Outstanding experience at thw Spice Suite. Very impressed with this location and the variety that's offered. Erica was friendly and extremely knowledgeable and helpful with assisting me with spice selections. It was hard to leave anything on the shelf. I made a large purchase even though I don't cook that often. It has already inspired me to cook more so that I can try out the new spices that I bought.

I was impressed by the branding, music, ambiance and products on sale. Excited to see a black owned business on the rise. The shopping experience was unique and intimate with music in the background to keep your vibe up. Staff were super friendly and all looked upbeat. I recommend you visit whether you are in town as a tourist or you live here.

The Spice Suite is an unique incubator that supports black women owned businesses unapologetically. We bought a couple of spices and look forward to visiting again especially during their Farmers Market events. We would recommend if you are visiting Washington, DC.

The Spice Suite at Black & Forth is a premier space featuring an amazing host of spices, kitchenware, and cooking items. The shop is beautifully designed and has an array of unique offerings that will uplift any dish. From spices, to syrups, and flavored sugar, not to mention the kitchen tools are all wonderful. It is also Black women owned by a DC native which makes it even more special. I highly recommend a visit!

Just pulled up to THE Spice Suite and I must say I was beyond blown away. First, these all blk bldgs… 🔥🔥🔥 The decor, the style, the vibe, the music, the selections, the creativity, the roots to DC.. loved it ALL. Sooooo many different spice blends and kitchen equipment to choose from. I absolutely LOVE the creative spice blend names. “DC or Nothing”, “Northeast”, “Cherry Blossom”, “Pass Me The Green”… so creative.. Def took a while to decide since I couldnt buy the entire store lol. The store associate was super friendly and was verrrry helpful and I was able to try a few of the e blends which helped me narrow down my choices. For today I went with the ‘Honey Raspberry Rub’, ‘Nawlins Vibe’ and the ‘Northeast’ blends. I also grabbed a few of the tea pops and some Ghanian Salt. Super excited to try these out. If you havent been.. here is your sign to go check out The Spice Suite.

I've been to the Spice Suite many times and I love every single product I've purchased from there. Whats best about the spices is you can put them on anything (veggies, meat, create your own salad dressings). If you like to cook, you're in paradise. If you dont, it makes cooking easy because of the amazing herbs and spices. I love shopping local. And if you're lucky to get a bottle of her famous hot sauce, you'll know why they sell out!!!!

This place exceeded my thoughts of what I would expect. The visionary to this masterpiece blew my mind! I'm glad I came! I can't wait to try my spices!

Yelp
Excellent customer service. The owner of the shop took her time to explain all the different items that she had and more. I love the fact that she allowed other vendors to come in there and sell their wears. The location is excellent in DC. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
The Spice Suite is a great community venue for farm fresh vegetables, teas, spices, and afrocentric attire. Loved the yellow watermelon from the local provider... His Motto, if it has no seeds we don't eat it." The service was self-serve, inside the facility with various local vendors outside. The ambiance was enhanced with a music maestro pumping out reggae and funky beats. Spices, sauces, teas, abounded along with african garb...I came to support the businesses and was quite disappointed that prices were not on display. In order to get the price you had to venture to the cashier counter to ask? Aside from the prices not being displayed, I found the prices to be a bit high. Love the concept of helping new businesses get exposure. Definitely recommend....

Yelp
I had been hearing about the spice suite for over a year from my family and friends so I decided to finally check it out. I got a parking spot right in the front of the store and I hear music and see other vendors out front. Today was a good day to visit it was like I received 5 for 1! There were an assortment of vendors (fresh juice, water icee, fresh vegetables, pilates, natural soaps). I found out today was the day that farmers market vendors come to the spice suite. I purchased a fresh juice name Gold from Chytea's Sweet Wata which was really good it was very refreshing especially on a hot day. After I purchase my juice and look around and talk to the other vendors then I make it into the spice suite. My first impression was this is pretty cool how she turned containers into a store. She has a broad selection of different spices, sauces, cookie mix, honey, balsamic vinegars, pots, knife sets etc. She has almost everything you need to cook and season your food. I picked up a little black basket from the corner and started shopping. But then it dawned on me I didn't see a price on any of the seasoning, sauces, honey or vinegar I picked up. I figured it would be a good idea to ask for the prices before I got to carried away. I ended up purchasing a couple seasonings and a sauce. The lady at the registerer was nice she spoke to me when I first came in and she asked did I find everything as I was checking out. If I had to give feedback it would to put prices on your merchandise. I like to know how much I am paying before I get to the register. I shouldn't have to ask for the price or wait until it is time to checkout to know how much I am paying. Overall it was a good experience and I am glad I finally made it to the Spice Suite. If your are ever in North East Washington DC area and love to dabble with different spices, seasoning, sauces etc. Check this place out!

