The 15 Best Romantic Restaurants in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"The Standard is located in the former Smith House, the last grand townhouse in downtown Nashville and a testament to 1840s Italianate architecture. It’s old-world, graceful, intimate, and exactly the place for creamy bowls of lump crab bisque, boneless ribeyes in red wine veal bordelaise, crisp martinis, and the company of a special someone." - Kellie Walton

The 13 Best Tiny Bars in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"The tiniest spot on the tiny bar list also happens to be the oldest. Built in the 1840s, the Smith House is where you’ll find The Standard’s three-seat bar. Take a lap to check out the historical opulence on display, including the tin ceiling and the space that once housed Tennessee’s first bowling alley. In the mood to splurge? Order the $65 ribeye. In the mood to save? Order $10 a-la-carte veggies like the bacon-braised green beans or the truffle hash cake. Whatever you order, take a moment to appreciate the fact that this may be the one place left downtown where men can’t wear jerseys, sleeveless shirts, or sandals." - Ashley Brantley

The service and ambiance were very nice. Our server was very enthusiastic which made the overall experience enjoyable. The food was okay. The two apps we ordered were quite disappointing. The tartar was congealed, gummy and poorly plated. The spinach salad was lack-lustre indeed. A few leaves of spinach and a sprinkle of goat cheese, served on an awkwardly small square plate. The main dishes we ordered were at least much much better. The pork chop and sea bass. Cooked well, portioned well. Food and overall rating would have been better if it wasn't for the two apps.

The place is a little stuffy for me, but the food was top notch. The waiter, though very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the menu, referred to a $120 bottle of wine as 'entry level'. If you agree with him, then the atmosphere is probably a good fit for you. I think a $15 bottle of wine is entry level and $120 per bottle is outlandish. Everyone in out party of 10 had an excellent meal. Most had the standard steak. I had a ribeye. It was perfectly aged, well seasoned and grilled just as requested. The bread and butter was remarkable. The Mac and cheese was exactly the right combination of cheesy goodness.

We had a fantastic meal! It was a friend’s bday and she rented out a private room. Our waiters were superb, tended to our every need. The lobster dip was to die for!

Incredible history, phenomenal food, and amazing ambience. The cocktail lounge before dinner was a great intro to such a historic and unique restaurant. The lobster dip, lump crab bisque, and creamed corn are to die for!

Google
Fine dining in a historic antebellum mansion, on the edge of greatness. The Lobster Dip is some of the best we’ve had. Benton’s Pasta Carbonara and the Norwegian Salmon are both large portions, the salmon done to order, nut the porcini in the Carbonara was tough and the shrimp was tails on. There is a good wine list and full bar. Service was not quite full service, but was prompt. Seating is more than comfortable, in a quiet room.

The Standard at the Smith House is an absolute treasure in Nashville! The historic charm of the building creates a one-of-a-kind ambiance, but what truly sets this place apart is the impeccable service. The wait staff is always attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm, ensuring every visit is memorable. On my last visit, I had their signature dish, The Standard—an incredibly tender filet cooked to perfection. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and paired perfectly with their standout side: the corn on the cob. I don’t know what magic they use, but it’s hands down the best corn I’ve ever tasted! Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just treating yourself, The Standard never fails to deliver an exceptional dining experience. It’s hands down one of my favorite places to eat in Nashville!

Google
This was quite the experience. Although we didn't get to try the whole menu since it was a large group and the menu was picked for us, the place was great It's set in an old brownstone building and when you walk in you get the old home vibe vs a restaurant. We were ushered to the basement where our large table was waiting for us. The service was excellent and we were promptly given our drinks and got comfortable. We were given a surf n turf of a filet and salmon, all of which were great. Dessert was offered and graciously accepted to top of the night. Definitely recommend this as a cool date spot. Menu looks delicious.

