My husband and I just finished a very nice lunch here. We both had the fish tacos and the fish was really delicious. Can't waitress was very pleasant and we enjoyed a relaxed by created by the brick walls industrial ceiling. I recommend.

The Squealing Pig is a comfortable place nestled into Boston with nice staff. The pulled pork sandwich was very good with a perfectly toasted bun. They had a good size drink menu and happy hour specials if you come before 5.

The food was reasonably good but definitely under seasoned, which explains the multiple salt shakers at each table. The fish was super fresh, breading was a little thick but still crunchy. The coleslaw was a refreshingly tart as was the tartar sauce. The cheeseburger was good too. If you're looking for a super crispy piece of bacon, please tell them to cook it that way or it's going to be soft and chewy. Bonus, sit in the smaller room by the fireplace, definitely a cosier section that the front with the bar. Trivia night is on Wednesdays and Free oyster night is on Tuesdays 5-8pm.

This place is a hidden gem. From the outside, the restaurant is completely unassuming, but once inside, you’re hit with an upbeat atmosphere and great decor. I like that it has an open kitchen, it makes you feel like they have nothing to hide. The staff was extremely friendly and the food tasted fresh and homemade. I’d definitely return.

Best lamb burger I've ever had on the east coast... Cod was good nice and crispy coating... Their desert waffles with Mars bars and bananas, whipped cream and strawberries is the best!!! Must try out this place... Will come again!

A bar as comfortable as a well worn pair of shoes. A chill vibe and excellent food! Oysters were plump and fresh, their Asian prep is great: yuzu soy, ginger and wasabi. Very tasty! Their house cocktail sauce is good too. The Smoked Seafood.Chowder was a surprising standout! Chock full of smoked fish and in a "not too rich" cream base, this isn't an overly thickened chowder and one of the best chowder I've had. Lobster Roll is very good and well priced. Not too overly dressed and LOTS of minced lobster, topped off with a strip of bacon. Seems to be a P-Town thing, bacon on a Lobstah Roll. I'm not mad at it at all! Good sweet potato fries, the harissa sauce can use more harissa. The CURRY FRIES are legit! Good beer and whisky selection.

Finally open so had a go with the pizza here. Must say this was the strangest margherita pizza I have ever try. The whole wheat crust was delicious but the red sauce and mozzarella were not tasty. Plus the preparation with the non melted cheese made for a strange texture to the pizza. Anyhow, I may try again but a different pizza. Like the wood fire idea but so far not impressed with pizza. Look like a good drinking spot though.

Praise for the bar tender On Thursday, March 30th, 5 of us went to the restaurant around 5:30 PM for dinner and drinks. I can’t believe the bar tender was taking care of the entire restaurant BY HIMSELF. Thankfully, help arrived later that evening. I didn’t get his name, but my bill says “Server: PM B.” This man was patient and kind. He even made a custom drink for my friend. I mean, who runs an full restaurant and still has patience? This person deserves a bonus! Thank you so much for taking care of us and I’m sorry the restaurant manager doesn’t know that you need more than one person to run the place.

4.5 stars. Pretty solid place, I'd go back. Nice varied menu, decent quality food, and decent service. Pub-y atmosphere. Really this place would be 5 stars if not for two small things: almost swallowed an olive pit from my avocado toast, my friend was given pancakes without maple syrup (the waiter came back and offered it though). I guess it was very very good but I wasn't blown away. The egg was cooked perfectly however.

Came here with a larger group, and they sat us in the back room which was more private. The service was very warm and friendly, and the vibes are memorable (lots of unique pig-themed decor). Alas, I wasn't a huge fan of the food. They have an expansive menu that runs the gamut from pub fare (fish and chips, sandwiches) to curry dishes to pizza. It was a little bit overwhelming to figure out what to get. I ended up going with the chicken pesto toastie (basically a panini). It was pretty heavy and came with a generous portion of chicken. I was disappointed because I ordered it to come with greens, but it came with fries instead. All in all a filling meal, but not much to write home about.

