The Best Restaurants in Sausalito | Eater SF

"Visible on the ferry approach to Sausalito, this old school spot doesn’t need to advertise its fabulous views, which is good, since this grande dame restaurant is a bit stuck in the 20th century. Love the view! Clam chowder was delicious. But unfrotunately angel hair sea food pasta has no flavor I had to add a lot of salt to taste. The seafood used in the pasta was not fresh, probably cheap frozen seafood. Overall it's a good place to visit only once for the view and eat the soup, then get your fill at a better restaurant.

Google
We had lunch here. Beautiful restaurant with incredible views of the bay. Lots of windows around the restaurant. We ordered bruschetta, arugula salad and the crab and shrimp club sandwich and everything was excellent. Photos show the view from our table, the sandwich and the last photo shows the restaurant on the pier sticking out.

We have had a lovely spontaneous lunch at spinnaker on Saturday. We even got the chance to sit on the terrace which was nice. The food was very nice and tasty, clam chowder was nice and thick as it should be. Space for improvement is on the side of the staff- we asked for mayo for the French fries, came 20 minutes later when we were already finished. Also sitting on the terrace we felt that the staff paid more attention to the guests in the main area and not visit out area too often. Thank you for the nice experience!

Google
Service: 10/10, especially to Ricardo(?) I apologize if I incorrectly recalled our server’s name. He was spectacular. Food: the appetizers were incredible. Everyone agreed that it was one of the best calamari’s we’ve ever had. Everyone enjoyed their food though my only small complaint was that the chicken was dry (probably not a surprise considering it’s a seafood restaurant!). Overall, I enjoyed the food a lot and felt the entree sizes were very adequate! Atmosphere: they seated us at the window seats and it was one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever had. Loved it. Overall, I felt this place was worth the long drive :). Valet parking is a bonus.

Fine dining rest. The view to bay area are stunning. The food is delicious. The staffs are so friendly. The environment are relaxing. The price a little bit pricey. Worth to try. Take your time and enjoy the rest.

Google
The view is fantastic, but the food and service are just average. Some of the furniture could use repair, our table was wobbly and shook every time we moved a dish. It affected the overall dining experience.

Google
The location is great, the look and feel suggests that it is very high end. To achieve the high level that the look in first impressions, there are some points for improvement. If you sit outside, you have to wait quite a long time for service. The dishes are also quite average compared to restaurants in the area.

Google
One of the best spots in San Francisco / Sausalito to have dinner with a view of the city. The seafood especially the lobster and the prawns are excellent. The location, the service and the quality of the foods. And also the wine is excellent. I recommend some oysters to start and move on with prawns lobster or any other seafood. A dinner reservation and bring your friends. Enjoy the sunsets and the view of the city, while pelicans are fishing.

Yelp
The location of the Spinnaker is great but the food, not so much. This was my first visit to the restaurant; I was there for lunch. I ordered the light lunch option of crab cakes with soup. The clam chowder was decent with good clam texture. But the crab cakes (two) could have used some crab! They were small and barely tasted of crab - leave alone actually being able to see some crab meat in there. Clearly they had some filler in there to build up the (small) volume! The rest of my plate was filled with fries - almost 3/4 of the plate. Very disappointing for a seafood restaurant. The service was decent. And we did enjoy prosecco from their list. But I won't be returning. The view can be had from other parts of Sausalito.

Yelp
Oyster Rockefeller 5 baked with Spinach, Brandy, Cream & Bread Crumbs, creamy, flavorful Crab Cakes 3 super small, too much flour, not enough crab meat Clam Chowder 5 creamy, chewy chunks of clams, not too much potato, medium thickness, flavorful Angel Hair with Rock Shrimp, Bay Scallops & Clams 4 Garlic, Onions, Sundried Tomato, Buerre Blanc, abundant seafood, light, lemony flavor Service 3 very slow service, appetizers take a long time to arrive, takes 20min to get the bill Ambiance 4 great view of SF

Yelp
We've been here twice to celebrate birthdays and it's perfection by the sea. Loved the beautiful views and excellent clam chowder. The calamari and crabcakes were tasty too. Service was impeccable. We also spotted a stingray while sitting outside! Unfortunately, my food pics are stuck in my damaged phone and couldn't transfer them over. Will update when we go back!

