Short summary: Great food, decent drink options, chill vibes with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, good enough service, but overly expensive for what it all adds up to. Food: Very good. I ordered the House Burger, and in all fairness it was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time, the flavors were really good. My girlfriend's wings were great too. We both agreed the fried green tomatoes could've been sliced a bit thinner, but that's minor. Drinks: My girlfriend's drink (Blueberry Fizz, we think?) was great, perfect for chilling on the patio on a nice day. You'd think the beer selection they have here would be great, and they do have a lot of options, but it was heavy on sours and dark beers, and a few IPAs. The options for lighter beers were surprisingly minimal, comparitively. So that just depends on your personal taste. Service: Mid. Nice enough. Atmosphere: Big space, lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is largely covered. It is almost entirely picnic table style/communal seating, or bar stools at the bar. Definitely a group hangout kinda place, it works. Prices: Expensive for what it is, and the biggest reason for the three star rating instead of four. We got one app (fried green tomatoes), two entrees (a burger and wings), and two drinks (a cocktail and a beer). Our total, with a standard tip, was right about $70. Yikes. It didn't feel like a $70 experience by any means. At that price, it's definitely not somewhere we can just peg as a go-to casual hangout. Not worth it for us.

TLDR: Food was meh, service was downright disrespectful. We were out of town for a soccer tournament and popped in for lunch since it was close and had great reviews. Two adults, 4 kids, $130 after tip (you have to tip at the counter when ordering before you receive any service, then you also have to bus your own table…) We get our number marker and go sit down. We were not told to stay and wait for our two drinks from the bar. So we went to fill our waters. Several minutes later we hear a woman yelling “someone left their drinks at the bar!” “Did someone order a beer and spritz?!” It was us, so I approached her to say it’s ours and sorry we didn’t know we needed to wait but she immediately cut me off and rudely said “if you leave your drinks, then idk where they go” loud enough that everyone turned to look at me which was humiliating. Then she stormed off. I sat back down shocked and we waited for our food. First came the green beans, good. Ranch was decent too. Then she brings everyone’s meals except mine, when she finds us and comes over. She slams my kid’s wings on the table and says oops… gets everyone their food and before I could ask about mine she rushes off. A few more minutes pass by and she comes back with my salad. This time setting it down but still no interaction, just rushes off. She never came back after that to check on us or the table. To the food, The $12 cheeseburger my husband ordered was about 3.5in wide… looked sadder than a kids meal. The $22/doz garlic Parmesan wings came out hot and looked great. Unfortunately there was no flavor at all to them. The meat was cooked well and you could see the Parmesan coating but when you took a bite, no flavor at all. I didn’t believe the girls until I tried one myself. What a waste. The two other kids got chicken tinders. Neither of the kids ate their tenders after the first bite. Not even with ketchup. They had fruit and fries. Which were fine. Nothing special. We didn’t even take them with us. Finally my salad. I asked for an extra cup of dressing. Glad I did since both cups weren’t filled all the way. The chicken was grilled well and the salad was fresh and the dressing was tangy and good. More like a balsamic and not the classic champagne dressing I expected. Just watch your teeth on the pecans. They’re not picked clean enough and you’ll hurt a tooth on them. Overall I don’t recommend this place at all. It looks like a cool spot. And maybe just for a beer would be a good hang it’s just not worth getting yelled at over.

Google
Neat place, very spacious. I ordered an onion burger with fries. The onion burger was good but could have had more fried onions on it. The fries were ok but definitely room for improvement there. I also ordered the fried pickles, which were fabulous. My wife and daughter had chicken sliders, which they said were good. They have like 48 different ales. They have many big screen TV's that had the football game on that I wanted to watch. They bring you your food when ready, but you have to get your own drinks. I didn't really like that for the amount of tip they were asking for. You can select to do a custom tip, but the initial choices were 20%, 25%, or 30%, which in that case It would be nice to have the drinks brought to you instead of having to serve yourself.

