The 16 Best Restaurants & Bars In Laguna Beach - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Finding great tacos in Laguna Beach is like getting a rental car on Christmas Day: your options are going to be limited. Fortunately, there’s Taco Stand, a mini-chain from San Diego that does Tijuana-style tacos filled with grilled asada and al pastor from the spit. Aside from the usual taqueria staples, we like their vegetarian options, like nopales and mushroom tacos. The dining room can get crowded during peak hours, but don’t let that stop you from taking advantage of their fully loaded salsa bar." - garrett snyder, jess basser sanders

Google
I thought the tacos were very good. Fresh tasty and very well seasoned. I would definitely eat there again. Can’t believe I had lunch in Laguna Beach for under $15.

Celine U.

Google
This place has the tastiest tacos!!! So much variety, well priced, delicious, they even have fresh churros! The decor, music and atmosphere is great ! The perfect place to stop after a day at the beach !

Michael C.

Google
It’s five stars on the food and the quality. Gosh with so few tables, so many people crammed in, lines at all times, hard to give it a five stars for service and atmosphere. But it’s fun and perfect for the Mexican folk you are craving. Made super fresh and always tasty.

Ethan B.

Google
The tacos were truly amazing and the street corn was the best I've ever had. I had beef, chicken, and grilled Mahi Mahi tacos and each was exceptional. The corn tortilla was perfect.

Sungmin K.

Google
While these aren't the best tacos I've ever had, they are good enough that I would recommend trying them. However, the store's hygiene and overall cleanliness definitely need to be improved.

Kayden L.

Google
The best and freshest tacos I have ever had! Everything they make here is homemade. You can watch them make the tortillas right in front of you. The flavors are good. They have lots of high quality salsas and condiments. The service here is great. The cost for the quality is so great. One of my highest recommendations goes to this place.

Juanito M.

Google
Delicious food, restaurant is so authentic like damn. The asada tacos are actually with black angus beef so thats cool and the mar y tierra burritos and fries are to die for, delicious

Christie A.

Google
Wow, so shocked at the quality and taste in this place. Not because we don't have good taco options in OC, but because most places that advertise "TJ-style" tacos, tend to hit the mark by a lot. As soon as we parked, I could already smell that authentic taco stand place that you can only find in TJ. Handmade corn tortillas. I'm not sure if the flour ones were handmade or not, but were really good as well, kind of like the ones made in Puerto Nuevo. They also had a trompo for al pastor (aka adobada), that was almost done. I got there just in time because after that, they switched the trompo and no more Al pastor for a while. I got a Sonora taco (cheese, steak, and beans), two al pastor, and one asada. Husband got the mar y tierra burrito, which is basically your surf and turf. The burrito was massive. I couldn't believe it only cost ~$10, so I had to go look at the menu again! Very generous portion of shrimp and steak. The asada and Al pastor tacos were also very delicious. The tortillas were a little cold by the time I started eating (not their fault, I was waiting for the bathroom) but they didn't turn hard like some tend to do. Vast selection of salsas. Their hottest one (salsa macha) can still be handled by normal folk, I think (but be cautious if you can't handle spicy food). This was very tasty and went so well with the burrito. My son had 3 asada tacos and got in line again to take an asada burrito to go. This is how good this place was. I would like to see other options like lengua and cabeza, but being in Laguna, they're catering to their local costumer, so I understand. Give this place a try. If you've tried Tacos El Gordo y San Diego, or have tried good, authentic tacos in TJ, you will definitely like this place.

Yelp
Glad to see The Taco Stand has multiple locations. I love the food and it makes it very convenient. The burritos aren't stuffed with beans and rice like most Mexican restaurants. The price is also amazing. It's a small parking lot, but cars are usually coming and going frequently. The California burrito and the Mar Y Tierra which are my favorites. Their food is the closest I can get to the ones in San Diego (since that was their initial location). Service is fast and there's some seating outside so I could sit outside with my dog. Definitely coming again!

Yelp
The Taco Stand has multiple locations in Orange County, and they have been around for a while, so I finally got around to trying it. The Laguna Beach location has a small parking lot, and there's a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. It's not the cleanest seating area, but it gets the job done. The prices are very fair, especially for the area. We ordered the Pescado burrito and the California burrito. My husband enjoyed his California burrito, but I was quite disappointed in my Pescado burrito. There was fish at the top and bottom of the burrito, but the entire middle was full of cabbage. Additionally, all of the sauce sunk to the bottom, so it was pretty tasteless until I was almost done eating it. They really need to distribute the fillings better throughout the burrito. Based on my experience, I would not come back.

