My bf and I dined in here and had the beef gyoza, miso soup, yellow and salmon nigiri, the Jay roll, and Dynamite Rolls. Everything was delicious! Server was great and attentive without being overbearing. Su Chief did great making the sushi. Will definitely come back.

Great vibe, we got gyoza. We also got 3 rolls: the one with popcorn lobster, the Una avo, and the shrimp tempura. Quick service, good quality. Would repeat! Total came up to $44 + taxes

I’ve tried Sushi at several restaurants in the down river area, and The Sushi Bar is BY FAR my #1 choice. (No competition) I ordered the Lobster Cigar- All of my big back desires were met. Do yourself a favor and place your order. They are made fresh, hot and every bite will melt in your mouth. I also ordered the Dragon roll and the chicken teriyaki roll and once again, they were also freshly made and very delicious. I found my place.

Hands down the best sushi spot in the area (and in the surrounding areas). I wasn't expecting it to be so great, but the reviews are spot-on. We tried a couple different items - California Roll, Wonder Salmon Roll, Alaskan Roll (not pictured, I ordered it to-go), and Love Roll. Everything was amazing and fresh. Of the four we tried, I highly recommend the Wonder Salmon Roll; it was delicious. I want to try a lot more things, so I plan on making the trip (about 40 minutes) several more times in the near future. It's absolutely worth the drive. The place is small, but clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I honestly can't say enough great things about this place and I absolutely highly recommend it. It has a large enough menu that everyone will find something they like. Also, a neighboring table ordered the Love Boat and it looked so pretty that I asked if I could take a photo... so, we did not order it nor try anything off it it; the photo was purely for its beauty and my Google review. For what it's worth, the couple who ordered it really seemed to enjoy it and ate about 95% of it.

We’ve ordered here many times and it’s been consistently good. The roll rotation keeps it interesting, and overall it’s a reliable spot we come back to. Occasionally there are small misses, but nothing that stops us from reordering.

The BEST sushi in Detroit! The omakase was out of this world! Kudos to the chef - every course was a delight to the palate, and we couldn't stop being amazed by every little dish that came out. Also, our server was very nice and so pleasant to talk to. The house was packed but we noticed that she attended to every person like they were the only ones there. Thank you so much for the wonderful dinner experience! We will definitely come back :)

Atmosphere: Not much to say. Comfortable, nothing special. It feels more casual than the gourmet quality of food provided. We saw another table with a roll that was ablaze. Small dining area, clean and comfortable. Food: Appetizer: Avocado Ball, Me: Chicken Fried Rice, Angry Bird Roll (don't like seafood). My wife: Rainbow Roll, California Sunrise Roll. Great food, savory, spicy and hot stuff came out hot. Chicken was meh with a few gristle bites, and my wife said the salmon was good but the tuna was meh. Service: Excellent, no issues. Friendly and considerate. Overall: Worth checking out.

Mannnn lemme tell you something!!! The lobster Cigar appetizer had me almost full just eat two pieces! It's delicious and full of flavor and fresh! Everything was splendid. I like the interior and size of the restaurant. Not too many people can fit in there so it definitely gives you more of a small group dining experience. And you definitely feel tended to by your waitress or waiter which we love. The food was very affordable. This is our new GOTO sushi spot.

Chef James has left the place so sad, same great food with a mega wait time . Had a Avocado Ball OMG Delicious . A side of house made Kimchi n Crab Sticks . She had the Chicken Bento Box. Great Sweetest Day they didn't have a clue why so busy. Yes a full house Tiffany doing a fantastic job taking care of everyone. WTF did our food take 45 minutes, who dropped the ball, seen 12 tables order received food and left before ours. Totally unexpected will never ever step foot in place again, been a dozen times. I was in Dearborn Heights MI and ordered takeout for the lunch special. A great value, superb quality and flavor. The takeout was ready when I arrived and I was on my way quickly. My orders included plenty of fresh ginger, soy sauce and a nice scoop of wasabi. I ordered tuna avocado, shrimp tempura and salmon avocado. All were delicious. I highly recommend The Sushi Bar!

