Best Tampa-Area Spots For Chardonnay This Memorial Day | Eater

"This taproom is nothing if not diverse in its drink selections, with over 35 different kinds of wines and over 100 kinds of bottled beers. Here, fresh made food like mojo flank tostadas is served in a rustic-yet-industrial space, so you can post up at the wooden bar and pair your Harken with a fresh entrée." - Matthew Meltzer

Everything was delicious! We haven't been in a while so decided to stop in on a rainy Sunday evening and we're very happy we did. We weren't real hungry so we decided on a few appetizers which were great. We had the Potstickers, Duck Wings and Cajun Corn. We also tried a couple of local beers which we had never had before and really enjoyed. We sat at the bar, the bartender was very helpful and super friendly. I'm sorry but I don't remember her name.

Interesting place that's for sure! This is situated in a strip mall wedged between a Big Lots and. Family dollar with an unassuming "PUB" sign on the front. But, this did not disappoint. There was actually a wait of 20+ min as we arrived. The menu is unusual, there is really no theme. Asian, German, American, etc etc. We had the French Dio sandwich which was chunk Filet Mignon pieces, cooked to perfection. Including loaded tots! Also had the Bulgogi Noddle bowl which was great, both very filling!! Apps we had the Hot Honey Chicken wings were were VERY good. As well as the fish dip... lol doesn't seem like a place that would have fish dip but it was really good too! Service was nice and attentive. The whole place and bathrooms could use a deep cleaning but definitely check this out if you are in the area!

Google
A spot for locals and visitors alike. The food is fantastic. Great beer and wine selection. Get there early as popular dishes tend to sell out. There is a private room for private events.

Absolutely loved everything about our dining experience at Stein &Vine. The location is easy to miss but once you have gone there, you definitely will remember and return. Delicious

Google
Came in on a Sunday afternoon and honestly was not sure if we would go in. But did I ever learn to not judge a book by its cover. Great food atmosphere and service. Everyone was really friendly and the the place is incredible on the inside. Had the Bao Buns, hot dogs and lacey hamburger. 10 out of 10

Google
Been going here since early 2015 if my memory serves me. Even though it has gone through some revamping, and some growth, the things that make it great have remained the same. It has the small “pub” feel as advertised on the pre-existing sign outside, but the depth of the food and beverage menus can compete with anyone in the area. The diversity of the food and the frequency of seasonal and specialty items means that trying everything is impossible. Ty, the owner, and master chef, creates amazing food experiences. Hand to God, if I was allowed a last meal, it would be the items pictured. Drunken shrimp, Cajun corn, and the fish and tots which have been on the menu for years and I have eaten more times than I can count

Google
Delightful unexpected pub with almost a European British vibe in the heart of a strip mall with friendly attentive service, creative and fresh food with a revolving eclectic menu from tacos and burgers, picadillo, to Shephards pie, grouper Sandwich, asian potstickers, and gourmet delicacies like scallops you just would not expect. Nice selection of wine and beer.

Google
This place is a Brandon gem. Great atmosphere, food and drinks. Endless number of beer and wines along with a winning menu of nothing but mouth watering meals. Our group had some burgers and they did not disappoint. Juicy, cooked to temp, and plentiful with tater tots. The filet tips and mashed potatoes did not disappoint as well. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try.

Yelp
Had a moscato that was ok... tasted like the bottle had been opened days ago Only BEER and Wine Was a little sad since I saw another patron posted a margarita they said was good but the bartender refused said they only do beer and wine. Service was definitely lacking, they have a sign saying not to come in to wait and be seated but no one is outside. Bartenders service was ok I guess. There was about 2 other tables there, the "Pub" had music playing but you can barely tell whats playing. 2 very small tvs playing the same thing and a big tv in the middle with the beer they have available.