I recently visited The Squealing Pig and it's exactly the same as it was 12 years ago. Great location/atmosphere, decent and fairly priced menu, and friendly staff. I highly recommend The Pig Burger (simple yet filling) and the Left Hand Brewery Milk Stout. great combo at an awesome price. Very glad this establishment is still open especially after the past few years.

We stopped in for lunch and had the place more or less to ourselves. Prompt service. Great food. Nice atmosphere with classic rock music playing.

Fantastic pizza!!! They have a bunch of really interesting types of pizzas that seem to rotate seasonally. They had one with butternut squash that was to die for when I went. We got 3 pizzas for a table of 4 and split them all with about a half a pizza left over. The crowd fav was the squash one for sure. It's a small bar with good vibes. Really nice bar aesthetic that is easy to talk and hang out with people at. Nice draft selection as well. Will def be back for their pizza.

Stopped in on a college visit for an appetizer and a cold beer! Super friendly wait staff! Ice cold beer and ended up ordering a pizza. The wood fired pizza was very good and quick! The crust on the pizza was fantastic! Great selection of local beers on tap!

A chill spot! We came in with a reservation for 8 on a Thursday evening. We had a few extra people join us, and the staff were very helpful to make it work and add chairs to our table. They ran out of first two choices for draught beers, which was a little disappointing. In terms of food, I got the sausage and pepper pizza and the chicken pesto toastie with fries. The pizza was great--good, chewy crust and hit the spot on a cold night. The toastie was also good; fries were just alright. Others at the table got the fried chicken sandwich, smoked salmon sandwich, leek and squash pizza, and Cobb salad. Portions were big, and everyone seemed happy with their dishes. They would not let us pay for our bills separately, which is totally understandable, since we were such a big group. Otherwise, the service was good, and the food came out quickly. Would definitely stop by again if I was in the area. Classic, chill bar atmosphere with above average food for a bar.

Pizza is cooked then fresh queso-fresco like mozzarella is placed on uncooked. Very strange. Curry fries were very tasty, but quickly became too soggy to eat. Very disappointing!

Fantastic food. Great beer selection. We will go back for more. But don't expect great services.

My son had taken me here for lunch and described the Squealing Pig as a hot spot by he and his colleagues. I so enjoy a good pizza with a twist and The Squealing Pig delivered. The Pig pizza is a winner in my eyes and mouth; fig jam drizzle and Gorgonzola cheese so creamy, add the crunch of the crust and your mouth will sing.

Food was good, service was good. Don't have any particular complaints, I enjoyed our visit. I just wasn't super impressed with the food. The environment here is cool too!

I got to try this place for Saturday lunch. It was easy to park on the street nearby. This place, however, is definitely not a place for lunch. The staff was super friendly, but the pizza dough was frozen (?) and the only option was a gluten free pizza dough. The pizza tasted great, but the fact that a regular pizza dough was not available for the weekend didn't make sense to me.

The food was good. Good portion sizes and lots of options, including vegetarian options. The prices were reasonable. Nothing that will blow you away but still some interesting and flavorful options (fig jam, truffle oil, caramelized onions, etc). 4 stars. Bumping this up to 5 stars because of the immaculate bathroom (including the foot pedal flush), the comfortable and ample seating (even for large groups), the mystery shots, the pub trivia, and the very nice service. Super close to the Isabella Gardner museum if you're looking for a brunch/lunch spot!

meh. Fish and chips were average but the fires were limp and cold. The "custom" tartar sauce was unpleasant. Disappointed overall. Service was awesome though. We made a reservation as advised but we were the only customers.

No wait staff. Waited 15 min without seeing anyone. Left. Do not recommend. Not a spot worth trying in Boston.