My fiancé and I came here the night he proposed. It has such a beautiful, romantic atmosphere. They had a bottle of champagne waiting for us, which shows how much they care! We got a glass of wine each while we waited for our reservation, and then moved to our table. Our server was amazing. He was very friendly and attentive to all our needs, always making sure our glasses were full and we were laughing. As for the food, we went with two of their daily specials! My fiancé got their A5 wagyu and he has been ranting about it since. I don't think I've ever seen him happier! I got their roasted veal and had no regrets because it was absolutely scrumptious. We finished off our meal with a glass of dessert wine and the best fruit cobbler we have ever had. You cannot get better food, service, and atmosphere. We live in Ohio and will most likely visit every anniversary since it's worth the trip in itself. My only recommendation is an uber may be a better option as downtown Nashville is expensive! For parking in the lot next to the restaurant, we paid $80. Don't be lame, EAT HERE!!!

Yelp
Amazing ambiance for a work dinner. The restaurant is located inside of a historic smith house. There's a secret members only cigar bar upstairs. Steak and sides are amazing. Bar area with moody lighting and fireplace is a perfect start for your night.

Yelp
Took my cousin for her bday when she visited from Florida. The food was great and when we couldn't decide on cocktails, the bartender suggested something I had never heard of and it was really good! It's darker in there but there is a small amount of light on the table. I will say that our server came by at least 4 times to get our drink order before we really had a good chance to look everything over. It made us feel really rushed. Luckily the bartender stopped by the table and made the drink suggestions. We got appetizers, entrees, and desserts, photos attached.

Yelp
Date night done well! We tried out The Standard this weekend and had a lovely experience. We made reservations, but arrived early and were sat early which we appreciated. Do recommend making reservations in advance though. The waiter was great and very knowledgeable about the wine and food list. The steak was hands down the best part of the meal. Would recommend the truffle hash cake & tobacco onion paired with the steak. So freaking good. We did split a ceaser salad ( not pictured ) but do not recommend. It was limp & flavorless. Save your money & splurge on the main course!!

Yelp
Service was impeccable in a historic gem. Perfect for a romantic evening or with a small group of friends. The crab dip was filled with crab and intense flavors. The filet mignon Oscar style was one of the top three filets I've ever had. The flavor and tenderness proved the quality of the meats they cut. Will without question be back again. There is not a single negative thing to state. Even when breaking up the bill between 5 people, the waiter even divided the appetizer prices into fifths so there was no discrepancy breaking up costs.

Yelp
We had a reservation for my wife's birthday on a Tuesday at 7pm. We ubered so I can't comment on the parking/valet situation. We were greeted by a couple super friendly hosts & were sat immediately in one of the main dining areas. Our waiter, Travis, was amazing the whole night. Super friendly, helpful, attentive, not overly intrusive. He even helped close off an air vent since my wife was cold. He waited til we were finished with each course before bringing out the next, & kept our waters full all night. The pace at which the food came out was very comfortable for us. We ordered the fried calamari, the 8oz filet mignon & 16oz ribeye, & we shared the bacon-braised green beans & cream corn with Benton's bacon. The calamari was fried perfectly & was not rubbery or fishy tasting at all. It went perfectly with the remoulade sauce. Our steaks were cooked perfectly & seasoned very well. The cuts of steak were good quality as well - very tender & minimal gristle. We thought the steaks overall were on par with other top steakhouses in the area. I liked the cream corn more, wife preferred the green beans. For dessert, we got to pick a complimentary birthday dessert from the menu so we got the peach cobbler! Really good as well. Ambiance - this is definitely what makes the restaurant so unique. We enjoyed reading about the history of the house, & our experience felt like we took a step back in time. They had Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole playing in the background. Since we came on a Tuesday night, we pretty much had the entire restaurant to ourselves. I was initially skeptical after reading some of the lower rated reviews. However, we personally didn't experience any of the things that people were criticizing. Overall, great food, outstanding service, & really unique dining atmosphere. Highly recommend for a special occasion or date night!