Yelp
You don't like sugar and spice and everything spice, do you?! Have you heard of Spice Suite?! It's a new business located in Washington, DC. It is an incubator for empowering Black Female Entrepreneurs, there's spice, clothing, cook wear, head wraps and baked goods. The Spice Suite is the culminating vision of owner Angel Gregorio's love of good food and people. Angel's natural talent in the kitchen landed her a spot in the Top 40 of MasterChef's Season 8. The Spice Suite has become a DC staple for small business incubation. The Spice Suite store is open and ready for business with expansion underway. It is rapidly becoming a Black Business District. It's really hard to open a business and hopefully with Angel Gregorio's guidance, working with Spice Suite will be a much better transition for those businesses owners. They had a lovely DJ playing wonderful music to give the shopping experience a fun and engaging atmosphere and vibe. The spices, hot sauces and other food products were colorful, fun and playful. I can't wait to try out the items I purchased. Travel often, eat and live deliciously.

Yelp
Super glad to make it over. Did a B line to the location. As a Texas I love flavors. And this place doesn't disappoint. Very interesting establishment. Love the community the ladies share at the location (Black and Forth). Great way to support one another. I got a couple of seasoning, honey and some espresso vanilla. Very happy with my items. Wish I cldv gotten more but I hate checking bags on airlines.

Yelp
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! This small black owned business is everything and more. I've traveled an hour there twice thus far and it's totally worth it. Inexpensive metered street parking, nice walkable neighborhood and plenty of nearby businesses. Upon entering there's always warm decor and energy. There are always pleasant pop-up hosts as well as a pleasant store representative to greet customers and offer assistance. This place has all things flavorful. Balsamic Vinegars, Soy Sauces, Natural Honey's, Seasoning Salts and Spices as well as kitchen utensils. I've had great experiences w all things purchased and I look forward to returning back. Great job Spice Suite, definitely a gem !!

Yelp
If you love spices and cooking essentials, you must stop by The Spice Suite. It's more than a spice shop. The owner ties food and fashion and empowers other Black women-owned businesses. On the same block are a few renovated shipping containers with other Black women-owned businesses. Angel, the founder of The Spice Suite, is an inspiring hero in Washington, D.C.

Yelp
The level of customer service professionalism is questionable. Everyone needs training. It's not my first time purchasing from them. The product is good.

Tracy S.

Yelp
I visited with my friend from NYC and we gave them all our coins! Beautiful vibe and I'm so proud of this establishment! Listen... the spice named, "West Indian Gyal" is my fave!! I put that ish in errythang! You have to visit this place- especially when you hear Angel's story. She's committed to excellence and has definitely put a lot of research in- through travel. I pray she assures that whomever she selects to represent her at this store will share the same zest to provide an awesome customer experience. Wishing you abundant blessings!

Brittney S.

Yelp
I visited the new Spice Suite location at Black and Forth and was totally impressed. Everything is Black - the building, fixtures... - and just so sleek! There's a huge stock of unique spice blends! I got "Let's Go to Cabo" and "West Indian Gyal". Cannot wait to cook with these. The space will also host a rotation of pop-up shops in the future, so I can't wait to see what else is in store.

Rhonda C.

