The Sweet Life Bakery

While other wedding cake bakeries told me no to the flavors I wanted, multiple flavors on the different layers, and even the design, Jenn said yes and that's easy. After being told no so many times and tasting dry, flavorless cakes, I was at a loss on where to get a wedding cake. A coworker recommend Sweet Life and I contacted Jenn and we set up a tasting for all the flavors I was interested in. We ended up getting 3 different flavors for the different layers because they were so good that I couldn't choose. Jenn also told me the design I picked out was easy for them to do. The cake was beautiful and exactly what we wanted. I was very glad I asked for pieces of the cake to be brought to our suite so we could try some of the delicious wedding cake since the rest of the cake was eaten at the reception.

Went out on a limb and for my daughter's college graduation and SO Glad I did!! Not only was the cake amazing it was absolutely delicious!!! Not a piece left over!!! The best bakery and service hands down! Please don’t hesitate to book them for your next event or cupcake craving!!!

I can’t believe I haven’t left a review here yet. This is my go to bakery for everything . I have never had a bad experience here. The owners are amazing and so friendly. The items this bakery sells are to die for. When Mardi Gras hits , they have the absolute best king cake. I have to start and end every year with one of their king cakes.

Jenny and her staff did an amazing job on our cake for our baby shower! We did a cake tasting and Jenny was so helpful with decor ideas and flavors. We tried a few different flavors and it was so hard to pick just one! We will be back for those Tiramisu cupcakes because they were out of this world! The cake delivery was executed so perfectly, it actually made it to the venue before I did! Everyone LOVED the cake and I had everyone asking what bakery I used. We will be using Sweet Life for all our events going forward!!

I’m not someone who usually leaves negative reviews but my experience with this bakery was extremely disappointing. I had been in contact with them back and forth through emails about a custom cake I needed for a birthday celebration 2 months before the event date. I had paid the deposit 3 weeks prior to pickup and thought everything was good to go. I called the bakery about 20 minutes before pickup to make sure it was ready just to find out that they completely LOST my order. We are from out of town and were visiting NOLA for this surprise birthday celebration and our plans were now ruined. We originally ordered a vanilla cake and were told that our only option was for an almond cake (the whole reason we chose vanilla was because we had picky eaters). After asking if there was any other option, we were offered a refund on our deposit as if they were doing us a favor by giving me my money back for a service I never received. No alternate solutions, no offer to remake the cake, no recommendations on where to find replacements. Just was told “sorry we’re closed tomorrow so you can either get almond today or we can offer you a refund.”

This is the best place in New Orleans for wedding cakes—hands down, 100%! Their prices are completely reasonable, customization is easy, communication is stress free and they don’t charge an arm and a leg for every small addition. And the best part? The cake is absolutely delicious! I received rave reviews from every single guest, including those who work in the wedding industry across multiple states and have tasted plenty of wedding cakes over the years. Everyone said it was one of the best, if not the best, they had ever had.

I usually dont leave negative reviews l, But I wasted money on my birthday cake. I specifically asked for a LEMON cake!. This cake was not it! Not only that I had to tell the young girl to put a cover on the front of the cake she looked liked at me like I was crazy. I will not be coming back and I threw the whole cake away because everybody at my birthday dinner said the cake didn't have any taste to it I'm sorry but I'm very sad and disappointed! I asked Jenny to call me but Jessica her employee lied and said I was cussing and acting like a child. I emailed you Jenny asking you to give me a call and you still haven't responded to me email. I wasn't acting like a child my birthday was ruined because of your cake not being what I asked for and it didn't even Have a taste to it i had to throw it away and it was embarrassing when I had a birthday dinner at Ruth Chris!

