LA Slice Kings Prime Pizza Expand Again, This Time to Santa Monica | Eater LA

"I learned Downtown LA’s Standard Hotel will not reopen; the company announced the formal closure one year to the day after the decades-old Sunset Strip location closed, and neither location reopened after initially shutting at the start of the pandemic in March 2020." - Farley Elliott

Trendy, hipsteresque. The glass walled showers in my room with a buddy was a little creepy though. Had to put up some prints/posters to get a little privacy. Nice selection of daily shampoos and conditioners. One "tuck", one "no tuck". The pool and films upstairs were a nice vibe.

The rooftop bar had really nice views of downtown, and the staff were very friendly. Even while shuffling us out at 2:00am, they let us hang out in the comfy chairs while we waited for the elevator to take everyone else down. It didn't delay the total time to get everyone out of the establishment for the night, but it made us feel like appreciated guests, and it was a nice touch to end a pleasant evening enjoying their tasty cocktails.

Fairly nice room, the check-in process is awful and I can tell it's not just a one off given the other reviews. Had our reservation cancelled and forced to re book another room. Not very helpful staff. There is also no privacy between the bathroom and the rest of the room, a giant glass panel stands between the shower and the other space, exposing the user fully. Not what is expected of a hotel at all! Rest of the hotel is lovely, very nice rooftop pool bar and the rooms are nice bar the bathroom area.

I ended up checking in to The Standard SUPER late. I had originally booked a large room but was pleasantly surprised to be told that I was upgraded to a 'Gigantic' for free! I was told that there are, "definitely some perks to checking-in a bit late sometimes!" My companion and I went to go check out our room, which was pretty cool. There isn't a door to the bathroom, but rather this VERY see-through curtain, nonetheless the room was nice and provided amenities were sleek and well presented. We then had Dinner at the hotel restaurant which was VERY dimly lit, but the service and food were pretty good. After eating, we proceeded to go and check out the infamous rooftop which was actually super cool! Nice view of the LA city and a very good ambience with the design choices, versatility, and drinks! The biggest pain-point in my opinion was parking. The hotel valet charged $40/night and there is a only one valet at a time in my experience, so in both cases I needed my car it took a little longer than I would have preferred. Otherwise a good stay overall, would recommend!

Very cool experience, nice room and unique vibe. Clean and comfortable. The glass enclosed shower visible to the rest of the room isn't for everyone, but it's a fun effect and experience. The rooftop pool party included with the stay was very unique and fun and offers amazing views both of the city and the stylish crowd staying there.

The Standard is a great spot to just chill and have a few drinks with friends. The music isn't the most ideal but I can see why they chose it. It fits the atmosphere of the lounge. There's lots of seating and they have a pool too. I had a great time and will go again. Went on a Sunday and there was no cover.

Staying at the standard was a satisfactory experience. I got the sense that security was a little uptight as they would block the doors and ask my room number, proof that I was holding a key card and my last name every time I tried to enter the elevators. I also wasn't allowed on the roof at certain times because I wasn't 21, which was a little disappointing, but I guess I can understand that. Something about the humidity levels in the room made the bed slightly wet. The bed was also extremely soft with barely any back support, but that wasn't an actual issue. Kudos to the people that thought of a transparent shower as a wall. Some people may dislike that but I thought it was fantastic. Unfortunately the fire alarm is right beside the shower and will get set off if you open the door. I had my fire alarm go off twice and opted for cold showers to reduce the steam levels. This felt like a three star experience to me. I have no complaints about the staff as everybody was doing their job, but I didn't feel like I got a fantastic experience out of my short stay at The Standard. The design of the building looks great and it has lots of potential, but I suggest getting security to calm down a little, being more exuberant and comfortable with the guests and making sure everybody has a great, relaxed time. Invite some excitement into your corporate culture and watch your reviews skyrocket. People don't book a hotel in downtown LA with a rooftop terrace to have a Mr. Rogers experience.

My mum and I just stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel staff are very friendly, the rooms are very clean, we had 2 double beds in our room on a little platform, very spacious, very comfy and clean. The safe worked too, and theres a mini bar in the room with a fridge. Room service was great (we never usually use it, but thought we would take advantage of it this time, I ordered the buttermilk pancakes, they were definitely worth the money, very tasty!) The rooftop bar was so cool, a very relaxed environment. Didnt get a chance to use the pool though although it looked nice.

Yelp
I'm a fan because I think this place is so cute. There's a ton of unique items. Everything is so fun to look at and explore. I've never had to purchase anything here. I've sat in The Shop waiting for Rudy's Barbershop a lot. It's expected to be pricey because: 1) It's The Standard. 2) It's in the heart of Downtown LA. 3) They carry unique items. Jessica, a lady who works at The Shop/Rudy's is awesome. She's so sweet and fun to talk with. Just had to add that in this review! She's been working there a few years now, and she makes The Shop fun.

Yelp
"Meh. I've experienced better." really hits the spot. I came by to pick up a couple postcards of the hotel. The postcards don't have a price on it. I picked out two and the girl rang me up. $3.95 please. $3.95?! wow, $2 for a postcard and that's with a 10% coupon. I jokingly said, "wow, you guys have really expensive postccards" as I was paying for it. She said in a very condescending manner, "i'm sorry. i don't set the prices here." Joke! hello?! Eh. LA. The stuff here is pretty nifty but it's nothing that I would pay a premium for. Walk out to Little Tokyo and you'll find the exact same cute stuff for cheaper. They've only somewhat redeemed themselves by having the XX cd available. I love the XX.

Yelp
I went into the Standard with a friend who was getting their hair cut at Rudy's. While she was getting her hair cut I was just browsing the merchandise which surprised me because they have awesome stuff. But the receptionist was extremely rude to me. I asked them if they had any bumble products and she said "its over there". She was to busy talking to someone else about her events the other night. And then she left for about 45 minutes. I was so SHOCKED. When my friend was done the receptionist was still gone. The stylist had to ring her up and I asked who was the women here before they told me that was the manager. I can NOT believe the service I got from the MANAGER of the department. That's pathetic. I will not be returning to The Shop ever again!!!!

Yelp
Love this store!! Always buy something for myself....they have great taste....very high quality and unusual pieces. I love the jewelry and I also bought the coolest strobe lights for my grandsons bike. Everything is always different every time I go.
