Best Speakeasies to Sneak Into in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"This Oceanside bar is known for its outer space theme — think neon lights and lava lamp-inspired decor. To enter, guests must go through the Kilowatt Brewing tasting room in Ocean Beach where an otherworldly experience awaits on the inside: a blacklight museum, an infinity room with mirrors, LED immersive light shows, and games like pinball. The sci-fi speakeasy features extensive food and beverage offerings such as Hawaii-influenced hot dogs topped with pineapple and Japanese plum, poke bowls, crispy Spam tacos, and loaded nachos with jalapeños and shredded beef. The showstopping beverages on the menu include the Carajillo Puesto — a Licor 43 coffee-infused drink served in a mushroom-shaped glass and garnished with bruléed cane sugar rock candy." - Roxana Becerril

Lovely lil bar! Definitely a hidden gem and in such an unassuming place. The interior design was eye-catching, service was wonderful, and drinks were delicious! I had a Carajillo Puesto and it was so good, highly recommend if you like coffee flavors and sweeter drinks! 😋

This AMAZING Oceanside gem is located in the back of Kilowatt bar. I recommend a reservation but they were able to accommodate 3 of us at the bar with ease. The drinks were fire! Great atmosphere and fun ambiance.

Came for a short vacation to San Diego and ended up for quick cocktails before dinner at this out of this world space speakeasy- what a fabulous surprise - I had a blast and Alex-Anne was so much fun and made spectacular cocktails after helping me decide. There were so many options and the drinks and bubbles and smoke and flying space ships and the enthusiasm from her and the fitting sound effects felt more like a destination than a quick cocktail stop. Go there! You will never forget it. Thanks again for making us feel so welcome. Definitely one of the best bartenders I’ve ever had.

Google
Bartender was wonderful during our visit. The drinks were amazing as well! I love the atmosphere of this speakeasy. We got the beam me up (pineapple with the light) & cosmic coil. Both drinks were super good. Def will visit again in the future during the next visit in this area.

Man Oh Man did I want to give this place five stars but I just couldn’t. I love cocktail bars and speak easys. I’ve worked in Cocktail bars in NYC for years. Maybe my expectations are just high. Made a reservation for this place for myself on a Saturday early evening at 6pm. Killed about an hour in the brewery up front which was just OK. The music in Kilowatt was pounding loud. Went back to the Space Pad which has a cool lit up entry way. The server who was there and greeted me was probably the best part of my whole time at the bar, a blonde woman who I think has tattoos, I never got her name. She was friendly and attentive and brought me to my spot at the bar. The space is very small and intimate, probably seats somewhere around 20 people. But they’re all very close together. The bar is super small, the back bar was messy, unorganized. The space itself is a interior design MARVEL. Little spaceships on pulleys, a moon rock wall, amazing lighting, 50s style booths. It’s awesome. Go in there just to take a few photos. Not only did the server seat me, but she was the one who came behind the bar to check on me AND take my order. Bartenders barely said a word to me. There where two of them mind you running a bar that seats maybe 5-6 people. Like literally four feet away from me. Usually on cocktail lists you place your most popular cocktails on the top. So I ordered the top one, The Ambassador Scones. A crazy Space out infusion Cocktail with a pop rocks rim. Looks cool in the glass. Did not taste cool at all. Couldn’t finish the drink which is rare for me. Honestly was planning on staying and trying a few but just felt really out of place in this tiny space where no one seemed to care about me. Bars no matter how cool they LOOK are about drink quality and bartender personality. It was lacking in both. I gave this place 4 stars because of the idea and design quality, and the waitress who was very kind and attentive.

Space Pad is an exceptional venue that effortlessly blends a futuristic atmosphere with a cozy, welcoming vibe. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by sleek, modern decor and ambient lighting that sets the mood for an unforgettable evening. The highlight of any visit, however, is undoubtedly their craft cocktail menu. Each drink is a masterpiece, thoughtfully crafted by skilled mixologists who have a knack for balancing flavors. I had the pleasure of trying the “Galactic Mule,” a creative twist on the classic Moscow Mule, featuring house-infused ginger vodka and a hint of fresh lime, served in a shimmering copper mug. It was refreshingly zesty with just the right amount of spice. Another standout was the “Cosmic Berry Bliss,” a vibrant mix of seasonal berries, vodka, and a splash of sparkling soda, perfect for those who enjoy a fruity concoction. The attentive staff truly elevate the experience, providing insightful recommendations and ensuring your glass is never empty. Whether you're there for a casual night out or a special celebration, Space Pad's unique cocktails and inviting atmosphere make it a must-visit destination for cocktail lovers. Don’t miss this stellar spot—your taste buds will thank you!

