A Late-Night Dining Survival Guide for the Twin Cities

"The Sonder Shaker, serving burgers alongside green curry mussels and grilled peach salads, has the feel of a modern American brasserie. Happy hour bites (think karaage and surf-and-turf tacos) are served alongside cocktails on Fridays and Saturdays, from 10 p.m. to midnight." - Justine Jones, Eater Staff

The Best Happy Hours in Minneapolis and St. Paul - Eater Twin Cities

"Sonder Shaker, just across the river from Nicollet Island in Minneapolis, has a hearty happy hour food menu: Fill up on a wagyu burger, surf ‘n turf tacos, or pork sliders. If you’re looking for something lighter, try the strawberry poppy seed salad. (Note that this isn’t the cheapest happy hour — most dishes are around $12.) Two dollars off all cocktails, beer, and house wine by the glass, daily from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10 p.m. to midnight. On Sunday, happy hour runs all night." - Alex Lodner, Eater Staff

New name and new menu in the same space as the previous Sonder Shaker. Very comfortable and modern. Smells like bright lemon as soon as you walk in. We ordered the fried polenta,, marinated olives with mozzarella, the focaccia, and shared the lemon spaghetti. All were very good, the spaghetti was simple and bright and the pasta was cooked well. Very wonderful service at the bar and excellent adult beverages. We enjoyed our visit.

Update: still waiting to hear back I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations. I ordered focaccia as an appetizer, it didn’t look freshly made in my opinion, and it was somewhat hard. Balsamic vinaigrette or/and olive oil on the side could have been a good addition, instead of just butter. My main course was risotto. Sadly, the flavors weren’t balanced. There was too much on the top of it of what appeared to be corn flakes plus corn in the dish. I am disappointed that I couldn’t finish it. The service could use some improvements as well. Not as friendly. I don’t think I would be returning.

Ignore any review before May3, 2025 which were for the previous wildly successful local favorite Sonder Shaker. Suddenly it magically transformed into the Italian Celio. well, it actually looks the same on the inside, but the menu is completely new without even a single carryover. but, it’s still delicious. The calamari was lightly breaded not a bit chewy and had a delicious sauce that was not marinara. I like the deep fried polenta but not quite sure how it sticks all together. The two sauces were a little sweet and a little spicy. Perfect. We shared the Tuffoli pasta and this is my half which was plenty. We miss Sonder Shaker. It's not better but different and just as good. We will be back.

If you’re looking for a trendy, upscale, underrated restaurant, this is your place. The atmosphere here is dimly lit, vibrant with people, and full of life. The bar is a great place to drink and eat as the staff are very engaging and take really good care of you. The cocktail menu is like no other and the food comes out hot and delicious. They have a well oiled machine here! The chicken sandwich is amazing! Perfect for a date night or celebrating with friends!

This place was great! The passion fruit boudino was a pleasant surprise... I was skeptical at first, like, don't mess with chocolate perfection, but it was amazing!

Google
Absolutely loved this place! The staff greet and happily direct you to desired tables. The service is prompt and continuous. We had the Wagyu burgers. It is now an Italian eatery. So I believe no more yummy Wagyu smash burgers. However, now there's delicious Italian delights. You will be very happy with the decor and the service and the atmosphere and mostly the food. Still a great restaurant.

Google
Good unique options for pasta dishes. Drinks were great, apps and small plates were good and there were a number of options where you could have more of a small plate meal, or a full dinner. In my opinion the noodles were a bit over cooked for a noodle place and the flavors of everything just weren’t quite right. I can’t remember exactly what I got but it was basically ravioli with Saffron and blueberries and a cream sauce. I get the feeling their menu will evolve and change as they get their feet wet. Atomosphere was nice. I like the greenery’s and it was comfortable and tables had good space. Not too squished.