The tasty food, thirst quenching beer, and wonderful service were all beyond exceptional. Thank you Maddi and Jerry with Red Hair aka Jerred!

We had a great time playing trivia. It helps when you get 1st place! The trivia host was lots of fun and we loved her personality.

Had seen this place several times while driving by and decided to give it a try. My first impressions from the walk in the parking lot was it looks new and is very nicely done. Inside it looks like an industrial building converted to a restaurant and huge indoor seating area. Ordered an Okie-style onion burger with a side of mac&cheese. Order came out in short time. Burger was cooked perfectly. The grilled onions, cheese, fresh lettuce and tomatoes were done right and this was a very good burger. The mac&cheese was creamy with a white cheese that complimented the burger. The interior was clean and very relaxing with big screen TVs on the walls. They also have outdoor seating in an equally nice and well maintained space. Was surprised how nice this place is and the have modern music playing in the background both indoors and outside.

This place is an excellent option for hanging out with family and friends. I have been here a few times, and every time has been a relaxing and fun experience. They have many artisan beers, wine, cocktails, and local food. A great place to relax!

Absolutely fantastic experience at The Standard in Norman! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, attentive service. Our server, Montana, went above and beyond—she was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. She had great recommendations and never missed a beat. We also had the pleasure of meeting Paul, the manager, who checked in to make sure we were enjoying everything. It’s clear he genuinely cares about the guest experience and runs a tight, professional, and welcoming operation. The food was excellent, the drinks were spot on, and the atmosphere was vibrant yet comfortable. If you’re looking for a place in Norman that truly delivers on service and quality, The Standard is it. Huge thanks to Montana and Paul—you both made our visit memorable. We’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
Delish fried chicken!!! Many craft beers to choose from and garage like, casual atmosphere. Love this place!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place more but sadly it left me unsatisfied. Let's get into it: Ambiance: 6/10 Inside is an open building with bench seating, with outside seating off to the side, I believe bands occasionally play out there. Anyways, It was all decently clean, no problems there. You'll grab a menu from the front entrance and then place your order at the counter in the back. The menu is decently small, typical bar food with a few interesting options but it is well-priced! Side note: There are no waiters, so you'll take your trays to the trash, etc. so if that's not your cup of tea.... Food: 4/10 I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say I just caught them on an off day seeing as it was 3:30 when we ate here. The fish LOOKED great, but man it was rough. Super dry and tasted nothing more than old grease. I typically like my fish fried hard but it was just... not great. Coleslaw was good though. Beer: 10/10 Great, tons of local Oklahoman options that were cold and tasty! Might not come back to eat but would definitely come back to try a few more beers. As always, try it for yourself!

Yelp
This place is closed 3 hours before they were suppose to. It is Friday night I showed up in with a group of 6 at 10:45 and they told me they just did last call and online it says 1am. I was here on Memorial Day weekend as well and they stopped serving food at 7:30pm and did last call before dark. This place never honors the hours they post and I'm so tired of it. I will never be going back.

Yelp
Y'all. Seriously, if you haven't been to The Standard, you're missing out! It's a casual brewhouse with tons of variety on tap and a full bar for libations. Their food menu is stellar - from their champagne chicken salad to their burgers, fish and chips, friend green tomatoes, and fried chicken - I've never tasted something here that didn't impress. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, even when it's busy and people get cranky. Try it out!

Yelp
Great food, awesome beer selection and great atmosphere. Only problem is the process of ordering food. Sometimes it is over in the food window and sometimes behind bar. No one tells you where the cutlery or napkins are. You gotta kinda figure it out. I love sitting on retro couches watching sports and people.