Yelp
Note this place has a minimum spend requirement and I went here on business. The food was GREAT! Such a beautiful and historical atmosphere. Service was 4/5 stars. They tried to keep up with us but I feel as if I was annoying our server. I would definitely come back if I personally could afford it. The bisque wasn't "the best ever" like it claimed to be and it was lukewarm on arrival. Tea selection is lacking especially since the home used to have a tea room. Other than that this place is without a doubt an experience. Highly recommend taking your business partners here for a big WOW factor.

Yelp
The ambiance here is amazing and provides a very unique dining experience. It's an old house turned into restaurant and is stunning. We ordered some old fashioneds at the lounge while waiting for our table and were able to take in the charming interior fireplace, high ceilings, and sultry ambiance. We then were taken to a separate part of the house to our table (will attach pics). Our waiter was very personable and super helpful with answering questions and giving recommendations. They are very catering towards dietary restrictions and/or allergies. What we ordered: Filet mignon tartare Spinach and strawberry salad- simple yet unique with the lavender vinaigrette (special) 28 oz Porterhouse- half T bone, half filet mignon, delicious Side of bacon green beans- the sauce was delicious, I was dipping my steak into it Food was tasty, nothing wowed me. Probably more a spot for a special occasion but I'd come back for the bar. Definitely a spot to check out and a place that you would discover something new at every visit.

Yelp
The Standard is in the Smith Home. As you walk in we were greeted by the host who took our coats. The ambiance is cozy with the fire place. We were seated at a tiny two person table. Josh the assistant waiter greeted us right away and offered water. The waiter came a bit after and took our cocktail drink. It did take some time to get the drinks. Not sure why. The dining areas are broken out amount the different rooms of the home. We Sat for a long time with our menus waiting to have our order take. We ordered the lobster dip which comes with a cheese bread. Very yummy and creamy warm dip. The house bread is delicious with home made better (all be it the amount of butter offered is a pea size ). For our meals we ordered the rack of lamb and the filet mignon. Both were absolutely cooked perfectly and delicious. For sides the cream corn cannot be missed. Pass on the loaded baked potato which came out cold and not very tasty (a big dry). Dessert was outstanding we went with the berry cobbler.

Yelp
I can't say enough about how amazing our experience was from start to finish! We were greeted and told the history of the house. The setting was warm and cozy in an upscale atmosphere. We had 2 teenagers with us and all of us ordered steaks. The Standard filet, butcher block filets and the strip. They were all superb, cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the Standard Filet! We shared the loaded mashed potatoes, green beans and the standard salad. Everything was amazing! For dessert we had chocolate mousse and apple pie. The best we've ever had!! Highly highly recommend coming here!!

Yelp
The vibe of this place is everything! The bar is beautiful, high ceilings, huge fireplace, decorated for Christmas. We ordered a Manhattan and an old fashion while waiting for our table. Once at our table we ordered the calamari, the best calamari I've ever had, then fried green tomatoes which come with crab stacked between. Both are delicious. We ordered the tomahawk, I feel like we were a little over sold on the temperature because we were told the medium is more like medium rare, and so on, so slightly over cooked for our liking. It was a good steak but could've been better, disappointed,. I hate to even say anything because the whole ambiance of the restaurant is just everything! I only say this to recommend you order the temperature you actually like. We had a great bottle of wine with the steak, the server was fantastic. I definitely would like to go back and try a different cut or order medium rare next time. It's a very interesting location with all the history!

Yelp
I had dinner here with friends. For my review I think it is important to understand I am not a fine dining type. I started with the Lump Crab Bisque, which was very good. I could taste the crab. I had the New York Strip for my main meal. It was very good. The star of the meal for me was the side of creamed corn recommended by our waiter. The creamed corn was probably the best I have ever had. We had a peach cobbler for dessert, which I did not love. The restaurant is in a Victorian(?) style house. The rooms seem to be true to the period. They sat us at an excellent table in front of a large window. A beautiful seating. They had an extensive wine list, and we took the waiter's suggestion. The service was excellent and the waiter made several excellent suggestions (always appreciated). Everything was good. Was it worth the price? I am not sure, for me.