The Sweet Life Bakery was everything I wanted and didn’t think existed. The most important thing you need to know is — I’m not a huge sweets fan (one bite and I’m good)… I ate all of the samples myself and I may have snarled at my fiancé when he got close to them after his one bite of each. All of the other bakery samples I tried were fine but didn’t come close. Easiest decision I made for the entire wedding was choosing The Sweet Life Bakery. We wanted a light, fruit flavored cake for our wedding — lemon raspberry in some format with Swiss meringue buttercream (SMB) was our hope. You’d think that wouldn’t be a huge ask these days. However, The Sweet Life Bakery was the only bakery that really had the variety of fruit options we wanted (that wasn’t white cake with a fruit jam) AND prepared tasting samples for us to try without any pushback or a crazy high up charge (very reasonable). Cake samples included blueberry, lemon, vanilla and almond. SMB samples included lemon, raspberry, vanilla and blueberry. They make beautiful cake designs but I was on tight budget for a 90 person wedding and wanted to have a surprise groom’s cake, so I went with a plain white wedding cake. It was still gorgeous! The groom’s cake of our Yorkie was hysterically perfect! I emphasized that she has big ears and they nailed it all! The fondant on the groom’s cake was the perfect thickness and not too sweet so it was just as delicious as the wedding cake. Sweet Life has knocked it out of the park on two separate occasions, both birthday celebrations. Last month we ordered an almond cake, and this month a chocolate cake with peanut butter and chocolate ganache filling. Both cakes were crowd pleasers. The chocolate cake was moist, rich and decadent. The almond cake was moist and light, and had just the right amount of sweetness. Sometimes their buttercream frosting isn't sweet enough. Working with the baker was easy enough. The first time I met with her in person. She was personable and offered some great ideas. The second time we talked over the phone, and the service was also fine, and she was accommodating. I think they're a good value.

Asked for a "hobbit hole" cake for my daughter's birthday, as she's a big LOTR fan. What a fabulous job, and the bananas foster flavor inside was delicious! My daughter was delighted!

I got a 1/2 bananas foster 1/2 Bavarian cream king cake. The bananas foster was really great, very good flavor, good consistency. However, the Bavarian cream side had the tiniest smidgeon of cream. It was basically a dry croissant with icing on it. I would say each piece had about the size of a dime of cream in the entire piece. Why even put any at that point?

In my quest to find the perfect cupcake, I came here. The sign on the door said cakes and ice cream, but I saw no sign of ice cream inside. The gal working was friendly enough. The cupcakes were good and my friends liked them. I thought there was something missing that I couldn't quite put my finger on. That said, they were good.

I'm a king cake snob & won't eat just any king cake. Upon recommendation of a friend I ventured out and tried a new bakery today. The Sweet Life Bakery. I bought the ooey goeey king cake and it did not disappoint . It's not the typical cinnamon roll dough, more like a croissant crust., flakey layers with the ooey gooey filling Mom tried it too and loved it ! 100% recommend trying this. Adding them to my list of the only 3 king cakes i actually like . #thesweetlifebakery

10/10!! BEST king cake in the city. Not super sweet, but sweet enough. I was saying to myself I wish someone had a cookie butter king cake, & glad I found them! Sooooo good, definitely recommend. Is a croissant texture, which I love. Not too doughy.

This place is nothing but a joke . I order my wedding cake and I guess they made it with their feets and put all the sugar they found that day so nothing else to say I put it in the garbage. When I asked them to do it the way I wanted the lady said she was pregnant and that she wasn't able to do it so she and up making the way she wanted it and it was the worst service I have gotten all my life‍‍

The Baby is swimming in a pool of icing! A buttery and flaky Danish/croissant dough, filled with airy layers of puff pastry filled with almond cream and iced twice before being topped with Mardi Gras colored sugar sprinkles. OMG this cake had so much icing, I was in sugar heaven! Thank you again Jenny for creating such a delicious cake. You can order any type of flavor you could think of, Jenny can customize it for you. I'm already looking forward to my next king cake from here.

