Wow, this place is amazing! It feels like I’m living in the 60s. The atmosphere is very sophisticated and fancy. I was on the bed with my boyfriend — I liked it, but the TV was a bit too close. Next time, I’ll choose the chairs. The highlights were: we had wine and beer, and I booked the popcorn and Mexican food through the website. When we arrived, the food and drinks were already on the table. I loved that!!!

I decided to take a solo day for myself, & totally switch off from the world and what a decision it was. I went to see Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning at The Stella – and honestly, this cinema is a dream. From start to finish, the experience felt like a luxurious escape from the world. First off, the armchairs. Oh my god. Big, beautiful, and cosy, spaced far enough apart that going alone felt completely natural and comfortable. You’re not crammed next to anyone, and every seat has its own side table and lamp. The layout is intimate, but not intrusive. Just perfect. The cinema itself? Pristine. Staff? So lovely – one male staff member in particular stood out. A sweet young server offered me a taste test of the “Vivian” cocktail before I committed (which, let’s be honest, is amazing as there’s nothing worse than paying for a cocktail you don’t like) but it was delicious. 😋 Before the movie started, I sat in the front lounge area, reading and sipping my drink in peace. It felt like a proper little escape. Then, once seated, I ordered a second drink and some cheese nachos to my chair – wow. Little VIP experience in itself. These weren’t your average cinema nachos. We’re talking real melted cheese poured on top, with extra jalapeños (freshly cut, not on the menu – a spicy touch I loved!) A little tip though: go to the toilet before the movie starts. The setup includes poufs and footrests at every chair, which are great for comfort and storage – but if you need to get out mid-movie, you’ll be doing some very polite manoeuvring (or light hopping) to reach the aisle. Honestly, I had an incredible time and left feeling relaxed, content, and a little indulgent in the best way. I’m hoping to make this a new tradition – going solo to The Stella, switching off completely, and giving myself the treat of slowing down and enjoying the moment. Highly recommend this little solo cinema ritual to anyone. ✨

The most aesthetic cinema in town really! We loved the place! The 50s vibes are just so good, food and cocktails amazing! You can even get served hot food at your seat. The comfort of the chairs is unreal! Hope we’ll be dining there as well, the place looks fab!

I went here today with my girlfriend to watch “While you were sleeping” and we had a great time. The atmosphere at this cinema / old theatre is to write home about. It is super well maintained and there is such a nice and relaxed vibe to it. We watched the movie from a couch on the balcony and it was great. The couch is super comfortable with lots of space! I’m normally not a huge fan of old movies but it felt right to watch an old movie in this setting and I wasn’t disappointed: it was a very entertaining movie. We will definitely return to Stella in the future for other movies!

Fabulous venue. A special treat. Very comfortable, love the decor. Tickets were very reasonable for the afternoon showing of How to Train your Dragon. Love the table service. A special venue that needs to be used and protected! A great place for a date night or to treat someone special. A step back in time!

Great time here watching nightmare on elm Street. Only thing to note is that the audio is echoey since it's a theatre type room but still fantastic seats and atmosphere. Love the leg rests. Had food in the bar upstairs as well which was surprisingly good! Nice chicken wings and burgers.

Fabulous cinema, feels really special for a date night or a special occasion. Food and drinks are lovely, and staff have been fantastic any time I've visited. Great for accessibility too - they offer a free companion ticket, and for wheelchair users, they can choose any row and opt to stay in their wheelchair or transfer to one of the comfy armchairs. Much better than the local omniplex in this regard. Strongly recommend!

A magical cinema experience like no other! The Stella Cinema in Rathmines is hands down the most beautiful and unique cinema experience in Dublin. From the moment you walk in, you're transported back in time with its stunning 1920s decor, plush armchairs, and vintage charm. The attention to detail is incredible—velvet couches, footstools, and even table service make it feel more like a luxury lounge than a typical cinema. The bar upstairs is equally gorgeous and perfect for a pre- or post-movie cocktail. The food and drink options are top-notch and can be brought straight to your seat. It’s the perfect place for a special date night or just treating yourself to a proper movie-going experience. A true gem—worth every cent!