Yelp
*Easy to make reservations and the restaurant is very spacious with beautiful seaside views all over *Nicely decorated for Christmas so it's great for photos; lovely vibes *Items were either a hit or miss Complimentary sourdough bread w/butter (from Wedemeyer Bakery in SSF): crunchy crust but soft on the inside; great flavor Cocktails: I only tried 2, but both didn't have much alcohol in them at all; tasty like juice Butter lettuce w/maple vinaigrette: literally a side salad size on a side plate (for the price, you'd think it's an entree) quite sweet dressing but balanced flavor thanks to the blue cheese and the salty crunch of the walnuts + sweetness of the cranberries was an awesome combination Pasta primavero (vegan): Can't speak for this one, but I was told it's good Mixed seafood grill: Small serving of seafood, its good but not special and not worth its price due to rice and green beans that fill up 1/3 of the plate Angel hair pasta: Favorite item we tried here; reasonable amount of seafood and creamy sauce in the pasta; overall delicious

Yelp
Went here for dinner and it was very underwhelming. I only liked the bread and clam chowder. As for the linguine with clams it's a little salty and it would be better if they didn't add sirracha to it. They do give you a lot of clams though. Also, the crab cakes were mediocre and not crispy at all. Not much of a view either. This restaurant needs to be remodeled since it's a bit dated. The service is great, but that's about it.

Yelp
The Spinnaker is an excellent choice if you're ever in the Sausalito area. They have ample amount of parking, gorgeous outdoor seating that overlooks the bay, delicious food options, great service, and dog friendly!

Yelp
A family member was in town for a short trip and we wanted to take him to a nice restaurant with good food. The Spinnaker resides in Sausalito which made for a nice drive to and from the restaurant. Our reservation was for a large party at 1PM. They seated us immediately. Our table offered an excellent view of the City of San Francisco. It was a warm, sunny day, making visibility 100%. Everyone loved seeing the water, the birds that occasionally flew by and the boats that were sailing. Our server was excellent. She was friendly & personable. She got all of our orders right and drinks were constantly topped off. With how big our group was and how much we ordered, she did a fabulous job of remembering everything. The food was fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. Everyone enjoyed the appetizers and their entrees. They have a vast dessert menu so remember to save some space! The Spinnaker offers self parking OR valet for tips. We opted to valet, but the parking lot is decently sized and parking can be found relatively easily. Pricing was high, but what isn't these days. Thank you for a good lunch, we'll be back!

Yelp
Excellent bay views! You might be lucky to spot a sea lion or harbor porpoise swim by. Arrive early for window seating. Service is good. The dungeness crab & avocado is sublime. Highly recommend. Most fish entrees are delicious. The tri color mousse torte is rich & not overly sweet.
google avatar

Yelp
We've been here many times and it's always a great experience. Nelson has gone above and beyond every time we've gone there for dinner even making us a special Dungeness crab dish. The views are amazing. The food is always fresh and well prepared. I specifically enjoy the seafood dishes. The staff is top-notch professional some of these dudes been doing this for decades and you can tell for the experience they provide. Dinning here is a fun casual atmosphere with Michelin quality food. The "Who's Who" of Sausalito can often be found dining here. If you're checking out sauce later, this is the place to go for dinner.

Yelp
I first came here with my aunt when I was younger in the 90s and had my first Cesar salad. My sister was married here years ago and I have a lot of memories going here. The food is mostly California style cuisine and seafood and some Italian style. It does have a feel for older locals to visit but I think it's a great choice for a seafood meal with fabulous views of the bay and San Francisco. You can see the top of the Golden Gate Bridge. Service is professional and courteous. Today we tried the crab salad with avocados and a grilled artichoke appetizer. Both excellent! I tried the sailor plate that was basically an elevated fish and chips with shrimp, calamari and scallops. My wife had the petrale sole it was the best dish. It is debatable if this should be 4 or 5 stars but I think it's 5 from my memories and the quality of the food in a nice location. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Sausalito. It's right near the ferry stop so people visiting for the day can easily get there.

