As a parent of a resident, I'd caution anyone looking at this property due to the high concentration of homeless. The proximity to the Beer Depot and gas station across the street are contributing factors. In addition, there's concentration across Packard given a community services facility. I've personally been accosted in the alleyway behind the building, moving our kid in. The homeless congregate, deal and consume drugs in alcoves of the building, and management has chosen to take no responsibility. A simple security guard would make a considerable difference. Buyer beware.

The community manager, Cassie, has taken real ownership of her role. Anything I have needed to call the property, either here or one of the team member have always been warm and attentive. It not often seen to have such a level care in this day and age, but The Standard at Ann Arbor brings it every time. I appreciate you guys ✨

Recent updates and changes have made this facility a new favorite. Leasing team was very helpful and quick to work with. When asked about the amenities, updates and changes have been made and are all functional and clean. The maintenance team was pleasant to work with. Overall I'm highly satisfied with living here!

The amenities at The Standard are incredible!! They have a pool, a HUGE outside television (similar size to a Jumbotron) and lots of space for studying available to residents. The new staff there are also super helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an apartment in Ann Arbor!

THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY!!!!!!! Please read this if you’re planning to live in this building. I fell for the trap! They will take your deposit and NEVER return it back coming up with flimsy excuses. They are SCAMMERS. And I’m not even mentioning that they don’t a lobby, working elevators, or a working jacuzzi at all. They are SCAMMING YOU! DO NOT LIVE HERE.

Living at The Standard as a subletter was a huge disappointment. From the start, the move-in process was a nightmare—there were little to no bins or carts available to help with moving, which made things extremely stressful. Once inside, I quickly realized that most of the amenities are either closed, dirty, or barely functioning, despite what management advertises. The elevators constantly break down, and the building often schedules unnecessary maintenance checks where staff just let themselves into your apartment with zero warning. On top of that, many of the maintenance workers are rude and unhelpful, which just adds to the frustration. The leasing office is almost never open, and trying to get help from anyone is next to impossible. If you lose your phone or it dies, good luck getting home—you need an electronic key to scan into every part of the building. This becomes a serious safety and accessibility issue. The location is also concerning, with a high presence of aggressive and unstable homeless individuals right outside the building. There’s zero real security presence, and management does nothing to protect residents. Because of this, you can’t safely order Doordash or receive packages—they often get stolen or tampered with. And let’s talk about cost: you’ll get charged for just existing in this place. It’s extremely overpriced for what you get, and they’ll find any reason to tack on more fees. Overall: Do not live here if you value your peace, safety, money, or time. The Standard is all hype with none of the follow-through. Subletting here was one of the worst housing decisions I’ve made.

I have lived here for a year, and I haven’t parked at the standard regularly, there is a back lot here, and I parked my car here on move out day, so I can move all my stuff out( it’s move out day again) they called the tow truck company on my car and had it TOWED on move out day. Great hospitality by the standard! I do not recommend living here.

Yelp
Never live here under any circumstances. I was a tenant for the 2023-2024 academic semester. The space for what you get is really poor, they hardly do any work requests, and the trash shoots are constantly filled with trash. Also, the fire alarms constantly go off in the middle of the night, the power went out multiple occasions. The place is run by undergrads who look to fine you at every turn on top of the exorbitant lease charge they lock you into. I was fined without warning for leaving shoes outside of my apartment. I was fined for minor cleaning charges after my lease was up and had to forfit the entire security deposit. Terrible mangement and terrible people own and run this place. Do not be fooled by their marketing, they do not care and will treat you like a cash cow to be endlessly fined.

Yelp
I will try to keep this short and simple. Do not live here. It is a complete ripoff and they even charged me an entire month while they were under construction. Meaning this place misled me into spending an extra $1800 for nothing. All of the other 1 star reviews are completely accurate and almost all of the 5 star reviews are totally inaccurate. The reality of living here is that this is a blatant cash grab with no real care for the tenants and their wellbeing. For example, there was a criminal incident in which I was randomly placed with a psychotic roommate who physically broke in my room at 3am hoping I was inside sleeping (all of which was admitted by the criminal) and The Standard's response was to basically ignore this issue until it went away just like everything else that goes on in the building such as the build up of trash that reaches the hallways. It's been months and my door still has not been fixed and the blood in his bathroom has not been cleaned. In fact, I had to clean the debris cause from this break in and there are still large pieces of the broken door in my closet. To make things even worse I was charged $512 in utilities BECAUSE he was evicted and I know this because I had an email saying there were "adjustments made due to this criminal being moved out" in order to reduce this cost I should turn the fan on instead of the AC and lower my thermostat by 1 degree in FEBRUARY. Keep in mind his room is been not only empty but avoided for months. So I had to pay for being a victim of a felony. When I tried to end my contract early I was told that I would receive a message to go into further detail and guess what, I was ignored once again. This place cares about one thing only, milking you for as much money as they can, even when it comes to your safety.

Yelp
Do not live here. This building has been a mess since move in and it's only getting worse. There have been burst pipes on multiple floors causing the gym and other amenities to close -- with no compensation, sorry or alternative offered to the residents. Residents were just given an email saying that the pipes burst with no specfic information as to what area and with staff on break so no answers were given. People's apartments and items were destroyed. What new building has pipes burst? One that was made cheaply and without research into the area it's being built. There's no 24 hr accessabilty to anyone from the building. What luxury apartment doesn't have someone at the front desk? The building is only accessible by phone -- one time my phone died and I had to wait outside in the hallway for 30 minutes until a stranger let me borrow their phone. The hot tub is closed with no warning. Maintance requests go unfufilled and then we get an email that they're done when no one ever showed up. The shower is never warm and I have a sports injury and hot showers were my only safe haven -- the issues with the shower have seriously contributed to my pain. The dish washer was never properly installed. Racks weren't put up in closets. My walk in only has one rack when all advertisements showed two. LIVE ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!!
