Culture - you won't be disappointed!

Richard A.

Yelp
This was my second my time eating here. The whole point of a BBQ platter is that the meats can stand alone. The brisket has no flavor nor does the pulled pork. The brisket on my plate was legit 75% fat. The loaded nachos were very good as was the cornbread casserole. Would I give them a third try I think not. Too expensive for the flavorless main dishes. I would suggest that maybe the pit master work on his rub and select a better wood for the meats.

Dave S.

Yelp
First I don't like giving bad reviews, but this place was such a disappointment. The brisket sandwich had no bbq flavor. Way too much cheese and greasy tasting sandwich. My wife couldn't eat her chicken tacos because of all the hot spice. Over $30 for bad lunch. Would not ever go back.

Michael K.

Yelp
I have eaten BBQ in top regions and cities all cross the US and this one is tops. Sioux Falls is lucky to have this new gem for GREAT BBQ and service. The owners are very hospitable and have also revamped the entire place. Top notch spot, run don't walk to get there!

Bradley C.

Yelp
I'm no connoisseur on BBQ or smoked foods generally, but this place had some of the best bbq I've ever had. They were pretty quick as well. I've never been in a skateboarding-themed restaurant before. It was a great first impression, and I really appreciate the painting of St. Thérèse of Lisieux.

Tim H.

Yelp
Really, really good. I highly recommend the beef brisket and corn bread. I'm guessing everything else as just as amazing. We'll definitely stop here whenever we pass through Sioux Falls.

Marc D.

Yelp
Awesome bbq at a reasonable price. Unexpectedly flavorful hamburgers, and the smoked wings and sauces are the best. I am not a wing person, but I crave these.

Anne G.

Yelp
I stopped by their truck. Best brisket since Texas. Can't wait for the new restaurant.

Deb H.

Yelp
Love this place! Stop by you won't be disappointed. Great food, friendly atmosphere and team service.

Deborah B.

Yelp
Great food , atmosphere and Great staff- Awesome! You will want to come back! The warm cornbread is fantastic!

Phillip T.

Yelp
Fantastic Texas style BBQ, cold beer and great staff. Almost felt like I was back in the Hill Country. The biggest thing is to make sure you are there early enough to get your food cause once they are out they shut down for the day.

Joe S.

Yelp
Type of place where you get food to eat there plus get food to go as well for when you are craving at bedtime. My kids talk about their skateboard stickers everyday and it is a joy to have a goal of trying everything on the menu, because it is made to order with no pre-made sandwiches and the meat is always juicy. The brick and mortar is eye-catching inside which can make you slowly stop on your way to the bathroom to look at all the walls. Relaxing and enjoyable.

Brett E.

Yelp
Absolutely awesome. Best bbq I have ever had. Fresh everyday. Get the brisket Sammie or the pork belly tacos
