The Stillery is really close to where I live and I've been here before, but I think they have made some improvements since last I was here. I arrived on a Friday evening about 6:30 PM and was seated right away. There were plenty of TV's with various sports action airing. After perusing the menu, I opted for the Tuna Tartar with avocado, and the BBQ ribs, which came with slaw, fries, and a dinner salad. All of my food was delicious, the service was attentive, but the major flaw of the place was the pace of the meal. For instance, they brought out my appetizer and salad at the same time, where I would have preferred to have them one at a time. AND while I was about halfway through the salad and Tartar, they showed up with my ribs! So I asked them to take them back to the kitchen and hold them for me. The salad was fresh and the Tartar was delicious and a generous portion. The ribs were mostly tender and flavorful, and the sides were also good. All in all, despite my negative comments about the pace of the meal, it was a pleasant evening, with delicious food, and I definitely will be going back. I'll just communicate with them about how I'd like the order of the food to come out.

Great place for a cocktail after a round of golf. Excellent food as well - in my 3 years of patronage, I've never had a bad meal!

It was ok at best. Brusselsprouts came out first. Worst ones I ever had, barely cooked and no flavor. Mac n cheese came later and was amazing, pizza was ok at best, not a lot of flavor either. Was more worried about dust and dirt around glasses and right above the bar. The bathroom is also nasty for having a higher class.

Poutine yummy guacamole fresh tasting service (Diane)very neglectful. Had to walk to the bar to order another drink. Waited for check too long.

Ordered Whiskey Burger and Chicken Alfredo. Not what I expected at all. Whiskey burger is a NoNoNo. The alfredo is okay. The pictures will say it all. Very bland and the quality isn't there for the price. Can't risk a do over!

We ordered for a 7:15 delivery and it showed up at 6:15. The food (a cheese burger, the Pebble Beach sandwich, and wings) was disgusting. Chewy and rubbery.. All of it.

The Stillery at Sterling Farms could use a complete makeover. It has changed names and hands over the years and it has never been quite as good as when Robin was the Friday night bartender. She brought life to the place. On a recent Saturday night The Stillery was depressing. Nothing lively about the staff. The burgers were over-cooked (ordered rare and medium rare). And the place was surprisingly empty on a Saturday night at 7pm. Not a great vibe at all. Perhaps the new owner is only concentrating on the higher-end restaurant on the property called The Royal Green. My husband and I had a much more positive dining experience there a few weeks prior on a Friday night. Wonderful hostess named Thalia and great bartender Miguel. Food was better but of course a lot more expensive. My tuna steak was tough and veiny and I won’t order it again but would definitely return to The Royal Green. But not The Stillery.

It pains me to write this review because this restaurants food is my comfort food! I have gastroparesis which causes food aversions. It can be really hard to force myself to eat sometimes. When this happens, I know I have this place as my safe food. I had placed an order earlier in the night because I had not eaten all day and knew I needed to. I got a text saying my food was approaching soon, and then another saying my food was delivered. But I did not get a direct picture and text from the delivery driver which I normally do. I called the restaurant to see what was going on and was told it said it was marked from their driver that the food was hand delivered but the driver was not answering his/her phone. I knew automatically this couldn’t be true because I have very specific notes stating to always leave the food on my porch because I have 2 large dogs that don’t like strangers. I would never have a driver hand deliver the food to me for the drivers own safety! I know the food was not stolen as I live down a very private driveway and no one would have access to my porch without also driving all the way down to our house. And I went outside within 60 seconds of the text message arriving. So now I’m left without any food and questioning if I can trust my food to get delivered in the future. They need drivers they can trust, because the food is amazing

Yelp
Went here for dinner with friends before a show. Food and service were good overall. If you are looking for quiet you should look to sit inside. Overall everyone in our party was happy with their meal. Menu has many options. Would go back.

Debbie L.

Yelp
Staff is always friendly and food is served quickly. Menu is varied and works for pre- theater dining.

Yelp
This place makes the best Salads and burgers. We've been going for years and have to say, they never disappoint! Service is always good, atmosphere inside can get a little loud but all in all, great place, great value!

