Very kind and friendly people who know their stuff. Only thing was when I got a bridge doctor done to my guitar it was a little sloppy and not aesthetically pleasing. The job just seemed a little rushed wood wasn’t even with the little bride doctor cover. Other than that nice local shop will continue to keep coming.

My special other and I went in yesterday about an hour before close in search of a Ukulele. They have TONS! The Strum Shop ended up having much more of a variety than other stores that I'd visited, and they have competitive prices too! But the one thing that stood out was Dan, the man whom we found out owned the shop! He was INCREDIBLY helpful, answered any and ever question we had, and even took the time to give my S/O advice on building her own Ukulele. Amazing shop, amazing owners, customer for life!

I've been going to The Strum Shop for over 10 years, and I absolutely love it! As the Ukulele Whisperer, I buy all my ukuleles here because they have the best selection and quality. The staff are the nicest people you'll ever meet, always so helpful and passionate about music. Support your local music shop – they truly make every visit a wonderful experience!

I took my acoustic here for an action adjustment and it sounds sooo much better. The autism I was missing out on is crazy! I cant weigh to bring the rest of my guitars here

Came here looking for a mandolin. Not only do they have one in stock that I really liked but they were super friendly and nice people. A great little store. Mirarose's first instrument! My hubby and I were looking for some unique Easter basket fillers for babies and came across this great small/local business in Downtown Roseville! We found a cute little kids section of various instruments from maracas to drums! We ended up purchasing the Hohner Kids Tactile Single Egg Shaker and LP Rhythmix Egg Shaker! Definitely sensory play for her, she loves to shake them and carry them around! Definitely a perfect gift for babies that will keep them entertained, I want to return to get her more instruments he he! I would highly recommend The Strum Shop that's been in business for 13 years! Thank you so much for fixing my son's old Fender guitar yesterday--you did a fantastic job! We also appreciate your help in finding all the accessories we needed. Dan, you were wonderful. My daughter had recently been gifted a guitar and while tuning it, one of the strings broke. We found this local shop and the sweetest woman helped us not only replace the string but also tuned it for us. She also took the time to explain how to do it. I will definitely be returning and will be recommending for any guitar needs.

This is a little late in writing, but here goes. I needed to get my guitar set up. I went to the big box store, and they wanted to hang onto it for a couple of weeks. I went to the Strum Shop and he did it right then and there. The difference between a mom and pop shop and a corporate chain. Thank you for the great service!

It's an interesting shop with a very knowledgeable staff. Molly and Dan are super helpful. They sell a variety of string instruments and some such as the kalimba I'd previously seen only on line. The prices seem fair for a brick and mortar shop. They offer lessons and string instrument repair.

Needed to get a repair done on my son's guitar. They fixed it quickly and efficiently. The staff was friendly, and we love the convenience of location!

Good people, only reviewing a low score after noticing damages on my hard case housed 40+ year old acoustic, years after having it set up/restrung at The Strum Shop. There is a massive dent/indent on the top left neck, looks to be from a clamp? And one of tuning key/peg cover, on the back of the neck, is missing, after 40+ years. Timeframe window is long gone, since the repair was done 3+ years ago. It's unfortunate that I just noticed these damages now. Will have to find another luthier, and a replacement tuning peg/key cover.

Very experienced luthier. Identified and fixed an issue with my Martin and did a great job setting it up. Very reasonable price.

Two gentlemen helped me out with a guitar repair, I believe one of them was named Ian. I brought in my guitar and let them know I was having some buzzing on the high E string; they inspected it immediately and explained what could be causing the issue and how they will try to remedy it. They had a few repairs in front of me, so they advised it'd be ready in an hour or so. They held up their end and gave me a call when the guitar was ready, the issue was resolved, and I was a satisfied with the repair. I appreciated their kindness and professionalism. I'd definitely return for another repair if needed!

I can't give The Strum Shop a high enough rating. They are wonderful and knowledgeable about their instruments and products. They stand behind their word and work. They are friendly and work on your instrument right in front of you. If I lived closer and had more money I'd be in their store everyday. They are also involved in their community. I love this music store !

