First time here and decided to come here after my kiddos graduation from Boise State. The place gave me an old timey feel for a place back home in Montana when I was younger. We had to wait a little bit but only to be expected on A Saturday night. Also, if your full party is not there, then you don't get your table yet....deal with it. Once seated we were greeted right away by our server who took our drink order. Drinks came and then ordered the appetizer sampler plus added two more of the prawns to it. So good. Two of us had the larger prime rib. One with fries and the other with a loaded baked potato. The third had the prime rib dip. Also had the mushrooms for the prime rib. Man o man the food was wonderful, flavorful and super good. Someone from our server to whom I believe may have been one of the owners was always checking in with us. Great experience and if back in the Boise area we will be back.

This place is iconic and has been around forever, probably looking much the same as when it originally opened. The staff is average. The clam chowder, believe it or not, was actually really good, one wouldn’t expect solid clam chowder so far from the ocean. The shrimp, however, is what you’d expect from something so far from the ocean: gross and very expensive. Not to mention, it was raw. Yep, raw, they fry it like French fries and still sent it out RAW. The bread was okay, and the prime rib steak sandwich was average, the mashed potatoes were something that looked like they came from a hospital cafeteria, but were actually edible. Being generous with three stars, I have no clue how this place rates as high as it does.

To start out with the food was truly fabulous. My dad loves pan fried oysters, and they were his favorite so far anywhere. The blue cheese dressing was absolutely fabulous and made here. All of the food was wonderful. And we love the old time stagecoach atmosphere. Our server was extremely friendly and on top of it.

Google
Great place! Old fashioned steakhouse with a warm, fun vibe. Restaurant was super busy but our server, Jenna, was on her game, very sweet and service was impeccable. Our food was excellent. We all ended up sharing bites. Steaks and prawns were cooked to perfection, salad was crisp and fresh. Cocktails were outstanding. Will definitely be returning for another great dining experience.

Tucked away in the heart of Boise, ID, The Stagecoach Inn is more than just a place to eat—it's a journey through time, steeped in history and culinary excellence. As one of the city's oldest establishments, this restaurant has been serving patrons for decades, preserving its charm while offering some of the best steaks I've ever tasted. From the moment you walk through the doors, you're greeted with a warm, nostalgic ambiance that reflects the restaurant's storied past. The decor is a perfect blend of vintage elegance and comfort, with rich wooden furnishings, antique light fixtures, and walls adorned with photographs and memorabilia that tell the story of the restaurant's heritage. It's the kind of place where every corner whispers tales of the past, making it as much a museum as it is a dining venue. But the true star of this restaurant is undoubtedly the steak. Cooked to perfection, each bite melts in your mouth, bursting with flavor that can only come from top-quality cuts of meat expertly prepared by chefs who know their craft. Whether you prefer your steak rare or well-done, they get it just right every time, with a sear that locks in the juices and a seasoning that enhances the meat without overpowering it. It's no wonder this place has earned a reputation for serving the best steak in town. Adding to the experience is the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. From the moment you're seated, you're made to feel like a valued guest. The servers are knowledgeable, eager to recommend the best dishes, and genuinely invested in ensuring you have an unforgettable dining experience. Their warmth and professionalism are the perfect complement to the restaurant's historic charm. In summary, Stagecoach Inn is more than just a restaurant—it's a culinary institution. With its impeccable steaks, inviting atmosphere, and stellar service, it's a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in a bit of history and a lot of flavor. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make sure to add this gem to your list of dining destinations.

I’ve always enjoyed “The Coach” but my experience tonight was the best. Josh made the best chocolatini I’ve ever had. Now it ranks at my number 1

Google
A staple in the Boise restaurant scene. This place has been good and consistent for decades. Cocktails are top notch. Wine list is nice. Very vibey atmosphere, it’s always dimly lit inside. Food is great - love the bread, salad and pan fried oysters. Service is always great - staff is so friendly and helpful. Definitely add this to your list if you haven’t been here yet.