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming to this restaurant since 2011. We always love coming here, the staff is always so nice and the view is awesome. We decided to eat at the Spinnaker for dinner Tuesday, Jan 14th. Our favorite disk is the Sea Bass but unfortunately it was not on the menu. My wife and I had a cup of Clam Chowder for an appetizer. The Clam Chowder was great, it had a nice creamy texture with lots of clam and potatoes. My wife picked the Petrale Fillet with lemon beurre blanc plate. Fish was cooked just right but the flavor was bland. I had the Fried Prawns with shoestring potatoes. The Prawns were so overcooked, I was surprised that they brought them out and gave them to me. I did not ask them to take them back because they should have never served them to me in the first place. I ate some of them but I was very disappointed. We drove from the Roseville area just for dinner at our favorite restaurant, it is no longer our favorite restaurant.

Yelp
First time coming here with a group of 13 people. since we revered early, they had the table setup for us and the server was great throughout the whole service. It was pretty busy since we went on a Sunday. The food was okay, but the dessert was delicious. The view and the location of the restaurant is very beautiful. I would come back for brunch or breakfast for light meals/dessert/ coffee.

Yelp
Visited the restaurant first time today 11/24/2024 for my daughter's bday. Beautiful location of course. We didn't have a reservation but got seated right away outside. The place is nice. The entrees are a tad bit tooo pricey for the quantity and Lacks flavor. I ordered the grilled seafood kid with rice n veggies. It came with 2 small cubes of fish, 2 shrimp, 1 scallop. Little bit of yellow rice n some carrots n green beans. The seafood grill had no flavors. For almost $33, way over priced and super low quantity. Son ordered crab Mac n cheese. Lacked flavor... no taste. We added salt n pepper to give it flavor . Daughter had the crab n shrimp sandwich. Also cold sandwich n lacked flavor. Appetizers- rockfella oysters a needed hot sauce - Tabasco or something . Clam Chowder was good. They did give crackers for the chowder though. Oh and ur women's bathroom stinks . Probably won't go back. Might try other places.

Yelp
Great service! Incredible views! And a wonderful place to enjoy the Bay. My friends and I made a reservation from the ferry and we seated right away. We had an excellent table on the patio and our server was kind recommended really great dishes and we highly recommend this for groups as well as date night or just to.

Yelp
Before I begin, service and ambiance are great. The bones of this restaurant are decorated with long even wooden slats, near an ocean channel, through fog and burning temperatures. Their care is evident. Someone loves this restaurant, but definitely not for their kitchen. from their website "The Spinnaker is one of the rare family owned and operated restaurants in the Bay Area with Bill's son Tim McDonnell at the helm and Jeff Scharosch, a partner and the general manager who has been with the company for 27+ years. The Cliff House in Folsom, CA is also owned and operated by the family." We had a party of 10 and each meal was of over cooked seafood, my steak was well, well done.. Their crab bisque was so over cooked that it tasted dry. The steak was supposed to be topped with a local blue cheese and that flavor was never there. Over the past two decades their food quality has declined. I am probably being too kind. It's hard to cut off an addicted relative, but this was too far. I guess the tenth visit was the last for myself. One for their unerring quiet and continuous flow of water, coffee, tea and wine, and one star for the view and restaurant caretaker. be well.

Yelp
The Spinnaker has been a family favorite for decades, it has been a Sausalito icon since 1960. The panoramic views of the skyline of San Francisco, Angel Island, Belvedere and the Sausalito waterfront are breathtaking. A perfect place for locals and impressive views to bring visitors. We started with cocktails and a appetizer of a focaccia bruschetta, delicious! A window table with sweeping views on a beautiful Sausalito evening, perfection. The clam chowder was the perfect balance of creaminess and mix of potatoes and clams. The rock shrimp quesadilla on the appetizer menu was enough for a meal. The service from the bar and the wait staff was impressive.

Yelp
We had the most amazing lunch here. The views from the patio are unmatched. Our food was delicious and the server was exactly on point the entire time. The halibut was perfectly flaky with a beautiful piccata sauce. The bread pudding was also really incredible. I was skeptical having seen all the reviews, but our experience was amazing. Or server did say that they had recently replaced the chef, so if you're on the fence, just give it a try.
google avatar

Cassandra A.