Yelp
I was not happy with the lunch I had at The Stillery today. I ordered the Chicken Piccatta & there were no capers in it. That is the main reason I ordered it, for the capers. The sauce was very bland & there was very little of it. I sent it back to the kitchen, but it came back to me & the waiter said there were no capers in the kitchen. Why offer a dish for which you haven't the ingredients? When I got the bill, I see that it had been rung up as Chicken Rigatoni - not what I'd ordered.

Yelp
While staying in the beautiful upscale state of Connecticut we had a late lunch at The Stillery . This welcoming quaint and quiet restaurant overlooks the beautiful golf course grounds. We choose to sit at the upstairs patio with the soft breeze and beautiful green view. We were welcomed by lovely Sharon and staff. Bread is not offered but we ordered salad and potato skins that satisfied our appetite. The Cocktails were very good and reasonable. We also had the margarita pie loaded with basil but unfortunately it lacked flavor and crust was under cooked. I kept that quite until now. Would have been nice if we were offeres parmigiana cheese, spicy pepper flakes and garlic like the table near by. Oh well! My hub had the Hole in one Burger and raved that it was one of the best loaded burgers ever. Not only that but the fries were cooked to perfection and the Cole Slaw tasted homemade, because it probably was. Our darling aunt enjoyed her burger platter just the same! I must add that the meals came out in a timely fashion and at perfect temperature which we appreciate very much! After our meal we walked inside and all agreed this restaurant and bar was very welcoming and quaint. Reminded us of a Cheers setting. Best of all we had a lovely visit with our beloved Aunt Julie whom we love with all our heart. Thank you Stillery for this memorable experience with family. When in the area we will return and we highly recommend!

Yelp
Love this spot! We call it our club as it's at a golf course but you don't have to join as it's public, lol, super view over the course. Wines have been upgraded which is super. Good burgers and quesadillas. Nice servers, good prices, great mid priced option in the area and everyone we have taken there has loved it too. Try it because you will like it as well!

Ron T.

Yelp
A great venue on a nice day. it was 80 the day we went and the patio has coverings on the windows and no ventilation, so it was like being in a greenhouse. We ate inside instead. My Cali Wrap was very good. I upgraded to the sweet potato fries which were mushy. Waiter said that's how they always come out. Didn't eat those. My wife had the Mango Salmon Salad. I had a bite of the salmon which was pretty good. Service was good. Would have given it a 4th star if the fries were edible.

Griffin M.

Yelp
Not a bad experience after golf, food was okay. Poutine and Greek salad was good, wouldn't recommend the pizza.

Yelp
Just passing through on our way home over the holidays, this quaint restaurant overlooking a golf course was warm and inviting. We were able to sit on the enclosed patio and have a pretty view of the golf course! The menu had many options and there was even a specials menu. I ordered the gnocchi and it was delicious. My husband had a burger and he said it was good. The waiter was quick and our food was out before we knew it. We would definitely consider stopping in next time we drive through.

Yelp
Came for a birthday party of 14 folks. ENTRANCE - the pub is a bit challenging to find unless u know where it is. This is because the entrance is to the golf course. PARKING - not an issue as it is ample but few spots close to the restaurant. But the walk isn't awful. AMBIANCE - very rustic and pub looking. Nice long bar. Plus tables on a balcony that are nice. MENU - typical pub and grub. No gluten-free options for those where this matters. Standard appetizer selections. Lots of sandwich choices. Limited entree choices but it covers steak, chicken, pasta, and salmon for fish. Menu prices slightly higher than average. APPETIZERS - we shared a few. Wings were a positive but sticky. The potatoes Au groton fair at best. I didn't try the nachos as they looked very oily. ENTREES - I can only rate my steak. I ordered medium rare and it came very well done. Plus I noticed that others were served the wrong meals so the plates were shuffled around. Not good. Plus the timing was awful, between the first things out of the kitchen and the last at least 15 minutes. SERVICE - our waiter, who by the way was the only one for 14 people was doing the best he could. He was nice but could benefit from being more congenial if he wants better tips. Clearly he was new, young, and inexperienced. VINO - I had the house Cabernet that was lower quality than the average that you encounter. But I am a snob so take this with a grain of salt. PRICES - again I was not the host so never saw the bill but from the menu $$$ would be appropriate for this local.

Yelp
I am so disappointed and disgusted by how I just spend 71 dollars on two orders of pizza and wings. The wings was so hard and over cook and taste like there where two days old. The pizza was burned and the cheese tasted weird. Call up and told them about this and got a reorder of wings. This is terrible you not suppose to have horrible pizza and wings.