Yelp
The Taco Stand in Newport Beach absolutely lives up to the hype! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and authentic -- you can taste the quality in every bite. The carne asada tacos are my go-to -- perfectly grilled, juicy, and loaded with flavor. The al pastor is also incredible, with that sweet, smoky kick that's hard to beat. The staff is super friendly and quick, even when it's busy (which it usually is -- for good reason!). The vibe is laid-back, beachy, and perfect for a casual bite after a day out. Whether you're craving tacos, burritos, or just some seriously good guac, The Taco Stand never disappoints. One of my favorite spots in Newport -- worth every single visit!

Yelp
We have driven by this spot a handful of times but never had to chance to stop in until today! Let me start off by saying how incredible the service was and how fast we were taken care of. Food was a 10/10.. environment was super laid back and friendly! Thank you to everyone here and cheers to a great meal. We will be back soon!

Yelp
Laguna Taco Stand is an absolute gem. The tacos are fresh, packed with flavor, and clearly made with care, perfectly seasoned meat, warm tortillas, and toppings that complement instead of overpowering. The salsas are next-level, especially if you like a little kick. Service is fast and friendly, and the vibe is laid-back but buzzing with locals, which is always a good sign. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or making it a regular stop, Laguna delivers every time. Easily one of the best taco spots around.

Yelp
I would give more stars if I could here. Took my visiting family here and the service was quick and extremely friendly. The portions were HUGE AND SO INEXPENSIVE!!! highly recommend the Baja fish tacos and al pastor, my favs. We even got some treats on the house, I can't wait to come again. Seating can be tricking depending on the crowd but they clean up tables quick!

Yelp
I was staying at a nearby hotel. As a convenience, I decided to give "The Taco Stand" a try. I ordered the carne asada burrito. This was my first experience with brand, so I ordered it without customization. Per the menu description, it's "flame grilled angus steak (angus beef), guacamole, beans, tomato and salsa". It cost a little under $10.50. Per their website, The Taco Stand is a small chain of restaurants, with 16 locations scattered across the United States (CA, NV, TX & FL). I think this helps explain the taste. The positive is the steak was very good. It was marinated well; it was tender, while still providing a nice chewing experience. Otherwise, the burrito's overall taste was mild--almost bland. I suspect because they operate in different markets, they are trying to appeal to the greatest common denominator. Their salsa bar allows the diner to ultimately determine the taste. In California, we have access to so many styles of Mexican cooking. The Taco Stand's taste profile (for the burrito) isn't particularly distinct; but it is a safe choice, especially if you do not like strong flavors, or if spicy food irritates your stomach. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining. The indoor dining is nice; the outdoor dining is nice, too. The only share I have about outdoor dining here is that the restaurant sits at an intersection, with a signal light. There are people who cruise PCH on motorcycles with loud exhausts. If you dislike this sort of noise pollution, eat inside.

Yelp
The Taco Stand is a reliable choice for a reasonably priced meal in upscale Laguna Beach. Housed in the historical building of a former Taco Bell, this chain is always bustling. Tacos are $4-$5 each and burritos are $10-$12. You can help yourself to their salsa bar. I ordered three tacos - pollo asado, grilled fish and al pastor. My grilled fish taco had a gigantic piece of fish that was longer than the tortilla! My faves were the grilled fish and the pollo - the al pastor was pretty skimpy on the meat. There's indoor and outdoor seating (indoors can be a little stuffy). Got my food to go and walked a block to the beach instead. Food takes a while to be ready, so I had time to watch the staff at work. The woman working the counter was fantastic! She greeted every customer with a smile. I can see why this place is so popular!

Daniel Q.

Yelp
Great service! The best spot to eat Mexican street tacos in Laguna Beach. Always a pleasure my family and I literally try the whole menu here. Recommend the vegetarian options.