Yelp
Love everything about this place! Who knew I needed a full spice shop in my life. Things I love: - the space is really cute and very welcoming. - the spices are sooo fantastic. As someone who's not the best chef, I rely on the "it's not Goya seasoning", the lemon pepper hot sauce, the lemon ketchup and there's a barbecue type seasoning that I'm forgetting the name of. - the kitchen utensils are also very cute and very durable. They definitely upgrade my kitchen. - the staff is always really awesome as well. Always helpful. - there's normally a pop up shop in the store selling other products so you get a surprise every time you're there. - there's ample parking so that's never been an issue. This location is a bit far from me, so I don't stop in that often but when I do, I normally stock up on the staples.

Yelp
A black owned company called spice suite? My curiosity just got the best of me and I decided to take a drive to DC. Was it worth it oh yea. This place is definitely a vibe!! A DJ out front, welcoming employees, covid compliant. I'm in there! I wanted to buy everything! I left with a variety of seasonings and spices. Also some waffle mix. Hopefully I can actually whip up some nice dishes. I will definitely be back since I heard she has a new Latin inspired seasoning. This place is a must for all the at home chefs out there. Highly recommended

Dee D.

Yelp
I've had this place bookmarked for a really long time. I finally made my way here and was very impressed. Everything was so sleek and fashionable. I can't lie, I wanted to buy everything. But they way my bank account is set up...lol. I picked up a few spices, some syrups and a honey. I'm excited to try new combinations of things in the kitchen. The line was pretty long. I went on a Friday afternoon, luckily it wasn't too cold. Once I was in, the spice girls were very helpful. I'll definitely be back for more. This peach siracha honey is life.

Nastradomas P.

Yelp
The lady that owns the place is such a sweetheart and a kind person. Definitely someone I wouldn't mind spending my money with! The aesthetic is so unique for a spice business. Oh yea, and the spices are wonderful!! They are very innovative and very effective; way better seasonings than the ones you'll buy at the stores. Pls, give her place a look, it's worth it!

Sha T.

Yelp
Love love love! From its cool decor to awesome wares, The Spice Suite gets 10's across the board. They have something for everyones palate and cooking level. From spices to cookware, they have you covered. The very cool thing about The Spice suite is that they serve as a hub for other artisans. Check them out for dope items!! Ps. Wondering about their Covid safety? They do limit the number of patrons at a time, have sanitizers, and plexiglass in place for their patrons and employees safety.

LaCora H.

Yelp
If you're looking for herbs, spices, teas, and oils.... you've found them! Owned by an energized black woman and backed by her gorgeous black crew, Angel has combined food and fashion together in this suite. Come get your favorite pantry picks and drop some new things in your basket, too.

Yelp
I really dig this place and their offerings! This Spice Suite is a beginning cook and culinary creative's dream. I first stumbled on to The Spice Suite by way of Instagram. Randomly, while snooping around IG for cooking vids.....a phat juicy delicious looking pan-seared Salmon Steak & Cheese Sandwich oozing with cheese, peppers and seasonings everywhere popped up on my feed and caught my eye! I mean I was literally salivating from my phone and almost licked the screen....while looking at the proprietor (Angel Gregorio) of The Spice Suite whip up this magical dish in her home using their spices! From that day, I was hooked and a follower of her posts and dranked the "Kool-Aid!" Flash forward, I had a chance to visit this shop on 9/11 for their "Grand-Reopening Day" since closing in March due to COVID and the event did not disappoint. Unassuming from the outside, you walk in and become inspired by the various handcrafted curated spices, infused olive oils, teas, balsamics, cookware, and select grocery goods. The vibe in a nutshell....is chill, funky and eclectic....with a small window seating space, spice-food wall art everywhere, and even a working pay telephone where somehow it all comes to together to make this shop so unique. From the moment you step into the shop you are given a passport to visit multiple countries and explore the culinary spices of many cultures all from the storefront of this shop in DC. The walls of the entire perimeters of the shop brightly display familiar staples of spices and unique handcrafted spice blends that change frequently. You find yourself both inspired and intrigued to try spices with creative vices and names such as...Tabil, Morroc-ish, Mojo, Adobo Lime, Garlicky, Jamaican Jerk, Tuscan Herb...to familiar spice blends such as Honey Chipotle and Lemon Pepper! Also, when available be sure to try the LEMON PEPPER HOT SAUCE!! OMG!....It is one of the best hot sauces around and good on anything...fried chicken, fish, salads, potato chips....yes, I said it! lol....potato chips, even popcorn to ice cream! Love the stuff. *WARNING: It always sells out, but get your hands on some & Thank me later. All of these ingenious spice creations are the brainchild of the owner Angel Gregorio. She is the Picasso of all the colorful spice blends, teas, honey and sugars that are sold on the shelfs within the store and flow like art on her instagram post/cooking demos. They not only help introduce you to The Spice Suite selections, but offer up creative meal ideas for the kitchen. It certainly helped me get out of pandemic "quarantine-cooking" boredom. Check out these salivating posts on IG: @thespicesuite. Another admirable mention, is that I find remarkable that she utilizes the storefront to not only sell her select goods but allow the store to serve as an incubator for many other inspiring, minority-black women owned businesses. She hosts monthly popups and mentors women entrepreneurs where they showcase their products for sale within the store. Definitely a great way to uplift and share the wealth. In all, lots of great things to say about this local black-owned small business. Great selection of products and spices, for such a small space. Decent customer service too. Although a bit pricey, the quality and value definitely makes up for it. So, in need of some 'spice' in your life or a change from the same old Salt & Pepper!??....Definitely give The Spice Suite a try!

