This was about a week ago and I'm never ordering from there again - and I didn't even get to eat the food. Not that they care. But, what had happened was... my order was taking forever, well over an hour, and GH support said they're using their own driver and are on the way. Ok, no big deal, I wasn't really upset about the time, just wanted to know that it was happening - I had been a big fan of this place for years and was looking forward to this meal.
Now, I've had repeated issues with GH drivers where they never let me know they arrived and leave my food outside on the ground in a high-traffic area for residents and pets, bugs ... whatever, food doesn't belong on the damn ground. So because of these issues, I have delivery notes mentioning there's no tip if food is left outside. It's not meant to be so much of a threat, I just appreciate communication... especially when I'm hungry.
So, another half hour goes by and I call Square Deli directly. The girl who answered asked me to hold and then some guy picks up sounding like he's already got it out for me - I was confused by his attitude when I didn't have one. He tells me their driver called and tried the building intercom but I didn't answer. My phone *never* rang, for whatever reason, and when I said that he just seemed to get more upset. So I go out front to find my food cold like it had been sitting there for a long while, oh, also the note attached to the bag.
First off, my address is barely 2mi from the shop and if they're listed as a delivery option for whatever address, don't get mad at me for taking advantage. I'm trying to patron your damn deli.
Then, as I'm opening up the bag to get to my sandwich, fries & juice, I stopped, considering the fact that if they were bent outta shape enough to pen this love letter, I can't trust what was done with my food. I've seen too much in my lifetime to put good faith into this situation.
So I conveyed this to GH and got refunded for the food part of it, paid for the juice and left the $4-5 tip as is, just the tip. I wouldn't have taken the tip anyway if this was due to a call not going thru, but that note was unnecessary and a bad look for them. Stapling nasty notes to your deliveries?? Really??