Google
Lovely place on Hennepin Ave, just slightly north of the bridge. Simple but intentionally decorated. Great service. Quickly came over, checked in and food came out quickly. Small menu but the food is unique and the flavors are there, not incredible but satisfying and interesting, which I appreciated. Drinks were strong and if that is something you indulge in, you would really like. They keep a water jug at the table. We started at 5:00pm weekday, so during happy hour and ordered the Bougie Fries and Kale Salad (shared both) and they were great. If you don't like beets, you may not enjoy this salad but it was a great blend of flavored. We also ordered drinks, The Sangria and were both interesting. Great deals during happy hour. My friend also tried the Grape Ape and Sonder shots and enjoyed them. Parking is on the street and can sometimes be tricky to find, so plan ahead if you have reservations. Street parking is paid parking.

Yelp
Sonder Shaker exceeded our expectations in every aspect. Despite being a cocktail bar primarily, it offers an array of delightful dishes that left us thoroughly impressed. Parking was a breeze, even on a busy weeknight, thanks to ample street parking nearby. The location is convenient and easily accessible. The Sonder Burger was a full of flavor. It stood out as one of the best burgers I've had. Meanwhile, the Bolognese stole the show, earning our choice as possibly the best dish in the Twin Cities. The pork inside was nothing short of fantastic. The ambiance inside was charming and cozy, setting the perfect vibe for a memorable dining experience. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff making sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit. Their happy hour selection is impressive, promising a return visit just to explore it further. Overall, our experience at Sonder Shaker was nothing short of exceptional. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, drinks, and vibes in the Twin Cities.

Yelp
Visited the Sonder Shaker for some pre dinner drinks on behalf of a coworkers recommendation. The place did not disappoint so much so that I need to go back for dinner/lunch. We were celebrating our anniversary and were treated to a lovely complimentary glass (for each) of champagne. Thanks for to our lovely bartender Whitney. We sat at the bar and the seats were comfy and the tv was playing the Timberwolves playoff game...yay! I also indulged in their Poolside cocktail (similar to a margarita) - it was delish. What a beautiful cocktail too! Hubby had some IPAs and enjoyed their selection of beers. The place has very unique decorations which you need to check out and take in. I love the tequila bottle decorated lamp. I really can't wait to come back and check out their food menu. We were right next to the kitchen and everything looked amazing!!!

Yelp
We were looking for a spot to grab a bite before a showing at The Main Cinema and happened upon this spot. We were a bit nervous with the amount of construction outside, but were happy to see the restaurant was open. We started with the Brussel Sprouts which had the perfect combination of sweet and savory as well as chewy and crunchy. Thank goodness the server warned us about sizing. The small was more than enough! The Sonder Burger had the perfect ratio of beef and fat. The meat was flavorful, the bun was high quality, and the cheese with the Sonder Sauce elevated it further. The fries were crispy while also meaty. This absolutely satisfied my burger craving. The Paccheri Bolognese was out of this world! The sauce was thick and creamy with a hint of spice. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the Ribeye was honestly a surprise beneath the rest of the dish. We thought the ribeye was in the sauce with how meaty it was. Although we were overly full following the meal, we loved every bit of it.

Yelp
We came for happy hour on a Friday at 4:30pm. There was plenty of seating at this time but by 5:30 it was almost full. There is metered street parking along Hennepin and the side of the restaurant as well. They have some of their popular dishes on the happy hour menu and 50% off cocktails. It's a small simple menu. The brussel sprouts were perfect! I loved the the sweet heat glaze that caramelized on the crispy Brussels sprouts. Add in some pork belly and fresh lemon and muah! Perfecto!. Plus it's a huge portion side even for happy hour. I was really disappointed in the bougie fries though. The parmesan was sprinkled on top and not even melted. I didn't taste any garlic and the fries were stale. The burger was tasty though! No issues with service.

Yelp
I thought that the place was fun. The food was good and it was overall a good place to eat out with friends. The bolognese had great flavor, and the burger was solid. Worth a night out!