Yelp
Stopped in the week they opened for a week night date with my boyfriend. All-around it's a great place. Huge beer selection that's all local. Also had a selection of OK Cider Co ciders and some sellers from other local places which was great because I'm not a beer drinker but my partner is. The food was pretty good although it's a pretty small mostly bar-type food menu. We will be back. The servers were super friendly but in the future we will likely eat some where else first and come visit for the beer selection and the cool outdoor area. For two beers each plus an app and two entrees we ended up spending almost $80 for two people to eat dinner on a Tuesday night which seemed a little crazy considered how little we actually ordered.

Yelp
Cool place. Live music. Great selection of beers. Food is good- I had catfish. Service was pathetic. Hal Smith Group needs to retrain the majority owner and staff ASAP. Common complaint in the reviews? Slow service...FIX IT. Excuses are becoming perpetual. At what point will the common complaints actually have an effect on managements behavior? CHEERS.

Yelp
This is @&$# good on the bone fried chicken my friends FANTASTIC fried chicken, got the honey glazed of the multiple flavor options, MASSIVE local beer selection, huge outdoor area, huge bar, can't wait for patio weather, to sit outside and watch a game ..... Will absolutely add this to the downtown Norman rotation, we'll done & best of luck to them .... HAD GREAT SERVICE TOO !!!!

Yelp
The food was delicious! We got the bacon burger and catfish and definitely did not disappoint. Also our pup had a great time out on the patio. Would recommend!

Yelp
Years ago this was Norman Bodyworks, it was a great auto body shop. It should have stayed a body shop. This was easily the greasiest fried chicken i have had in my 61 years. I dont know if they put sugar in their batter or if they put honey on the final product but fried chicken should not be sweet. We have been there 3 times now and each time was dreadful. We will NOT be going back. If i had to come up with something good to say.....the fried green beans arent bad.

Car W.

Yelp
Pretty good ! We ordered a 3 tender meal with fries, and a whole bird with lemon pepper seasoning, coleslaw and Mac n cheese. Everything was so good ! Took about 30 mins for a whole bird to come out but it was worth it. The coleslaw was different , tasted more like dill or cucumber. It wasn't bad but not was I was expecting. Overall everything was delish.

Yelp
Food is fantastic beer selection is thorough to cover all different tastes. The Old Fashioned may very well be the best I've ever had. Great vibe, friendly service and most importantly CLEAN.

Yelp
Place has definite potential! Beer selection is great. Little disappointed in the food. Our club sandwich's could have been better. Our breads were burnt and that kinda just ruined the whole sandwich. Definitely will give another try after some time.

Kenzi B.

Yelp
We enjoyed the atmosphere. It was very relaxed and a great place to meet up with friends and/or bring kids. There are two separate counters. One to order drinks and one to order food. It is walk up counters to order and they bring your food to you. We ordered wings, an onion burger with fried okra as a side, chips and queso, and kids chicken tenders. The highlight for me was the fried okra. My husband loved the wings and our toddler was a fan of the chicken. Personally thought the queso was small for the price. It had a lot of vegetables, which I enjoyed but some others may not. Overall a great experience.
google avatar

Kim Y.

Yelp
We're new to the area and were looking for great wings one night- this place did the trick! Tried 3 different flavors, bone in, all were excellent!! Garlic was a fave! Would highly recommend! Can't wait to go back when the weather improves, the patio looks legit! Excellent service as well!
google avatar

Serana N.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere and amazing food! Their fried chicken was sooo crispy and juicy. Everything is homemade and that really comes through in the taste. The chicken is huge! Definitely worth the price.
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
Barely average food. Service was not good. Very cool space and that's the best thing about it. Don't go for the food. I will not be going back.
google avatar

Shelly T.

Yelp
Atmosphere was good, great beer selection and I thought the food was good. I really liked the fried okra. The green tomatoes weren't good. I would have given a better rating but ordered a milkshake. In the time waiting for the milkshake people with me ordered and drank 2 beers. Went and asked about milkshake and was told she'd make it in a minute. Finally went and asked for a refund after 30 minutes. What went from a good experience and a definitely coming back attitude went to a probably won't be back because of how ridiculous the whole situation was. Other people got their floats that ordered after I did. Bad service.