The food is good for the convenience. I truly believe it is a great spot for drinks though. The night before I went for food I got the No. 11 lemonade (I believe that was the name) and it was soooo good. As for the food, if you're coming here get the fries and pizza. The grilled cheese was good but it wasn't great. I did love the fig jam inside but they didn't put enough of it! Overall, this place is fun to go to if you're in the area but otherwise I would recommend other brunch places. main point: just get the pizza

A friend and I stumbled upon this place when I was STARVING at 11 am for some brunch action. We almost missed the restaurant because it sat at a corner of a street in the middle of the Longwood residential area. Upon entering, the restaurant gave off a quirky vibe that lives up to its bizarre name. There was almost no one at the place except for the server and a family sitting at the table next to us. The brunch menu had a lot of choices. I went with the Irish farmhouse which offered eggs, sausages, bread, and potatoes. I mean, what more do you need for a hungry gal to start the day with? The dish had an appealing, delightful look (see picture) which fueled my devouring of the full plate in 10 minutes. It was one of the best brunches I've ever had, absolutely delicious. It was healthy, refreshing, and fulfilling at the same time. The meat looked amazing and tasted even better. The sausages and rasher breathed life into the dish. They were not oily and melted right in my mouth. My eggs were perfectly cooked in over-easy style. The whole dish was a bliss! Now, since I went to the place in the morning for a quick brunch fix, I wouldn't know anything about it as a neighborhood bar. But 5/5 for a stellar brunch that I desperately needed. The only con was that it took a long time for the food to arrive, but it is understandable since the bar was understaffed with only 1 server working at the time. Tip: Brunch is only served on the weekends from 10 am to 3 pm. Brunch menu offers more options than the usual breakfast menu during weekdays.

Having been here three times now I can confidently say it is underwhelming to say the last. The decor is fine. Service ok - friendly but forgets waters and messes up orders. Food is just not good. First time I had their shepherd's pie, second time their fig/prosciutto sandwich, third time their Cuban with curry fries. The first two were edible but nothing to go back for, and the Cuban was just bad. Underseasoned, and the meat tasted/smelled stale. It was exactly like when salami gets too old and the fats inside get too oxidized and smell/taste funny. The fries with the curry was very aromatic but flavor bland. Others at the table seemed to enjoy their fish and chips. For reference a British friend described it as "it's not really fish and chips but it's good". So maybe get that. But otherwise I wouldn't go back.

Super fun trivia night on Wednesday's! The food is okay, nothing to rave about. The brick oven pizzas are the best on the menu. Great music and ambience!

Like a 3.5 stars. Came here for brunch when everyone was super hungry. It's a decent spot if you're in the area and don't want to wait for Milkweed a few blocks away. The brunch menu is overall just pretty okay. Plates range from $9 to $16 and contain items like breakfast sandwiches, pork hash, egg and sausage plates. You know, your basic breakfast food. Nothing fancy or special. I personally got the pork hash with toast/eggs. It was pretty filling, and tasted great! But again, nothing extraordinary. I must say that the Wake up Call drink was really tasty and affordable. I don't think I'd come back for brunch, but they do have free oysters on Tuesdays that sounds intriguing.

Meh. We ordered the margherita and the the pig pizza. The pig was good margherita was soggy in the middle not a lot of flavor. The pig pizza was very good.

Great brunch! I had an Irish Farmhouse breakfast which has all the meats plus blood sausage! Delicious!

If you need a release, come to The Pig on a Thursday night. Grab a big wooden table with your buds. Order a drink. And once the musician starts playing, bang on the tables with all your might to accompany his guitar playing and folky singing. The atmosphere is great. Comfy bar stools, dim lighting, and a long bar. They have a great selection on draft and in bottles. Ask for a menu and scope out your options. I ordered a Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer which I'd never tried before and now wish more bars would offer. It's delish. Why is this not a thing, people? Disclaimer: Thursdays at The Pig are not for the faint of heart. The guys sings both covers and weird, comical originals. Some of the songs (especially during the first set) can get pretty raunchy. So be prepared and choose your drinking partners wisely. There's an awesome community feel since many patrons know the lyrics so can sing (and table bang) along. Meet the musician before and you might even get a shout-out during his performance like I did. It's probably a good thing this bar isn't close to my house because I'd surely be a Thursday night, table-banging regular.

Pros: Decent atmosphere, clean restrooms, good beer selections, interesting menu items, good service, reasonably priced........and some REALLY good curry. Cons: DO NOT USE THE YELP DIRECTIONS TO THIS PLACE, it takes you two blocks away!