Oh yaye, I get to review this place from a totally different standpoint now. For the last few months I have had one kid taking violin and the other Ukulele. Jon Gowin has been our Ukulele instructor and my kid thinks the world of him. I have a painfully shy and particular child too, so this spoke volumes. Jon's style is laid back and fun but with structure, so progress is made each lesson. Brien Thorpe is our violin instructor, for the younger kid and he is also a great instructor. Violin is a very difficult and complex instrument so he breaks things down in a way a young child can understand. Molly and Dan have this place running smoothly, both on the scene and behind the scenes (with scheduling/billing etc). They are friendly and flexible, open to changes and requests. I've come to learn that this is a tightly knit music family. I love the vibe here and it draws birds of the same feather. Highly recommend.

Wonderful and attentive customer service. Staff is very friendly and inviting. I called ahead to make sure they had the item that I was looking for and they had it waiting at the counter for me when I arrived.

Dan was great! He looked at my guitar right when I brought it in. His technician completed his assessment in half the time that was originally stated! Great people to work with.

My daughter just started lessons and we went to a few shops and by far the best options and customer service. The selection is deceptively vast and they helped us rookies through every step of the way. Customer for life!

I took in a used acoustic guitar to be restrung and have a set up. Im a beginner player and dont know anything about guitars. I did know that it had horrible used strings and the action was super high. Guitar came back great! It is really playable now. Im really enjoying learning to play. Nice people. I also just happened to be in the store on a Saturday morning and a group ukulele class was going on. I never seen so many gray hairs playing and enjoying themselves! Awesome! I highly recommend this shop!!

Bought an Islander MT-4 tenor uke for my niece. Im currently in Kona and had my brother pick the item up in Roseville. Although i shouldve paid thru PayPal which wouldve saved me $20 it was worth it bc I needed the item to be in Sac by Saturday so Im happy that The Strum Shop had it in stock. Molly was assisting me on the phone and she did a superb job! My brother picked up the uke the day after it was purchased and walked out with ease. I found the strum shop through Google, their website was a lot easier to browse and to separate what I was looking for. I went through several websites and was overwhelmed at how unorganized everything was until I came to the Strum Shop. The only reason why i didnt pay online was because I wanted to be sure the store was legit and real lol, also my brother would be driving 40 min to this place. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone that is looking for an uke. They had some updated ukes on their site, i cant speak about the actual location because my service was through networking and phone and it was great, even down to the point where Molly texted me how the uke looked like which assured me, everything is gonna be ok! Lol

Talk about customer service!! Wow! My husband and I had just come from another guitar store where we were totally ignored. Stood there for 15 minutes waiting for someone to help us. I must have discovered that same formula the invisible man used in that old movie! lol. So we arrived at the Strumm Shop and were greeted by two women at the front desk with great big welcoming smiles on their faces! "Hi, can we help you find something today?" Well, I'm looking for a classical guitar.... there happened to be several of them hanging on the wall just a few feet from me. I was helped and allowed to try out as many guitars as I wanted and was told about each guitar. All of the prices were very reasonable. I went from one guitar to the other strumming and picking and sticking my ear on each one to get the resonance coming from each guitar. They offered to let me use a private room, but I didn't want to schlep a bunch of guitars back with me, so there I stood talking to myself about how each sounded! Long story short (?or not so short?? lol) I picked a beautiful mid price guitar that was made in Spain and it sounds just lovely! I am home now with my new guitar and I couldn't be happier about the whole experience. Thank you to The Strumm Shop!! Check them out!

I purchased my current electric/acoustic ukulele from the Strum Shop and also my current Acoustic/Electric guitar as well. I have been very happy with my purchases and I use these instruments in my current band performances. Recently I had work done on the Acoustic Guitar and after getting it back, I am totally satisfied with the work done. It plays and feels like a new guitar. They are a family owned business and totally recommend the Strum Shop for any instrument purchases and/or lessons as well.

What a gem! Roseville is so lucky to have this wonderful store. The owners are dedicated to encouraging musicians of all abilities and ages. They are helpful, friendly and have an excellent selection of ukuleles and other instruments. Their prices are competitive (please buy local!), and if you don't see what you want in the store, they will happily order it for you. They offer private lessons, group lessons, concerts, and many free community classes as well. My children and I all learned to play ukulele together here and love having such a joyful, musical activity to do together. We can't say enough good things about this business. Really enjoyed meeting the crew here. They helped put me in touch with another shop who services Martin guitars. A couple weeks later it's playing like the good ol' days.

I recommend The Strum Shop for your guitar lessons if you are a beginner adult like myself. Molly at the front desk is delightful and very helpful. Jon was my instructor and very easy going and lessons were fun. The store is clean and well managed. A big thumbs up from me!