Abby M.

Yelp
I have been here two times wanting to get fried chicken. First time was around 8:00pm on a Wednesday, second time was 6:30 on a Friday. Both times I was told that they are out of fried chicken. I was really wanting to like this place but at this point it's just a waste of time to come in. The beer is okay, food is mediocre, and the service is not good at all. They are constantly out of silverware and probably everything else you need.

Yelp
I do not write many reviews. But in this case I felt this one is needed. My wife and I went to the standard today for lunch. I had the burger which was mediocre at best, the french fries I had tasted like they were cooked in the same oil as the cat fish and chicken or the oil was just old. Either way the taste wasn't very good. My wife had the chicken strips. The batter they use was tasty but the chicken was way over cooked and horribly dry. I spoke to the woman who came to the table to grab her plates, and mentioned all of what I just said to her unfortunately, not a peep from the manager to me that is a make it, or break it moment not that I was looking for anything because I wasn't just needed to inform him that he has problems. I was hoping for a better experience but unfortunately that did not happen. Thanks for listening.

Stacey B.

Yelp
We decided to try the standard. It was a Tuesday night so they were not that busy. We ordered chicken tenders, fried catfish, cheeseburger, and the mashed potato bowl. We also ordered some beers. The beer selection was great. Huge selection. Typical prices. The food was not that good. Under seasoned. A big problem for me was that it was so slow to get the food out. From the looks of it the chef was cooking the food then bringing it out, then going back in to start cooking the next order. If your wanting a place to go try lots of different kinds of beer and maybe eat something. It was good. If your wanting to go eat and maybe drink some beer then go elsewhere.
google avatar

Brooke S.

Yelp
This place has potential. The building and location are great, buuuut it kind of stops there. The chicken strips were good. The wrap was exactly what you would expect...mid. The sandwich was fine. The customer service was hurried, blunt, and unwelcoming from three different workers-unfortunate. The service was also slow. Will probably not go back.

AJ M.

Yelp
Been here for drinks a couple times and it's been good. First time coming for food and would not recommend it . The kitchen has been very very slow and several individuals seem frustrated/ have asked for a refund due to how long it has taken. The TV has been running the same ad over and over again for the last five minutes, driving me insane. Will try again one day but very frustrated right now. Update: just got my food - not worth the wait , won't be back to eat. To drink? Yes.

Nancy R.

Yelp
I've been twice to this restaurant. The first time the food was great although the space was incredibly noisy. The second time we thought maybe takeout would the way to go. I don't like to give bad reviews but the food tonight was not up to my standard. The curly fries tasted like detergent; I suspect the grease was old and on its way to rancid. The Cowboy caviar was overly acidic - vinegar and salt seemed to be the main ingredients. It needed some garlic, lime, tomato, onion and maybe a little red pepper in addition to the black-eyed peas and corn. The biscuits too lacked excellence. They were heavy and tasteless in spit of the cheese. On the other hand, although seriously understaffed, everyone was polite and cheerful. My order was ready when I got there and the young cashier tried to give me my order for free. The end
google avatar

Savannah P.

Yelp
The service was good I love the beer selection! It's a nice big area great for big groups! Can't wait to sit outside this spring. I didn't get any pics of the food but the chicken is amazing and the biscuits !!
google avatar

Joe N.

Yelp
Blown away by this place. Food was exceptional as well as the craft tap selection. Lots of room inside and out, plenty of big screens to watch games. Even corn hole area. Really loved the Okie onion burger and the the Okie charcuterie board. Very clean and well run.
google avatar

Emily P.

Yelp
The Standard is a great new addition to Downtown Norman. There's a huge selection of beer on tap. And lots of space within which to claim a spot to hang.

Cory V.

Yelp
The food is great. The beer prices are absolutely insane. If you're coming for chicken wings, great, but if you're looking for beer, there's 15 other places in walking distance with great beer for half the price. It's unreal how this place gets away with their beer prices. 10oz run of the mill IPA pours for $9.50.