I can’t say enough good things about Tina at the Stagecoach! She is an outstanding waitress who always goes above and beyond to make our experience memorable. The food is simply amazing and seems to get better every time we visit. We’ve never had a bad meal here! The prawns are hands down the best in town, and the porterhouse and lobster are absolutely 10 stars on their own. The quality and flavor are exceptional, and the service is always top-notch. If you’re looking for a fantastic dining experience, don’t miss out on the Stagecoach. With Tina’s great service and their incredible menu, you’ll leave happy every time! Highly recommend!

Yelp
There's a reason that this place is such a classic. This rustic restaurant is everything you would want for a prime rib house. Portions are enormous, staff is attentive and the food service was very quick.

Yelp
The service is fantastic! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is nostalgic! I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Boise, Idaho.

Yelp
I remember really liking this place, but something changed...Probably me, since this is an institution. Ambiance is definitely that old-style steak house. Dark. Leather. Wood. Should be no surprise here. My issue is that the tables are really close together, resulting in a pretty loud environment. Steaks were ok, but we went there for prime rib. Were there fairly early, around 6pm, and were told that all the prime rib was cooked at least to medium. Ok, points for telling us, but still, how does that occur at a steak house. Note, steaks were better than say Texas Roadhouse, but not nearly as good as I remember. Drinks were good. Service good. Overall experience good. Another Boise institution that just can't compete with the new restaurants. It is fine, but there are just much better choices.

Yelp
I heard about The Stagecoach Inn from a guest on the Joe Rogan podcast. The guest (MB) had glowing reviews of this place. I've driven by it on numerous occasions and never thought to stop by. Frankly, the building looks every bit of its 60+ years of existence. But don't let the looks fool you. This restaurant has tons of character and I regret judging this book by its delicious cover. There is ample parking in front and around the back. We were promptly seated by the host even though the restaurant was packed. My wife's meal, the Shrimpkin (broasted chicken and shrimp), came with two hot sourdough rolls and a salad. I couldn't help myself and snagged a roll. YUM! I had the Prime Rib dip, onion rings, and two pieces of their gigantic shrimp on the side. Trust me, you want at least two pieces of shrimp. They come with cocktail and tartar sauce. I inhaled them pretty quickly so you don't get a picture. We topped it off with a lemon cream pie and a banana cream pie. I'm stuffed!

Yelp
My first time in was yesterday and I must say that while it's spendy, i really enjoyed my experience here. I had a nice long lunch break and Stage Coach is only about 10 min away from my current workplace. I've been hearing about them on the radio lately and it sounds like a place that's been around a long time and has a big following with the locals so decided to check it out. I really love the upscale western esthetic of the restaurant. It was pretty busy but they managed to seat me quick. Looking over the menu, they have several options that caught my eye... some that definitely weren't in my lunch time price range but I'd still love to come back and try at some point. The lamb for instance, sounds to die for! I went simpler and healthier and got the low cal plate which is your choice of a hamburger patty or chicken with cottage cheese and your choice of tomato slices or fruit. All of that sounded great.. I chose to do the hamburger patty this time and told the waitress I want the cottage cheese, tomato slices and a side of the fruit as well.. also a side of veggies to really get my snack on. Everything looked appetizing, tasted fresh and great ! The veggies definitely had some kind of oil or butter on them that I wasn't expecting and probably would have skipped if I'd known that's how they serve them but I still ate almost all of them. All I had left at the end was a small piece or two of the cauliflower but everything else was ate. My waitress was a sweetheart! I believe her name was Nicole, and she took great care of me , bringing me lemon for my water and hot tea, which I decided to get cause I was feeling cold. This was a very nice option for my lunch and I'll definitely come back. Next time I'll likely do the same thing but chicken instead of the hamburger. I'm really glad they have this as a lighter option as I am currently having issues with liver damage and need to eat healthier to reverse the damage to my liver which isn't always easy to do but this helped me stay on track with that and was also very filling!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this restaurant. The drinks were strong and the food was bomb. Reminds me of going to Northwoods Inn as a young child with my grandparents. Has that rustic vibe that is unparalleled in the Valley.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised with the Stagecoach Inn when we went for dinner a few weeks back. Our sever was great and very attentive- drinks, good, etc came out on time. And the drinks and food were also good. I had a Ribeye and Baked potato, and it was cooked and seasoned very well. The Lemon Cream pie was a little too "whipped creamy" but the chocolate cream was great. This is a cool place For dinner, if you haven't tried it yet you should!
google avatar

Tim O.