I love this place! Feels like you just walked off Space Mountain and into the ideal space age cocktail lounge 🛸 Complete with unexpected entertainment and cool lighting effects. Order the Blast Off for an extra good time 😉 I didn't want to leave and I will definitely be back! If you like this, definitely try Kilowatt's other speakeasy: Forbidden Cove in San Diego. That's how we heard about this place. Keep those speakeasy's coming, Kilowatt!!! 😍

Yelp
A go-to speakeasy! My friend and I came here on a whim on a weekday night and we were able to walk in and order right away. On Thursday-Sunday nights I would definitely suggest making reservations ahead of time. I loved walking through the doors and immediately being immersed in the space pad. Vibes are great too since they have great playlists, food, drinks, and light shows. Honestly they killed it with the decor and light shows to specific songs. Really great for 2-4 people in a party. The bartender was also our server and honestly he was really on it and welcoming too. It felt that as soon as we ordered our drinks and apps, they were already coming to our table. We started out with the poke tapas and the poke was fresh and just delightfully marinated. The rice was fluffy and the tortilla chips paired perfectly with all of the above. My friend ordered the Beam Me Up and I ordered the That's No Moon. Her drink was really good and decently sweet with some fun gelatin goodies on top. I loved my drink as it was a perfect balance of lightly sweet but refreshing. The lime whiskey and lychee were such great compliments to each other in this drink. We also were given some Jell-O shots, since we were celebrating my friend's belated birthday, which was such a nice treat! Would go back for the energy of the bar and drinks alone. Looking forward to trying so many of their drinks!

Yelp
We came here after Korean barbecue since we went to catch up a little bit with some old friends from Boston and this place was awesome! Just know that you have to walk all the way to the back right where all the shiny walls are past the little brewery with the games everywhere Inside is kind of small so you definitely wanna come early. I love the whole space theme and fun little Nams and bubbly drinks they had. I ended up getting some kind of mystery hot honey shot and it was cool! I forgot the other 3 drinks we had but they were all delicious. I always recommend sitting at the bar if you can so that you can ask the bartenders questions and observe how they make drinks. There are some big tables for our parties of 4 to 6 but a lot of small tables of two as well. Can't wait to come back if I'm in Oceanside!

Yelp
Love this spot!!!!! it's a speak easy in the back and pretty small space so I would highly recommend making reservations. vibes are immaculate here. Walking into space pad is an immediate escape from your current reality. It feels like a bar on mars in the 60s, a retro blast from the past with "jetsons" references. The service: was great, we were welcomed right away and sat at the bar. Bartenders were genuinely engaging and super sweet!!!! The Drinks: so cool!!!! Everything in this bar is designed with intention and on theme. I can say the same for the drinks. They were a little on the pricier side but made pretty well.

Yelp
This is a really fun spot to go if you're just wanting to grab a quick drink and play games with your friends I didn't stay here long and I only popped in because it started raining at the other restaurant I was at so my party moved to this spot and we played games and they have a lot of fun activities The service is good, but I did not try any of the food if they had any, I'll be coming back
google avatar

Yelp
Great place in Oceanside to get a drink. The ambiance is techie, with lots of lights and music. The service was great and it offers a variety of interesting cocktails. It's a small place, so making reservations is suggested

Megan W.

Yelp
This place has so much potential!! They should definitely expand the atmosphere into the front bar. I think it'll be more inviting to the public bc the front of the building is very run down. Despite it being a speakeasy, this was a small space that needs improvement with more upbeat music & the drinks were fancy looking but not good.
google avatar

Janice K.

Yelp
Reserved bar seating and got a small high top with metal chairs. Hostesses switched out my chair due to my back and tailbone bone injury. They have 2 regular tables 3 small high top tables and 8 seats at the actual bar. Paper straws bring your own if you don't want it in your drink. Drinks are good. The decor is great
google avatar

Valeri S.