Jimmy S.

Yelp
There are a lot of bitter people out there that you can't make happy no matter what you do. The place was good. Beer selection was good and wings were good. Cool spot go check it out
google avatar

Graydon S.

Yelp
This place is great! The burger was excellent! The chicken and the fries were good as well. The service was FANTASTIC the food was out quickly. The vibes were nice and cozy. My only gripe is the okra was pretty meh. Otherwise perfect would recommend!

Steve K.

Yelp
I love chicken and consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur. The Standard's fried chicken ranks up there with the best. Biscuit was also very good. The restaurant is in a old garage and they have done a good job with the space. Large beer selection focusing on OK breweries. This is now one of my favorite spots in Norman.

Richelle L.

Yelp
We go with friends so that is the big draw. Sunday it was nice. Food was so so but the service was awesome! Despite the many beer offerings i found myself having to blend beers to get one I liked. We returned on Thurs for trivia night. The acoustics are horrible. My ears are still ringing but had a hard time understanding anything the host said. She wasn't charismatic at all and seemed to take forever between rounds. The food was subpar! Burger was ok. Fries good. The fried green tomatoes were HORRIBLE. I was so excited to get them and they tasted only of grease, breading and something very spicy. What a waste, I couldn't even finish one! The worst part is when we got home we smelled it... we smelled like we worked the fryer at a fast food restaurant. Nasty! My friend got a brownie. It was fresh, fresh out of the freezer! Flavor was good but a cold brownie is not what i expected at a restaurant. Again, the best part it is a convenient meeting place for our friends but I'll eat elsewhere and find a different trivia venue. The bartenders on Sundays are your best bet if you want a more positive experience. The Standard needs to raise their standards.

Susan T.

Yelp
Walked up to the bar to order a drink... the guy behind the bar looked at me and said "What?" ... I order a drink on their menu they didn't have ingredients for... so I say it's meh

Rick H.

Yelp
This is a regular on our list. Menu is not large But what they do they do very well. Mashed potato bowl is comfort food delux. Highly recommend this place.

Jacob R.

Yelp
Great spot for big parties, tons of beer options and a great casual dining experience. Good drinking food, nothing amazing but gets the job done.

Erin H.

Yelp
Ordered a margarita. The well tequila was so bad that I couldn't drink it. Told the girl at the counter and she said 'sorry. That's the well for you'. Not helpful.

Shanda S.

Yelp
Loved this place! Chicken was cooked to golden perfection and okra was hand breaded. Loved the picnic style dining. Makes it impossible not to meet new people. IPA's were a good selection also. Not a "quiet" restaurant/bar, but great to watch games on the big screens. Outdoor area was great for kids!

Real D.

Yelp
Norman's first family friendly indoor-outdoor space with a modern vibe and country fixings. The fried chicken Cobb salad was a treat and my kids loved the mashed potato bowl. My husband liked the fried catfish and queso/chips. The prices were also family friendly. You order at the counter so that makes it easy to go here with a large group. Happy to see so many local options on the beer list!

Angi G.

Yelp
Food was not great- had the Mac and cheese special. The fried chicken was barely edible, weird chewy texture. Other food was barely warm and not very good.

Tyler M.

Yelp
This is the restaurant and beer garden we have all been waiting for in Norman! The open concept by turning the former Norman Bodywoks into a collaborative and community focused space was done perfectly - so glad the building was restored into something we can all enjoy. The food is also AMAZING (I had the fried chicken with honey glaze, mashed potatoes, fried okra, and biscuits). Kiddos loved their burger and chicken tenders. Great place for kids to play as well while enjoying a locally crafted beer. Will definitely be coming back often...HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Mark T.

Yelp
huge place good beer selection mediocre food the picnic table seating i get for slamming people in there but not my choice for a comfortable night out EXPENSIVE for downtown norman