Yelp
This place is iconic! The service is great and they really care about your experience. I asked the server to recommend something and he said the prime rib is real deal. I trusted him because he worked there for so long and he was right! The prime rib was a generous cut and it melted in my mouth! I thought there was no way I could finish that slab but to my surprise, I ate it all! You must come here and try the prime rib. It is world class! The whole vibe was fun and people truly love this place. You will too! You are welcome!

Yelp
Stagecoach Inn is a Boise institution. You know you're somewhere special when you walk in to a steakhouse with the same dark wood and curved seats they've had for decades. It tells you it's about the food and the experience, not modernizing to attract fickle trend chasers. The menu is straight out of an Americana playbook. Want a side of prawns? Sure! Dutch apple pie a la mode? Yep. My go to is the prime rib French dip for lunch. Simple and juicy with a side of horseradish. For dinner, I get the beef tips. I even adore the side salads served in wooden bowls. Last time I was in I tried the banana cream pie. Haven't had a better version in a long while. If you're looking for classic American fare this is the place. The price point ain't cheap and you'll be fighting for a table around the holidays, but service is good and straightforward. Highly recommended.

Yelp
An Idaho staple!! I love how long this place has been around and how old school it feels. The service is always amazing and the food is top tier!

Mick F.

Yelp
Great will be back really enjoyed ourselves. Old time vibes and service. Great steak and prime rib. Try the pie
google avatar

Katie D.

Yelp
We were in town visiting family and this is their weekly spot. We were not disappointed! We started with the holiday cocktails and martinis, warm bread and butter, the jumbo prawns are a MUST as an appetizer or even a meal. So buttery and delicious. The ribeye steak was cooked perfectly and we finished with banana cream pie. The food was amazing, staff was kind and welcoming and the ambiance of the rustic Idaho feel made it feel like an experience. A must visit!

Yelp
A never fail place to enjoy great food and service. My wife and I have been enjoying this land mark restaurant for over 40 years and never had a bad experience. Great food, service and cocktails Treet yourself and give it a try.

George H.

Yelp
I normally do not write reviews due to circumstances that aren't normal, but this time it needs to be said. Reading other reviews, it appears to be a trend. I had planned on arriving to a concert event in a nearby business and then to enjoy dinner at the Stagecoach Inn afterwards as it was recommended by others. I parked in a dirt lot between the two businesses I was working with and saw signs of unauthorized parking but no business to attach to that. Turns out, it was for Stagecoach Inn, and they apparently don't like when people park in a dirt lot. They had booted my car. $200 later, I was on my way. At least the tow company was quick and easy to work with. It appears that several people have commented about this. Kind of wish I did my research about this location, but recommendations were good, so I didn't. Needless to say, I don't intend to go anywhere near this business again. Word of advice to the businesses in that area as well as Stagecoach Inn: Work together to figure out parking situations for events so you can keep your clients instead of losing them. I feel that is not a good way to attract business.

Tyler T.

Yelp
Parking Lot Scam If you like a dirty restaurant with bad food this is your place! Also parking in their lot- even if eating there, you will be booted and forced to pay $200 dollars. The owner can't make any money so they're running a booting business out of the back. Probably the worst experience I've ever had.
google avatar

Marc M.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant! Such a great meal! I have been coming here for 45 years...they always treated my dad well! Love continuing to come!
google avatar

Tess G.

