We arrived at the restaurant on time at 3:15 pm, and our orders hadn't been taken for over 1 hour and 20 minutes. No one could tell us when we could place our order or when the food would arrive. After a considerable time, we asked for some bread to keep us going, but apparently the restaurant had run out.
There was no one that we could speak to about what was going on, about the time scale of when we could order food or when it would be served, or anyone who had any responsibility. Eventually, food was ordered, 4 out of 5 starters arrived, one did not arrive, one starter that should have been served hot was served cold, and it was sent back. No one could tell us the time scale for when our main course would be served.
One of our party members has recently had a stoke and he was getting very agitated and stressed. We were all getting very concerned that this stressful situation could cause another stroke. We decided that the only option left was to walk out. We did tell a member of staff what we were doing and the reason why.
We had tried to speak with members of staff many times during our visit, but unfortunately, there was little understanding of what was going on.
We had previously enjoyed meals at The Sun Feering and had recommended it to family members for what should have been an enjoyable afternoon out on Sunday 8th March. However, this experience was upsetting and stressful for all of us.
When we departed, we were approached by a gentleman who appeared to be a regular patron of the pub, accompanied by two members of staff. This interaction was the most attention we had received during our approximately 1 3/4-hour visit. The gentleman was taking photos and possibly videos of us and our vehicle. We reiterated our concern about the health of one of our party, emphasising that their attitude and behaviour could trigger another stroke.
Changing our booking status to no show, charging a booking fee, and stating that you have called the police is a clear indication of the unprofessional and poorly managed experience we have had. Our presence there was for just under two hours, no main course meals had been served by then, so there would insufficient time for the Sunday meals to be served within our allocated 2 hours and 15 minutes slot, as advertised.
