Though there were a few faux-pas, one of the best features of this unique menu include the rotating hand cut fries. We first ordered the "Franky Fries" as an appetizer for the table of three ,which were hand cut and smothered with buffalo chicken and scallions.
To help slosh down the fries, I ordered a caramel apple martini and hubby got an IPA. While fries and martinis don't mix, the martinis were delicious, though instead of drizzling the caramel on the glass, it was mixed in with the apple liqueur, which turned the drink an unpleasant brown color instead of a fresh green.
The disappointment came with the meals themselves. I ordered the Burrata Cappellaci ($26). It arrived almost cold, had no sauce and the dish was bland and flavorless. My sister in law ordered the lobster gnocchi ($36), which was also bland. My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich and said it was fine.
The most disappointing part of the evening was the service. It is one of my biggest pet peeves to not be checked on throughout the meal. Someone else besides oru waiter came to take away our dishes without anyone having checked on us. Otherwise, I would have asked for a hot plate and would have shared my general dissatisfaction with the flavor.
We NEVER order dessert, but the one dish, a "large, warm chocolate chip cookie", couldn't be passed up. It arrived a la mode, but again, it was just okay. I was picturing a monster, plate sized cookie, but it came in a mini dutch oven.
The brunch reviews sound amazing, so maybe I'll have better luck with that. If you want to give it a try for dinner, I'd stick with a nice, stiff drink and some fries.