Good beer, good food, good service. Still one of the best fish'n'chips in town, decent burger, and a great Irish Breakfast. They're also now open at 7am for breakfast, probably the best choice in Mission Hill for breakfast. They've recently remodeled which didn't drastically change the place, but main the doorway and the seating more efficient and allows more light in. The owners are from Derry in Ireland hence the large painting of Seamus Heaney behind the bar.

Found on a Google search for places to eat as we are not locals. The name made it a must visit as I have a pet pig (Hamilton Von Wigglesworth III). Came for lunch on St Patrick's day. The sandwiches were delicious, the bread was fantastic!!! The staff was very attentive even as dining rooms filled to almost capacity while we dined. Everyone smiled and greeted up. Portions are very filling and more than enough.

Service was terrible, food was mediocre at best and a 20% gratuity was added automatically for a group on 5 adults and 1 child but that policy was not written anywhere. We would have tipped 20% anyway because we aren't monsters but the service did not warrant a 20% tip and gratuity policies should be posted. Examples of bad service we experienced, waited 15 minutes for waters, then 2 came, waited 10 minutes for the rest of the waters, waited 20 minutes for drinks from the bar and had to go find the server to get out check and then find them again to run the cards when the place was empty. The one in Ptown is amazing and this one is a bad representation of the restaurant group.

A group of us went on Saturday. We appreciated the option of ordering from the brunch menu, or waiting for 20 minutes and ordering from the lunch menu. The food was great, 4 stars. The service was good. They were prompt and kept our water filled. When we arrived, we were happy they had the AC on. However, half way through our meal, it was shut off and they turned on the ceiling fans. This made things very uncomfortable, especially when it was 97 degree outside (heat index of 104).

If you're in the Longwood area, you might miss this place. It's a small restaurant that's tucked away at the corner of Brigham Circle station. When I saw the name of the restaurant, I thought there would be a lot of pork dishes....but that wasn't the case. The menu offers an array of typical selections you would get at a typical pub (seafood, salad, flatbread, burgers, etc). I decided to order the crispy calamari and flatbread topped with prosciutto, fig jam, and gorgonzola. The crispy calamari was very bland (no seasoning at all) and the accompanying sauce tasted like diluted ketchup with a hint of sriracha (not good). I had way better calamari (at the same price range as Squealing Pig) elsewhere. The flatbread was decent but not spectacular. Flavor-wise, I like the subtle sweetness that the fig jam gives and the saltiness from the gorgonzola and prosciutto. The execution needs more work: I struggled with eating the flatbread because the prosciutto laid as sheets (see attached picture). So when I take a bite, the entire sheet of prosciutto would come off the slice of pizza. I decided to remove the prosciutto and set it aside on my plate to eat later. I would suggest cutting the prosciutto into smaller pieces and sprinkling it over the flatbread to make it easier for the consumer. The wood table I was seated was not flat. So, my plates would lay at an angle and tilt back and forth as I try to eat my meal (So annoying!). Overall, it's a nice place if you want typical pub food but I would not come back here again.

I live like 3 second away so I decided to try it out. On the menu: LOBSTER ROLL! If you know me at all, and why the heck would you know me, you wouldn't but anyways: I'm a Lobster roll fanatic. What I do all summer is search for lobster roll ~ Anyways, so lucky for me we have this place just a stone throw away from where I live and they have lobster roll... seemingly year round? Sign me up: As a loner I ordered togo, and only had to wait around 10 minutes. For the price I was very excited when I also got some fries with it. Man, a huge lobster roll plus a slab of bacon... yummy. I actually prefer sans bacon, I'm a purist... But I did eat the bacon on its own, good salty bacon. So happy with my lobster roll, fresh tasting and just the right amount of seasoning. I LOVE LOVE those fries. Hot and crunchy. I dipped mine with Vinegar, Rhode Island style and they're perfect together. Coleslaw was ok, not a lot of flavor, but the lobster roll and fries really shine. Thank you for being so close to me ;) Will definitely try more things here in the future!