Yelp
Taco Stand is definitely one of my all time favorite spots, especially for their carne asada burrito. I love that their meat is grilled chopped steak. It has such great flavor and is a very good portion. The combination of flavors and textures is absolutely bomb. Their salsas are fantastic too, and you have to try the salsa verde. The chips and guac are classic must haves, and their fries are surprisingly good too. Just a heads-up, this location specifically is a bit small and parking is very limited, so keep that in mind when you visit.

Yelp
WOW. I can't get enough of this place. The California burrito is crazy good; somehow the French fries stay crispy and add great texture to the burrito. The bean and cheese burrito, though, is my guilty pleasure. Al pastor and shrimp tacos are my go-tos, doused with a hefty amount of the cilantro crema and pickled onions. Don't forget the churros!

Yelp
The Taco Stand - A Must Every Time Wow--there's honestly nothing bad to say about The Taco Stand. My wife and I first discovered this gem while staying in San Diego. We had just checked into our room at the Marriott Vacation Club and noticed a line out the door of this little place across the street. That's always a good sign, so we made sure to stop in--and we were blown away by how good the food was. Fast forward to this past Cinco de Mayo, we were staying in Newport Coast and spotted another Taco Stand location. No question where we were having dinner that night! I ordered the Al Pastor taco and the Baja taco, both served on fresh, homemade tortillas they make right there in the restaurant. I also grabbed a margarita from the cooler, which paired perfectly with the food. The moment I took the first bite of my Baja taco, I knew we'd made the right decision--again. The flavors are just on point, and the quality is consistent. They also make all of their sauces in-house, and there's a self-serve station where you can help yourself to whatever you like. The selection is great, and the marinated red onions they offer are amazing--super flavorful and the perfect topping for just about anything. One small hiccup--the fish in my Baja taco only covered about half the tortilla. I went up to the counter and showed them, and without hesitation, they told me to enjoy that one and said they'd make me another one right away. Great service and great attitude. The prices are incredibly reasonable. Three tacos came to under $13, and the margarita was about $9. For fresh, handmade, flavorful food like this, it's a steal. Fun fact about this location: it used to be an old Taco Bell that had to close down due to issues in the area. A few years later, it reopened as The Taco Stand--and what a comeback. They've turned it into something truly special. If you're anywhere near one of their locations, go. The food, atmosphere, and service make it a can't-miss spot.

Yelp
The tacos were amazing especially with the sauces!! My favorite was the chicken and the pork--the carne asada was good too but not as good as the others.

Yelp
One of our favorites in Laguna! Great food and service. The burritos are amazing and so are the fish tacos
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly and fast service!! Big portion and inexpensive tacos! Loved the variety of the sauce bar! Would come again next time when visiting Laguna Beach.

Yelp
Great service, amazing food! We come here at least once or twice a week! Love this place!

Andrew P.

Yelp
These burritos make me believe in God. When I taste them, I feel like I can see the universe and its full expanded glory. I always write Gracias mis amigos, so The Boys behind the line know that I love them. The taco stand is a blessing to this community. It's affordable and super delicious. Whenever I take my friends here, I see them take a bite and they get weak at the knees, and I just smiled to myself because I know that this is the only place that this is possible; nowhere else in the world can I pleasure my friends like this.
google avatar

Serge G.

Yelp
I just tried The Taco Stand and had a great experience. David was very kind and helped explain the menu and what I should try! I would definitely come again!
google avatar

Amy P.

Yelp
Tried a bean and cheese burrito with rice added and a California burrito with chicken. I ordered online and the order was prepared fairly quickly and was hot and ready when I went to go pick it up. Both burritos were massive and filling so worth the price in my opinion. The tortillas were soft and not rubbery/too chewy. I liked the flavor of the cheese they used, it was especially evident in the BRC. In the California burrito I liked the flavor of the chicken and the combo of the meat and fries and toppings was delicious. Would recommend giving this place a try! They also have a self serve salsa/topping bar inside which is a plus!

Mandy M.

Yelp
First time here and we were blown away! David took our order and he was super friendly from the get go. We ordered the mar y tiera burrito and the bean and cheese burrito and everything tasted amazing. The star of the show was definitely the churros, I highly recommend!
google avatar

Carlos J.

Yelp
Great location with a simple menu. You order at the counter and can either take it to go or eat in the small dining area inside or outside. The food is made right in front of you, and the staff is excellent. I tried the street corn and a California burrito both were outstanding, with their own unique twist on authentic Mexican flavors.
google avatar

Marisa T.