Yelp
Loved this place--not sure why we haven't been back yet! Stein & Vine delivers on all fronts: great food, amazing service, and solid drink options. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between casual and classy, making it ideal for a date night or a fun group outing. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Definitely one of those spots you think about long after the meal is over. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Really great meal! Love this local restaurant that is changing their menu. Saw the Saturday night menu on Facebook and had to stop by. Only unfortunate thing is the special items can be sold out so get there quickly! Nice draft list of all beer types with many local brews. Nice amount of sours. Got a great recommendation for the Wilder side sour from our waitress. It was a great choice! We ordered the Shrimp Burger, Fried Gator and their 33 1/3 Burger. There were 2 other specials we wanted to try but they sold out. But these were awesome meals. Gator was very good. Fried up nicely and got 5 big pieces. Gator itself is a firmer meat but was cooked well and tender. Not something you see often around here so loved seeing it on the menu. The red beans and rice was straight out of New Orleans. Beans, ham, andouille all in a great sauce. This meal was A+. Wife had the shrimp burger. It was a huge patty with big pieces of shrimp. Not ground up. It had and egg and some pickled veggies. They all worked well and was delicious. We also had their staple burger. Nice size and very good. My sone did not let it down and it was gone within minutes. Inside is pub style through and through. We got in with just a short wait. This is a true local place. You may miss driving by, except for all the cars in the strip mall parking. Really great meal!

Yelp
Great attentive service with a rotating menu. Inside is like your typical pub. There is a private room in the back called the vault you can reserve. Entree portions are pretty large.

Yelp
Had not had soft shelled crab sandwich in years and today was a wonderful treat! Menu called for bao bun plus kimchi but I wanted just the crab on a toasted bun with their crafted dill spread. Outstanding!!! Crispy and perfectly fried on a buttered and toasted bun hit the spot for this Cajun!
google avatar

Miller Q.

Yelp
Our book club called ahead to reserve "The Vault", a private room great for small to medium groups. Our servers consistently checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. Tots all the way were a generous portion loaded with all their toppings, easily shareable. Their specials menu is constantly rotating, but if you're lucky enough to see the Shrimp Big Kahuna Sammy, definitely give it a try! Big pieces of shrimp fried into a patty had a nice combo of textures with the slaw and great flavor. Would definitely recommend this spot to an adventurous eater with an extensive beer and wine list to boot!

Yelp
This restaurant is ok. It's located in a strip Mall that the inside decor is actually pretty cool. It's big and it's rustic and I liked it. The service was good too. Now onto the food. The pork wings were not as pictured, but they were delicious. They came and they were pretty small. I got the steamed fish with the vegetables and I really didn't enjoy it. It lacked salt and it was full of butter. I thought brussels sprouts could've been crispier as well. My husband enjoyed his fried fish, but I probably won't come out of my way to revisit except for the pork wings. They also have a great assortment of craft beers.

Yelp
We love this place. This is an upscale pub restaurant. The food is amazing. They change the menu occasionally and always surprise you with new items. Service is super friendly by greeting as you arrive. Table service is always professional and casual. My wife got the steak shawarma bowl and loved it. She added extra tzatziki it was so good. I had the elk burger with blue cheese. It was delicious. Cooked perfectly. My tots were crispy and some cheese and bacon made them even better. We were able to talk and relax with no hurry to go. This place never disappoints. They also have a great beer selection and special sodas.

Yelp
Honestly, I have been visiting this spot for years. It is a hidden gem. The food is superb! The food they come up with makes me happy . Sometimes I wish they can keep making some of their creations. Menus are different daily They have things that are constantly on menu...my go to is fish spread, burgers and the chili. The place is a little smaller so on the weekend you will probably be waiting outside. It is very dim inside with the lights Beers and ciders on tap.is great. Service is a hit and miss depending on when you go. Food always comes out fast though.