Yelp
The view is stunning The serving staff were friendly and helpful. Valet was too. The manager scolded an employee loudly near our table. It was rude and uncomfortable. The food was only okay, especially given the cost of lunch. The shrimp was almost tough it was so overdone. The sauce was bland. The cheese stuffed ravioli looked green inside, maybe spinach? It was unexpected. There are better restaurants nearby.

Yelp
Just absolutely beautiful views and great food. There's an element of luck with your table, but for parties of 2 or 4 you are pretty sure to get a window table. We just got the 4 seat perfect corner table, best in the house, with no special request, just lucky. We had the daily fish special (sole stuffed with crab with pomegranate and mango on saffron rice), grilled artichoke, and the crab Mac and cheese. All were done perfectly. The wine list is also well done. Our server, Alfredo, was personable and a pleasure. We highly recommend a visit and walk along the water to get here and take in the views of sf and bridges

Yelp
The food was amazing, we started off with the oysters and the calamari, best calamari I've ever had. My favorite thing we ordered had to be the Caprese salad, it was so fresh and cold. Perfect for a hot day. The service was lovely, our waiter kept checking on us and refilled our bread basket. Very kind staff. I'd recommend this place. The view was amazing.

Yelp
I was there for dinner today with three of my dearest friends....we've known each other for half a century. Hadn't been there in @40 years....and what a treat it was to be there tonight. The ambiance was warm...sophisticated, yet very comforting. We had a great table by the water...where we witnessed wild life...doing their thing...and egret, and harbor seals...fishing in the illuminated waters below our window.....WOW!! I had the seared scallops...excellent...and we shared the bread pudding...the best. Thank you to our server, MYA, for being such a great advisor...and our parking attendant was particularly kind...thank you OLEG. The host and all of the staff we interacted with were wonderful. I live in the city...but I will surely make a point to return sooner...than my last visit. I tried to attach a video but it couldn't load. What a beautiful experience.

Yelp
Came to the Spinnaker to celebrate an anniversary for lunch. It was a beautiful day in low 80's in Sausalito. The view of SF is amazing. Spacious dining room with excellent service. I did not take any pictures, my wife does not like that , so I didn't press. I had 1/2 dz oysters to start. They were nice and sweet. Wife had crab cakes and a salad that were good. I had the Seafood plate that was also good. It's been a minute since we'd been to The Spinnaker. I would recommend this business for its view and quality of food and great service.

Yelp
I came here for a spontaneous check-in! Good: - Beautiful views, right next to the Ferry - The clam chowder was super good, as well as the Moscow mule drink that I had - The ambiance was really nice for a date-like environment Bad: - Pretty expensive - The staff are nice, but pretty low touch Overall this was a touristy location but not sure if I'd come again unless for a special occasion.

Yelp
This is a review on using the Spinnaker as a wedding venue. Unfortunately, my experience with The Spinnaker fell short of my expectations due to a series of issues that significantly impacted my wedding day. I'd like to share a few key points from my experience that I feel future clients should consider: 1. Headcount & Billing: Despite providing a final headcount in writing, my request was overlooked, leading to an overcharge on food. This lack of attention to detail was disappointing, especially as it involved additional, unexpected costs. 2. Bar Management: The bar service was poorly managed, resulting in alcohol waste and continued service beyond the agreed-upon last call time. This created additional charges that were not anticipated and undermined our agreed plans. 3. Coordination Challenges: The coordinator seemed focused on profit over client satisfaction, which made for a stressful planning process. Many of my requests were disregarded or minimized, which ultimately led to a day that didn't fully reflect the vision I had communicated. In summary, while The Spinnaker has a lot of potential, my experience was marred by a lack of client consideration and unclear billing practices. I would recommend future clients be very clear and vigilant in their agreements if choosing this venue.