Yelp
My husband and I love to go try new and wonderful food and especially love when we can do a happy hour restaurant hop (aka go to a couple in a row). Sonder Shaker is always on our stopping point. They have great cocktails and wonderful Brussel sprouts!

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick dinner and a couple drinks before a concert at the target field. It was busy but not completely full so we got seated quickly since we had a reservation. The tables are close together which gives it kind of a cozy feel. It was still happy hour so we got some drinks and ordered off of the happy hour menu which was pretty good menu as far as happy hour menus go. Both the drinks were yummy. Exactly what the doctor ordered. The chicken karaage appetizer was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside with a pickle and some kewpie mayo. The florist were a little mild but still flavorful. We both got the wagyu burger which was a good smash burger with a good lattice. The Sonder sauce was tasty. And the fries were fresh too. A good first experience and would definitely be on my list when I am craving a burger. Simple but tasty.

Yelp
I like Sonder Shaker! They have good cocktails (especially the spicy Pool Rules), a spacious dining room and a varied menu. We had a weird pork wing dish one time but otherwise all the food has been pretty good. Service here has always been prompt and kind for me. I need to get here for their happy hour deals!

Yelp
This is an odd review so take it as you may. My mother-in-law, wife, and toddler had dinner here and apparently leaving they misplaced their leftover Brussels sprouts. She called back to ask about them (they are good!) I came in as the guy tasked to pick up the leftovers. Turns out they couldn't find them so they cooked up a small batch instead. I thought that was such a kind gesture that it deserved recognition. Also I got to try the Brussels sprouts absolutely worth it!

Yelp
Super cute atmosphere and even cuter staff (wink), but kind of a small menu. We got here on Wednesday evening, so we tried the Wednesday special "date night". It comes with one starter, two drinks, two entrées and a dessert for $85. It's a pretty good deal considering. The problem is the entrées. You only have six choices and two of them up charge for the date night special, and two of the other ones are burgers in one's a sandwich. So you're kind of stuck with grill-type food. The starters are kind of unique, and we have the brussels sprouts with hot maple glaze and pork belly. That stuff is flipping delicious! They had several other starters that I would probably rather have than the entrées. For my entrée, I have a jalapeño pasta. Super creamy, not too heavy on the jalapeño, and very very tasty ! For dessert they have very few choices. They got a strawberry tiramisu, ice cream sandwich "who knows what flavor because it's a rotating flavor", and Paul's pie, which is also a rotating flavor. But, I'm visiting Minneapolis and I'm hanging out with my son and I'm eating food and then having cocktails. So what the hell else do I want?? Ha! I would come here again for the atmosphere and the cute staff, and because the location is amazing, the drinks are good, but I would probably just have starters.

Yelp
Chill vibes Good happy hour Good service Check out We had the chicken karaage, bougie fries, chicken sandwich, wagyu burger (not pictured), pool rules, and mogwai after dark (not pictured) Get extra of the sauce from the bougie fries. I used it for my chicken sandwich as well.

Yelp
Go for happy hour! Fun drinks, great service, cute place in the up and coming northeast neighborhood!

Yelp
After a long trip to Central Europe, I was kindly welcomed home by my friends and immediately shepherded off to The Sonder Shaker for my first meal back in Minnesota. I had never been here before, but basically everyone I know has been raving about this place so I knew I needed to try. We made a reservation which was great since the place was pretty packed despite it being a weeknight so highly recommend doing the same if you plan to visit. The interior design is pretty cool with a sort of a mid-century modern aesthetic that's common at trendy places lately. We all decided to split an order of the Brussel sprouts which was good because they ended up being fantastic. They had a nice sweet and savory sort of flavor, that was perfected with the generous use of their maple syrup. I loved every bite of these and we were all fighting over the last pieces. For the main entree, I decided to go with the Wagyu Burger and Fries. Now, I had really high expectations for this burger as this the one item everyone swears and it still blew my expectations away. The burger is a double smash patty which is my favorite style of burger. The meat is crispy, but yet juicy. The cheese is perfectly melted, and every single bite feels like you died and went to heaven. This may be my favorite burger in the metro area, although it's close with a few others for me. Definitely, the best smash one for sure. It is a little pricey so keep that in mind, but I think it's definitely worth the price every once in a while. Highly recommend everyone check it out!