Yelp
I've always loved Stagecoach and was actually aware of the parking rules. I recently stopped to say hello to a friend at split rail winery across the street and thought I was parking on the street on 32nd. 30 minutes later I returned to a boot on my car and a $200 fee. I understand that the parking lot should be for customers, but I genuinely thought I was parked on the street legally. It is not clearly defined where the lot ends and the street begins. Also, putting a boot on a car doesn't free up parking space for customers, it just makes the parking space remain unavailable for longer. It's truly unfortunate because all it's doing is making people angry. Stagecoach lost me as a customer due to this shady scheme so I hope them losing customers is worth the $200 they take from them.

Yelp
Everything was outstanding. Of course we had to wait, it was Saturday night, but totally worth it. We started with shrimp cocktail and halibut chunks. The shrimp cocktail featured fresh horseradish-wow. Dinner salad was simple but the house ranch and Roquefort were fabulous. And the lettuce was actually in smaller pieces that you rarely get - much easier to enjoy. My partner had prime rib, I had filet mignon and both were perfectly cooked, rare and medium rare. A fluffy loaded baked potato rounded out the meal. I enjoyed a Malbec. Service was good, everyone we interacted with was friendly. One of the best meals we've had in a very long time!
google avatar

Gary C.

Yelp
Food was very good. We had the fish & chips, very healthy portions. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Good basic food. Good Bar too. My family always has a positive experience here. We've been coming here for years and it's been consistently good. Old school red vinyl booths, very personable and friendly staff. Good steaks!
google avatar

Tom G.

Yelp
Had dinner about a week ago and such an odd experience. (For Stagecoach) Been eating here for years but this time there was No wait, it was 6:15 and only 50% full! For Stagecoach this is odd. Always a wait at dinner time. First thing that I found was the servers all looked new. Did not recognize any of the ones that had been here for years. Then the service was terrible. It was extremely slow, no follow up and lack of any personality. The food I thought was the same. Did a good job on the PrimeRib but getting bread was a crazy challenge. Have not heard of new owners but something is off! Hope they get this figured out as this has been a local favorite since it opened. I'll go back in a month or so and hope to update this review.

Cindy S.

Yelp
My husband was very sick three hours after he had the halibut chunks. They looked delicious, but didn't taste so good the second time around. :(. Severe stomach cramps too. We were recommended this restaurant, but would not go back again.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
I have been here several times and always had a great experience. The food is good (a bit pricey) and the service has always been excellent! My husband enjoys the steaks and I love the chicken and Reuben. Cocktails are also delicious and they don't skimp on the alcohol. Our server last night had someone with a medical issue at one of her tables. It put her just a bit behind with us (we didn't mind) and she was incredibly generous about it - even gave us a free piece of pie. This is my favorite place for celebrating a birthday or other special occasion!

Gina P.

Yelp
The food is always amazing!!! Great atmosphere and Bruna is the best server, so personable. Definitely worth going to this restaurant
google avatar

Todd L.

Yelp
Overall review is 'meh. Between moderate service and food that lacked seasoning, I was not impressed with Stagecoach. We tried the local favorite by thousands in the treasure valley for dinner with some friends. For years, I have heard how great the Stagecoach is along with tons of positive reviews here on Yelp. We arrived, and the restaurant had a small wait, so we grabbed a drink in the bar. The bar staff were nice and the drinks were quick. Seating in the restaurant for the six of us was tight......but looking at all the other full tables...tight was the approach they took that night. *Note.. expect tight quarters possibly* The restaurant is dated and has seen a lot of activity. The place was clean and the furniture was rustic. Our server was a bit cold. It seemed as if we were an inconvenience to her...as if she knew it was our pleasure to be there.. was odd. I felt she could have been more welcoming. Oh, well. For dinner, I went with Top Sirloin with a side salad and rice pilaf. Sad to say, but the salad and bread were my favorite parts of the meal. The rice pilaf was simple....a bit too simple. Lacked in flavor, ....just like the steak. The top sirloin was delivered very warm which was great. Unfortunately, the steak was not seasoned, in my opinion. Properly cooked to order, but blah flavor. Like the rice, they kept the food simple (as the picture depicts). I would choose other steak houses in the valley before Stagecoach...but I am in the minority for sure as my friends love the Stagecoach along with thousands more in the valley. Cheers Always!
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
The prime rib was good!! Spot on. Our server was amazing. Attentive and loved her quick wit. Her name was Bruna. Old school vibes, good drinks, fun times. It is what it claims to be.