Yelp
What a fun spot. Drinks a little pricey but so worth it. The bartenders were great and the place is a must see.
google avatar

Anne-Marie N.

Yelp
Amazing hidden gem. So much fun. The theme carries to every detail. The galactic atmosphere with music tracks that only enhance the theme and intermittent shows. The drinks are totally out of this world. The nachos hit the spot and made the entire experience incredibly enjoyable. Everyone in there was fun and only added to the energy. If you love speakeasies, you have to check this one out. The staff is awesome. Very friendly.
google avatar

Joseph G.

Yelp
Unreal .. cocktails are literally out of this world. You can't beat the ambience and decor. Bartenders are very talented and friendly. This place is a must. Marcos makes the best drinks Friday and Saturdays
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
I wish I could leave a better review because it seems like a fun spot. The decor is awesome and while it's not a huge place there's several booths and some tall tables to sit. I came here with a group of ladies on a not busy Sunday and the bartender was rude to us straight off the bat. We never even ordered anything and decided to leave because of her attitude. I'd for sure come back but I definitely want to avoid that female bartender, customer service skills are seriously lacking and most of us are in the industry.
google avatar

Tajuana C.

Yelp
This place reminds me of Trader Sam's at Disney! They should definitely get a bigger spot but then again it's kinda cozy being small. On the weekends they recommend that you make reservations. We had a party of four and decided to go and got lucky. We got one of the booths but watched like four parties get turned away while we were there but also many parties allowed in. It was raining and that's why we got lucky but on a regular Saturday I would just walk into the place thinking you're going to get a seat. Loved the atmosphere in there! Whomever designed the spot did an amazing job! I loved that disco ball wall! Omgahhh I need one of those in my art room! Now I'm giving it a five because of the experience but the dranks are not it. Only two people out of four kind of liked their dranks. They are very experimental let's just say that. Sucks I was so litty that I don't remember the names they have beer and one seltzer to chose from in the front. Super chill spot and you're paying for the experience too, so the dranks are more expensive.
google avatar

Yelp
Such an awesome atmosphere with delicious and fun drinks! It's "small" (as speakeasies should be) so make sure to get a reservation! We also split the spam nachos which were SO good

Yelp
Fun vibes, good drinks, and great bartender Mario! Thanks for the fun birthday celebration!!

Yelp
Super cool place where the drinks look out of the world! Great presentation and friendly service!

Yelp
This place had a cool vibe, but it's obviously under construction/remodel and was a bit of a disaster. The bass was so loud that my body was vibrating the entire time. The bartender was working solo and was wearing a plain black tshirt and looked disheveled, it took us over an hour to get a second round. The men's bathroom was technically open, but didn't have a working sink and had a bunch of construction items like concrete bags, fold up tables, and power tools inside. The decorations are cool but it was a little too bright inside for a bar. Didn't dare try the food due to how the night was going.
google avatar

Sarah D.

Yelp
Pretty cool "speakeasy" hidden room in the back. Walked in on a Sunday and got seated right away, however it is a very small place so definitely recommend a reservation on Fridays and Saturdays. Spendy drinks but it's all about the experience.
google avatar

Randall B.

Yelp
There have been some harsh reviews about the place but tonight it was 5 star all the way around. Staff was super chill and fun. Atmos blows you away and the drinks we had were very good. It's kitsch all the way round and it's magnificent in that kitsch. It's fun. It's a blast and the interstitials are super dramatic.

Yelp
Had such a lame experience at Space Pad. I made reservations for my friend and I at 7:30pm. We arrived promptly on time. Upon entering, the employee asked two guys to get up from a table for us - seems like they were hoping we were a no show so they could take our table. So we awkwardly stood there as they slowly packed up and moved two feet away. The entire room is super cramped especially because they had a ton of people standing in the middle of the room. We waited about 10 minutes for someone to remember us and take our order. We ordered the Violet Vega, Venus Phoenix, and chips & salsa. The chips and salsa never came. The drinks tasted like gasoline or lighter fuel. They had a time limit of 90 minutes but we were over it in 30. Also took forever to close out.
google avatar

Roxanne C.