Yelp
First time at Sonder shaker and enjoyed my meal. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and it comes with side of greens, $19. If you want fries it's an extra buck. The chicken sandwich all comes together so well, it comes with their own style of coleslaw-- it was tasty, chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. Salad was simple, greens with a sweet dressing-- quite refreshing! I was pleased to see Non-alcoholic Mocktail options on their menu. I ordered the NA pear ginger shrub $11 and it was good, it had a nice bitter tone from the ginger which made my drink feel strong. Ambience was tranquil, low lit area and a lot of people enjoying their Friday night with drinks. I felt comfortable, great spot to chat with friends or date over a meal/drinks. Service was slow, our waitress would forget things but that wasn't something that bothered us too much-- we were in our own world chatting away.
google avatar

Yelp
Really cool spot with lots of unique menu options! They don't have a huge menu but everything they do have is not found at many other restaurants and what we tried was all delicious. Would highly recommend the pork wings! The service was pretty average but not bad and the restaurant itself has a classy vibe where you could go for a very casual date or even a super formal event. Will definitely be coming back to try some other options

Yelp
Updated Review... well there's not too much to update but they did change their fries. The fries are what's holding this back from being five stars. My last visit they were a wedge type fry. This visit it was shoestrings. They went cold quickly and just weren't crispy enough. Damn it. Send someone out west to 6Smith or Noble Lion. These are my benchmarks for fries. As for the wagyu burger... holy shit it's still so good. Steamed bun makes it appear wet in photos, but the bun has a perfect butter sear to it and really ties the things inside together. Things inside include two smashed patties, loads of gooey American cheese, pickles, and a tangy special sauce. Top notch.
google avatar

Yelp
It was a great experience to be at the Sonder Shaker. Been aware of the highly reviewed burgers and finally had a chance to try it out myself. Their bun of the burger is really good. The crispy edge of the patty is also yummy. We also ordered the hummus plate, as well as the rib wing as appetizers. The hummus was amazing. Took one star off because of the parking situation.

Yelp
Looove this spot! I've been here a few times now and each time was better than the last. The service is great and the food is better. The last time I went was happy hour with a friend before watching a movie. We got the roasted cauliflower and fries and wow was everything delicious! Their HH specials are pretty great. We got the sangria and it didn't disappoint. We are definitely making this our HH + movie spot!
google avatar

Yuri R.

Yelp
Love this place! I got their mojito but I ordered it without alcohol and it was one of the top 3 for me. The food is good and service was pretty good. I ordered the wagyu burger and I really liked it. Liked it so much that I would come and eat it again. My friend got the chicken sandwich and that looked good as well. The inside of the restaurant is pretty dark but I didn't mind. It's good spot for a date, girls night, or even to have lunch/dinner with friends. Parking is pretty easy to find sometimes since it's mostly meter parking on the street.
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
What a 10/10 burger! Insanely delicious smash burger style of cheeseburger with pickles and a house sauce that really take it to the next level. I tired the cauliflower side and it was also very good. Nice yogurt style of sauce that was a nice accompaniment. The old fashion cocktail was strong and delicious! Overall one of my favorite food experiences in MPLS. The restaurant is super nice, great atmosphere, tables are distanced enough to keep the volume low, and nice decor inside. Parking can be a little difficult on the busy nights in NE. Service was super nice but a little on the slower side. Not too bad though, and it did not take away from the night.
google avatar

Alexandra M.

Yelp
I enjoyed sonder shaker. We went before dinner for drinks and apps and I am not sure I would go for dinner. The drinks and fries we got were pretty pricy so it would be a special place to go. The environment was nice but very dark so much more romantic than I knew since I was going with a friend. Service was good as well.
google avatar

Charlie P.

