3 Courses for $40 During Orlando's Magical Dining Event

"Alda Rees and her husband, Joe, are behind this corner spot nestled within an Art Deco building. Its menu, displayed on the front windows, invites passersby inside to a space that may be short on real estate but utterly captivates with mint-green walls and Mason jars that hang above the glossy tiled bar. The seasonal American menu brims with nostalgic Southern inspiration, and presentations are dialed back to let ingredients shine. From local tomatoes to fresh citrus, dishes exude a homey sense. To wit: chilled shrimp is a wonderful contrast against hot fried green tomatoes, while cobia with mustard sauce and Carolina gold rice requires little augmentation. Close out with a citrus olive oil cake along with a sip from the worthy wine list." - The MICHELIN Guide

Review for The Strand Apartments – West Palm Beach The Strand Apartments has a lot going for it, but also a few drawbacks that potential renters or buyers should consider. First, the positives—the location is fantastic. Sitting in the heart of West Palm Beach, it offers beautiful views and easy access to everything the area has to offer. The staff is also excellent—friendly, responsive, and professional, which makes a big difference in day-to-day living. However, the negatives start with the building itself. While it has charm, it’s definitely showing its age and could use some updates. The elevators, especially in the parking garage, are frustratingly slow. The parking situation itself is also a bit awkward and not the most convenient. Overall, The Strand has its pros and cons. If location and good management are your top priorities, it might be worth it. But if modern amenities and smooth logistics are deal-breakers, you may want to look elsewhere. Best to visit in person and see if it meets your needs.

I’ve been living at the Strand for about 2 years and I love it here! Dale our door man is amazing! The rooftop view is to die for and our new engineer/maintenance man Cristiano is top tier when it comes to getting things fixed at quick and efficient rate! Couldn’t be happier!

I moved into The Strand in mid-June. I can honestly say that living here is like living in a four star hotel. The staff is uniformly excellent. They are attentive, kind, knowledgeable, and courteous. The building reminds me of European hotels with it's Art Deco and Contemporary decor. I highly recommend The Strand to anyone looking to live in downtown West Palm Beach. It's magnificent!

I loved living here for as long as I did. It's generally a beautiful old building in a great location. It's close to Clematis but far enough away that you don't hear the clubs and parties. There's 24hr security and a gated garage. My only criticisms are the pests, exorbitant rent, and the leasing office. It's a multi level high rise, of course there's going to be critters but there is no pest control policy for the building, everyone is on their own, if your neighbors actions encourage a pest problem you're out of luck. You'll have to hire your own pest control and deal. In my own experience drain flies were the hardest to manage because they were consistent. The roaches could be deterred pretty easily. The rent is too high for the quality of the units. White fridges, no stainless steel anywhere, laminate countertops, and painted tubs that peel. If you have $2500 to spend on a 1BR/1BA it just makes better sense to do that at a building with updated units, appliances, and amenities. The leasing office is unreliable at best and at times completely unresponsive. Overall it was still a 4/5 star experience because I'm an expert at making lemons into lemonade.

I am not one to post reviews online, but I feel compelled to do so. In an age where people take to the internet to complain and vent, those that have positive experiences rarely share. My family and I moved to The Strand in West Palm Beach sight unseen. An anxious, nervous, and excited family were met with professional and responsive staff. From start to finish, the staff took the time to FaceTime us anytime we wanted to see the place. Yes, they wanted to lease the unit. But, the care and compassion from the staff made the experience world class. We have been here for almost a year now and still feel blessed to be part of such a great building. From the front desk security, to maintenance, to the building manager, everyone does their best to make the Strand a home.