Yelp
This is an old school classic MCM restaurant on the water with amazing views overlooking the bay right off the boardwalk downtown. In the day you've got all the action of the bay and at night you have the glittering skyline of downtown San Fran. We've watched sailboats, kayakers, SUP'ers, seals and water fowl while eating lunch that's really fun. We've never had bad service, I think it gets busier for brunch but we've always stopped in when driving through to Sonoma or Napa from/to SFO. Valet is for tips if public parking is limited. We love this place for the seafood, appetizers and drinks. The citrus Dungeness crab and avocado appetizer is to die for while still being healthy. The chowder has the most clams I've ever seen and if you love artichokes, I'd recommend the hot appetizer. The pours are very healthy for cocktails and wine. This is just a solid place in Sausalito.

Yelp
Service: 5/5 - Thank you, Joan (apologies if I misspelled your name)! View: 5/5 Parking Lot Staff: 5/5 Food: 3/5 - Comparable to a regular seafood restaurant in the Bay Area. Thank you for your service!

Yelp
While our server was polite, service was rather slow. We mentioned it was my brother's birthday, hoping they would do something special but it was hardly even acknowledged. Food was mediocre; I ordered the scallops and it was rather salty. I also got a strawberry lemonade which didn't even taste like lemonade. However, the selling point is the view of the bay, which is stunning on a day with good weather. This place is really only worth a one-time visit; you can get better fare at the other restaurants along the waterfront with views almost as good.

Yelp
After emailing Zorona (banquet manager), my fiancé and I went to tour this place as a potential wedding venue at the end of August. Jeff, the one who toured us, was great, and I absolutely loved it. I was going to book it after finishing up the rest of my scheduled wedding tours. Today was my last tour at a different location. It was close enough to the Spinnaker that I figured I'd try to get a table as a walk-in afterwards. The nice hostess sat us down right away. We got water and bread quickly, and then nothing else. We sat at the table for one hour, and no one came to take our order, despite every other table around us getting frequent service. We got up and left. I mentioned not getting service to the hostess on the way out. I suppose I'm glad I got this experience before signing a contract.

Yelp
Shame on me. Our waiter asked how the food was and I didn't tell him the truth. So, I feel a bit like a jerk writing this review. Here's why it's two stars: The Spinnaker used to serve a basket of Wedemeyer's sourdough bread- now two slices come on a plate. Really? I had the Caprese salad, which was served on an icy cold plate with tomatoes that just looked old and tired. It seemed as if this salad was leftover from the day before and came directly from the refrigerator. My entree was the vegetable pasta. It was okay until I got into the sauce- seemed like a spinach slurry, which quickly became unappetizing. My husband ordered fish and chips and we were both astounded at how small the fish portions were. The service was good, the view is always great, but I will not be going back (I've been many times) until the food is better. I hope that happens soon.
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
The restaurant has not been redone since the 90's...needs new carpet ,paint ,and new decor Food is ok ...nothing special Service is always excellent But what makes this restaurant and always has a fond place in my heart is the view ....not a better view of SF..
google avatar

Ben B.

Yelp
I chose the squid ink pasta with prawns. It was delicious. The menu actually had several other options that I thought I wanted. A Chalk Hill chardonnay complemented my dish. The views are spectacular from most of the tables. The staff was fast, friendly and efficient.
google avatar

Tom M.

Yelp
You go there for the views which was nice but also available at a couple of other nearby restaurants. This is very old school as most of the patrons seemed to be over 70 so my son and I felt a little out of place. The food was good but nothing that would warrant the higher than average pricing. The starter bread was cold and too chewy but the plate was warm?!? The calamari was good but had the texture and breading of onion rings. Very greasy too. The seafood sampler seemed like what they had leftover with only one oyster and one shrimp?!? Weird. The waiter talked me into the mixed grill but it had no flavor. The fish was dry and the rice pilaf was the most bland. The veggies, particularly the celery tasted bland and not very fresh. Also, the waiter didn't share with us the daily specials as he did for the table next to us but we doubt they would've been any better when we saw what the other table had ordered. Still, it would've been nice to let us know. Definitely much better options nearby.

Yelp
We were in San Francisco for business and while my husband was in a meeting I went wandering around Sausalito and came across this place. It was very clean and elegant but I opted to sit outside because the view is spectacular. The service was equally great and the food was excellent. We were only in town for a long weekend so my husband didn't get the opportunity to dine here, but next time we are out there, I will definitely take him!