Yelp
I am so excited about this place. I had some customer experience disappointments. I spent almost $200 on spices and the woman who checked me out was laughing on the phone with someone. I didn't know if she was talking to me and she was in the middle ringing me up. I hope I wasn't overcharged but I won't know until I look at my receipt that was emailed to me. And she didn't know if there would be an itemized receipt. I get it' that there are no refunds but at least I could have a detailed receipt. The place is cute but the pricing is not clearly labeled and you have to go through a bit to get to the prices. Now I bought things and paid the price on the strength of supporting a black owned business. I also bought as gifts for my foodie friends. The person who checked me out said we could have a private shopping event which would be cool to do. Maybe a chef or someone could provide recipe ideas if they don't cook in the space. So much opportunity to do some really great things to bring more people in. I am hopeful that this review will bring attention to

Yelp
Visited Spice Suite this weekend and I must say I love that it's black woman owned and the overall concept of what blk and forth will be once completed. Hence my 3 stars. On the other hand, the spices are all expensive at $15 a pop, teas and other items are more. When you walk in, there is no pricing on most things, and I saw so many stacking up their carts and then getting to the register and putting things back. The store was quite busy, so there was no one to really ask questions or provide suggestions on suggested food pairings. A few suggestions would be to have visible pricing, list some suggested recipes/uses, keep an open sample to smell. I spent about $75 for 2 spices, a hot sauce that I tried and isn't my favorite and some tea. Not sure I'll do that again, but it was a nice visit.

Annie B.

Yelp
Very cool and unique space, more than spices. This location is interesting I will definitely return to get the spices that I missed out on.

Susan S.

Yelp
Hey y'all and this review comes late, but better late than never I say! Plus I've been busy! The Spice Suite, or as I like to refer to it as "The Spice (and everything nice) Suite." The Spice Suite is raining spices, but there's so much more and I like surprises. Of course one would be shopping for spices as the name suggest. As I browsed the shelves, I explored the necessities for the kitchen accessories. Let me tell y'all about this spray cleaner "SURFACE" is absolutely fabulous, and the scent is luscious and lingers in the air while giving your home a sweet and fragrant aroma. They don't promote this product enough. My only pet peeve is that the writing on the bottle should be yellow or red, so you can see and read the contents on the bottle - that may be just my eyes . A little goes a long way, and I use it in kitchen, bathrooms, and on the doorknobs, or any area that needs cleaning and refreshing. Check out the Spice Suite; it does have everything nice.

Rizma W.