Small shop with a decent selection. I went in for a guitar setup and the store owner helped me out with it for a fair rate. I was really happy with the job as well! He offered to make any adjustments as I saw fit, but I was already happy with the job. The staff are great here. There was one lady that helped me out at the checkout and she was the most wholesome and kind person I've come across in a while. Overall just had a great experience with this shop. I do recommend checking it out, especially if you need work done on a guitar.

This is a very nice music shop that does a tremendous amount for the Roseville area and schools. This is a new location that is twice the size of the old facility with more classrooms and a large viewing area for group strums and performances. If you don't see what you are looking for, they will try to get it for you.

I had my F horn repaired by Tague Music (through the Strum Shop). It was smooth and my horn is working wonderfully now. The staff was 110% friendly and helpful. I'd recommend them to anyone.

The Strum Shop is THE PLACE to go to for guitar work (repair). I did some homework (reading reviews of places on here) and after being screwed over (ripped off) multiple times by Skips Music, I decide to try out the Strum Shop and I'm very happy that I did! Unfortunately for me there located about an hour away from me (one way), but I'm glad I took the risk and went with them. Hands down a great place... great work, fair prices, and most importantly humble employees. I had the pleasure of having Randy do my guitars. I brought in 4 guitars and he got them done for me in about two business days. I had the necks adjusted on all of them, a pickguard replaced on one, a pickup swapped out in another, and some other things done as well. With all that said, I highly recommend them. Thank you again Randy for helping me walk my guitars out to my car!

This place was a sweet surprise! It's in a nice location, but parking is a bit difficult. That's my only complaint. Randy walked me through the basics of guitars on the market and told me so much about our Grandpa's guitar that I brought in to be serviced. It's a great place for 3 solid reasons: 1) Knowledgeable and caring staff -- never felt rushed; never felt like my lack of knowledge was ridiculed, nor did I feel patronized. 2) Sales pitches were gentle and considerate of my need to stay on a budget. I was excited to find a lovely, gently-used Fender. Because I bought a whole package, he even extended a discount! Like, WOW! 3) It's a local, non-big-box shop with personalized service. Along with that, helping the 'little guy' and supporting my local community just feels so good. Especially when getting the exact same guitar would've set me back an additional $80 on Amazon! Like, WHOA. Who knew?!? I am forever a customer. Well done Strum Shop!!

Deplorable, shoddy work. My son and I took in 3 or 4 guitars (one of these was my Fender Strat; the others were acoustic) to get a "tune up" (cleaning, new strings, adjustments, etc). We got home, and suddenly - for the first time - the frets on the acoustics were buzzing to where they were unplayable. So they said to bring them back. Dropped them off, brought them home, same problem. So once more we brought them back. Meanwhile, they called me to say my Fender was ready. I popped the case open right there on the counter, and the strings were pushed up so high they were literally crushed up against the pickup - no exaggeration. I think it's the owner who then explained that his father did the work, and he doesn't usually work on electric guitars. Well then why the hell did he work on mine? And why didn't anyone check the work? That's two strikes right there. The owner then did a 20 minute "tune up" while I waited. I was shocked, but the owner or whoever simply said he was sorry, as if he did me a favor, and then kicked out some quick, last-minute work. Keep in mind, had I not opened up the case while I was there, I would have had to make yet ANOTHER trip back to the store. And then, on the way out, we noticed that my son's electric-acoustic had a bent metal string. We walked back to the work counter, pointed it out, and they then changed it like nothing had happened. Consistently, they showed as much care and concern as a kid making a PB&J sandwich. And the acoustics? One of them still had problems due to their lousy work, but this time I had checked before bringing them home, and someone there - yes, again - made some last-minute tweaks. Never was I even offered some compensation for the gas and wasted time and wasted money due to their negligence. There are lots of places in Roseville, and especially in Sacramento, that deserve your time and money. The Strum Shop is not one of them.

Wonderful place! Fantastic selection of ukuleles, songbooks and other instruments, and a great place to get new strings or have a little work done on your stringed instruments. Caring and thoughtful owners, employees and music teachers, and a nice community performance space with an amazing calendar of fun (and often free) strum-alongs. The owners have a goal of creating a joyful musical community and we are so lucky to have them in our area!