Yelp
Met up with old friends for a sunset dinner at Spinnaker restaurant in Sausalito. Spinnaker boosts the best view dining of San Francisco this side of the Bay. We had reservations and were promptly seated at a table right on the water. No question the view is the top draw for locals and tourists. Our group ordered the gamut of entrees, appetizers, and desserts. Grilled seafood combo 4 stars one skewer of shrimp salmon scallops small portions Fried calamari 4 stars nicely breaded small portions Pan seared scallops entree 4 stars nicely cooked small portions Petrale Dore 4 stars nicely cooked Desserts bread pudding and ice cream. The food was good. Pricey and small portions. The service was just ok, the restaurant was busy with people waiting for tables. Free parking in their lot.

Yelp
This restaurant has great view everywhere you sit! We came here exactly at 11 am when it just opened and was able to sit at the corner where we probably had the best view. We saw all the boat, birds and sea lions. We were waving to all the boats passing by which was fun! Today's special is fish stuffed with bay shrimp. It was amazing. The texture is crispy outside and moist inside with fish and bay shrimps. My winter salad has salmon, scallop, shrimps and fish. It's probably the best seafood salad I've ever had. I'm soooo glad this place not only has great ocean view but also with the best food and service!

Yelp
I've been eating here, off and on, for at least 30 years. Recently, I had relatives visit who wanted to have seafood, so I made a reservation for five at The Spinnaker for a weekday evening at 6:00. When I arrived, the place was less than half full. The seafood was great, as usual. The view was killer, and the ambiance was, and always has been, unbeatable. The service was adequate, but not the best I've ever had at this restaurant. When the check came, I reached for it as the obvious host. The waiter waved it about, trying to figure out where it should go. As the waiter was standing near one of my guests, he handed the check to him and said, "A 20% service charge has already been added." My guest was obviously taken aback by this, and his wife said, "The menu said they would do this for parties with eight or more. We're only five." Mind you, I, myself, am a habitual over-tipper. My guest, an obvious working class retired guy, was not. He was visibly disturbed. I was embarrassed by the server's faux pas, as was everybody at the table. I mean, I was dressed in a suit and tie. Everyone else was wearing a souvenir sweatshirt. Who would you give the check to? It was a cringe moment that could have been avoided. I will still continue to patronize The Spinnaker, but I do hope that in the future, the staff will be more sensitive and more aware of what's going on around them.

Yelp
We had a reservation for 5 pm but got hungry early and decided to drop by at 3 pm to see if they could fit us in. To our delight, they seated us within 20 minutes, offering a stunning window seat with a breathtaking ocean view. Watching birds soar and ships sail by made for a perfect backdrop. We ordered two margaritas, and they were delightfully strong! My salmon dish was a buttery, delicious masterpiece, and I devoured every bite. Even the spinach, prepared with hints of butter and garlic, was incredible. The staff, the food, the atmosphere--everything was top-notch. I can't wait to return!

Yelp
A seafood restaurant with an amazing waterfront location that truly enhances the dining experience. The restaurant features big windows that provide stunning ocean views, making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the scenery. At night, the atmosphere becomes tranquil and serene, adding a special touch to the ambiance. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the pan-seared scallops, and they were cooked to perfection, with a delightful combination of flavors and a beautiful presentation. The freshness of the seafood was evident in every bite, and the portion sizes were just right. In addition to the scallops, the menu offers a wide variety of seafood dishes, ensuring there is something for everyone. The service was attentive and friendly, making the evening even more enjoyable. Spinnaker is not just a great place for a romantic date but also an excellent choice for family gatherings. The spacious dining area and inviting atmosphere make it comfortable for larger groups, while the spectacular views provide a picturesque backdrop for any occasion. Whether you're celebrating a special event or simply looking for a nice place to dine, Spinnaker is a memorable dining destination that combines excellent food, beautiful views, and a serene setting.