Yelp
I went for dinner while on a solo trip to Nashville for a concert and stumbled upon this restaurant. It is in an old house, so the atmosphere is amazing. I had the fried green tomatoes and the standard filet. It was one of the best steaks I've eaten. I was so excited I forgot to take a picture of it. Fernando was the bartender and my server, he was very attentive. If you are looking for a quality dining experience, this is the place.

Yelp
Very unique dining experience. We came because of the exterior of the place looked very cool. Snagged a last minute reservation for five. When we walked into the old house turned into restaurant, we were full of curiosity. I asked the hostess a bunch of questions regarding the house. He did not rush us at all or brush us off. Instead, he gave a detailed description of the history of the house and what each level is used for, and what cool things to look for. The place was beautiful, and full of cool features that only older houses have. Our waiter was super helpful with answering questions and giving recommendations. We had several appetizers that all tasted amazing. I ordered the ribeye steak with cream corn, and my friends all had the petite filet. Everyone enjoyed their food. Highly recommend this place if you are near downtown Nashville!

Yelp
Wow!! Please get Sean and Peyton!! Truly what a sweet and intimate experience. I just enjoyed the service. The wait staff was incredible and so so kind. I am never going to forget this. Our food tasted incredible. I could've had a smidge more salt on my ceasar but that's my personal preference. Otherwise, everything truly was incredible. No plate was left anything but empty.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful dining experience all around - atmosphere was so cozy and beautifully decorated. Service friendly and prompt - food was incredible. We started with the calamari and then I had the blackened Chilean sea bass and hubby bone in filet- we ended up sharing everything which worked out perfectly - we couldn't recommend this restaurant more and will definitely return next time we are in Nashville

Yelp
Great steaks and great service. Ask them to give you a full tour of the place. Such a historic and cool building

Yelp
blackened chilean sea bass: 8/10 the standard filet: 9/10 creamed corn side: 10/10 smith house cheese grits: 10/10 half baked chocolate chip cookie: 9/10 decaf french press coffee: 8/10 super great restaurant! we absolutely loved the creamed corn and my parents said it was the best grits they've ever had, very light and fluffy. i loved my sea bass it was super yummy and the filet was great too! don't think you can go wrong here everything we got had a very high rating. we went here for a birthday so they gave us the cookie dessert for free! they said they baked it fresh so it'll take 7 minutes and they brought it out in exactly 7 minutes, we clocked it everything said, we probably won't go back lol everything was very good and got a high rating but nothing i am dying to go back for super great service and cool decor with an interesting history! you can't go upstairs and see the rest of the house because it's for members only... i put in the reservation notes to seat us away from any taxidermy because i am afraid of it and i saw a picture of moose taxidermy that fellow yelpers posted (a big thanks to you all) and the hostess kindly mentioned it and did not seat us in the scary room! thank you standard at the smith house. i also recommend reading their story on the menu it's so funny bathroom: 7/10 normal bathroom it's cool. historical building so i dont think they can do much but it was a normal bathroom so it gets a 7 parking: i don't think there is any parking specifically for this place since it's downtown - we ubered!

Yelp
The service is what puts this place above and beyond. We were greeted by the owner of the house and given a tour and learned about the Smith house. It was beautiful and pretty amazing to see. We dined in a room where a fireplace was moved into that Andrew Jackson was married in front of the second time. There was a beautiful bar there and pieces of history all around The food was very good. I will admit my steak while not being the best steak I've ever had was cooked perfectly and was still delicious. I'm not sure what it was but I felt there was some flavor missing. The drinks were great and the bartenders we had were fenomenal. The lobster bisque was very good as well. You really can't go wrong with anything we tried. We did also have the charcuterie board and some cheese bread and both were delicious. I was not able to snag a photo before we dug in!