I lived here for 4 years: 1. BUGS: Ants, gnats, and cockroaches... 2. THEFT: We had our bicycles stolen the first year we were here. Neighbors also had their bikes stolen. Catalytic converters were also stolen from multiple cars parked in the garage. 3. NOISE: Many of the balcony doors in the units are very loud. The bearings on the balcony door rollers are old and worn out and make a very loud rumble/vibration when they are open/closed. The mini-earthquake noise and vibration would often prevent me from sleeping as many people would use their balcony door throughout the night to go out and smoke. Management was not very interested in helping to track down the noise or fix the balcony doors. Tiffany told us we were on our own and to place letters under residents doors to try and figure out which units the noise was coming from. Most of the other residents we contacted heard and felt the door rumble as well. One owner told us they often thought of selling their unit and moving out because of the noise. Another renter told us they would frequently wear headphones to try and not hear the loud building noises. Management is removing the carpeting and is replacing it with hard plank flooring. There should be a separate cork or rubber (or both) underlayment to absorb the noise instead of the plank flooring being directly installed on the concrete. If you value your sleep, this might not be the place for you. 4. AIR CONDITIONING: We did not have a correctly functioning air conditioner for the last 7 months. There were many days the coldest it would get in our unit was 78 degrees in our apartment and the AC would run nonstop. Management sent out HVAC repair people on four occasions to recharge the AC unit. Every single repair person told us the unit was not repairable and needed to be replaced. We sent at least 10 emails and had 5 in person talks with management trying to get our AC fixed. After 6 months without proper Air Conditioning, we decided to move out. A friend of ours who lived here did not have a functioning refrigerator for 4 months. His food would regularly spoil. Many other residents also had problems with their AC units. 5. MANANGMENT: Horrible. A rotating door of people who come and go. I think we had about 6 or 7 leasing manager or property managers. The current one Yaelys is the absolute worst. Rude, unresponsive, inconsiderate, and unprofessional are all terms that come to mind. She told my husband on two occasions that he was a liar. She also told us that it was somehow illegal that we were assigned three parking spots for our vehicles even though it stated right in our lease that we had three parking spots. She made it sound like we were doing something illegal for something that was clearly outlined and agreed to in our lease. When we complained about our Air Conditioner not working, Yaelys (manager) said we could not park in one of our assigned parking spaces any longer. We were assigned this spot 3 years prior. It was a great parking spot close to the elevator. Instead she moved us 3 floors higher and far away from the elevator. She also sent us a "notice to cure" in 7 days or face possible eviction after we complained about our AC not working. She later called and apologized to myself and my husband about this. Nothing Yaelys did or said made much sense at all. 6. MARIJUANA SMOKE: The smoke would billow up all day / every day / around the clock. It would even come up and through the floor around the HVAC unit. Management would tell us that tenants had the right to smoke marijuana because that is Florida law, even though our lease clearly stated that smoking marijuana was not permitted. We worked from home, and it was sometimes hard to work when you have a constant contact high. 7. SECURITY DEPOSIT: Like everyone else has stated, they don't send your security deposit back. It's been over 45 days and no check. They won't answer your calls or respond to 6 emails.

I rented at the Strand for a year, upon leaving I had a walk through with the Manager. Who stated everything looks great and that I can expect my security deposit returned in 30 to 45 days. It has been 70 days and still no security deposit, When I call the office which I have dozen of times and request a return call or explanation for delay they simply do not return any of my calls. I would never recommend the Strand for anyone!!!!! I don't think deserve 1 star

I lived at The Strand for almost 4 years. I was a great tenant, friends with all of my neighbors and ALWAYS paid my rent on time. My lease was up as of 1/31/21; I gave AMPLE notice to move out, cleaned the place up, and did a final walk through with the property manager, Jason, who told me I should receive the entire $2000 back. It is now June and I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY SECURITY DEPOSIT BACK. I’ve sent multiple emails, called off different phone numbers, left voicemails, and cannot get any response back. (The one response I did get was a clerical error on their end, which Jason blamed on corporate, stating their records showed I didn’t pay January, 2021 rent; that issue was resolved in less than 24 hours when i provided the cashed check. I’ve been ghosted ever since.) I’m at the point that I truly believe this garbage team of people gets paid to NOT DO THEIR JOBS.

Yelp
Love the view from the rooftop. Great place to read a book. The front desk people are wonderful as are the property managers. Just a short walk to everything!

Yelp
Convenient to all of downtown. Great water views. The rooftop deck is perfect for Sunni g and relaxing. The pool is long and swimming laps is no issue. Also the front desk people are very helpful.

Yelp
Horrible horrible horrible. Lived here for two years and have nothing but complaints. Staff is bad, elevators are broken, noise is ridiculous. Pay through the roof to live downtown for the convenience and it was nothing short of hell. If you want the college dorm room experience go ahead and get a place at the strand.