Yelp
I heard about this place from someone I met at a black alumni event hosted by my alma mater. I've spent hundreds of dollars at other spice stores in the area so I decided to check this one out... especially since it is so close to me. The spice blends are creative and smell as if they are carefully curated. There are testers for patrons to smells and taste the spice blends, but unfortunately, there are no testers to smell the teas (which is what I really came for. I had just stocked up on spices from another shop the previous week). They also sell bags of dry mix (for pancakes and various baked goods), cocoa mix, sweetener spoons, and even cut-up couture t-shirts...but only for the most fashionable of kitchenistas! ;) The shop also sells specially crafted oils and vinegars in a variety of creative flavors. There's a whole station in the front of the store that you absolutely must check out. In addition to all the of the deliciousness are also smaller vendors who do "pop ups" and sell everything from bundles of sage (smudge sticks) to hair and body care products. I bought a really nice body butter from one of the vendors. Had to knock of a star because was one of the employees was having a loud personal conversation on her phone while the sales floors (And judging by the sound of it, it didn't sound like it was going in her favor). Was kinds hard to shop in peace while this woman was shouting into her phone. When my current supply of spices dwindle, I'll probably pop back in here and pick up some supplies.

Yelp
The Spice Suite is the perfect destination for a daycation in DC! I've been following Angel on Instagram for a while and after salivating over her countless fashionable food videos, I decided to take a trip to her spice shop. The Spice Suite is a whole mood! Sleek and fashionable are the two words that I would use to describe the aesthetic and the decor! When I entered, I was greeted by one of the Spice Girls who welcomed me with open arms and positive energy! There were TONS of spices from all over the world, gourmet jars of honey, specialty syrup, and more! I felt like a kid in a candy store. I won't lie, the large selection of spices can be a bit overwhelming, but remember, Angel, says "Food is Fashion." Pick a spice and/or olive oil, throw it on some food and I promise it will come out right! My eyes were bigger than my wallet (#PrepYourCoins) but I purchased three spices (Jerk, A Vibe, and Napa) and one olive oil (Cilantro+Lime+EVOO). I will definitely be back to support this black-owned business!

Larry M.

Yelp
Well...you can't eat out all the time...yes you can but that's neither here nor there!! Hey it's time to cook...with some flavor!! Spice up your life by going to the @thespicesuite located on 6902 4th st., Washington D.C., 20012. Easy parking, and accessible to Metro, welcoming customer service, and visually stunning store..."It's a whole VIBE...a safe space"- @tmcleod9 (My sister the reviewer of this spot in this instance). A very interesting, and unique storefront with oils/vinegars, honey & snacks, some kitchenware and, of course a multitude of SPICES!! I know you've heard about this spot...it's time to slide through!!

Starvel D.

Yelp
Since it was right next door to Donut Run, I decided to stop by the Spice Suite. I've been looking for the smoked tea rub I bought sometime ago and they had in stock today. I also decided to get an apple wood smoked salt. To make the trip extra special, Angel was there. I love when she's there because she's able to answer my spice questions. I learned something today about finishing salts. You just put them on when you finish the dish, you don't use them as seasoning. That's definitely not what I was gonna do with this applewood smoked sea salt but I'm glad she was there to give me my spice education. I can't wait to try it on some fries, fish, or chicken.

Gabrielle R.

Yelp
My sister and I went last year. It was a cool experience and the space is beautiful. My sister got some spices and I got their knife set and some other things. One of the blades of the knives started splitting before I even had the set a full year. I emailed them about the set and they told me thank you for the information without offering any solutions so that was disappointing. I would still go again but only for spices and none of their kitchenware.

T. P.

Yelp
I went to the new location in NE. The shop had a wiiiiiide assortment of spice blends for cooking and baking. There were sweet ones, savory ones, spicy ones, and even some that blended all three of those flavor experiences together. They also sell some bakeware and cookware items, tea blends, and the CUTEST reusable tea bags (made out of silicone). Great customer service! I would love to shop here all the time, but it is a bit pricey. This is an exceptionally good place to shop for gifts for your culinary friends. The biggest plus is that it's black owned.

Gregory C.

Yelp
Totally recommend folks check out this place especially if you are a lover of spice, olive oil and hot sauce. My favorite spices are so savory, chimichurri , southern thangs and smoked ground pepper. They also have Africa and DC shaped cutting boards, get them while supplies last.

Angi T.

