Review of The St. Regis Istanbul
I recently stayed at The St. Regis Istanbul and would like to share a balanced perspective on my experience.
Service & Staff
The check-in experience was very pleasant — the front desk team was welcoming and friendly, which gave a great first impression. However, during the stay I noticed a lack of coordination among staff. While there were many employees present, they often seemed inattentive to guests, and at times service felt disorganized. Additionally, the butler service did not meet expectations; promises such as upgrades and perks were not honored, which was disappointing for a hotel of this level.
Value vs Price
Unfortunately, the overall value did not justify the price. The experience leaned more towards a mid-range hotel, while being priced at a luxury level. For what is marketed as a five-star property, the service and facilities fell short.
Rooms & Facilities
The guest rooms showed signs of age, with outdated furniture that has not been renewed. This detracted from the luxury feel one would expect at a St. Regis. On a positive note, housekeeping and room cleaning were excellent throughout the stay, which I truly appreciated.
Brand Expectations
As part of the St. Regis and Marriott group, I had higher expectations. Unfortunately, I felt that guests — especially loyal or elite members — were not valued as they should be. It also seems there has been a decline in service levels over time, possibly due to management or staff changes.
Dining
I cannot provide a complete evaluation of the dining experience, as I was only on my second day at the hotel during this review.
Security & Maintenance
One issue that stood out was that the in-room safety box was not working upon check-in, which raised concerns about both maintenance and security.
Overall
The St. Regis Istanbul has potential, but it did not fully meet the standards of the brand in terms of service, value, and upkeep. While there were positives, such as the warm welcome at reception and excellent housekeeping, improvements are needed for this property to truly deliver a five-star luxury experience.