LuAnn L.

Yelp
Three of us went on Sunday. My husband was giving them both his thumbs up for the burger recommended by the waitress. My Tuna patty was sooo good with so many nacho chips around it. I never liked nacho but I love the patty buried in it. The steak was overcooked but the chef was kind enough to redo one for us. We shall come back without a doubt.

Robert L.

Yelp
Super friendly staff, nice cozy atmosphere, especially on a Summer day and good food that gets better each time. I just wish more people would come here so it would have a bit more energy - They need more music like an Irish pub vs. Blue Plate special. Sometimes, they're understaffed and that's a big problem with service.

Tracy A.

Yelp
DON,T EVER USE THEM FOR DOOR DASH DELIVERIES! They DO NOT use door dashers for their delivery service. I waited OVER an hour for my order. Unacceptable.

John V.

Yelp
While this restaurant is convenient to seeing shows at Curtain Call (literally shares a parking lot with the theater), the food leaves A LOT to be desired. We started with the nachos which were in fact, very tasty (excellent guacamole). But our joy ended there. Two people in our party ordered the "Jumbo" shrimp scampi -- which was served with small to medium shrimp. Odd. But even worse was that it was flavorless. It wasn't even a true garlic scampi sauce. I also had ordered the lobster bisque -- which never arrived. We had some time to burn before the show, so we risked ordering dessert. One in our party ordered the lemon coconut cake which was apparently delicious. Sadly, because they were out of the chocolate pot and the mousse cake, my other friend and I ordered the chocolate fudge cake which was so dry that I couldn't even attempt a second bite without finding a waiter to refill my water glass. The Stillery is a nice looking restaurant in a convenient location to the theater with okay (but not good) service. However, the most memorable aspect of our experience was the poor to mediocre food (other than the nachos and lemon coconut cake). Definitely not worth the inflated prices that they charge. Perhaps, they should invest in a trained chef. We won't be returning. EVER.

Gerry D.

Yelp
Food was good, along with service. Will definitely come back. Our new Mackensies! Hidden gem

Jeff K.

Yelp
My wife and I took our two granddaughters to see a play at Curtain Call. We went to The Stillery because it is on the same property as the theater and would thus be convenient. Each of us ordered something different, and all us were pleased with our choices. Our server was pleasant and efficient. We ate out on the porch overlooking the golf course, and the view was delightful. We will definitely come back.

Paula M.

Yelp
The food and atmosphere are average but the service is dreadful. I've been there twice but probably won't be back. They only had a handful of tables each time and had to flag down a server. When I waved to the bartender because there were no servers around he asked if we needed anything?? A menu perhaps. My friend ordered a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich and neither was grilled.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service at this restaurant after reading some of the previous reviews. We were on our way to a show and had no reservations. The Hostess was most accommodating. She was running a tight ship. I overheard her say to the staff that they needed to hustle to get us all out in time for the show, which we did. The food was coming out of the kitchen fast, so we switched from drinks and appetizers to a full meal. The chicken Madeira was delicious. We even had time for dessert. The place is an old fashioned golf course bar. Wood from floor to ceiling, but it was nice and clean. There's outdoor dinning on the covered terrace with heaters. Our waitress was not not the chattiest, but she was courteous and efficient. Checked on us multiple times even though it was quite busy.

Sandra G.

Yelp
Where to start...even with a reservation no one greeted us and eventually told to seat ourselves. Waitress was hardly efficient with no warmth nor personality. House salad was good, shrimp scampi had no flavor not edible. Hamburger overcooked with a smidge of cheese. Took 2 requests to get extra ketchup and when ketchup arrived, bottle was still sealed shut. Follow up from waitress didn't come till end of meal. Run don't walk away from The Stillery Restaurant!

Kate Howley S.

Yelp
I ordered a personal pizza. When it arrived, it was pure charcoal. I have never seen food so burnt in my life. I could not even eat it! The manager promised me a full refund. She said that she put it through. She did not. My credit card company informed me that Royal Green had not canceled the order. I tried reaching out to them again and could not get through. Poor food and poor service.