Grant O.

Yelp
Beware of parking in this restaurants parking lot. I was dining here with family and had a boot placed onto my car demanding a $200 fee to have it removed.
google avatar

Tony M.

Yelp
Best hidden restaurant for steak and prime rib. Don't let the exterior fool you! Quality meats. So tender and cooked over a flaming grill!

J G.

Yelp
Medicore. Very disappointed. Our meal was barely OK but came with a huge price tag. I doubt the food was freshly cooked. It tasted reheated at best. The baked potato seemed like it had been cooked days before and was warmed up in the oven for hours and hours. The salad was a handful of iceberg lettuce with a few croutons on top and a blop of dressing. I don't mind paying for a great meal, but a $40+ steak better be top notch. This wasn't. Service was just OK. Ambiance is old school.
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
This place is a national treasure. Stiff/tasty drinks, delicious steaks, great ambiance, and the service was fast. The parking lot looked packed but don't let that fool you. They sat us quick and immediately greeted us. I'll be coming here for years to come.

Mike B.

Yelp
I stopped in for a beer after work and was impressed by their beer selection, along with a full bar! Though I hadn't planned on dining, the irresistible aroma of the food quickly changed my mind. If you appreciate halibut as much as I do, this is undoubtedly the place to be--the quality and flavor are simply unmatched. A truly enjoyable experience.

Preston A.

Yelp
The food and service provided at this restaurant is excellent and I would recommend anyone to go there for a good meal. Not to mention the calming and warm inviting environment they offer.
google avatar

Melanie V.

Yelp
This place is the bomb. First time there and can't say enough about the service staff to the cook and the quality of their food! We enjoyed the bar prawns as an appetizer followed by a prime rib dinner for the hubby and the Halibut chunk bites that were huge and tasty! We had a glass of wine and shared a coconut cream pie slice to end the meal. We will definitely go back so much more to try. I would have given this establishment a 5 but the ventilation in this very old place wast not ideal. My eyes were hurting a bit from the lack of airflow. Would love to see an outside patio area . Again the staff is amazing and they have it down to a tee!

Kelley R.

Yelp
Be prepared to get a boot on your vehicle and have to pay $200 to get it off. They have cameras and watch you. It's a racket they have going. I guess they feel the need to do this since the food is overpriced and incredibly underwhelming. It used to be a great restaurant, but the new owners have taken greed to a whole new level. After being a patron for over 30 years, I will never, ever go again. Shame on you and your greed. (I wish you could give negative stars)

Jeff H.

Yelp
I only wish I would have had the manager come to our table to have a taste of the prawns that were served to my wife. They were horrible!!! This was Thursday late afternoon, 9/11/24. Halibut was nice but everything over priced for the quality of food we got. Our 3rd trip there (first was good, 2nd so-so), so we probably won't return. Service was outstanding!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
This old-school Boise landmark earns deserved high ratings. In a day when excellent servers are increasingly scarce, the Stagecoach team is first class and they are standouts. You may feel you have been transported to a prior decade when life was uncomplicated (really?) and the worry was whether the Yanks would win another pennant or whether Deano and Jerry's split up was a forever thing. But I digress. This is one of the few places serving broasted chicken (excellent ) and their daily specials cannot be beat, particularly the Thursday liver and onions and homemade mashed potatoes. Prices have understandably gone up but it's worth it. Places like the Stagecoach, while in a time warp of sorts, never go out of style. A+.