Yelp
6 of us went for drinks. Everything we ordered was amazing. Fun outer space theme with music and visuals. The space room is 2 tables of 6 plus bar seating Bathrooms were clean. Recommend reservations for groups over 4
google avatar

Ajay N.

Yelp
Service was amazing, drinks on par. Got free shots from the bartender. The workers were very attentive and asked us if we were doing good or would like more drinks or anything. The music, decorations, even the drinks flowed together with the theme... Space. Would definitely visit again.
google avatar

Sandra P.

Yelp
The space pad went out of this world with the theme. It's so beautiful inside. The walls are decorated like craters. Inside you have super cool light effects with music to match the vibes. The glass has like 3d decorations. The cocktails are Fantastic. Each cocktail has a space theme to it. I will get the old fashioned next time I return so I can get the Saturn shaped smoker. I didn't want to leave this place. I liked it here more than mothership. The service was great. Super easy to make reservations on their website.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute little place. The bartenders were very nice and acknowledged us through the night. They played great music. Definitely coming back.
google avatar

Berenice A.

Yelp
We had such a great time. Our server was amazing and had great recommendations and substitutions for our drinks. Food was delicious and good. The ambiance was fun and different. Will go back to try more of their amazing drinks.

Dahlia A.

Yelp
Came for my birthday about 10 min before 11 to grab a drink before heading back to the hotel and they said they couldn't serve past 11 so try go before hand. Very small space by the way.
google avatar

Harinder K.

Yelp
This is a small galactic space at the back of the Kilowatt brewpub. We opted to sit at the bar. The bar staff (Mario, Tati, and Yasmin) is very friendly and happy to explain the cocktails, menu, really just about anything. A reservation gets you 75 minutes. It's a speakeasy so the cocktails outnumber the food choices. My bourbon old fashioned and whiskey sour were spot on. We ordered chips and salsa to munch on - the salsa had the right amount of kick. Would be five stars (and perhaps 4 is generous?) but for the gnats (or fruit flies?) buzzing around the bar area - which increased as the evening progressed. We left after an hour because they were getting out of hand.

Kristen C.

Yelp
Such an insanely unique speakeasy! Great vibes and such a strong theme...good can be ordered in the brewery before or after. Totally worth the visit!
google avatar

Caroline M.

Yelp
I loved the fun kitschy idea of this. We got in early so had no trouble getting seats. The server was friendly and helpful. I loved when we took off into space. I had the dessert and it was tasty and so pretty plated. Prices for drinks were high but what the heck. We are on vacation!
google avatar

Jacquelyn S.

Yelp
Fun, space vibe speak easy. It's smaller inside than I expected, so highly recommend having a reservation if your party is larger than 2. There are 2 booths, a bar with maybe 6 chairs and a sprinkle of belly table and chairs That being said, it was a super fun, chill place. We had a group and reservation. We only went for drinks and tried so many fun ones. Great place to take pictures and just enjoy the atmosphere with friends.

Hannah M.

Yelp
SO AMAZING! The ambiance, the customer service, EVERYTHING was perfect. Mario took great care of us, and made some great drinks! Definitely come in if you're visiting or live in Oceanside.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing experience at the Space Pad! Super easy system to make a reservation online. After finding our way to the hidden entrance, we were greeted by a friendly host who brought our group of three to one of the two booth seating areas. We ordered drinks and I got the Luau tacos (spam tacos) which took a little longer than expected but were worth the wait. Came with a side of chips and mango salsa and we ordered another side of chips and salsa. We also ended up ordering the hot dogs as well. The drinks were all very tasty and not too sweet with great presentation. The ambiance is fantastic and quirky with all sorts of details to look at. You really just have to experience it for yourself. Like many tiki bars, there is a semi obnoxious music/light "show" that comes on every 30 min or so where a dubstep version of the Imperial March plays very loudly and the screens above the bar have a little coordinating display. Parking in downtown Oceanside can be a little tricky and it's street (some metered) or paid lot parking only so arrive early!
google avatar

Cerena P.