Yelp
Hands down my favorite cinema ever. I adore the 1920's Art Decor style, it feels like such an elevated experience when you're viewing a movie in the auditorium. The lamps next to your seat give such a cosy feeling to the place whilst still feeling like you're enjoying a luxurious experience. And on top of that the fact you can get your food and drink brought down to you during the movie saves you from having to get up and miss any parts of the movie is amazing! 100/10 staff are great also.

Yelp
Just arrived back home after a really disappointing night at your Rathmines branch. We're covered in food & beer along with most of our belongings after a fight that broke out in the balcony. As you will have heard by now, a gentlemen was allowed re-enter the cinema despite being ejected minutes before, to continue his disagreement with the couple sat behind him. Upon re-entering, he proceeded to pour beer on them to which they responded by throwing food; destroying ourselves and the couple's who were seated around us. Our seat was left in such bad condition that we were unable to be reseated, as were approximately 4/5 other couples. Others left out of fear. Many of us had purchased food and drinks that were left behind or destroyed. When I approached your manager to inform him, he could not have been ruder or less interested. He informed us that nothing could be done and allowed the culprits to resit while numerous others had little choice but to end their night. To quote "I'll watch them and if they fuck up again, I'll do something about it". His failure to deal with the situation as it escalated has absolutely ruined a great night for so many people including ourselves as we celebrated our 5 year anniversary. So disappointed to be writing this as we are frequent customers and massive lovers of your cinema. Is there a particular reason why these individuals were not removed from the screening?

Yelp
What a fantastic place. Full disclosure, I work in repertory and fresh film programming, and as such as am classic theatre geek. This restored space has all you can desire from a theatre - great films and a wonderful classic setting. But add an upstairs cocktail lounge, crystal chandeliers, plush red leather seats, and in-movie table service, and you've got an experience. All this doesn't come cheap, and the table service can be annoying (I'm a purist), but the drinks are excellent and the staff courteous. Visit The Stella and prepare to be a amazed.

Yelp
Waited a couple of days to post this as I really like the look of the place since the refurb and wanted to give them a chance but so far their customer service is appallingly bad and as long as it stays this way, no amount of art deco or cool cocktails can make it worth it. I was booking tickets for a film through Stella's online booking form and accidentally selected the wrong date. Noticed as soon as the tickets were paid for and confirmed so I had a check through their FAQs to find out what to do. It's a mistake anyone could make. Clearly written disclaimer states that no refunds or exchanges will be given (well, that's kinda harsh - most cinemas around do, because, well, things come up sometimes - but okay, clearly stated), but as this had been an honest mistake and had happened *seconds* ago, I thought surely that if I explained via the contact email address surely someone could sort me out with the correct date (for which tickets were still available). I was apologetic. I provided the booking details and a thorough explanation. Two days later I'm still waiting for even a cursory reply. Seriously, Stella, not a great way to get your business off the ground. At €19-something a ticket, you can do better. And I hope you do.

Yelp
We visited this newly open cinema on Rathmines just to go to the bar - were able to get a walk in for 4 at around 7.30 on a Wednesday. it's an awesome art deco space upstairs overlooking the main street. Beautiful chandeliers, red velvet banquettes and lovely mood lighting transport you back to a byegone art-deco era. There's a lovely range of delicious cocktails at EUR11-12 each, good selection of Wicklow Wolf craft beers and some nibbles. Food was slightly underwhelming (we had parmesan fries, risotto balls and tuna poke salad (which was the least good)) but the atmosphere and service was lovely, full of locals out to check out the posh new cinema. On the way out I peeked into the balcony of the cinema as they had just opened it up for the second showing and it looks lush - huge leather recliners to watch the movie from. Downstairs apparently they even have lounge beds but I didn't see those. Highly recommended to check out and feel special...

Yelp
Definitely overrated. Got one of the beds on the front row. The sound was really awful. We could not decipher the majority of the plot in the film. Left half way through and requested money back. Too expensive and not worth it. Won't be back.