Yelp
Placed a Grub Hub order for a burger, quesadilla, salad and a Mac and cheese. Pleasantly surprised by the overall quality, portion sizes and taste! Everything was packaged neatly, the fries remained crisp and proteins cooked perfectly. One star off for a few wilted and browning lettuce leaves in the salad. Some may write this place off as a standard 19th hole but it's actually a hidden gem of your craving pub food. Overall a great option for American bar food if you don't want to deal with downtown Stamford riff raff.

Yelp
It's become a regular for us. Great hamburgers and ribs, lots of good sandwiches, and some really interesting and nicely done specials. If the weather permits, sit out on the porch overlooking the golf course.

Beth L.

Yelp
Good food, nice staff. There's a lovely covered porch that is heated in the winter. Convenient place to go for a meal before or after a Curtain Call show or for a beer after golfing. I am taking away one star because the kitchen can be very slow. If you need to make a show on time, I would go early.

Yelp
Big change in food quality and service since the opened in Nov 2019. Menu is more extensive as is the beer selection

Yelp
So I surprised my mom on Easter coming from 300 miles away. We were just looking for a simple meal on Easter. When we arrived there was one table of 6 just finishing. With no one else there the service was terrible, the wings were heavily battered, calamari was salty, and the soup was cold. We ordered salads as a main course my moms steak salad s burnt beyond eatable, my turkey salad had 4 thin slices of turkey. The meal here was a 101 dollar mistake.

Jayasudha J.

Yelp
So my husband wanted to throw me a surprise birthday party and called them. They were not accommodative at all. said minimum package must be 30 at least. we were around 19. Not only was the person non accommodative but also indifferent, definitely very poor customer service. They lost our business for life. On the other hand, my husband then called Zody's and not only did we introduce 8 other families to Zody's but they said they'll definitely go back there:). They are the opposite of The Stillery in every possible way. I work at a school and now Zody's has our vote and reservation for 35 people for our Holiday party, more reasonably priced than Stillery and way better service. If you don't believe me, compare both and you will see Zody's is way better.

Yelp
Very nice OUTDOOR DINING on a covered, heated porch overlooking the golf course. Decent American pub food with plenty of VEGAN options and quick, efficient service. Great place to dine if you're attending a show at Curtain Call Theater, right next door.

Jesse A.

Yelp
The stillery and the royal green are very great locations. If you want high end food at a reasonable price then this location is perfect for you. We had our mothers 50th birthday at their location and if giving more then 5 stars was an option we would. It was an amazing experience and the ownership makes sure the customer gets the finest service. The food is amazing to say the least. The location is beautiful and the ownership is professional. If there is anything you need, they do everything in their power to accommodate.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Big upgrade from old Zodys at Sterling. Whiskey jam and BBQ burgers juicy and tasty. Includes fries (these were only ok - bit chewy), slaw and pickle. Garlic Parmesan wings also tasty. Decent mix of draft beers (Bad Sons, Two Roads, Six Point and the usual InBev slop). It is pricier than Zodys but the food is worth it. UPDATE: Went back. BBQ chicken salad also a winner. Only thing I'd advise against are the specialty cocktails which are far too pricey for size ($16 for a watery 4oz Manhattan). Stick with beer and wine.

Lizmara M.

Yelp
Not bad, although I wish the pizza had more dough it seemed thinned crust, not my preference. The turkey was definitely worth it.

Scott K.

Yelp
It's not a coincidence that this place is empty after a round of golf (or any time of day). The food is sub par, the drinks are measured out in a tiny shot glass and way overpriced. When it was Zodys, this place was busy after a round of golf or at 3pm on a Friday in the winter. Here is my advice: Put your oven to 375, heat up those Costco chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks you have stored in the freezer of your home and go to town. Once it is cooked, pour yourself a glass of scotch from your at home bar all for 75% less than this place.

Art M.

Yelp
Great food and service, couldn't be happier. New menu items but the burgers are the best and cooked to perfection. Definitely a giant step up from Zod's.

Deena R.

Yelp
This place had very good food at good prices when it was Players Club and later Zody's. Now it's so overpriced. The hamburgers which were juicy when it was Zody's, now taste sub-par, as if the meat is a cheaper cut. The prices are so high! I paid $13.49 for a small plate of nachos. The food quality is low, the prices are high. The sandwiches are all 12.99 and above. The only dish I've liked so far is the 12" pizza which is thin crusted and tasty. The pizza and the beautiful atmosphere on the golf course are the only reasons I'd give the place the 2 stars.