Yelp
I had a whirlwind weekend in Baltimore/D.C./Virginia but one thing I had to see was The Spice Suite. I've been a fan ever since someone pulled my coat tails about this Black owned business that went all over the world and made amazing spices. I went to the website and I couldn't purchase individual spice bottles, but they did have monthly contoured box. I missed the first one because within 8 minutes it was sold out. Bummer. The next month I was on it. The anticipation had me on 20!!! I was so excited I got my first box. It shipped to me even faster. They ordering system is point. I got two more boxes, but I could see other items that were not available so hey that convinced me I needed to be inside the store. It's cute set up. The rows of spices, oils, jams, board, and dinnerware. You can lose your mind in their as well as your wallet. I didn't see a sign to let me know the price point. I was feeling like, "If you have to ask you can't afford it!" Yikes. I looked around and started filling my cart up. I had a couple of questions to assist with choosing more product. The young lady that was working there was engaged with some ladies (I later found out were personal shoppers for the store.) When there was a break in their conversation I asked about a sweet spice. The lady at the counter didn't know and referred it to one of the women who was a personal shopper. Her eyes automatically lit up. With great joy and passion, she told me at least four things I could use for that one item. I was amazed. This was great. I continued shopping and wanted to get maybe three more items. After the other two ladies left, I asked the clerk, "Hey, can you recommend a spice?" Her response, "I dunno...They buy all of it." I try to ask another way, "So, is there one that's people buy a lot?" Her reply, "I dunno." I'm starting to think that she just came in here and the real staff is in the back. Wow, don't you buy the spices? I'm so confused. The fact that she flatly tells me how she doesn't know...and she's not trying to know. It gave me pause. She could have literally told me anything and I wouldn't have known one way or the other. What she did do successfully is ensure no additional sales from me. I explained to her that I was out of town, so I wanted to stock up and I was so surprised no one has ever have written down "The Spice Suite's" heavy hitters. I'm sure if Angel the owner was there, she has given a deluge of suggestions but when she's not that we should have that same energy. I'm sure most folks that come through there know what they want but occasionally, you want a little guidance. There are still some friends that live in the area that never heard of it. Everyone isn't in the know and you should be able to go in and get some assistance if needed. Just to be clear upon entering customers are asked to sanitize your hands. Of course I happily applied but it also made me think...ooh yeah, I shouldn't pick up bottles unless I'm getting them. We're all trying to be safe out here. That was the other reason why I wanted to ask for a little more insight. It wasn't the best experience but it won't stop me from getting more. In fact, I'll check into using the personal shopper. Her love excitement for the product makes me think she would be amazing working at the store.

Yelp
I have followed the Spice Suite on Instagram for almost six months and wanted to visit. I finally made it and I will definitely be going back. I purchased the small cast iron wok that is ideal for preparing for dinner for one or two. The selection of flavored oils was difficult for me to decide, but I chose the lemon olive oil that enhanced the flavor of my salmon. I also purchased Savory Vibes and Lebanese 7 Spice.

Tara R.

Yelp
I've been following this shop online for awhile. I just had to go by while in town and it even exceeded my pretty high expectations!

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Get the smoked tea rub! It adds flavor like none other. This Black owned business is everything!

Kiah R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience here, they don't only have spices they have other vendors as well. The strawberry lime honey comb (not an everyday product) was delicious, I drizzled it on waffles & in my oatmeal. I cooked with other spices like their bourbon molasses & on everything & they are tasty spice blends. The spices are on the pricey side but they are worth it.

Rolanda C.

Yelp
I started out my day very excited for a visit to The Spice Suite. I'm from out of town and was introduced to the brand on social media. The ambiance was its own vibe. Very clean and well appointed. My problem was with the customer service. I felt as if every question I had was irritating to the individual at the counter. To the point that on question #3, I advised her that this was my first visit and that I was unfamiliar with them and their product line. By this time, I was over it and shut down. She mentioned a personal shopper option of which I was dure

Yelp
It was so many people there the day I went I couldn't enjoy browsing. I will go back and hope the block party is not every weekend