Wow! Chef James is truly a master at his craft! Wonderful food and service. I had the Lobster Cigar and Mayak Tteokbokki. I would order both dishes again in a nanosecond! The appetizer (lobster & crab mix, avocado, and cream cheese in a spring roll wrapper, drizzled with spicy mayo and eel sauce) was phenomenal and Mayak Tteokbokki is a wonderful soup consisting of fish cakes, fish balls, rice cakes and kimchi in a spicy gochujang broth, and topped with green onions and shredded cheese. The soup was out-of-the-park outstanding! A shout-out to Al P for posting pics and sending me a pic of the Mayak Tteokbokki. Authentic Korean food is hard to find, especially the soups. Cannot wait to try the Soondubu Jjigae Soup next. This place is a true gem in the area. Will visit again soon.

I've never understand how restaurants the prices of their deals. Their lunch sushi deals was so great for the price but now it's not 2 for 10 sushi was great but now since they raised the price. I can order everything individually an it'll be cheaper. Anyways last time I was in the taste of the food has definitely improved. No longer dose the fried rice taste like it's burnt and not made right, even the gyoza and tempora wasn't burned. Service was still good, though I do miss some of their older services. I also know their menu so I can ordered without and some of their staff knows. Evrything looks great inside, they finally fixed their AC so it's not uncomfortable inside.

Awesome good served by awesome staff! Kids bento box was a huge amount of food for the price. All the sushi tasted great. Loved the novelty of the adult capri sun with flashing ice cubes. My spicy Korean soup had the perfect spice level- very spicy! Tons of tofu but could have used a little more seafood. Be aware it is a very small restaurant and it was freezing next to the front door. Also the cooked entrees came out a long time after the sushi so order an appetizer. Next time I am trying the Vegetarian Omakase because these chefs know what they're doing!

This is still the best sushi joint in Metro Detroit. My wife and I come about once a month and it is always a treat. Chef James always treats us like family, the wait staff is generally prompt and always trying to be attentive. As the restaurant continues to get more popular and busy they continue to keep up it seems to me. The place is clean, pleasant, and always a joy to visit. Thank you chef for your continued excellence and I look forward to visiting again soon. Oh ya, the ramen is fantastic. I don't know when it will become a full menu item, but when it does treat yourself!

Open until 10pm tonight. Ordered an avocado ball with crab inside only, jalapeño bomb and a lobster cigar, popcorn lobster special roll, Cali crunch roll, MSU and a UofM roll. $87.13. Pricey here too. Egad. Hope the food is worth it. They said it would be about 30 minutes. Food wasn't quite ready when I went inside. Had to wait a bit longer for the food be ready. 8 Tables inside and 5 counter seats. It's a bit cramped inside here. I watched the mad frenzy of food out to the table and the carry out orders too. I received a call almost 10 minutes later that chef James forgot the avocado appetizer in the carry out container. They asked if I could return. I said no way, I was too far. I asked if they could just refund the money. They said that they could refund amount. Then they called me back less than a minute later and told me they are making it and will run it out to me. A nice gesture but rather inconvenient for me. I had to wait by a 7-Eleven at Greenfield and Rotunda for them to bring me the missed appetizer. Would have been much easier if they had just credit me the amount and just let it go. Now I am waiting for the one missed appetizer while the rest of the food gets cold. They were at least quick to run it out to me in about 15 minutes or less. Although at this point my food had 25 minutes to cool off by now. The popcorn lobster special roll is okay. The UofM roll was not what I was expecting. I missed the seared tuna when I read it on the Yelp link. Had to remove the seared tuna since neither of us eat fish unless it's fully cooked. The MSU roll was decent. The avocado roll was okay, nothing special about it. The jalapeño bomb and the lobster rolls were pretty good, as was the Cali crunch roll. Those were the 3 better of all of the items consumed tonight. The food and rolls were generally okay, but nothing outstanding. The customer service is quite good here. I will give them that.

We've eaten here a lot and we are creatures of habit and order the same food but tonight was try something different and tonight we had the Godzilla roll, monkey brain and salmon on the beach. Everything was great. The salmon on the beach by far my most favorite roll anywhere. Roll has cream cheese, avocado and crab mix wrapped in rice with a broiled baked flaked chunks of Scottish salmon drizzled with a honey bbq sauce. Absolutely Devine. Go get ya some !