I visited the Sweet Life Bakery at the usual time of King Cake frenzy. I didn't think there would be any king cakes available, but lo and behod, I lucked out. When you walk in a business and you just want to stand there and inhale inhale inhale, oh goodness! I got carried away. I went in to get king cakes for my lawfirm secretary friends. The king cakes were really beautiful. The colors were bright and covered well. I bought different cakes and different levels of sweetness, filled with fruit. The ladies and gents of the lawfirm , went crazy over the flavors, and the variety laid in front of them. I didn't have any delays or any negativity. The owners Jennifer and Jessica were very accommodating. All my questions were answered. Actually, cudos to Jennifer and Jessica running everything so smoothly while the chaos and hurdles were not going away real soon. The ooey gooey KC was so good I almost ate the cardboard that it laid on. Everything I bought was totally delicious, fresh at a market rate, also worth every cent. The Sweet Life Bakery was featured on "Great Day Louisiana" Malik, the Host made everyone know the love that is in the bakings of Sweet LIfe. They are in the new store on Veterans Boulevard, in Metairie. For customized cakes, etc give the owners Jennifer and Jessica a 2week notice or call and talk to them about your needs. These ladies are nat'ully Louisiana y'all. I have to make room for those hmmmmmm hmmmmm good mama mia, Canolis. I'm outta heah y'all. "MO"

Very delayed review!! Long story short, I was planning a bachelorette party in New Orleans and needed an idea put to life! Being that's was planning the party from Houston, I was extremely picky with what bakery I was going to choose for my "idea" cake. After much research (and beaucoup phone calls), The Sweet Life bakery was my bakery of choice. Everything about the cake was thoroughly planned via phone and emails and the final result was superior!! The filling, decoration, icing and overall presentation was perfect and everyone enjoyed it!! Highly recommended for any of your cake decor needs! Thanks ladies!

We were a bit underwhelmed with the Sweet Life Bakery. Ordered a chocolate birthday cake, which was decorated beautifully. The chocolate cake itself was fine- nothing to write home about. We were most disappointed in the icing. I'm familiar with Swiss meringue icing and enjoy it for it's usually light, delicate texture. The icing on this cake was profoundly thick and dense, taking on almost the texture of fondant and breaking away from the cake in chunks, literally peeling away from the plain white icing crumb coat icing layer, which remained on the cake. The cookie dough filing also left a lot to be desired, with only chocolate chips detectable in more thick buttercream and no noticeable actual cookie "dough". The cake was fresh and allowed to come to room temperature before serving, meaning this really shouldn't have happened with the icing. Perhaps this was a one off bad batch of icing, but I'd hesitate to order here again in the future.

Ordered a cake for our daughter and was so disappointed.The color was wrong,the frosting on the cake was horrible!!!! NO TASTE!!! it tasted like Crisco lard!!!!We wanted a traditional birthday cake with piping and draping on the side of the cake. The ratio to cake to the DISGUSTING FROSTING.....so say they call "swiss meringue buttercream" MORE LIKE Swiss meringue LARD cream!!!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS BAKERY!!!!! GO BACK TO LAKEVIEW!!!!!!

The staff is always super SWEET as well as the cakes and desserts being amazing. I love the mini cakes, perfect for a random indulgence without having to order a whole cake. Also for my niece's birthday this year we were in a pinch and they came through for our family big time! I recommended them to everyone that mentions they have an event coming up and we have used them for several office parties! They do not disappoint.

When my bm started craving cakes I would stop at different bakery's around the city but when I brought her a mini cake home from here she has sent me there every week since... & she's not pregnant anymore lmao. Also, the new location is way better now. More convenient.

Uggh. You are still so rude. You know I cancelled more than 48 hours before so please don't lie. You did not explain the cancellation policy like at alll. Not one word was mentioned. Not even the word "cancellation", so that's another lie. I ordered from another woman who is also the owner of a small business. I also had to postpone with her because my daughter got sick the day before her party. She was so sweet and accommodating and was able to postpone the cake for 2 weeks. So basically..she was the exact opposite of you. And it was the most adorable cake. I'm so glad I switched. Like you said, EVERYONE is struggling during Covid. That includes your customers..you know, the people who keep you in business. So you should try and remember that. The ingredients would spoil? Is that a freaking joke? They're called freezers. Get a grip girl.