Yelp
Wow is all I have to say. I rarely give out five stars but this place deserves it. It's one of or the oldest houses in Nashville with a restaurant in it now. The inside was so cool and beautiful. We got a drink first in the back bar and it was so pretty back there and the drink was amazing. We had a large group so we got a private table in the wine cellar which was so neat and the perfect place for a private table. The service was fantastic. The food was incredible, I got the steak dish and my steak was cooked perfectly. The sides, apps and desserts were amazing as well. Everything I tired was fantastic. This is such a great steak place with amazing history. Quite pricey but totally worth it!

Yelp
We came here for drinks and if we got a good vibe from it then we would have stayed. The bartender seemed a bit grump so we had one drink and left. Their craft cocktails are fabulous so highly recommend. Its an old unusual building so it you like old and worn, this is your place. Love the character and history. The floor creaks and high ceilings show many interesting tales. The dining areas are cool room areas that I kept expecting to possibly see a ghost. I hear the food is fabulous.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and cocktails. The house made butter for the bread is delicious as was the cream corn and Mac n cheese.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Every item we tried - from fried green tomatoes and calamari to their incredible ribeye and pork chop. Wonder service in a beautiful setting. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
The service and overall ambiance here was top notch. The server was knowledge and so kind, we were visiting from out of town and he gave us some recommendations and a great history of the restaurants and area. The sides were incredible but the steak was a little underwhelming. Overall, we would come back for the experience alone.

Yelp
This is our favorite anniversary place. The service is phenomenal and the atmosphere is super pleasant. We will go back for sure. It is pricey but worth every penny

Yelp
We came here last week to celebrate a birthday and they did not disappoint. First off, the building itself is beautiful and I liked that they include a brief history on the first page of the menu. The greeter was very friendly and offered if we wanted to hang our coats up. I also appreciated that she took the names of everyone in the party, it made for a more personal experience. We waited in the bar area as they were getting our table ready. It just so happened to be freezing outside that day so I loved just sitting by the fireplace enjoying a drink. Not long afterwards, we were escorted to our table and we were seated in a private room. The servers were really friendly and gave us great recommendations. We got the lobster dip, rack of lamb and the boneless ribeye, and the green beans and mac and cheese for sides. The food was fantastic. For an appetizer, they give you a good portion for the lobster dip. I didn't really taste the lobster too much and I would have liked bigger chunks of lobster, but the dish itself was still good. The entrees were fantastic. I don't eat a lot of steaks but definitely one of the best steaks that I've had at a restaurant. Since we were celebrating a birthday, our server brought over a dessert, it was half baked cookie with ice cream on top, and of course a candle. We also got the deconstructed apple pie for dessert, which was also delicious. Overall, we had a great experience, the food was fantastic and everyone we came in contact with was so friendly. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Our recent experience left me with mixed feelings. The evening began on a promising note; the ambiance was inviting, the staff attentive, and the menu is awesome. As the evening unfolded, we indulged in great food, wine, and some martinis. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the service, up until a certain point, was great. However, to our utter surprise, as we neared the end of our dinner and after having spent $1200 on our dining experience, we were abruptly asked to leave. The sudden dismissal was not only unexpected but also deeply unsettling. No clear explanation was provided. We sought clarification from the staff, but their responses were vague and unsatisfactory, further exacerbating our dissatisfaction. The lack of transparency and professionalism in handling this situation marred what could have otherwise been a memorable evening. Despite the amazing food offered by the kitchen, the unfortunate incident overshadowed the positive aspects of our visit. In retrospect, one cannot help but question the management's decision to eject patrons who had invested both time and a considerable sum in their establishment. Such a disregard for customer experience raises concerns about the overall hospitality and customer service standards. In conclusion, the food was noteworthy, but the untimely and unexplained expulsion from the premises left a bitter taste in our mouths. It's disheartening to see an otherwise promising dining experience tainted by an incident that could have been handled with more tact and consideration for the people who had invested in the restaurant.