The Sushi is located in Taylor MI off telegraph. My experience at this restaraunt is spectacular ordering for delivery, dine in and also pick up. My faves are the salmon baby box, the honey roll, the surf & turf and the tempura veggies with shrimp. What's better then the food, the servers- they are the sweetest most considerate. Its definitely gonna remain one of my main spots.

So this place is fairly new so they do not have a liquor license yet but however it is still worth it to come here even if you can't have a drink. I ordered the Miso Soup and between the 3 of us we ordered a bunch of rolls: Godzilla Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Fuji Volcano Fire Roll, Rainbow Roll, Mushroom Roll, and I cant remember the other rolls but I will say each one of these rolls were phenomenal, this place is very much worth trying.

I left a completely honest review about my experience with this establishment and the owner sent a condescending and disrespectful reply.....tells you everything you need to know about this restaurant......... The owner of this establishment is a liar I never "harassed" any of the employees nor did my " manager" call me. Complete lack of integrity on the business owners behalf....

My wife and I stopped in based off the recommendation of my brother-in-law. Glad we did! Ginger dressing salad was awesome! We got some of the classic rolls (spicy Tuna and yellowtail), 1 naked roll (911) and a signature roll (I am sorry honey). All of the rolls tasted extremely fresh and were scrumptious! Also grabbed a tempura appetizer that was excellent as well. Also, the staff was wonderful! Chefs were making jokes to the patrons and Kim was an great waitress! Will definitely be back and recommend!

Service is phenomenal. Greeted with a smile! Our server was attentive and super sweet. She took out the time to explain the different options they had as well as local favorites. Wonderful ambiance not too loud or too quite. Super cute place not a lot of seating available. The food was amazing we had the lobster cigar which is a must! I order a veggie tempura it was pretty good ( prob will not order it again) chicken gyoza ( FANTASTIC). For sushi we got the Vegas roll which is not on the menu and the mango tango ( amazing). Chicken fried rice was really good and flavorful. I absolutely had a wonderful experience cannot wait to come back and try other options on the menu!!!!!

Love this spot. I stop in or order for takeout like once a month for lunch at work. The sushi is fresh and delicious and the staff is so friendly. Definitely recommend trying it.

Trust me if you are on the fence jump off! If you are looking for a quaint little sushi spot for a day date or quick little intimate night out this was perfect for us. Excellent food, clean establishment, solid service! Mocktail specials were too pricey but beyond that 10/10. Note that they close for a couple hours in the afternoons so double check your times before going. They are definitely worth a try.

This place was unassuming yet pleasantly delightful. The staff was welcoming and greeted us politely both coming in and when we left. The tables were clean and the atmosphere was pleasant. Our waitress had a huge smile and knew the menu well. Her recommendation were fantastic. The food was was tasty and presented very nicely. A job well done from the kitchen and front of the house! Thank you all. We'll definitely be stopping in next time we're in town.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST SUSHI IN THE DOWN RIVER AREA! I am blown away with the lobster cigar; my absolute fav & I usually order 2 ‍ My boyfriend and I also love the combo fried rice the Goyza is delicious as well! I would suggest EVERYONE TO TRY THE SUSHI BAR OUT IMMEDIATELY!

Not sure why the bad reviews, come regularly, so do my friends. Never disappointed. Chef comes out to greet us every time. Most delicious affordable sushi in the metro Detroit area. Try it for yourself!!!

Bright atmosphere, friendly staff, fresh food! Try the pink lady roll and you can't go wrong with the MSU (though there is a UM roll if you are so inclined ).

Excellent food, moderately priced and great service what more can you ask for. A wide range of sushi and sashimi as well as bento boxes and more standard fare. The knife skills of the chef are exceptional. I will be returning.

The Sushi Bar was recommended to my girlfriend and I, and we are so happy we took our friends suggestion. I am new to the Sushi game and it was amazing that our waitress took the time to answer my questions and guide my first Sushi experience. She took the time to explain the different options and what I might like the best. The restaurant was a little busy but the whole staff showed great energy and the other customers all seem to be enjoying themselves. Definitely will recommend to others and we are gonna make this place one of our regular places to go to!