Yelp
The Stein & Vine is one of the BEST restaurants in the area; I've been here several times and I have never had a bad experience or ordered something I didn't enjoy. Food: 12/10 The food is so amazing I usually forget to take any photos. They have new specials daily and they are always creative and fun. Some of my favorites: drunken redfish topped with shrimp over a bed of grits (comfort food on a plate), chili, Cajun soft shell crab, ALL of their scallop dishes (they change frequently). Beer: 10/10 I typically order sours when I go but they have plenty of other options available. They also carry seltzers and some wine also. Service: 9/10 The bartenders/servers are always really nice, knowledgeable, and attentive. They are never overly engaging but always polite and quick. The chef has come out often to ask me how my meal was which is a nice little touch. I love this place and it's worth trying, take all the bad reviews with a grain of salt and try it for yourself. The inside decor is cute, it's a small locally owned business and it deserves to be enjoyed. P.S. They offer discounts for anyone who works in the hospitality industry! :)
google avatar

Yelp
All food is made from scratch and made to order. They feature a different specialty menu daily, I believe. So sometimes they run out of a certain special. But it's okay because everything I've (and others) had had been delicious and homemade. It just says PUB in the outside but don't get discouraged. It's always crowded especially on the weekends. It is highly recommended! Most of all an extensive array of beer and wine. (Changes often as well.) Go here! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
A couple friends and I went to lunch here on a Sunday. We all had the mango moscato and it was sooo good. Definitely on the sweet side. We also all had the gumbo and it was pretty good overall. Lastly, we shared the salted caramel and peanut butter pie. 10/10! Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive. I would definitely be open to returning here.

Yelp
This is a hidden little gem! Whatever you order here is going to be absolutely amazing. First my wife and I started with some Pig Wings. Absolutely delicious. I got the elk burger as my main course. Can you talk about impeccable quality. I love this place and can't wait to come back and try something new on the menu.
google avatar

Rick S.

Yelp
While not much to look at from the outside the inside is filled with a great bar and a friendly atmosphere. Can't go wrong with a a Juicy Lacie and a cold draft. Super service and great tasting food! I highly recommend it when you're really hungry.
google avatar

Melissa F.

Yelp
This is a really cute place for a casual drink/dinner. The service was great. We ordered an ahi tuna wrap to split. Be aware they only serve beer and wine here. We did find out shortly after arriving that they'd changed their hours and were closing soon. We probably wouldn't have chosen the place had we known they were closing soon. It was a little rushed to get the dinner order placed, but I understood the reasoning. Website needs to be updated.
google avatar

Jefe H.

Yelp
The beer here cannot be beat so don't even ask. They have such a huge selection. Today... especially IPA's... I can't even tell you.. I'm overwhelmed... Now, ... O here the food here is excellent. My friends say it's one of the best. Former pub food at it finest. I try to stop here as often as I can.
google avatar

Yelp
If I could give Stein and Vine more than 5 stars, I would. If you've never been, do not be put off by the shopping center or the Pub sign. Idk why they never changed it from the dive bar that was there before them, but it's part of the charm now. The food is always amazing, the portions are large, and I love that half the menu is always available while the other half changes. They are great at posting it in social media so you can take a peek before you go. The rotating menu is fun for me and I almost always order off of it. My spouse is less adventurous, so it's nice for him to know he can fall back to a burger if he doesn't like the daily specials. Their tots are the best and come with most meals. They also have great beer.

Yelp
Really nice local restaurant , interesting menu community atmosphere. If you have a chance give a try !

Yelp
Best secret in Brandon. Been going here since it opened. The fish and chips is amazing along with their delicious tartar sauce. Everything is made from scratch and it shows.
google avatar

Adrianne S.

Yelp
This is the spot to go! My husband and I go here for our date nights. We love that the menu changes daily, which you can find on their instagram. The food is amazing every time! We went the other night for the chopped cheese and the pastrami sandwich on a pretzel bun, the spicy chili, and their cookie dough cheesecake. I can't say one bad thing. 10s all around! The service is great, even been there on crazy busy nights and you know they are doing their best even spred thin. When the dinner is over, the best suggestion is to go over to bin+board for dessert or a delicious drink
google avatar

Yelp
Great decor, friendly staff and people, great food and drinks. Don't let the outside appearance deceive you. Great local spot.

Julie B.

Yelp
You won't be disappointed! Panko crusted Shrimp, pineapple, slaw with pickled onions..OMGOSH My hubby ordered the Elk Burger with tater tots covered in cheese and jalapeños. We will be back!

Jane S.