Yelp
Wow! When in Nashville you must make an effort to dine here. I sent up a flare in Nashville Yelp Talk asking for a fine dining experience. Shout out to Christie B for pointing us to The Standard. This is a pre-civil war building with a ton of history. We arrived early and was greeted outside the restaurant, by name, and provided with a very comprehensive introduction to the history of the building and the Smith family. Once inside Mrs. Smith greeted us and led us to their rustic - cozy bar. We sat by the fireplace and enjoyed a wonderful martini. We were seated promptly at our reservation time in their elegant main dining room. Our waiter took his time explaining the different menu options and provided some excellent suggestions. We began with their Lump Crab Bisque with Crème Fraiche & Chives. Oh my goodness. The crème' fraiche made this bisque buttery and smooth. My Caesar Salad was as close to homemade as it gets. Our filets were cooked to perfection and required no additional seasoning. Per our waiter's recommendation we ordered their creamed corn and green beans as sides. The creamed corn is a must order and the green beans with bacon and balsamic vinegar was just awesome. We finished off this awesome dining experience with their Jack Daniel's Cheesecake. This was without a doubt one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had. Pro tips: Do not reserve via Open Table. We tried and there were no available reservations. We called them directly and discovered that there were multiple reservations available. We were told that there are issues with the online reservations and it is best to call them. Be sure to take in all the unique features of this establishment especially the molding, stained glass, chandeliers, and the staircase that leads to their private dining and cigar club. This was a true 5 star experience from start to finish!

Yelp
For a steak style restaurant in nashville, ehh.. Service was slow, drinks were weak, steaks were subpar for a nashville restaurant. Would not choose to go back.

Yelp
The restaurant is upscale dinning experience, very classic 18th century's feeling. There are unique spirits in the bar, and the bartender is passionate and knowledgeable. We enjoyed sipping the whiskies and rums by the fireplace before dinner. The food is so delicious. Everything cooked perfectly, mostly the crab meat on top my steak. Definitely recommend the red velvet cookie with vanilla ice cream. Also Taylor's port flight 10, 20, 30 years ( just getting better and better)

Yelp
Exceptional upscale Restaurant tucked away in an old home (oldest original in downtown Nashville). Lovely high ceilings, pocket doors, beautiful patio and overall romantic atmosphere. Service is exceptional. Drinks are spot on with extensive bourbon list and nice wine list. Menu is not terribly extensive but the offerings are exceptional. The lobster dip is sharable and a culinary experience all its own. All in all a beautiful evening for a couple or small groups!

Yelp
Choose the standard for a lovely dining experience. You'll be supping amongst history. Our party of seven were there for a birthday celebration. The entrees were well prepared. The waitstaff were great. Letting the Birthday girl choose a treat off the dessert menu. Thank you standard.

Yelp
The Standard is much more than a fine dining restaurant. When I go to the Standard I feel special. From the moment you arrive guest are greeted by Kevin. He tells you some history about the building and parks your car for you. He will also call you by your name. When you enter the beautiful establishment time sets you back, when life was slower. Elegant, classy decor around every corner. The Makers Mark room is a history lesson in itself. Many Makers Mark bottles line the room each one with a different story to be told. Dinner in this room is a memorable event. The entire restaurant is stunning with chandeliers and fireplaces. My favorite room is the bar, it's very romantic, quaint and has the perfect place for two to dine. The fireplace sets the mood with a small table and two chairs setting right in front of the fire. It's a small intimate space meant for wonderful conversations and eating delicious food. The crab bisque soup is a small serving but it's the best in town! The bread and garlic butter is the perfect compliment. The steaks are all good, I would go with one of the cuts and not the signature dish. To me the signature dish is a touch overdone with the sauce. It's great but if you order the signature steak get the sauce on the side. The sea bass is very good, cooked to perfection, the corn and potatoes that the fish sit on are fabulous! The sides are large enough to share, try the grits and ask them to add 4 pats of the garlic butter on top of them. They are not your average grits! The cocktails are great! There is also a private club upstairs, I have not had the privilege of seeing it but if it's anything like what I have experienced I am sure it's a nice place to have a membership. I highly recommend The Standard at the Smith House.

