Why Gabrielle Hamilton’s Spotted Pig Deal Fell Apart | Eater

"The restaurant became the focal point of a proposed takeover by two chefs who said their goal was to enact a #MeToo–era cleanup at a place rife with industry problems — sexual harassment, pay parity, immigrant-documentation issues and entrenched upstairs/downstairs hierarchies. The plan originally allowed the accused former owner, Ken Friedman, to remain as a passive lead investor and collect profit if the business became profitable, because the chefs viewed addressing that site as where they could do the most substantial work. They intended to import their own staff manual and values and make cosmetic changes like repainting the dark interior pale yellow, but withdrew after discovering Friedman was still receiving a salary-style “management fee” despite not working on-site; keeping him on the payroll proved ethically and financially untenable amid industry backlash, and the deal ultimately dissolved." - Monica Burton

The Spotted Pig at Saladaeng is a great spot, simple decor and modern feel, they offerdelicious Tex-Mex dishes with a modern twist. The chicken fajitas are a standout—tender grilled chicken served sizzling with peppers and onions, paired perfectly with soft tortillas and flavorful Mexican sauces. The happy hour here is a great deal, featuring refreshing cocktails at two for one prices and drinks that complement the food well, making it an ideal place to unwind after work. I also like the stuffed chillies which were awesome. Friendly service and a relaxed vibe add to the experience, making it a solid choice for casual dining in Silom

Fresh Mex is a good descriptor for the great food served at Spotted pig (SP) A firm favorite for my family and I, everything we’ve ordered - tacos, burritos, nachos, salads, salsa and corn chips, and more - are vibrant, tasty, colorful, and fresh. I am a big fan of their mole, which tastes infinitely better than others I’ve tried in the city. The SP mole is rich and unctuous, bringing a delicious mix of sweet and savory and a smooth, creamy texture. I could drink it! They also have a big drinks list and I vow to try their margaritas one day. We also love the bright, open vibe of the restaurant thanks to big windows which make you feel like part of the sidewalk. Two thumbs up and highly recommended for super Mexican food that delivers great value, flavor, and fun.

The Spotted Pig offers a wonderful and refreshing change of pace from the preponderance of good Thai food that you will experience in Bangkok. The restaurant provides a welcoming and comfortable, open and airy atmosphere for dining. The service is prompt and friendly. And the restaurant provides the best version of Tex-Mex cuisine that I have found anywhere in Asia. They serve a wide variety of Tex-Mex classics. The ingredients are fresh, the dishes well prepared, and the fried foods are well-crisped with little to no frying oil residue. Additionally, they serve a variety of large proportioned salads that are fresh and sumptuous. The prices are reasonable and enable ordering a variety of dishes to get a broader sampling of the excellent cuisine. The one recommendation that I would make is for the restaurant to offer various combination platters as is the custom in US Tex-Mex restaurants.

I just tried this Mexican restaurant for the first time, and everything was so good. Booking a table was easy, and parking was convenient, right across the street. The staff were super friendly and spoke English fluently, making the whole experience smooth and comfortable. The food was delicious, well-seasoned, and served in generous portions. Everything came out fresh and beautifully presented. The flavors were well-balanced, and the ingredients tasted high-quality. Overall, it was such a satisfying meal in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Definitely a place worth revisiting.

Incredible Experience at The Spotted Pig My family of four, including our two boys aged 13 and 4, visited The Spotted Pig Mexican restaurant this evening—and we were absolutely blown away! From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for what turned out to be an unforgettable dining experience. The food was nothing short of amazing—every dish was bursting with authentic Mexican flavor, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. Whether it was the tacos, burritos, or the Colorado beef, each bite was a delight for the taste buds. Even our picky little one who had a huge portion of fish and chips couldn’t get enough! What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. They were fantastic with the kids and went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time. Huge kudos to the entire team at The Spotted Pig—your passion and hard work truly shine through. We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll be telling all our friends to visit too. Keep up the amazing work! 🌮💫👏

The food was overall delicious, and the tofu quesadilla was especially impressive — perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The atmosphere was also great: clean, cozy, and pleasant. I really enjoyed my time here and would love to come back!
