Really good quality seafood. The scallops were delicious and reasonably priced. Seabass comes with crispy potatoes and leafy green, very generous portions and tasty. It was bank holiday Monday. We stood at the entrance without anyone greeted us. We had to wait and asked staff if we could have a table. Unimpressed by the service.

Wow what a spot, without doubt the best meal we had during our week long stay touring Cornwall. Lovely atmosphere, super cosy vibes inside with lovely decor and attentive service (Or you can opt for the summer beer garden vibes with a touch of class) Limited seasonal menu (not a critique) but still a difficult choice given how great all the dishes sound, especially when you throw in the specials of the day. Scallops were insane along with the wood roasted chicken which packed a punch in flavour. Grilled bass was “sensational” according to wife. Attentive and friendly service, relaxed atmosphere. What a place. Only tiny criticism is the desert came instantly, obviously prepared already but give us a few mins to settle post main.

Fantastic dinner - had heard great things about the food here and it did not disappoint! The pub is very cosy and has a great atmosphere, with friendly and attentive staff. Can’t wait to come back and try one of the famous Sunday lunches. Amazing potatoes in particular! A must visit if in the area.

What a treasure of a place . You walk in through a low almost cupboard like door into the quaintest pub with bars and a dining room like no other I’ve been to . Atmosphere is stunning as is the service and the food is outstanding . The potatoes are to die for , crispy and knarly and so delicious . Recommended

Wow, what a find. Don’t often review places but The Standard is really special. We went for lunch yesterday and back for dinner tonight. Great atmosphere on both occasions - very cosy in January. Entrance is through a small door and then you are in a really atmospheric room with perfect lighting at each table and an open fire. Everything we ordered was delicious - best roast potatoes ever. We had the cod and chicken main courses and shared a clementine posset for dessert. They have a lovely outdoor area for when busy in season.

Adorable place with amazing staff, cozy indoor seating and a spacious outside garden. The menu is small but everything is top quality. Amazing seafood and traditional dishes with a twist. Pricey, but worth it!!!

OMG…… where to start???? From the beginning! We entered via the garden on the evening of the 20th Dec, it looked magical, outside fires! In through a small door, into a beautiful lit cosy area where we were greeted by the duty manager who was so lovely and attentive, we were walking to our table which was in the most wonderful room, like walking into a hug! Our food was delicious the portions were generous. Beer was well looked after & the wine choices were spot on. We were so pleased with everything that we booked to go back for Sunday lunch the following day as it was our anniversary ( which I mentioned!) Imagine how we felt when we arrived at our table to find two glasses of bubbles!! Again after a very busy day they still hit the ball out of the park! Top notch food! Well done all of you! What a team, what a place! Only complaint is, we don’t live close enough to be regulars !! Thank you again!!

Loved everything about this spot. The kind people serving us, the cosy atmosphere at the bar while we waited for our table, but the real highlight was the food. Delicious!!! Don’t think you’ll be fine without booking a table in advance. As the colder months roll in, you’ll be glad you did!