Yelp
SO COOL! Definitely highly recommend making a reservation, this place was tiny! Only 2 booths, and 3 high top tables. Hidden within kilowatts glass doors you'll find this super cool speakeasy! The ambiance and decor was amazing, there was so much to look at. They even have the lights go out and have a little show ever so often. The drinks were all amazing, a bit pricy but so worth it. They all had such a cute presentation and were all delicious! They also serve food, which also looked fantastic. I love the uniqueness of this place, it's definitely a spot you must come and check out!
google avatar

Yelp
Planet Rillispore knows how to do it! I made a reservation for NYE early evening. It was cold and rainy outside, but a walk through Space Pad's mirrored doors took us on a journey to a whole new world. The vibe is casual and playful, and I love that the space is small. Their reservation system keeps it from feeling crowded; it's a clever setup. Come here with a friend or two only. The menu gives "tiki," with an otherworldly flare. We tried many of the cocktails, and they're all delicious and fun to drink. These bartenders are absolute pros. Service was low-key and friendly. We felt welcomed while also being left alone to do our thing. *BONUS* is the surprisingly fantastic poke. A secret funky bar with amazing drinks AND food?? What a find.
google avatar

Mackenzi L.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was adorable, and we had a wonderful time. Everyone enjoyed their cocktails. I completely understand why they have the 90 minute maximum so that they can get everyone a chance to experience this. (I posted way more pics of drinks, no idea why it's just attaching one weird blur pic)
google avatar

Melia A.

Yelp
I ordered a hot dog from here and it was bomb!! Did not think it would've gone well with the drinks but it did . My drinks were amazing too and they put a lot of alcohol in my drink lol Love how the place is decorated also and the workers are so sweet . Will be coming here again!!
google avatar

Alexa B.

Yelp
the cocktails had such a cool presentation and very tasty. staff and bartenders were friendly! they put on a mini light show too. the downside: it's tiny (so if you don't get there at a good time, there probably won't be a spot for you) and pretty pricey. other than that, i'd love to go back and try more drinks!
google avatar

Cindel R.

Yelp
One of the cutest bars in the area! Loved the drinks and how the room changes lights and sounds every so often. Drinks were very reasonable and staff were amazing and kind. Highly recommend this spot if your passing though.
google avatar

Ariel

Yelp
This place has super cool thematic decor and lighting throughout the entire bar. We ordered a few drinks that cleverly tied into the bars space theme. I had the violet Vega which included sparkle liquor. I'd recommend stopping by for a drink or two.
google avatar

Vinicius F.

Yelp
Very interesting decoration, very peculiar. It's a mix of a diner with Jetsons in an alien environment. It has everything to be good, but it's not quite there. The lighting is not well done, there are some interesting neons and light effects, but it is too bright. Music is good, the sound quality is horrendous, but I guess it's the equalization badly done. Bass is overpowering everything. Drinks were okay. Pricey considering the context. The service was definitely not good. The bartender just wouldn't come to us, even not being too busy. He was also poorly dressed and was not welcoming. The place is under construction, apparently, so I'll give it a try when it's done. Maybe. It has potential.
google avatar

Hannah R.

Yelp
Cute little spot located in kilowatt brewing Company. Awesome hourly music and light show. Drinks were amazing. A little pricey, but only because you're in a speakeasy. So I call it a one and done. Maybe two. The waitress/bartender was amazing too.
google avatar

DJ W.

Yelp
The cocktails were awesome. It's a pretty small environment, good for 2-4 people. The staff is super friendly and fast. I loved the spaceship theme.
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
I love a good, fun theme bar. Its just my thing. Usually I'm all over tiki, but I liked the idea of mixing tiki ideas with outer space. I was all in for The Space Pad! I actually thought it would be bigger and darker and just different! But it was teeny and mostly bright and I loved it! Only two booths, three two-tops and a bar. They had fun decor, great interesting lights and shiny things. Ever few minutes or so, a little space show would roll across a screen in front of us and those were pretty fun. Bartenders were nice and most of the drinks I had were good. I started with the Saturn, then a Blast Off and ended with the Ambassador Scones. I did not care for the Blast Off, but the Saturn was outstanding and the Ambassador Scones was yummy, but I could have used a little more pop rocks! ha! At $18 a pop, I did feel like they were a bit overpriced for their size, but hey, I was there for the ambiance and how often do you get to drink Rillisporian Cocktails. Fun fact: we walked right past the place on our way to it.... I hadn't really done any research so didn't know where it was. Have fun finding your way - there are hints around. Overall, it's fun, but probably not somewhere I would go back to, I'm happy with what I had. I recommend at least a visit, though if you like fun hidden cocktail bars! Especially if you're right there in the pier area of Oceanside. lol