Yelp
Very cool vibe inside, love the hip look! There is inside and outside seating. Cocktails are tasty and a lot of variety. Food is good, some a bit bland though. There is a good sounding late night menu and happy hour menu but the food items are only available during that window of time! I wish it was available on the regular menu but maybe discounted during those hours. Servers are nice and friendly. It is stroller friendly.
google avatar

Kendal F.

Yelp
I have a great experience every time I go to The Sonder Shaker! The vibes are great, the drinks are fun, and the food is fantastic. I crave their burger that is simple in toppings with just cheese, a special sauce and pickles, but is so flavorful and delicious - it's one of the best in town! I also really enjoyed the brussel sprouts which were the perfect combo of sweet and spicy. The only thing I wouldn't get again was their espresso martini which was too bitter for my liking, but other than that, everything I've had here has been 10/10.
google avatar

Amirissa M.

Yelp
Meal was perfectly fine, however, there were a few things that occurred that I would consider non-negotiable. The walleye with red curry sauce, broccolini, and crispy shallots was tasty. The curry sauce specifically was delicious, and I enjoyed it immensely. However, it was listed as an entree and seemed more like a small dish or something that you should order an additional side with. At $27, that's not what you would expect. Additionally, there were quite a few bones still left within the walleye. The Strawberry Rhubarb Bread Pudding was tasty, however, what makes bread budding so satisfying is the varying textures and caramelization of the parts that are exposed or sit along the pan. There was no caramelization at all: it was more of a tres leches cake.
google avatar

Julia L.

Yelp
Great place for shareables during their happy hour. Cute decor, dress is little-nicer-than-usual casual. A friend and I tried these dishes: - honey crisp wedge - Brussels sprouts - burger w/ carne fries - crème Brule They were all great in flavor but I think the wedge and Brussels lacked in texture compared to other restaurants that offer the same dish, specifically the Brussels were too soft inside/not as crispy on the outside as expected.
google avatar

Monica N.

Yelp
Snagged bar seating as soon as some people left since it seemed to be a pretty busy night for burgers. I'm on the hunt for best burger and old fashioned so I got to "hit two birds with one stone". I loved the ambiance here. Service was great. The burger was just a bit too greasy for me. The flavor was there though! I got butternut squash soup as my side and oooh, I cleaned that bowl. The toppings on the soup just made it that much tastier! Brussel sprouts with pork belly was pretty good as well.
google avatar

Billy C.

Yelp
this place is bomb. I need to add like 85 more characters, ya heard. Seriously , great food, even better drinks.
google avatar

Josh N.

Yelp
Two words: date night. Not only does that perfectly describe the feeling of Sonder Shaker at night, but they also have an AMAZING date night special on Wednesdays. We stumbled across Sonder Shaker when we were condo shopping, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that our experience here was part of what convinced us that the neighborhood was so amazing. I truly believe that Sonder Shaker has the best burger in all of Minneapolis. While the rest of their food is good, the burger is SO good that it's actually really hard for me to even want to eat anything else. On top of the great vibe and amazing food, they have fun and inventive cocktails and accessibly-priced, yet delicious wines. If that all wasn't enough to keep us coming back forever, the service seals the deal. Every dinner or brunch here has been great in large part because of the kind and attentive staff.
google avatar

Arden N.