Yelp
Me and a few buddies decided we'd treat ourselves to this place Saturday night. I can't begin to explain how good the service and food are. The servers treated us very well, brought us extra rolls, and was very fast. We are younger and figured we'd be snubbed off as just some kids, but we were wrong as all employees were very nice to us. Food was cooked exactly how we wanted, and dressing for the salad was superb. Love the dark feel of the interior. One of the best restaurants in the Boise area for sure, will be back soon!
google avatar

Hmmmmm O.

Yelp
Huge onion rings and pricey prawns but they are good. Crab Louie?meh. Kinda like what you'd get at dennys with packaged shredded cheddar cheese (! WTH) , iceberg, two slices of tomato, a cup of crab, and lemon wedge. No hard boiled egg slices or tangy dressing. The dressing was bad. Just like Mayo. I scraped off the crab to take it home for crab cakes and just had a plain salad with lemon and mixed a bit of the Mayo stuff. We were in the back next to the kitchen. Worst seating visually next to the kitchen, so try to avoid that. Rolls are good. Prime rib looked pretty fatty and well done was rare. Service is nice, but I don't plan on going back for what they charge.
google avatar

Jacob R.

Yelp
Service was incredible! Carli took such good care of my wife and I. She recommended the ribeye and prawns, which I really enjoyed and my wife really loved her recommendation on the prickly pear lemon drop. The ambience in the restaurant was great and I couldn't have asked for a better date night. We will be back for sure!

John S.

Yelp
Food was awesome, service was excellent,. If you like good steaks and fish and shrimp prime rib this is the place to go and come here for years.

Bert A.

Yelp
The service here is wonderful. The staff is just absolutely responsive and it's fun to eat at the stagecoach.
google avatar

Bridget C.

Yelp
The food was amazing.the service was top notch. I would recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is a little dark but comfortable.

Sally H.

Yelp
We gathered for a birthday celebration. Most of those included in the party had not been to the Stagecoach. They were more than a little surprised at the excellent food, wonderful service and the fact you could actually carry on a conversation without shouting even though the place was filled. The minute the staff saw me bring in the cake they supplied the plates, forks and a serving utensil. Best service EVER.
google avatar

Natalie R.

Yelp
Once again a 5-star experience. This place is like a time machine - or trip into an old mob movie. Dark moody lighting, lots of wood and deep red booths to sink into. Clearly a regular's spot as we observed servers calling out to patrons by name. Generous sized cocktails. The meal is more than anyone can (or should) finish in one sitting. Except for my teenage son - who then offered to help me! Prime rib was tender, flavorful and rich. Fried shrimps were large, hot and crispy. Baked potatoes were truly loaded, fresh and steaming hot!
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
I recently was taken to the stagecoach. Atmosphere, service and swanky old school vibe are great. That's where I divert. I ordered the Friday special. Fish and chips. By far the weakest most expensive fish and chips I've ever been served. My lunch bill for fish and chips and an ice tea was north of $35. There was no price on the menu for the special. That should have been my sign.
google avatar

Sean B.

Yelp
Tried on Saturday and we were blown away! Old school steakhouse with rustic ambiance, great service. This will be our guys night out spot.
google avatar

Anastazia V.

Yelp
Came here for lunch as a party of 4 - it was busy but we were seated right away. We ordered a couple drinks and they were good and strong. 2 people had the chicken cordon bleu sandwich, 1 French dip and 1 bacon burger. The onion rings are delicious! No complaints about the meal or service. I want to come back and try the dinner menu!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, apparently they forgot to serve me the magic Kool-Aid that makes people like this place. It's just Denny's with an appalling price tag. The semi-open kitchen means you get the pleasure of being basically deep fried in your seat (who doesn't love smelling like carnival food for the next week?) Their house salad is bagged lettuce paired with standard food service dressing and tasteful bagged croutons. The "ribeye" steak is actually some kind of mystery cut. To their credit the chicken wasn't raw, just pallid and flavorless. Hospitals and nursing homes have better food. I will say that the service was quite attentive and friendly. Though I'd be friendly too if I was making tips off prices that obscene.