Yelp
Constantly busy but it was less busy while we were walking by & my husband has been wanting to try it, so we stopped in. VERY humid inside! Almost intolerable. Food took a little bit but my shrimp taco was delicious. I love that the chili area has grilled onions. My husband liked the carne asada but said he's had better. I'd come back again to try their fish tacos & get shrimp again.
google avatar

Darren O.

Yelp
Down all the way from Kansas, but we were staying down the street on the beach and this is the first place popped up for awesome fish tacos and the grilled Mahi did not disappoint
google avatar

Emmanuel T.

Yelp
This place was busy! I got a carne asada taco & my wife a taco de camaron the meat was good I just wish they let it get a little crisp but overall it was really good & tender! My wife said her shrimp taco was really good also! The service was good the ambience was nice also. Seating is limited on a busy day like today but they have plenty though. My wife said this was a good upgrade from the old Taco Bell that used to be here but I just wish they would've left the old architecture from the old school Taco Bell building!. We'll definitely be back for more!

Angel L.

Yelp
Great people and really good food. It's really clean and close to the beach too. This place is my go too spot

Methvindi R.

Yelp
food was amazing and the service too. David is the best. definitely go to this place.

Yelp
Great food! Reasonable prices and super friendly staff. This place is SO good. love it!!!!!!

Yelp
Finally back on California grounds & had a craving for carne asada tacos so before heading to my parents house for R&R for the next couple days we decided to try The Taco Stand and oh my goodness the best food ever in the OC ! Service was great they really listened to my order which sometimes I can be complexed on what I'm putting into my body but they got my order right ! So if you're around and about Laguna stop by and get your feel of some real Mexican food where you're ambience is breezy Peezy !

Michael R.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was good, the view by the beach was amazing and very mesmerizing.

Caitlyn S.

Yelp
best tacos in Laguna !!! Amazing service, clean indoor seating, and best tacos in town. If you're looking for quality Mexican food in the area don't waste your time or money at some fancy spot - this is the place. Also, make sure you get the churros for a lil sweet treat

Kaylie B.

Yelp
Very good food and service, I got a california burrito and it was very cheesy and yummy ! My server was very nice!

Yelp
If I were to recommend a taco place in America, this would definitely be it. The taste, portion size, and value for money all satisfy. However, the inside is a bit dirty.
google avatar

Amanda N.

Yelp
Disappointing Decline in service and iffy Food cleanliness. I've been coming here for years and used to love this place, great food, friendly staff, and reliable quality. Sadly, that's changed. The service has become rude and unaccommodating. I have celiac disease and can't eat tortillas, so I've always ordered my meat in a bowl or one of their small containers. Recently, they refused to do this, even when I offered to pay for a full burrito and just have it placed in a container. The staff said no and acted annoyed while holding up the line. She made the lady behind me so upset she left. To make matters worse, the meat quality has gone downhill, chewy, bland, and not what it used to be. This place used to be a Laguna Beach gem, but it's lost its charm and customer care. Really disappointing. I won't be back unless things change.
google avatar

Andres C.

Yelp
Words or pictures do NOT do justice to describe how great the food is. Long lines can confirm it. Lack of seating is not a deterrent for people to enjoy this place and the amazing food. The price is unbelievably low compared to other mediocre "Mexican restaurants".

Gee T.

Yelp
David was amazing! Service and food always a hit! Churros are a must try! California burrito is a classic
google avatar

Vitta P.

Yelp
okay confused why they only have 4 stars?! this place was so good! Small shop, but packed! With people. I ordered a coke, Baja fish tacos, and churros and guess what only $13! Is that a joke, no I am being serious. And everything is made fresh, and not using cheap ingredients. The tacos so good, really messy and big. Fish was perfectly fried! The churros- not your normal Costco churros. These were homemade, fried and tossed in sugar. They were perfect! Overall, I will come back here!
google avatar

Marjon F.