Yelp
Great spot for dinner and even better for happy hour! Everything we've tried on the menu has been fabulous, and I definitely recommend getting the bougie fries to start. Cocktails are delightful and half off during happy hour. Service was friendly and very prompt. And the vibe is super cozy and romantic while still feeling spacious and airy. Definitely recommend for a date night.
google avatar

Yelp
There's a lot to like about Sonder Shaker. I had their delicious burger. Wow that as good. It had "animal sauce" that was suspiciously similar to Big Mac sauce, but it worked. I had lunch (they called it brunch but I eat earlier than most people). I was seated right away and served quickly. One of their innovations is defaulting to serving greens with the burger. We all know greens are better for you than fries but I kinda go with the flow so when they ask if fries are ok, I say yes. But if they ask if greens are ok, then I say yes so now I've got greens to balance against eating a burger. Speaking of greens, if you don't want a lot of dressing, get it on the side. I try to be low maintenance, but I think this is going to be my new MO. The restaurant is right on the corner, but signage is low key so be sure to keep a lookout or you'll walk right by. I had to choose between the burger and chicken and waffle which is nearly impossible. So next time: chicken and waffle it is.

Yelp
It's been awhile since I've been here, but I love this restaurant all the same. My friends and I stopped by for some food after a drink next door at Nye's. It was around 10:00 PM, and we were greeted and seated immediately. It seemed to be a very popping place even at night! The food: they were having happy hour without us even knowing it! We ordered the loaded style house fries, Brussels sprouts, and pork sliders (not pictured). The food came out quick and was so delicious. They really have fantastic American style food here! The ambiance: there was a lot of seating available- they had bar seating, tables, and booths. The lighting was dimmed which gave it a very intimate feel inside. The restaurant was filled with happy, chatting people. This was a very fun spot to end our night! Service: our server was lovely! She was very attentive and gave us recommendations from their happy hour menu. She brought our food out quickly and checked in with us often. Great service here! Parking: they do not have their own lot, so street parking is the only option. They are in a busier area of northeast, so prepare to parallel park! Overall, I truly love this restaurant. It was my first Valentine's date with my partner, and I had a lot of fun here with my friends. Great memories have been made inside. If I was closer, I would come here more often without a doubt!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to The Sonder Shaker on a Saturday night. We made reservations before hand for the Dining Room area of the restaurant. When making the reservation there were a couple of options for where you could sit. I chose the dining room as I wanted comfortable seating and a quieter atmosphere for us to talk. The dining room ended up being the space next to the bar and we were sat at a table either barstools. This is my personal preference and nothing against the restaurant but I hate barstools. We each ordered drinks, I got a glass of Prosecco and my boyfriend got their rotating cocktail. The cocktail had a delicious cucumber flavor and was really refreshing! We both ordered the burgers. I don't always love having a burger at a nicer restaurant but wow were these good. They had wagyu beef and the best sauce on them. They were the perfect amount of rich and savory. The burgers came with a side salad and we also ordered a asker of fries to share. This was probably one of the best burgers I have had in my life.
google avatar

Katie Y.

Yelp
Cute place! Food and cocktails were good. Wagyu burger was delicious. Would come back for cocktails or casual dinner!

Yelp
This was my first time going to Sonder, and I loved it. There is some street parking so I would suggest just Uber in there. It had a really cozy and nice ambience, good lighting, and it was spacious. It is on the pricier side, so just be mindful of that going into it. We ordered the hummus which I thought was as expected wasn't amazing, but wasn't bad. Then we ordered the burger, which was so good, one of the best burgers in the Twin Cities. And lastly ordered some fingerlings for aside, and they were fine. They were pretty average. But the COCKtails were so good, I got the two Mezcal cocktails and they were a nice mix of Smokies, sweet and a little spicy. I highly recommend the spot if you're looking for a cozy cocktail lounge.