Their traditional king cake is so fresh and light! It was delicious. I love the flavor of the dough. It was like an almond cinnamon flavor. I could be wrong, but it was pretty tasty. Their turtles are bigger than a regular one. Very good tasting! I love the way they decorated their petit fours with light sugar Mardi Gras colors! They were delicious too.

The Sweet Life Bakery was recommended to us by our flower / decor vendor when we told them we wanted a wedding cake that would be a showpiece and MAN were they a good call! They made us a three-tier beauty w/ different layer sizes and fondant techniques (marble, metallic finishes, etc). Jenny was a pleasure to work with through the dozens of emails we sent her. She recommended a chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganache and fresh raspberries, which all of our guests RAVED about. Between the reception and farewell brunch, the entire cake was eaten. Thankfully, Jenny told us that if we come back to town for our one-year anniversary, she'll make us a small version to celebrate. I can't say enough good about Nola Sweet Life Bakery!

You MUST try their Ooey Gooey desserts- It is life-changing! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Super cute place with amazing treats. You can tell they use high end ingredients. It's refreshing to find a place that appreciates actual flavor vs cheap sugar. It's very authentic. What a gem!

I would give this bakery 0 stars if I could. I ordered a birthday cake and sent photos of ideas I had in mind. I didn't want a fondant cake and asked if they could do black buttercream icing. I was told they could not so I said it was fine to just do a buttercream icing carrot cake. I asked for it to read Happy Birthday... then they asked me if I had any other design ideas since they couldn't do the black buttercream. I asked for Halloween colours and they said they could add some purple rosettes. I was fine with that. My husband picked up the cake and I was shocked when I got a black cake in fondant that had the sloppiest roses on it. There was no writing on the cake. It looked like it was just slapped together last minute. It was awful and their "Italian" buttercream is just whipped oil and sugar like what you would get in an Oreo filling. No flavour at all. When I called to speak to someone I was told no one was there that could help me.

Seriously, MY FAVORITE cake place!!! The strawberry cream filling is soooo good. Perfect for kid's parties and adults. I think this may be my new bakery of choice. My sister ordered my baby's first bday cake from them and it was pretty on the outside and pretty on the inside. If you are still unsure, just go visit them and see and smell and taste for yourself. I tell no lies.

This is the only place I will go to get custom cakes! How sweet it is to get a cake from Sweet life bakery. They are professional, understanding and innovative. This is the 2nd time I've used them and I am not disappointed. Their cakes are crowd pleasers. Their frosting is just the right sweetness especially for most adults. The cookies are to die for. They made my daughters Marie Antoinette themed 1st birthday just magical. Even the smash cake had the right details. I don't hand out 5 stars often. So please believe they are the best at what they do!!!!!!!

I met Jenny and Jessica at a Bridal show several years back and have been hooked on the Sweet Life ever since! They are my go-to for cakes, cupcakes, king cakes, and those mid-day ice cream cravings! Their sweets are so delicious, and the stuff that they come up with is so creative. The calories are so worth it!!!!

So, I went today to the new location of The Sweet Life Bakery, and ordered a Petit Four. I started eating it there and it was super dry. I tell the attendant that it was dry, so I asked for the trash can. She offered to throw it away for me. Then apologized because the Petit Fours have been there since Friday, and today is Wednesday. I waited for her to offer me something else, but she didn't. She just kept apologizing. Wonder why they are selling 5 days old petit four? She did mentioned that the cup cake I purchased for my daughter should be ok because it was baked yesterday. It is obvious this employee hasn't been trained in customer service, or she didn't feel empowered to make the decision to offer me something else or give my money back. It's not her fault. She was always kind and well spoken. Please train your employees better or empower them to make decisions that will make the customer happy and keep them coming back.

I'm so glad my fiancé told me to check Sweet Life out for my brother's groom's cake! Jenny has great ideas and was able to successfully replicate a picture of a cake I saw on Pinterest. The prices are reasonable, the cake was professional-looking and it tasted great! Not only do I plan to come back, but I'm definitely going to use Sweet Life for my own wedding.