The Pig is tucked into a side street just East of Brigham Circle. The Pig will get your order wrong. They will swap your check with another member of your party. They will forget an entree and deny all claims of its request. Though plied with promises of handsome tippage they will take twenty minutes to bring drinks to an impromptu toast. They will be absolutely dead and ignore you or be madly packed and hover over you. They will, in short, be at odds with you. I haven't had a good experience here and I've only ever left mildly annoyed. That being said, the food is tolerable and the taps that aren't dry are decent. The waitstaff are not terribly helpful but they are well-meaning and the Squealing Pig is usually a sight cozier than the Mission down the street.

Nice bar, good food, great beer selection, slow service. I was amazed, after the waiter suggested bacon on the excellent hamburger, to find that meant exactly one single bacon strip on the large burger -- a bizarrely penny-pinching approach considering the prices. So, great beer selection, nice atmosphere, but the first restaurant I've encountered in my life that can't spare two strips of bacon for a bacon cheeseburger.

My professor took the class out for lunch and I came back again . That tells you their food is good. Servings are also pretty large for the prices they charge. I always get their fish and chips but their steak and burger are also a hit for many of my classmates. Only downside is that they get really full during lunch time

The Squealing Pig has becomie a local mainstay for us. The food is above-average fare (and deliciously executed) but what really sets them apart is the wonderful geniality provided by their staff. These are some extremely welcoming folks which makes a big difference in an urban setting. Living nearby I have choices for dinner and drinks in no short supply but the feel of stopping in to a place where you are greeted with smiles and heaps of welcoming cheer is really fantastic. Some favorite eats here have been veg curry with giant papadam, smoked fish chowder, steak tips, chili, BLT, fish & chips as well as ALL the Toasties (grilled sandwiches). They are open for breakfast m-f (perfect for early meetings!) and weekend brunch. Also... the Mars Bar Toastie for dessert is a singular delight. Paired with some craft cocktails you really can't go wrong at this little gem. The only thing I have found depressing is that there is no feta cheese to be had on that menu and well-cooked fries with delicious salty feta melting all over is one of my absolute faves!!! Great beer selection, decent food, and good atmosphere. It can be hard to get a seat during lunch or later happy hour but staff have generally been friendly and helpful to me on all my visits. Most food I've had has been a step above bar food. I would not, however, recommend the Mars bar toastie - they took four "Belgian" waffles (frozen ego waffles), put slices bananas and strawberries (1/2 banana, 1 - yes 1 - strawberry), and pieces of an Irish Mars bar (candy is the same internationally). I'm insulted that their description wasn't honest and that I had to pay for that. I almost gave them 2 stars upon reflection, but other than the eggos, I've been pretty satisfied.

Loved the Shepards pie and the fact that it was not crowed and overly loud. The bar staff were super nice. Great place to hang out and have a bite to eat. It was out of the way, living North of Boston but if I go to the MFA again I would definately make the trek again. The bartender's Irish accent was enough to make me want to return. I'm Irish, loved it!!!

The beer list...oh the beer list. You have your staples on tap, and you have your Pretty Things that rotates along with the Sam's Seasonal brew. No matter what you can't go wrong! Lots of great choices on tap and in a bottle. Now on to the food...I don't care what you get to eat as long as you get a side of the truffle fries. They are perfectly salty and tangy with the truffle oil and Parmesan cheese on top. You can smell them coming towards your table and your mouth will instantly begin to water!

Awful service at this location. I've been to this location and to the one in Back Bay several times, and have never had a problem (although the service has never been top-notch). Today, however, when the restaurant was only moderately full and the bar was almost empty, my friend and I had to practically light ourselves on fire to get the attention of the bartender who was serving us. I'm not sure if she was even cognizant of her own hostility, which began from the moment she laid eyes on us. There was not an ounce of courtesy or even a mild adherence to the social contract in our interaction with this bartender. Perhaps the staff at this location would benefit from some professional development. Plus, the fish and chips were horrendously bland. The chips were soggy.