Yelp
Surprised to see that I was the last yelp reviewer in Sept. Had eaten here 2 times since then and tonight was my cousins birthday, I suggested The Sonder Shaker as being one of the best burgers I have ever eaten, we had planned on going out Tuesday night to celebrate her birthday but I pushed for tonight because it was her actual birthday today and because it was 15% off service industry night. I own my own business and turned in my business card with tonights bill. The drinks were great, service was great and food was delicious. The manager was quite the cocky gentleman, he came over and said we did not qualify for service Industry night as my estate sale company was night a service industry business, I explained why they have always accepted my card in the past for times of eating here on a Monday but now it no longer qualifies, his response was well I guess you lucked out the other 4 times. I got home and googled what service industry is, definition: a business that does work for a customer, and occasionally provides goods, but is not involved in manufacturing. I do work for customers AND provide goods. And have attached a photo of the definition. I do love this place but sorrily can say that after treatment I received tonight and almost shaming me I will NOT be back! I did take additional pictures but I feel since I will not be putting my approval on this place any longer I chose not to submit. Wish I could be giving a raving review. Walking away from this establishment a sad customer. The cherry on top of all this was, the manager came outside saying we had NOT left cash on the table. Yelling hit. REALLY? I went back in and loudly said "there was not cash left at our table for the bill? His response," yeah, I guess there was" What a jerk!!

Yelp
Sonder shaker is one of my favorite places in the cities. I especially like to go to their late night happy hour starting at 10pm where they have deals on drinks and food. The drinks are generally super well-made, and the food is definitely above average for a place where I mainly go for drinks, if that makes sense. However I'm not sure I would go just for the food.

Nicole N.

Yelp
Small menu, but exactly what I needed after a long work week. Sat at the bar on a Thursday night and had excellent service! The Still Life cocktail was extremely refreshing and the brightness really helped to cut through the richness of the smash style Wagyu burger. Speaking of the burger, it just melts in your mouth. So dang good. Fries were standard, but honestly the right move with how much flavor the burger packed. Will absolutely consider stopping in again next time I'm in Minneapolis!

Yelp
This place was fantastic!! The hubs did a bit of research and his decision was quite sound. We sat at the bar to people watch :) I had a glass of the Provence Rose and husband had a couple beers. I selected the Ahi Tuna sandwich and it was fantastic. The mix of the wasabi Mayo and pickled onions was a very unique flavor that I will crave forever. Husband ordered the pork chop dinner and wow- the smokey sauce that came with a perfectly grilled pork chop was amazing. Never tasted anything like this before. The ear of corn was also perfectly cooked and seasoned, great pairing. We were quite impressed. We always enjoy the 'bartender show' as well, so that was fun to see all the creative cocktail creations- great, friendly service. Place was lively and looks like this is a popular spot. Can't go wrong here. Total was $83 prior to tip.

Yelp
Great food, creative drinks. Open and airy semi-industrial ambiance. Seating was awkward (table was in the upper part of my chest) and service/food prep was quite slow in spite of what appeared to be ample staff, many congregating at a rear table (maybe done w their shift?); aside from that staff was very friendly and helpful. Had apple/radish salad and both burgers -delicious. The cowgirl burger had a lot going on and was a little too sweet for my palate but my partner enjoyed it immensely -all the barbecue heaven in one dish. I had the Waygu burger because I'm something of a purist and it was perfect. One of the most perfect burgers I've had and the brussels sprouts sides were to. die. for. Goonies drink is very tasty. Long wait situation may have been a staffing one off so I do plan to return and give it another go.

Yelp
The burger and the drinks live up to the hype! The burger is buttery....cheesy....perfection. I got the goonies drink and couldn't be happier with it. Also the side salad that came with the burger was dressed with a super-creamy-but-also-somehow-light dressing (I'm sorry--it's indescribable). Great service. Good atmosphere. Very happy with my experience here!

Yelp
Cool vibes, friendly service. Try the Pool Rules cocktail...quite nice. Also, if you want a legit delicious Irish Coffee (artfully crafted with high-quality coffee and other flavorings, not just whiskey dumped in cheap coffee), don't miss this one. Can we talk about how this awesome brunch menu appears to be sadly underappreciated? There were maybe two other tables in the entire restaurant. GUYS. COME TRY THEIR BRUNCH. Highlights: - Whatever you order, get a side order of a bacon pancake to share. Their pancakes are fluffy and large and delicious. - Crispy potatoes are some of the best seasoned I've ever had. - My poached eggs were perfectly poached. - My partner had the wagyu breakfast burger...lemme just say I'm not a fan of PB&J flavors on a burger, but he loved it. Their happy hour and dinner menus also look super solid. I'll come back next time I'm in Minneapolis!