Yelp
I was visiting my parents in OC with my fiance, and we were craving tacos. We stopped by here around 2:30 p.m. on friday, we just missed the crowd, luckily. I've had Taco Stand another locations, and love the consistency and quality and taste. My first time trying their mushroom taco, and I'd say it was one of my favorite tacos here! For not being a vegetarian, I feel like that should say a lot! The Mahi Mai and carne asada are also in my top favorites. We also ordered the guacamole and chips, the chips tasted fresh and we're so tasty you could eat them plain! There's also a large parking lot next to the restaurant, so takes away the challenge of looking for parking. Definitely recommended this spot if you're in the area and looking for some Tasty Tacos or burritos!!

Rachel K.

Yelp
The California burrito, shrimp taco, and churros were all very good! We loved the salsa bar with a wide variety of different flavors to choose from! The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly and efficient. Good portions for the price.
google avatar

Sara W.

Yelp
Im not kidding when I say I've never had a better burrito in my life. My husband and I had a long day and we were looking for something quick and ran across this restaurant thinking nothing of it. We got their carne asada burrito, Baja taco, carne asada taco, and Al pastor taco. We didn't realize our lives would change forever. The meat is FRESH and TENDER!!! Their salsa's are all amazing AAANNNDDD they have pickled onions for your pickings. It's the details for me. We walked out paying $27 but having a truly life changing experience. I cannot recommend this place enough. I didn't take a picture before because, like I said, I did not expect much but I made sure to a picture after to show you we not only licked our plates clean, I practically licked the salsa cups clean too. 10/10!!!!! No notes.

Steve G.

Yelp
The food is amazing, but the service is just as good. And to top it all off you can grab hot tacos and watch the sunset. GOATed!!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Han Y.

Yelp
Was excited to try this placed, ordered 8 tacos and extremely disappointed that none of them were good. Growing up in LA I had my fair share of tacos and these were definitely the worst. The chicken was cold and some even raw. I'm praying my husband and I don't get food poisoning. Avoid this place, if you try it please check the meat before eating.

Roman L.

Yelp
This place is hands down the greatest Mexican spot in OC! The California burrito is a must and David who took my order is amazing. Great service and the vibe was great. Good people, good vibes, good times!

Julian N.

Yelp
Tacos are amazing tacos Al pastor are a must try!! Amazing handmade fresh tortillas with good flavor. The restaurant overall has good seating and a nice outside service was amazing overall!
google avatar

Athéna T.

Yelp
We were at Laguna beach and after a while of being at the beach we decided we would like fish tacos ! I was very excited once i saw they had Mahi Mahi grilled tacos and i couldn't wait to try it out! The tacos were very loaded and generous portions, however one single tortilla for so many heavy toppings + fish was too much- but i'm actually not complaining because that shows they give you what you pay for and fill it up! double tortilla would definitely hold it all up together. The flavor was on point and i loved that they had added avocado and i was able to request no chipotle sauce on my mahi mahi tacos and wow! just so delicious. They are priced really well for the quality and i definitely recommend!
google avatar

Destiny C.

Yelp
This place was AMAZING!! I'm so sad it's so far from us, we're from LA. There was a constant line and not many tables, and parking is limited, but wow!! The food made up for it! We got carne asada fries and California burrito. The fries.. wow!! The meat is so juicy and tasty and high quality meat! The fries are crispy and soft and the melted cheese is so good! Especially the guac! His carne asada/ Cali burrito was equally just as good! The tortillas are so good! Wish I got a pic before we demolished it! Honestly, I think I'd do the 1.5hr drive again just to eat here! Worth it!!
google avatar

Bret Q.

Yelp
Absolutely my favorite spot! Al pastor tacos and California burritos are next level! Highly recommend this spot!

Annette M.

Yelp
Amazing service and very tasty Al pastor!! I also love that they have tacos de nopal! Not easy to find around here, so I was surprised to see it

Natanya G.

Yelp
Such a good California Burrito just a short walk from downtown Laguna. A must visit if you are in Laguna!
google avatar

Cici C.

Yelp
We were driving by and the place was still packed at 3pm on a weekday. So of course we decided to try it. Delicious! Taqueria no frills Mexican food. I had the Mar y Tierra Burrito. You can add cheese, beans and rice if you like but the standard is chipotle sauce, cabbage, premium steak and the shrimp tasted fresh. Very tasty. My friend had the volcan (not on the menu) tacos. We also got chips (very nice, not greasy) and guacamole. Their salsa bar has 5 tasty salsas and condiments. They blast the music but the music is good.