King cakes are awesome! I've had 5 this season, this is my favorite or 2nd favorite behind Haydel's praline. Soooooo good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Absolutely loved the cake Jenny made and she is so easy to work with. She from a picture, nailed the cake and the flavors. When I took the cake to the restaurant for my boyfriend's birthday the pastry chef there commented they had never seen such a beautiful cake and requested her contact information. Thank you Jenny for making my boyfriend's birthday a great one!!!

I used this bakery to make my 30th birthday cake and they were so fantastic I had to write a review! First, they were very creative and helped me come up with a fabulous design. They listened to my ideas and made a few suggestions when I asked, but mostly were able to just make something I dreamed up come alive! (It was a 90's theme - hence the albums on the cake!) The cake itself was very good, but just slightly too dry as it crumbled when I tried to cut through the multiple layers of cake. The icing was light and fluffy and also really delicious. I was so impressed with the flavor of the cake and icing - sometimes when you get a fancy cake you're getting a pretty product but it doesn't taste great - not the case here!! Overall, I was so please with my experience here and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a specialty cake!

2 desserts: ooey gooey and white chocolate bread pudding!!! The ooey gooey is one of the top 3 I've had in my life, and I've tried a bunch. The WC bread pudding is a nice, creamy spin on bread pudding. The texture is soft with a bit of a bite and the sauce is light but rich. I'll be trying their cupcakes next!

Love these king cakes!!!! My go-to, I need to get them as my first king cake of the year. It's a new tradition. I tried the almond one this year and I'm obsessed.

My friends ordered their daughter's frozen cake for the first time. There was not a person disappointed, who had a piece of cake. It was lite, tasty and delicious. The lemon filling was ...ummm.ummm..good. I am writing a review because i will be ordering a cake in the near future.

We often stop by The Sweet Life for their delicious chocolate iced brownies, and decided to order a birthday cake for our son. We had no idea what we wanted. They walked us through the process and created the most beautiful, Pinterest-like, delicious cake we have ever had! It was a big cake and there wasn't a bite left! This is our new birthday cake place!!!

This place is the best! I'm behind on writing this review as my son's birthday was in January but now I need another cake and of course I am calling Sweet Life for the job! Their cakes are flawless! The detail and work is exceptional! Sweet Life Bakery has the best tasting cakes around! Sometimes we even stop in for a mini cake just to have for dessert. This place is a must!!!

My mom and I were planning a baby shower from out of town for my sister in New Orleans, and were searching for a local bakery to make a cake. We had seen an image of a cake that we loved, so we had a specific idea in mind. After getting pricing from a few others, we were becoming discouraged. But thank goodness we found The Sweet Life Bakery!!! Jenny was very nice and helpful with suggesting the correct size cake for the event and picking flavors, explaining options, etc. The pricing was also very reasonable. We sent her the image of the cake we liked and it turned out PERFECT! It was beautiful and delicious and all the guests were asking where we got it from - so of course we recommended this bakery! We were extremely pleased with the service and cake and would definitely order from here again! Thank you, Jenny!!!

Cute and clean, this new bakery is a winner when it comes to confectionery delights. Cupcakes, sticky buns, petit fours, napoleons (or mille feilles), muffins, you name it. And they do cakes! All kinds of shapes and sizes! Check it out!

I'm not a cake person, not a wedding person. At a bridal show, I tried Sweet Life cake and thought it was delicious, so my fiance and I went to the bakery later to discuss hiring them to do our cakes. Later at another bridal show, I found out that a lady my fiance and I knew was also a well-known baker, so we scheduled a tasting with her. It was so unorganized and I just wanted to cry. I asked for certain flavors weeks in advance because I hate almond and white cake, but when we got there, nothing was prepared. I started to dread wedding planning. My fiance set up a tasting at Sweet Life since we liked them so much before. Jenny and Nikki are so knowledgeable, honest and kind. Also, the shop is practically wallpapered with photos of their work, which is really great if you are far too busy to spend hours looking for cake designs on The Knot. She had one of the employees go out and get us bottles of water since they had run out and the cakes and icings came on a pretty little plate for us to try. More importantly, the cakes are good and the icing is sooo smooth and not super sweet and thick. Yum. I'm using Sweet Life Bakery from now until!