Walked in on a Monday night for a small business. It was very full immediately kindly greeted. Even though the server was busy, we were first time guests, and she didn't make us feel rushed, while we took our time looking at the menu. Our courses were well timed. all of the food came out well, presentable and fresh. We ordered the salmon teriyaki bento box, and it was very flavorful and filling. at the end of our meal, the owner came out and greeted us. Support your local small businesses and try this place out a good bang for your buck.

Amazing and then some. Best Sushi, best Chef and terrific Staff. The food is not only so so tasty it's served like a piece of art. The food is always fresh, service is fast & friendly and the cleanliness of the environment is comforting and inviting. Went yesterday and the day before (it was just that good) and was beyond impressed. The Sushi Bar definitely deserves five stars plus! Can't wait to go back. PS: wish I could fill the page with STARS!!!!

I was here several months ago and had a decent meal.... was just there with a few friends and I kept saying it smelled like sewage. It's super cramped and tiny here and noticed a few others mentioning the foul stench. My food came. I shared 3 rolls with my brother and had the lobster cigar. The lobster was overcooked and tough as can be. The salmon tasted funky and off. The tuna was definitely not fresh. After a few hours, I was violently ill in my hotel room. I thought it was a horrible stomach virus until my brother texted and said he had food poisoning. I reached out to our 2 friends, one was very sick, too. The other was fine, but she only had fried rice as her entree- no raw fish. I called, and the owner was a raging maniac. No apologies, nothing. Just irrational and angry. Never again!!!

I hate to do this but I must warn other consumers. I spent almost $50 on Lover Rolls, Shumai and a small Miso Soup. Your restaurant need to include information that the portion size food are for children or people who eat cat like portions. It was so small! I've been to many sushi restaurants but this by far is sad how they charge you adult priced food and your food is child size portions.

I didn't know what to order and the waitress pointed me to the two most popular rolls - they did not disappoint. I wish I remembered what they were called - both had shrimp tempura as pictured. My husband had a chicken bento box at the recommendation of another customer and it was also very good.

Some of the most over price sushi I've ever had. To top it off the Service was slow. Wishing they went back to their roots.

I work for dte and when big storms hit we eat here every single day. This place is the best sushi I have ever had and recommend it to everyone. Not only the food but the service is amazing! If I was on deaths row this would be my last meal for sure

Amazing food. Awesome service. I had the chicken teriyaki bento box and the Jalapeno bomb. It was so good and alot of food for the price. My family ordered a variety of rolls that was served on a huge spinning platter. The platter was presented with an artistic touch. The owner came out and gave us a plate with fried oreos. I highly recommend this place for sushi. You will not be disappointed.

Wide variety of choices, our waitress was very attentive and kind, and really dug the small space. I have regrets about not trying the tuna poke bowl, but there's always next time.

This is the best sushi I've had in Michigan. Had the Godzilla Roll, Dragon Roll, MSU Roll, and the Ruby Crunch Roll. We also tried the Monkey Brains and the Lobster Cigar Roll. Everything was fresh and delicious as well as beautifully plated. For dessert we had the Mochi and Fried Oreos. A great find for sushi lovers.

order sat on the shelf while i waited for 30 minutes. the girl working seemed to be on drugs or something because she was confused and disorderly. finally. they handed me my room temperature sushi.

We thoroughly enjoyed this sushi restaurant. The waitress was very helpful. Prices were competitive. The sushi plate was beautiful when it arrived. So creative with how it was displayed. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The Pink Lady Roll was so delicious, esp with the ginger orange dipping sauce!

I ate there with a friend and she loved everything she ate. I ordered the Tuna Takati and loved it. The tuna tower is normally spicy so they made a non spicy version for me that was really good and I thank them for adjusting how they made it. Miso soup from scratch was really good as well. Have not eaten the chicken fried rice I ordered but it looks really good.

This is the best Sushi Downriver that I have found. The restaurant is clean, and the sushi is fairly priced. We often get lunch here with a Bento Box and Pick 3 sushi combinations. We are always very happy with the taste, quality, and amount of food we pay for. Highly recommend them for sushi!