Friendly people. It's a very family feeling when I walk in. No pressure to purchase. Good selection of ukuleles. Could be a wider selection of guitars, but what they have are good. Good teachers. Great offerings of free groups for guitar, ukulele, nylon guitar. Classes are reasonably priced.

They did a set up (mild fret work, adjusted the intonation, truss rod) on my Strat. They did a good job, took about 3 days so pretty good. It plays great now and the intonation is fixed. Overall a nice music shop.

Great old fashioned shop. The staff was so knowledgeable and nice. There's a room that's large enough for little shows. They have lessons too. Lots of ukuleles. There were people buying and selling used instruments. Not sure about pricing - I don't have any ideas what these should cost. I just got some picks for my son but the sales guys was really helpful. As with other businesses in this area parking is iffy. But worth it if you're looking to get some help on that next guitar or ukulele.

Seasons change and people come and go. One thing that never leaves is the COMMUNITY of the Strum Shop. This shop offers jam and clinics for many instruments for all ages. They have a variety of instructors. Their repair staff is knowledgeable and honest. The store's staff overall are nice and willing to help you. You are greeted as soon as you enter the shop. The prices are great and I really like the newer location. This location has enough space to set up chairs for concerts or clinics. With the addition of the parking garage, coming to the Strum Shop has never been difficult.

Long over due on my review, as I've been a customer for years. If your fairy godmother waved her magic wand and said, "What would you want in a guitar store," she'd make The Strum Shop. Great help, repairs services, lessons, and FREE lessons. Myself, I've done the Irish Slow Music Circle and, while it kicks my rear end each time, it's fun. If you go on Saturday mornings, their ukulele class is meeting and what a kick in the pants that is. About 30 folks sitting around playing their ukes. I walked in on "City of New Orleans" once. Another time it was their Christmas class. Their repair service is top notch. Sadly, I've used them. Once my beloved Guild fell over and busted the headstock pretty bad. Then minor tweaks/set ups on other guitars. Love them so much, I'd like to have them change my strings for me. Serious.

Sheree was super nice and helped me find what I needed. I'm glad I found this place, because anywhere else would have charged me way more. Randy was so helpful, and he made sure I was charged the right price. I would recommend this store to anyone interested in guitars and/or ukuleles. It really is a neat store, and they apparently have a ukulele club that meets the first Saturday of the month (I think) that has a 20 minute free ukulele lesson at the beginning (10am). Pretty cool. There's parking around the back if you don't find a spot in front.

I have been in several instrument/music stores so far in my life time and this is the ONLY 5 star worthy one! My children and I went into the Strum Shop yesterday while we were out running errands. We stopped in just to check the place out before my daughter starts violin lessons next week. Upon walking in the door I was impressed with the cleanliness and organization of the shop. We were greeted by a gentleman (I'm SO sorry I didn't catch his name) and he showed and explained to my children the difference between a electric guitar, acoustic guitar, nylon strings, steel strings, and ukeleles. After the little demo my son asked if he could try a guitar out. Not only did the gentleman let my son play a guitar but he showed him a few cords. He basically gave my son a 20 minute mini lesson. It was awesome. We are really looking forward to beginning violin lessons there next week and it's looking like we'll be starting guitar lessons soon too!! Thanks so much to the Strum Shop for being so accommodating and polite! Can't wait to come in again!!

Bought my first uke from here and the staff was VERY friendly, I knew nothing about ukuleles at the time and they recommended a couple starter ukes and gave me a brochure for beginner group lessons they hold inside the shop. I was pretty nervous about learning with other people around but I though I would give it a shot anyways. Dani was the instructor and she was so sweet, and really easy to talk to. The class had a range of ages in it and was lots of fun! Dani started with the basics of learning the different parts of the uke and by the end of the first class had us all playing a song together. Keep in mind, I'm not very musically inclined so this was a serious feat. By the end of the last week of class I could easily jam on my uke and was extremely confident in playing in front of others. I moved on to the intermediate class which was also taught by Dani and had even more fun learning more complicated chords and strums etc. Now I have a uke I keep at home and one I keep in my car that I bust out every time I'm at a chill social gathering. People are always really impressed with my uke skills and the chicks dig it! If I didn't move away from Sacramento/Roseville I would still be taking classes at this place. I love this store! A locally owned alternative to guitar center, they've ordered my last three guitars, and I've bought my last few cases, gig bags, and lots and lots of accessories from them. I also take my lessons here. Friendly people; family owned; and very focused on the community.