Highly satisfied. Ordered a special "muscle cake" which was chocolate fondant with chocolate cake and vanilla filling 3 days in advance and it came out wonderful. Workers were very professional and answered all questions I had. High recommended!!

This is one of Lakeview's finest bakeries. I ordered a cake that tasted like "HEAVEN"! Art work was great and the flavor natural ingredients and a show stopper! They make specialty cakes, cookies, etc... that compare to French pastries! Jo Tyler

These girls are God-sent. I consider myself a cake aficionado, and I live for all things sweet. It's an actual problem. The two most important elements of my wedding were the photographer and the cake. I was SO excited for cake tasting. Seriously, it was the one part of wedding planning that I was actually looking forward to. Unfortunately, as we met with all the "well known" bakeries in the city, I was consistently let down. All I wanted was a chocolate cake. I'm a chocoholic, and for as long as I can remember, I've wanted a chocolate wedding cake. Each bakery kept coming up with reasons why I couldn't have a chocolate cake (it's too moist/it won't hold up) and offering alternatives. They also kept pushing the traditional almond on me, telling me its what people want and expect at a wedding. Wedding cake is great, but that's just not what I wanted. The cake was so important to me, and I was getting so depressed. I actually cried once, because it seemed like no one was willing to listen to me to give me the cake of my dreams. Then I remembered that I had met this awesome baker at a Bridal Show who was friendly, engaging, and completely non-judgmental as I ate up every single one of her remaining samples. Our cake-tasting with Sweet Life did not disappoint. Where we only got to try one or two types of cake and icing at the other bakeries, we got to try FIVE different flavors with Sweet Life, including my beloved Devil's Food, and there were at least five icings. The meeting itself was also much warmer than anything we had previously experienced. Jenny sat down with us and constantly reaffirmed that a chocolate cake was no problem whatsoever. And it wasn't a chocolate cake substitute; it was the most delicious, moist, flat out yummy cake I had tasted in awhile (and again, I freaking love cake). What's more, Jenny told me that my cake could be MULTIPLE FLAVORS! Can you believe this? Their cakes could have been hideous for all I cared at that point, because she was so great and the cake was that good, but the designs were simply beautiful. She sat down and discussed the overall feel and vice of our wedding with us, and when I told her that all of my bridesmaids were wearing black lace, she immediately jumped up to show me an edible lace they were starting to use. Because I'm so minimalistic, she gave us some great ideas for decorating the cake without going over the top. When I walked into our reception, the cake literally took my breath away. I'm 100% going to use them for all my baking needs from this point forward. They're worth every penny.

I can't express how wonderful Jenn was to work with. She created the perfect wedding cake for my daughter's wedding. We had everyone asking were it came from. Not only was it beautiful but tasted amazing. We have gone in just to say Hi and taste all her yummy pastries. We also love the birthday cakes.

Super great choice when looking for a quick stop for something sweet, just off the main road and easy to find. We bought a apple turnover, a few other pastries and a strawberry ice cream in a waffle cone. Amazing pastries and the ice cream was fabulous. Great service from the nice guy running the counter. Would definitely go back and recommend.

Ordered my son's birthday cake from Sweet Life - such a beautiful and delicious cake! He wanted a 'chocolate cake with chocolate filling covered in sprinkles' - Sweet Life did not disappoint. The cake was beautiful - four airy cake layers complete with the lightest, fluffiest chocolate buttercream filling and covered in sprinkles - happiest three year old you've ever seen :) The cake was easy to pick up, ready a little earlier than expected, and packaged on a sturdy cake plate. Thank you Sweet Life!

I ordered a cream cheese filled king cake and I received an infilled king cake... and it was dry. I was upset because I liked the last one I had from there but now I probably won't get another.

This is a delicious bakery and I love baked goods. The brownie with chocolate buttercream is sinful. We also got the praline cheesecake that was so delicious. We would def go back.