Yelp
Really cute bar with amazing colors, decor and drinks. Fun to start your evening here.
google avatar

Ginger L.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check this place out for a while and I finally got to last night! Super small space but also has great decor, and they knew how to maximize the space. Server was super friendly and attentive. I ordered the poke tapas and they were delicious! My friend ordered the space pad tacos and she enjoyed her food as well! Our drinks were super tasty and fun (I ordered the jungle bird and my friend ordered blast off). My friends drink had a song that played in the bar when ordered so that was fun! I will definitely come back and highly recommend! Oh and our waitress gave all the girls these really cute necklaces!
google avatar

Kiana P.

Yelp
So the ambiance here is amazing, such a cool vibe, spacey and techno. The issue is that they could not serve half their menu because they were out of ahi tuna. My guest I came with only eats fish or chicken. The other half of the menu was spam, one beef hot dog, a squid salad and a few desserts. I was excited to come here for a while and the fact that one ingredient was out at 7pm that renders half their menu unavailable was so disappointing. I was half hoping that they might have mocktails, so it can cater to people who either the DD or might just want to take a break but be included. I had to leave after taking with my friend, because I will not stay somewhere where we both could not enjoy. I think this would be great just for drinks at 10pm. Don't come hungry, and only come if you want a drink. Not the vibe if you want to bring friends from out of town. This is more for a novelty, not worth it.
google avatar

April H.

Yelp
Why does this place have to pop up once I moved away??? If I still lived in Oceanside this would be one of my regular spots. The room is tiny but they have it done so well. Service was good but the atmosphere is the absolute best part. Every little detail is perfect. The decor and music and entire vibe is just right. The drinks were good and they offered fun non-alcoholic drinks which is always nice. Make a reservation if you want to guarantee a seat!

Heather J.

Yelp
Cool spot with a cool theme. Drinks are gimmicky, but not bad. We had a reservation, but still had to wait. Very small space and guests are shoulder to shoulder. Not very many tables lots of standing. The staff was friendly. Not sure I'd go back for a second time but a very cool and interesting experience.

Yelp
I have been meaning to write this review for a while - finally getting around to it. I was so surprised to see there was no Yelp page for the space pad. I promptly created one and then added some photos. Just now getting around to a review. The process of booking a table was really easy and honestly we hardly needed to. We went in on a Friday night within their first month of opening and it was pretty easy to find space. We would not have needed a reservation but it was good to have one I guess. Going forward, I'm sure it will pick up in busyness but while we were there, every table and every bar seat did get filled. Let me say that the drinks we had were excellent. We ordered three drinks total. We got the blast off, a classic painkiller, and tropical bird drink. All three were excellent and you could tell that they were very quality ingredients. The prices are steep. I do believe that $18 for a cocktail is highway robbery in this day and age. That's the price I want to pay at a theme park but not at a small speakeasy in quiet Oceanside. You know it's odd when Trader Sam's drinks at Disneyland are cheaper...I do wish the prices were a little more reasonable but I respect what they're trying to do. That being said, we loved the decor and the theme. It was a bit disjointed being both Jetsons themed and alien planet themed. My husband is a designer and we love speakeasies but it was a little odd to walk into like a planet situation with aliens and see Jetsons videos. It's like they are trying to be either mid-mod or an alien planet, but couldn't decide so they just did both. The service was also excellent - they have a fun light show that plays every so often when you order certain drinks. We sat near the wall with the AC thing and water dropped on us multiple times which was very strange. The flooring in that area is warped and kind of dangerous. And then there's also an exit door there that like opens but shouldn't open so that's kind of strange. I know they're trying to get their kinks worked out and I think that they will do really well in the long run, but I would highly advise a quick check on pricing because $18 for your drinks is crazy high and kind of a deterrent. Frankie's down the road makes an amazing cocktail for $14. Just something to think about with the clientele. All in all, wonderful experience but certainly felt like a soft open. Also please print themed menus! It's like they put all this work in and then printed menus on a piece of dirty printer paper. It could be so amazing to have passport themed menus or something really unique. Such potential! Looking forward to our next visit.