Yelp
First of all this shop is why I'm broke, secondly Angel, the owner is AMAZING. I found this place via Instagram 3 years ago I believe and I've been hooked ever since. Every spice I've encountered has been nothing short of OUTSTANDING. If you follow the shop on instagram (@thespicesuite) Angel likes to post meals she makes using her spices that'll inspire you to get creative in your own kitchen. Please do yourself a favor if you're local and visit this place or if you're like me (2300 miles away) find you a personal shopper to hook you up. Your kitchen and taste buds are begging you for an upgrade so treat yourself. I'm so saddity now that I walk past the spice aisle in my local grocery store with my nose turned up high lol. Oh and whatever you do...DO NOT MISS the Balsamic Vinegars and Lemon Pepper hot sauce, you'll hate yourself later if you do. My noted favorites are: Garlicky Spicesuite Signature Smoked Tea Rub Honey Chiptole Rustic Italian

Yelp
Aight, so BOOM: If you're looking for some amazing blends and mixes of everything from spices, teas, olive oils, & everything else in between, The Spice Suite in Washington D.C., is the place to go, baby! Honestly, the vibe and energy of this BLACK owned business is warm, welcoming, relaxing, and good for the soul! Everything from the music to the mirror to snap a pic of yourself or with your family & friends, & even the payphone in the corner that works (yup, a whole payphone)! If you're a chef or if you're someone that just enjoys cooking, this is the place to come to find eclectic blends to add some REAL flavor & soul to your food! Also, to all my hot sauce lovers, there's a signature lemon pepper hot sauce that is out of this WORLD good! You can put some on chicken wings, fish, in your greens- hell, even on your significant other! I can go on and on about the amazingness that is this place but you have to come check it out for yourself! I've shopped here a few times and each time, the customer service has been A1; no bs and no exaggeration. If you ever find yourself in the DC area, be sure to look up @thespicesuite and support this BLACK owner business. #ButWhatDoIKnow about #TheSpiceSuite

Yelp
I stopped into The Spice Suite for the first time yesterday. Let's just say, it won't be the last time. I've already started working on my list for the next trip. I really wanted to pick up a few things I'd seen mentioned on the store's Instagram account, so I made a list and a budget before my shopping adventure. The store stocks a wonderful variety of balsamic vinegars, oils, BBQ sauces, hot sauces, jams and spreads, teas, syrups, vanilla extracts, creamed honey, baking mixes, snacks, cookware, dinnerware, and, of course, spices. I really love that Angel, the owner, really encourages people to be creative when it comes to cooking. Go into the store with an open mind and see what speaks to you. I also love that Angel shares her space with other black women entrepreneurs who don't have their own brick and mortar stores. Because of COVID restrictions, there was a line outside when I arrived. But, it moved fairly quickly, and the entire shopping experience felt very safe. There's hand sanitizer at the door and shopping baskets are sanitized between clients. Welcoming vibes, friendly folks (business owners and customers), great music, awesome products...altogether a wonderful experience. I was in and out in about 15 minutes with about a dozen items in my little paper bag (highly recommend taking a reusable shopping bag!). It was such a pleasant surprise to see Angel at the register ringing people up.

Yelp
I bought the pizza dough because I have a pizza stone that is rarely used. Now I am a professional pizza maker! No more pizza delivery for me. I must confess that dinner wasn't served until 9:30. Should have read the directions ahead of time. It takes like 3 hours to rise but the lovely sales lady did warn me that it wasn't a quick process. Our BBQ chicken was made even more delicious by the amazing pizza dough from the Spice Suite.

Yelp
A gem of a shop! We're so lucky to have this beautiful business here in Takoma DC. Their spices are wonderful, balanced, and very thoughtfully blended. The packaging is also totally adorable/stylish/minimalistic in a very chic way, so that appeals to me, too. The store is gorgeous--very welcoming and thoughtfully laid out. It's easy to move around in the space and peruse all of the goods--spices, sauces, vinegars, dried grains, and soup bases... a little bit of everything. They also have a nice cozy nook to sit in and just chill, learn, converse. It's lovely. My favorite spices? The smoky porcini and the smoky sage and garlic. They're just phenomenal--so tasty and unique! I particularly love to use them on grilled salmon and veggies. So good.

Yelp
This place is amazing!!!!! I live in NC and I drive to the store from time to time just so I can hand pick some of my favorites. I have always been an amazing cook but The Spice Suite will elevate your life regardless of your natural given ability or inability. You can buy individually in store or you can wait for spice box releases online. I recommend both because the spice selection in the boxes are predetermined so you will be forced to step outside of your comfort zone.