Yelp
Walking out full from a fancy restaurant is a good thing. Walking out incredibly full and beyond satisfied is something to celebrate about and make sure you return! My fiance and I came here for our last meal together before we went our separate ways for our bachelor and bachelorette party. Walking down the street to this place, we felt like we were lost because you had office buildings and other modern buildings nearby. Then BAM!, we found this untouched older building where The Standard resides! From the moment the door was opened for us, we knew we were in for quite an experience. All of the staff was so nice and helpful. Our server could pretty much recite anything on the menu and had great opinions on any wine we had questions on. For our meal, we had a tough time deciding even though the menu was small (due to the fancyness of the restaurant of course). I got a ribeye, my fiance got a filet mignon, and then we both split the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese sides. It was all incredibly filling, along with our large glasses of wine. The historic look inside and out of this place really set the mood for a great date night. And, pretty much our last "classy" thing we did down in Nashville before our bachelor and bachelorette parties took over and the chaos began! haha It's nice to see that a historical experience exists in Nashville with some great food and drink pairings to go along with it. Definitely recommend this place for a special occasion or to simply show someone that you care about them.

Yelp
We had an amazing anniversary dinner here: food was fabulous and service was amazing. The history of the house was so interesting. One of the highlights of our trip to Nashville!

Yelp
I went there for a private company event, they had live music, bartenders and our own staff waiting on us. It was great food for the veg option, the salmon was dry. The cake was really good, not overly sweet and probably the best part of the meal! Great experience but the drinks weren't the best, music was so loud we were having to shout to the person next to us, but the ambiance was great and it was a fun evening in Nashville!

Yelp
Occasion: Boyfriend Birthday Drinks: 10000/10, we ordered two drinks while we waited for our table at this cozy seating area with a fireplace, definitely perfect with the chilly weather. We ordered The Lira (for me, fruity and delicious, once of my favorite drinks of all time) and the Smokey Manhattan (my bf's that was warm and delicious) the bartender put so much care and knowledge into making our drinks. Appetizers: 9/10 Lobster dip, came with cheesy bread and to us this tasted like a fancy pizza which isn't bad at all, we ate it all. Entrees: 10/10 We both ordered off their steak choices and chose a ribeye (best cut) with different sides. I ordered their Oscar Style with came with asparagus and lobster with a hollandaise sauce (heavenly choice) and my bf got their Jumbo shrimp (light and buttery) and we shared a side of mashed potatoes which was cheesy and fantastic. Dessert: Cookie with ice cream, simple but good, it was given for his birthday, we weren't really interested in anything they had for dessert. Service: 9/10 Upon entering we were greeted kindly and told about the history of the building (one of the reasons I booked a reservation). Our server was kind, nothing bad nor exceptional to say. I asked for a table with a nice view but we were given just a table in the middle of a hallway which was okay. It was quiet and still pretty but I'm assuming they don't look at notes on OpenTable. But I'm not too picky since the whole restaurant is beautiful. Tap to pay is an option so that was nice! The restaurant is gorgeous and elegant which made it perfectly romantic. Overall nothing to complain about, definitely a 10/10 place to celebrate a special occasion or just a wonderful dinner experience. The place is worth the value. We will definitely be back when visiting Nashville

Yelp
Historic 1840's downtown Nashville townhouse is opulent, intimate and unique for that special dinner evening. Surprisingly larger than it appears from the outside. Upper themed floors are for reserved events. Warmly greeted and escorted to bar and then later to table. Fairly typical steak & seafood offerings were all good but not extraordinary. Excellent and knowledgeable service.

