We got to the hotel a little earlier than expected and was able to get in our room already. Our host was very nice and let us know of all the favorite sushi places around them. The room was fresh & clean nice linen, and was small but perfect for just a day stay. The shower pressure wasn't how I liked but wasn't bad at all for just a day. We also mixed times up and left at 12 instead of 11 and didn't get over charged. overall a nice small clean place.

I gave it 3 stars because they were good about privacy, did have great food and had a fantastic pool. It is also in a safe area, within walking distance of lots of sites and activities... However, having stayed there repeatedly, I'd started to see the slips in service. For instance, one of the times I was there I was billed for a bottle of alcohol from the mini bar - when I haven't had a drink since the 1990's, literally... Another time, I was put in a much smaller room, still with a pool view, but not what I had paid for for my 3 night stay... The front staff often weren't the friendliest either... I haven't gone back there since the small room incident.. I was just too perturbed and didn't feel like dealing with them (accidentally?)pulling something else. As a woman who often travels alone, I'd prefer a hotel experience that was more friendly and inviting. It is a safe spot and has a beautiful pool though, so I will give them that.

I’ve stayed at The Standard in Hollywood a few times before knowing it was a no-frills kind of property. The rooms are a bit dated, but the vibe is cheeky and so LA-in-your-20s. Before my last stay, I contacted the concierge to try and arrange a birthday surprise for my boyfriend. I wanted to surprise him with a bottle of champagne and a special treat in the room upon arrival. I contacted the hotel more than two weeks before our stay trying to arrange something. I spoke to a few people to get more information on the cost of the amenity and what options they could offer my and the hotel staff kind of dropped the ball... I was transferred to several departments, called on multiple occasions and emailed the concierge mentioning how difficult and long it took to arrange things. Nobody got back to me! I did my part and I was honestly a bit shocked at how I couldn’t get a response. On my final attempt, I received a reply from Philip and Jon that they were offering my amenity on-the-house because they took so long to get back to me - plus we got an upgrade to our room. So they redeemed themselves and my boyfriend was very very surprised. Well done!

Pretty good price for a room right on Sunset Boulevard. Service was great and they have all the amenities you need, although it's definitely not a "nice" hotel. You can tell the furniture is super, super cheap: the carpet, the desks, the headboard, the lamps, the TV, everything. It's clean; or at least it appeared to be really clean to me but it's definitely not a nice hotel. Great if you want to have a good time with friends, party, hit the pool and be in a good part of LA, though.

Staying at the Standard was an experience that I will never forget. It is not the typical kind of hotel I would stay at. The service by the hotel was exceptional, the room was very clean and had a nice view over the pool and Los Angeles. The only negative, and why I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5, is the noise late at night from other guests. I think the next time I stay there, I will plan accordingly and get into the nightlife in the surrounding area.

Super cool vibe, Décor throughout hotel and rooms is very cool. Clean, spacious, nice big work space in room. Balcony view was awesome :) friendly, chic, trendy. Great location right on sunset. Will def recommend and will stay again. The service is usually spot on however once in a while you will run into a snag. The diner downstairs is fantastic. A little pricey but delicious. One of the mornings we went it was a slow with the service; however I’d still go back next time :)

Terrible! Do not stay here. We booked an early arrival room. Upon arrival we were told that housekeeping had not made up the room and it would not be available until 2 pm at the earliest. The concierge didn’t really seem to care and offered no solution. He just told us that they were aware from the previous night that the room would not be ready. However no one bothered to email me so I could make other arrangements. Terrible considering we arrived at 7 am and had paid for the extra day rate. They did nothing to rectify the situation. After waiting in the lobby for over an hour with no closer of a solution we went next door the the Mondrian. We were well looked after. I do not recommend staying at the standard.. it’s all in a name really... standard!

I love the downtown L.A. Standard. That said, the Hollywood location isn't quite as nice. The good: the staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and room service are very good. Love 24/7 room service! The minibar is fantastic, best in class. Also, love having bathrobes in the room. The classic 60s decor is also super fun. The not so good: terrible shower situation. No shelf to put your bottles/razor on. No curtain/door, everything gets soaked. Floor to ceiling mirror, no thank you lol. Hard as a rock bed. No temperature control in the room. I broiled the whole time I was there. Its dated, and not just in styling. Everything is old. The floors squeal when you walk, and so does your upstairs neighbors. I would stay here again, but I'll also look at comparable hotels in the area.
