"Village pubs don’t come much more inviting than this, an immaculate 14th-century inn offering layer upon layer of charm. First there’s the bucolic setting, a small village nestled among the natural beauty of the South Downs; enter inside and you’re greeted not just by the friendly team but the even friendlier pub dog. Once seated in the gorgeously refurbished interior, the high-quality cooking duly completes the package. Expect hearty, traditional British dishes bursting with flavour, like devilled kidneys on toast followed by a Barnsley chop." - Michelin Inspector

A Brilliant Addition to Fittleworth: This was our second visit to The Swan, and it just keeps getting better. After a fantastic dinner in the restaurant last week, we returned for some early evening snacks in the bar on Thursday—and once again, it was spot on. The bar had a great energy, busy with a mix of locals and hotel guests, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The front-of-house team are excellent—attentive, friendly, and make a real effort to greet every customer personally, which really stood out. We had cheeseburgers, a delicious plate of jamón, and a selection of bar tapas that seemed to be flying out to happy customers around us. The quality was great, and it’s clear the team really care about both food and service. They’ve nailed the balance of relaxed yet refined—can’t wait to come back again soon.

Had a great stay here just before the end of May bank hol weekend. Just a night away without the children, shame it wasn’t longer. The room we had was beautiful and actually better in real life than the pictures on the website. The decoration was very tasteful & seemed so fresh, almost like we were the first ones to stay there (we weren’t!). The bed linen and fabrics felt very luxurious. To be honest everything was very good quality. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant too. Very good quality ingredients — some classic pub grub done well and some more adventurous cooking. Would definitely go back, hopefully for longer next time!

Had the most wonderful stay at The Swan which has been beautifully restored with fantastic, quality and design which in keeping with the building. Service and food excellent and the team first class. Dinner was perfect as was breakfast the next morning served in the barn. Food quality was best available and a very refreshing wine list. Looks like they are finishing off a beautiful garden at the back of the Inn which will enhance the offering even further. It is so nice to see things being done so well and this business deserves to succeed! Thank you

Went to The Swan Inn for Sunday lunch and it was outstanding. The menu is based around roasts however there are vegetarian options too. My party had a mix of roast chicken, lamb and beef and all three were accompanied by generous amounts of roast potatoes, vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. Everything was cooked to perfection and piping hot. Sunday roasts can vary in quality but The Swan gets it spot-on. |The staff were attentive, friendly and very hard working. The inn was busy but the service level was first class.|Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

We had a lovely stay at the Swan Inn. The entire property is tastefully decorated, the room was very comfortable, and the staff were so kind and welcoming. The fact that JMW Turner used to stay there made the stay extra special. As a side, we were not aware of the planning required for booking a taxi and when we found out there would be an hour wait, without us asking, the staff offered to take us to the train station, as we had a flight out of Gatwick that morning! Amazing.

After all the PR earlier this year it was difficult to get a table.|But things have eased and we dined last week in a half empty restaurant.|The menu was unusual and not much appealed to us. The prices were high as this was standard pub decor, bare wood tables, etc, not a smart restaurant. The wine list was extensive and mostly very expensive, but we just had a glass or two.|The food was not very good and the pretty serving damsels were a bit pushy.|For example, the liver was cut in chunks and overcooked and the prosciutto was fresh from the packet.|I am local, but there are two other posh pubs that are much better with owners in attendance supervising everything

Amazing country pub. High end restaurant menu. Quality hotel accommodation. All wrapped up into one package with amazing staff. What's not to like? Is it expensive? Well if you ever eat out anywhere nice, then no..if you want to eat at a standard pub with frozen food on the menu, then yes. Take your choice. I will be back for another weekend. Also super dog friendly.

A very positive review in 'The Week' made us choose The Swan for an overnight anniversary treat. Our stay was very comfortable - lovely room, tastefully decorated and with a great bathtub and shower. Dinner in the pub restaurant was excellent as was our continental breakfast. Service was very friendly and professional.

Yelp
Had a nice meal sitting in the back "beer garden". Great pub fare. We had fish and chips and the handmade burger. Nice spot would recommend to anyone looking for a local spot to eat.