Yelp
If you want to feel like royalty, go here. This downtown mansion was built in the 1840's and is a whooping 18,000 square feet. Upon driving up, the friendly valet greeted us and briefed us on the history of the house. He was incredibly genuine and seemed like he was happy to be there - claiming that his job never gets old. I can see why - this place is beautiful!! He guided us inside where we checked in with Mrs. Smith for our reservation. She made a point to remember our names when checking on us throughout the evening. We were a bit early, so we were invited to go to the bar to get a drink and she would come get us when our table was ready. The speciality cocktails were delicious! I can't remember what the name of mine was called, but it was gin-based with lemon. My date got 'The Bobby' which is their spin on an espresso martini - delicious. The bar room was intimate and sophisticated. My date said it gave him "John Wick movie vibes". Although the bar itself is small, there are tables you can sit at to get bar service. I loved that they had a table facing the fireplace! They provide a choice of water - bottled still, bottled sparkling, or filtered tap. I'm not a water snob, so I chose bottled still and it was fine. We started with the calamari and it was the best I've ever had. At other restaurants it's heavy on the fried and light on the calamari, but it was the complete opposite here! The breading was really light and enhanced the flavor of the meat. It was served with a cherry pepper remoulade which was a delight. I ordered the rack of lamb. Our waiter said the chef recommended ordering it rare but they could cook it to any temperature. I would normally get it medium rare, but took his recommendation and it was great. The star of the show was the mashed potatoes! Some of the best I've ever had. I really appreciate how the menu is approachable considering the type of restaurant. When the valet returned with our car, he offered to take our pictures. We will be back!

Yelp
I don't really understand how you can't give this place a 5. The house is very historic with a long story. Food and service are top notch. The lobster dip was amazing. Slight negative was I felt a little rushed to free up the table.

Yelp
My girlfriend hosted a 40th birthday bash with a Roaring 20's Great Gatsby theme and this place could not have been a more perfect venue. The place is elegant and you can tell it's been a staple restaurant for decades. There is a dance floor you can use, a stage for live music, a balcony and a bar plus plenty of room to have guests mingle. The decor is traditional and elegant and the staff was genuine and attentive.

Yelp
5 Stars all around! The food, hospitality, service and truly unique history were all excellent. In the 100+ year old row-house restored to its original architecture, The Standard restaurants creates an intimate dining experience with a historical feel that sets it apart from the myriad of other restaurants in Nashville. The food is exquisite - flavorful and filling. The lump crab bisque? A MUST. The boneless ribeye was tender, flavorful and the perfect temperature. The red velvet skillet cookie with vanilla ice cream. No other dessert like it. Even the valet service was awesome. My only gripe is that we didn't allow ourselves enough time to explore the bar and just relax in and absorb the atmosphere prior to our movie time. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
This place was amazing overall. My girlfriends and I had dinner here for my birthday. Allan was our waiter and he was great. He's very knowledgeable and appropriately chatty. We had the NY strip, Chilean sea bass, asparagus, the Standard filet, and the half baked cookie for dessert. Everyone was extremely pleased with everything. This was the best meal we had the whole week we were in Nashville.

Yelp
Only eat here if you are native or you won't get it. Foods great for locals. Membership available.

Yelp
First of all they couldn't split the bar tap for 2 couples. Really? They added everything together and split in half even though we got 4 drinks and our friends got 2. Food was ok, nothing extraordinary. Dessert was awful!! The history of the restaurant was interesting but the dining experience was far from that. Checked it off my list of places to go...won't be back.

Yelp
We went for our 37th Anniversary and was excited to visit this restaurant that has been so many different things in the past. The bar was cozy and nice. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the menu gave an interesting history of this old home. The food, however, was a huge disappointment. We ordered the calamari appetizer and the calamari was overcooked and rubbery, the breading was much too thick and more like a batter for fish, not light enough for calamari. The lobster bisque was outstanding and full of bites of lobster. My husband ordered the Chilean sea bass and it was extremely overcooked. I ordered the bone-in pork chop. It looked and tasted like something that you would get from Sysco (frozen, with fake grill marks). We got the red velvet baked cookie with ice cream, and, it was delicious. We will not be going back. Too expensive for food that, for the most part, tasted like it came from a chain restaurant.