Yelp
The atmosphere is decent, and the music was actually at the right level so that you could both hear it and have a conversation without raising your voice. We only stopped in for dessert and a glass of wine and a cocktail, all disappointing, alas. The budino had something of a plasticine texture. The Albariño was uninteresting, no complexity and the flavor worsened as it came to room temperature. The Old Fashioned was simply bad. Also, I really don't ever want to look into a kitchen and see a cook eating at their station while they work. I think we just wrote this one off as a $60 dollar lesson in poor decision making.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Sonder Shaker since they reopened post-COVID 19 shutdown. I made a reservation but on the night we went, we decided to sit at the bar to watch talk to the bartenders (mixologists) and it was quite entertaining. As soon as I saw the Bounce House drink on the menu, I knew we'd be going since it has all of my favorites - vodka based w/ some heat. The drink is described as Chili Vodka, pineapple soda, lime, and piri piri and it's very good. As for food, everything on the menu looks good but we had the shrimp and grits which had some nice sized, charred shrimp and creamy grits. I had the burger which was hearty and perfect for the night. Also split a side of brussel sprouts which had a terrific maple glaze and nice chunks of pork belly that weren't too fatty. Between the nice day, great service and friendly bartenders, drinks and good food, it was an enjoyable evening. We went a little early and things got busier throughout the evening. Sonder Shaker is very walkable for those who live downtown or there's metered street parking nearby. The bottom-line is if you want good food and great drinks, make sure to stop by The Sonder Shaker across the river from downtown.

Yelp
We came here for brunch, which is a newer offering. It was just okay - we probably won't come back given all the amazing brunch options in the Cities. They were out of a basic menu option and it was early Saturday and not busy at all, so that seemed odd. The staff were lovely. The vibe felt off as well, but we couldn't quite put our finger on it. Maybe they do dinner better.

Yelp
Best Brussel Sprouts in town! Bartenders are friendly and provided great service. If you have not tried it, put it on your list - great vibe and great location.

Yelp
Another review for Sonder Shaker because I had another 10/10 experience! I love the North East area, and I love the atmosphere at Sonder Shaker! They have the best cocktails, and such a lovely space inside. I truly believe they have one of the best burgers in Minneapolis - and I have been on the hunt to find the best! We of course got their burger, which is a smash burger with special sauce, pickles, and buttery bun! Very very good, something I will get every time I'm there! We also got cheese fries which was a must, duh! Their mussels are my favorite thing we get there. I love mussels so much, and what's great about theirs is they are soaked in a spicy Asian broth that gives them so much flavor. And who doesn't love a little bread on the side of their mussels to dip into the broth? Wonderful date night spot, and it's a great location in North East!

Yelp
The food was great and the service was even better. The Sonder Shaker provides a cozy environment and has the perfect ambiance for a uniquely crafted cocktail.

Yelp
Unfortunately not the experience we expected, with the reviews we'd seen. We went in for the $85 date night and ended up spending over $120 (after taxes and a tip) on a pretty mediocre dinner. The old fashioned and brussels sprouts were tasty, but the steak and the wagyu burger were bland and left much to be desired. Sadly not worth the money spent.

Yelp
Had a great first experience here! Stopped in with my partner today for an early dinner. We were seated at the bar and the bartender informed us it was "Date Night" and walked us through what that entailed. Sounded like a win to us so we started off with ordering our drinks and appetizer. The butternut squash soup was FANTASTIC! We were both impressed! I ended up ordering the burger (one of the best I've had in the city-imo) and my partner got the skirt steak- everything was delicious and with good portions. For dessert we had the s'more bread pudding which was also pretty good. Our server was really great, very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back!