Yelp
Excellent Restaurant! We came here for my mom's birthday several weeks ago. The Spinnaker has the best views of San Francisco Bay. It's the perfect spot for a special occasion or a fancy date night. We came during lunch time and I ordered the Dungeness & Rock Crab Mac & Cheese $31. It was absolutely delicious! I kept saying "Mmmmm!" while eating it! Although, it's 100% my fault and I knowingly ordered the Crab Mac & Cheese even though I'm lactose intolerant thinking I could get away with it. Let's just say I was super nauseous after my meal haha no regrets though since I took that chance! If you can handle dairy, I highly recommend that! My family ordered calamari for the table which tasted nice and fresh! We loved it! Service was fantastic and fast! My dad is not a very patient person, and the staff here did an excellent job of providing fast and efficient service! He didn't have to request anything twice lol. Thank you! I would love to come back to The Spinnaker again for a date night one time!

Yelp
Blessed to experience another restaurant with a spectacular view in the same week as Skates! This view is just as nice in its own way. You can see the houses on the hills that reminds you of Italy's coast and even more mesmerizing when there's a pretty sunset that turns the sky orange/pinkish. The place is dated. The carpet flooring was dirty and seats were stained. The indoor dining is relatively small, but there is no bad seat for the view. They offer outdoor dining as well that has a little pier which is nice to go out and take pics. They offer free valet which is nice. The service was tolerable. The food was slightly better than Skates. Ya know how I like my calamari, and this was not it! You know this isn't real calamari when they only serve the rings! The seafood was good and the complimentary bread was served warm (much appreciated). Portions aren't too outrageous either. 4 stars for the view and slightly elevated food than Skates. But one star for the dated look and lack of cleanliness of the space, especially being a "fancy" restaurant. It wasn't cheap.

Yelp
The only good part is the view. There's no attention to detail. Slow service. The place has an old feel ( the dry fake discolored flowers on the table) I asked for a drink the other table had yet they didn't put as much effort for the presentation. The drink was mediocre and strong alcohol taste. I expect that if I'm drinking sugar I can't taste the liquor so strong. The crab Mac and cheese we had to break a crab leg. Not something you want to do at a fine dining restaurant.

Yelp
I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is delicious, and the service is always exemplary. We have been coming for the last couple of years to celebrate our anniversary. We also brought another couple one year and they also loved everything. The atmosphere is always so warm and just classy all at the same time. It is my favorite restaurant. An added bonus is that the prices are very reasonable. So come and visit, because I am confident that you will be glad that you did.

Yelp
Went to The Spinnaker two weeks ago for Sunday brunch. The food was quite good, the service the same. We didn't have to wait for a table even though we'd just popped in. We really enjoyed the view. Inspired to bring the boat down here just to be where these people were that day! Hope to return on our next visit. ETA: I had the best Crab Louie here that I've ever eaten. The plate was piled high and I didn't have to poke around the lettuce to find succulent, fresh, delicious crab meat! Knocked it out of the park!

Yelp
Great view, very mediocre food. And the service was a bit on the slow side. Definitely would not come back. Not much more to say than that.

Yelp
The ambiance was the best part of this restaurant! The food was ok. Pricey- some items were good and others just average. The complimentary valet guy was the nicest employee and a nice touch to the experience. The staff was friendly enough.

Yelp
Great place to stop at when you're in town! The restaurant was at a very nice location overlooking the bay and golden gate bridge. We enjoyed a bay shrimp cocktail and a vegetarian impossible burger. Both were great choices! Would stop back by next time we make a trip in the bay area.

Yelp
It's been a while since we have been back here, and unfortunately we were so disappointed. The food quality has taken a nosedive. The crab cakes were pathetic. The only good part of the crab cakes were the French fries. The fruit "salsa" was barely a salsa and more like a mushy glob of old jam from a jar. The crab cakes themselves were soft and so incredibly thin and tiny. Almost 30 bucks for those? That was astonishing. The clam chowder was okay, but tasted like it was full of flour or cornstarch(some sort of thickening agent). The fish n chips and sailors plates were also disappointing. You could tell they made all their fries all at once earlier in the day and then just gave the old fries. They weren't hot at all. Who wants room temperature fries? The fried prawn was tasty, but the calamari and scallops were tasteless. I wish their food quality didn't go down so much. It just felt like frozen microwaved food. The two stars are for the wonderful service, employees, and that view! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the staff are wonderful. It's a lovely place for the view and ambiance....the food? Unfortunately not on this trip.