Yelp
Attentive service. Food Is always good. Good variety . Menu does change ! Keeps the food interesting. Ambiance is relaxed and casual . Welcoming .
google avatar

Yelp
Nice dive bar! Great service. We were there with a large group and our servers were very kind and patient. They have a really good and wide beer selection.

Austin G.

Yelp
If you don't like this place, or have a negative review that you post/posted, you simply have no taste and unfortunately are hard to please. 15/10 and I've been coming for 10+ years. Rotating menu is unique unlike any other. If they ran out of what you wanted it's because of a small kitchen & limited items. Is what it is. But by far the best restaurant in the area. Absolute hidden gem
google avatar

Don M.

Yelp
I only had chili, tots, and beer but all three were done perfectly. I will be back to try more. The chili should win awards, and the service was very good too. Old school.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't care here ever but when I do I'm impressed and it's quite lovely for being in a weird plaza. Food is yummy. I wish they would come to fish by it but I totally get not wanting to come ro Fishhawk but if anyone could stay open it might be them.
google avatar

Yelp
I have been here a few times now and generally love it but I've noticed that they often run out of dishes or ingredients. I ordered the Elk Burger this past weekend and couldn't taste the fig spread. I ate around the edges of the burger by the time I got the waitress. I asked for some more fig jam because I couldn't taste it, she went to get some, then came back to tell me that they ran out which is why I couldn't taste it. Took the rest home and added pepper jelly. They should have told me that to begin with and I would have ordered something else. Just need better supply to meet demand and some disclosure.

Yelp
First off Staff was very friendly and attentive. Another Gem in an unassuming strip mall. This place has a heavyweight reputation and delivers. I love the specials, the rotation and diversity makes for lots of welcomed choices to choose from!!! Brussel sprouts are a hope to stay trend that's several years going and genuinely need to be a staple on most menus (if you are a kitchen of cooks). Wonderful special this week and they 100% delivered. Green, salty, sweet and cooked al dente . Do not know if that term applies to veggies but who cares. Perfect texture throughout and crispy on the outside. 10/10 Potato Soup was very delicious and at 5.99 a real deal. I'd pay a little extra for a piece of sourdough but let's not be picky! Thank you so much and if you are a beer drinker I hear wonderful things!
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
Unfortunately I was with a party so I was not able to take pictures of the food but it was all very tasty. The portions were small ( we picked appetizers) and the prices were somewhat on the reasonable side especially since the location is in Mercato and it has a slight sexy vibe. Definitely a good first date venue! Good food, nice decor and unique menu. I will definitely be going back and trying new dishes. I am so excited they opened their doors to SW Florida!
google avatar

K M.

Yelp
My husband and I went to Stein and Vine while looking for a good burger at a local establishment. This hidden gem is easy to miss, you have to look for the red PUB sign in a strip mall that includes Dollar General and wait outside in order to get a table. My husband had the bacon burger, the burger, being a combo of ground beef and ground bacon. I had the wedge salad with blackened grilled shrimp. The food was cooked perfectly and was very good. They also had one of our favorite beers on tap (Allagash) so we'll definitely be going back again! I would give it a 4.5 if I could.
google avatar

Cassandra S.

Yelp
First time here. The pork belly buns and egg and Brie burger were both amazing. Definitely get tater tots as your side. as We'll be back.
google avatar

Esteban T.

Yelp
The staff and the restaurant were nice and welcoming as usual. It's just the Twin Brahn Hot Dawgs menu item sounded good, but the hotdog itself was not hot and it had a weird taste to it. I do not recommend it, definitely order anything else. Still such a nice restaurant to visit (:
google avatar

C R.

Yelp
Had a couple of their beer selections that were fine. I had the steak sandwich that was below average Wife & son had 2 different taco things that were small (just 2 tacos. They were both just ok. 2 other sons had the chicken cordon Mac n cheese. Everything was just ok Bill was around $130 b4 tip
google avatar

Yelp
*take-out review* I ordered the Fish + Chips special and it was tasty as well as plentiful in size.. The order was done when I arrived and still warm once I ate it at home. It came with the obvious Fish + Chips but also with coleslaw and tartar sauce (only one is included in the price, for extra it's 50 cents per sauce). The coleslaw was wrapped in some type of parchment which I felt was one of the only downside as it gave the coleslaw a bit of a chemical flavor. For this I would suggest maybe a paper container or another container or choice for the slaw. I ended tossing it but was still pleased with my overall meal.
google avatar

Shari Z.