Great bartenders, good food, and fun games. Drinks are strong and the trivia was an added bonus. Would highly recommend the PROSCIUTTO, FIG JAM AND GORGONZOLA, it was the perfect combo of salty and sweet. Food is fairly priced, but be careful on your bar tab... it can sneak up on you! Ps: Management, keep that side door closed! Boston's cold!

When we arrived at 5 pm the place was deserted. Not a great sign. We ordered beers and the wood fired pretzel. Small and underwhelming. We went elsewhere for dinner.

A solid bar, with a good beer selection. It can get a bit crowded, but if you come for dinner you can expect great service. My favorite part are there dinner and drink specials. You can get some great deals. Don't expect anything outstanding or gourmet, but they do what they are trying to do (pub and pub food) to exactly what you would expect in Boston, and even go a step further by offering a great deals. Worth a stop in the area... and i've even gone out of my way once in a while when a groupon for the place popped up.

Stopped in by chance, absolutely loved it! My wife and I shared a Margherita pizza and a kale and cauliflower Caesar. Great atmosphere, great food, and we happened in on trivia night, too, so great fun!

This is a nice spot. The food is pretty decent and they have a nice beer selection. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant and the service is friendly. It's also the only place I know of to get a mars bar toastie. Definitely give the place a try. I would however recommend trying to steer clear of the place on Thursday nights specifically... unless of course you like the whole 1930's-era German bierhaus vibe, in which case have at it.

I am working a couple of nights shifts as a contractor at a medical center in the neighborhood, so I was craving breakfast at 1pm on a Sunday. As usual, Yelp helped me find the Squealing Pig. The two young lady servers were friendly and gave me info on other restaurants in the neighborhood. The meal was a delightful heap of grilled breakfast meats, potatoes, and eggs. I did avoid the dark, crispy, chunk of blood sausage. All-in-all, it was a great breakfast at a good value. Being that it was a cold day, the room with the fireplace looked like a cozy setting to enjoy a late breakfast with a girlfriend.

This isn't gourmet fine-dining, but for what it is this is a five-star establishment. Beer menu was excellent, well priced (cheapest prices I've seen, for instance, for Lindeman's lambic, and they had the peche while most places only carry the framboise) with a good selection of belgians. Mmmm. Mine came out so cold, too, and they put it in the right glass. They cook the mussels in white wine which is just how I like em, and they offer multiple kinds of seasoned french fries. My brie and cranberry sandwich was a sandwich, not much to work with, but it was really really delicious and hit the spot, what can I say? It also came with potato salad on the side which was excellent, with what looked like actual mustard seeds on it. Service was fast and courteous. Atmosphere was, you know, pub-ish, but with a little more continental flare than your typical Boston Irish pub. Only complaint was that they brought my sandwich out several minutes before my friend's mussels which is bad form. Aside from that, nummy!

Great little place in Roxbury. Good selection of beer, knowledgable and friendly waitstaff, and great food selection. The burgers are amazing and perfectly cooked. Bun comes from a local bakery, and meat is seasoned well. Good ambiance and a lot of locals! Check it out.

This is where the pigs come home, honey. Grab some friends, seat yourself at one of the tables, and order up a drink from Jerry at the bar and you'll be all right. Hip music, small, cozy, yet still has a roomy feel to it, the fireplace adds a charm. Came here for a friend's 21st and I think it was okay. $8 for a shot of Hornits tequila, but the shots were bigger than your average 1.5oz glasses. The limes were tiny and I had to ask for salt. Long island iced tea for $12.50? It wasn't served in a highball but in a whisky glass, and in addition to the splash of coke was a splash of water... Large beer selection? Yes please. Rapscallion honey is mm mm good. The stouts for those coffee lovers out there, come and get 'em. Price for a beer, typical ~$7. Anyways, come here for the beer because you can't mess that up and for space to chill. Maybe I'll try the food some day if I'm in the area.

Fantastic! Stopped in here after checking out the Fine Art Museum. It's a short walk away. Fish 'n chips is awesome. Definitely fresh cod. Beer selection is impressive too. Check out the coffee house porter!