Yelp
I wish I could just have a bottomless credit for this store. LOL This spice shop is such a jewel. The owner is an amazing spirit!! What I love most is that she gives back to the community; showcasing other small businesses by way of popup shops in her spot, allowing them to host events in her spot, or the special chalkboard wall with all the business' social media info. So dope! OK, now back to the spice experience. Its a completely different experience every time you visit. So you really have to revisit time and time again. Angel is always creating the most awesomest (-- yep its a word) blends and I tell you... I visit I feel accomplished with my purchase until I check her social media and I'm like I need to go back!! Case and point... I spent fitty bucks the other day right...I got a salt, rub, a ginger sugar mix, and one of the things I bought was the Mango vanilla infused honey. I get home and devoured a biscuit with it. Successful day right! I log on to Instagram and see she had a peach hibiscus maple syrup creation... So now my biscuit needs that one too. LOL WHY? Why ya gotta do this to my pockets Spice Suite? Again... Her creations, salts, rubs, honeys, oils are all unique and unmatched. You will literally want to spend it all. To be honest I'm such a regular person (spice-expertise level) when it comes to my meals. I just somehow know I need everything in this store and I think anyone reading this deserves a visit. I drove an hour into the city to get some things on a Saturday. Kudos for the olive oil bar. I was driving down to Fredericksburg but I think I'm set now that you have it.

Yelp
I have been following this buisness on Instagram and finally decided to go. I went as soon as the store opened to avoid possible holiday crowds. I was immediately greeted warmly and was told I could set my purse down to make for a more comfortable shopping experience. There was SO many options. I was able to shop in peace ( I actually hate when employees ask me 200 times if I need help) and if I had a question, she was there to help ( I forgot her name but I believe she was a vendor and I purchased 2 of her soy candles). I see a lot of reviews complaining that they needed guidance on how to use the spices, syrups, oils and sauces and instructions should be listed on how to use them BUT I believe that is so limiting. You can literally use what you want however you want. This allows to experiment and create something wonderful. For example, I picked up the lavender lime bourbon having NO idea how to use it but it just spoke to me. I ended up reducing it, adding some things and making a BOMB dipping sauce for party wings. I picked up the orange cranberry balsamic sauce, added brown sugar and cooked it down to drizzle over fried brussel sprouts. Bottom line this place is for everyone but especially if you want a more creative element to your cooking experience. Go with an open mind and dont limit yourself by thinking you need an instruction manual. Just go with it! ALSO how can I not support a black buisness that supports black buisness?! Take my money!

Yelp
One of my fave gems of the city and a true reminder of why Washington, DC is in fact "Chocolate City." I love Angel's (owner) support particularly of black artists and black-owned small businesses. She is real and keeps it 100. And no-one does it better than her, her product lineup is unique and curated in love. A great chill and post-up spot too and she hosts pop-ups on a regular so you are likely to visit and find hidden gems.

Yelp
These thoughtfully creative spice blends are perfect for a unique cooking experience. I'm a huge flavor enthusiast and really like trying out different combinations. It's hard sometimes to create your own, which is why I like the blends from The Spice Suite. Hoping to get my hands on a spice box one day, but they sell out so quickly!

Yelp
Spice suite is amazing! I have been a customer since 2018. I have historically only purchased spices. Recently I purchased kitchenware (I've had my eye on it for awhile) when I got my items home, I opened the box and one of the plates was chipped. I contacted the spice suite customer care team via email. The response time was immediate and they provided a solution in real time. They went the extra mile and delivered the new non-chipped plate to my front door! What can I say about these sistas.. STELLA customer service! I will patronize this business for LIFE!

Yelp
Stopped in yesterday, what a gem of a store! When you walk in you can feel the warmth and comfort vibes. It is very clear that a lot of love and thought has gone into the products on the shelf. For the quality of product the price point is great! I will no longer be bringing wine over to friends houses, from now on...spices from The Spice Suite! Be careful though, the staff has so many amazing ideas for use of all the spices, you will want to buy EVERYTHING. So glad this is walking distance from my house.