Yelp
This is a strip mall pub. It was very comfortable. I ordered the softshell crab tacos. They were delicious. They had a nice sauce on them. Very tasty. My husband had their cheeseburger. It was enormous. He absolutely loved it. The service was very good, but it was a Thursday afternoon at about 4 o'clock so there weren't many patrons in the restaurant. They had An extensive wine and beer menu, which is really nice. The hubby and I would like to go back there again.

Anastasia N.

Yelp
Always, always delicious and on point for flavors. I love the rotating menu and beers on tap are always cold and FULL!

Brian S.

Yelp
This place is always solid with their menu options and always slamming food! Service/servers are super nice, but sometimes they can seem a bit overwhelmed and a bit slow (not enough for a real complaint nor not enough to make me not want to come back!)
google avatar

Tonya F.

Yelp
Very good and quick service and the waiter was really good. Food was great as well as o like the unique menu. It was my first time and plan to go back again in the near future. Location is close to my house which is convenient.
google avatar

Wayne Z.

Yelp
When it comes to a nondescript place in a strip mall with only PUB as the sign, you know it can go 1 of 2 ways. It'll either be a total hole in the wall dump or a pleasant under the radar experience. Luckily this is the latter of 2. Been here twice during visits to the Brandon area. If you like good beer and solid food, both on a nice rotating basis, this is definitely the place for you. Offering more than 20 taps and a good variety of food options (pig wings are always a great appetizer), the only "gripe" is that they make you wait outside to meet the hostess before you get seated. Plenty of seating though inside with 2 sides offering bars and tables on each so have never had to wait (at least on a weeknight). Worth dropping in for sure, I know I'll be back.
google avatar

Darrin V.

Yelp
The Cobb Salad I had tonight was an absolute joke. Never going back. Literally a short order Waffle House cook that thinks he's a chef running this place. How do you destroy a salad? A child can make a salad. Dressing was terrible and the greens were tuff. LOL Took an hour to get the flavor out of my mouth.
google avatar

Donny F.

Yelp
Stopped by again. The beer selection is amazing. Started with the lobster bisque and it was very good. Finished with the loaded tots and maybe one of the best pastrami sandwiches I have ever had starved on a pretzel bun.
google avatar

Tiffini A.

Yelp
Elk burger was out of this world fantastic! She crab bao bun appetizer was outstanding! The ambiance was super cool. Wait staff on point. I was too busy eating to get pics, sorry . Please open up a place in Wesley chapel!! You gotta stop by and eat at this hip and funky joint
google avatar

Yelp
Highly recommend! On our way home from Disney and flying out if Tampa airport. Seated quickly and welcomed by friendly and courteous staff. Clean and relaxed atmosphere. Good fish dip and mozzarella caprese salad. Tuna tacos, Lacy burger and grouper cheeks were enjoyed by all! They had a pineapple cider on tap. Thank you for a great first dining experience!
google avatar

Renee S.

Yelp
The bum stinger Philly was amazing! Wow! Also every time I'm here the beers do not disappoint. Tonight I went with a mojito beer that was pretty astounding. Service was great. I'll be back!
google avatar

Phuong Dung N.

Yelp
I dont understand the hype bc food was pretty mediocre. Nice service tho. It probably has high reviews due to lack of quality food in the area.
google avatar

BH S.

Yelp
Info about Stein and Vine popped up online so we went to check it out. Nice surprise! Everything was delicious. Steak with mashed potato and broccolini. Also, tried buffalo blue burger and pig wings which were a little too dry and chewy but very flavorful. And the chicken strips with gravy were a great combination. Will be back soon and often.

Yelp
What an amazing, wholesome and delicious experience! Not only is the food absolutely INCREDIBLE, but the service is outstanding! If you're looking for a local secret spot, this is where you wanna be! 10/10! Can't wait to visit again soon!
