Car Crashes Into Iconic Las Vegas Dive Bar | Eater Vegas

"Tijuana-style taqueria expanding in Las Vegas: the San Diego-based Mexican restaurant opened on Spring Mountain Road in 2020 with a menu of Tijuana-style tacos and California burritos, and a new Summerlin location opens Monday, August 11 at 1100 South Fort Apache Road, Suite 150, with carne asada tacos, fruity paletas, and hot, sugary churros." - Janna Karel

Went in today for the first time at 11:30AM on a Friday and we barely beat the lunch rush. By 11:45AM the line was out the door. The food is made fresh and this is about to be your new favorite taco spot. The carne asada, shrimp, and chicken tacos stand out, but the fries! Oh girl! The fries are heaven. Not greasy or soggy and perfectly loaded. We did the shrimp and carne asada fries, which were delicious. The quality is impressive! Be aware: one taco is actually a lot of food. I couldn’t finish everything I ordered. Oh! And the churros! Better than Disneyland!

Google
Ordered the Asada, Fish, Pollo, Shrimp tacos, and per my husband - the freshness he gave it a five, but flavor a three. I only had the quesadilla and nothing special about it. I do recommend sitting at the bar area. Watching them make and cook the orders was entertaining.

Been a while since eating at their San Diego branch. Now in Vegas with two locations- Chinatown and Summerlin. Menu is simple- tacos, burritos, nachos, churros, and street corn. But good choices of vegetables and protein- too bad they don’t have cabeza or trepas. They have a salsa and sauce bar. The tacos are very good and tasteful. Service is quick. Definitely coming back

As a taco lover, I was very ecstatic to see this spot open up near me, since I’ve only heard wonderful reviews about this place. As soon as we opened the doors, we noticed there was a line wrapped around the restaurant with every table filled with patrons. There was a bit of a wait, but it gave me enough time to snag a table while my husband waited to order our meals. When I sat down, I noticed the table had drink holders on the side, which made things very convenient, especially when you order a ton of food. These useful contraptions held our bottled drinks in place, making sure to avoid any accidental spillage. I ordered 3 tacos (Pollo Asado, Camaron, Al Pastor) and my husband ordered 3 as well (Al Pastor x2, Baja) with a side of their Carne Asada Fries and a couple bottled drinks. Even though we waited for quite some time, the food came out freshly prepared and piping hot. All of the tacos were packed with fresh veggies, homemade salsa and perfectly seasoned meats/seafood. The freshly made tortillas were soft, pliable and very flavorful. The fries were nice and crispy, the guacamole was pretty good, but the Carne Asada was cut in big pieces and lacked a bit of flavor. Overall, the food was definitely worth the hype, so we’ll definitely be back for more tacos!

Google
Absolutely loved this place. The Taco Stand in Summerlin is definitely one of the best spots for tacos in Las Vegas. The food is fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Everything tastes authentic. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is great, casual, and clean. I will definitely be coming back soon. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves real Mexican street-style tacos.

Google
The Al Pastor tacos are to die for. Truly a new favorite spot for tacos. The bean and cheese burrito is a large size and has a very homemade taste that reminds me of abuela's beans. The salsa stand offers a variety of spices from basic salsa to fire sauce. I will definitely recommend this establishment and be back again and again. The Taco Stand stands on business with a excellent product at a great price.

Google
Loved it! Burritos, tacos, fries, corn on cob, quesadillas & extras! Like paletas and churros! Salsa bar and fresh drinks like horchata and hibiscus water. Sooo good! This place is always busy so be ready to hunt for table! :D

Google
I was pleased to find out that my favorite Mexican restaurant in Las Vegas opened a new location, so I don’t have to drive all the way to their popular old spot closer to the Strip anymore. The new location is just as good! The food is amazing, and the tacos are well thought out - I highly recommend them. They also have a self-serve counter with excellent salsas. The place was quite packed when we got there, so expect a little wait, but it’s definitely tolerable.

Yelp
Best tacos in the United States. The ambiance is amazing and the food is even better!!!

Yelp
Came in on the grand opening! Although the line was out the door, the team did an efficient job getting these orders out! Seriously the best tacos in town! Good job! Shout out to Gretchen from the Construction and development side!

Yelp
I am so glad they opened a location in the summerlin/peccole ranch area! This one is on the intersection of Charleston/ft Apache. The tacos are to die for, our family favorite is El pastor. However this time we also tried baja which is excellent, with delicious fried fish. The best part is their salsa bar with different types of salsa and aioli. I would recommend buying a bag of their house made chips ($4.75) and enjoy them with their various salsa as you await your freshly made tacos. The ambiance is bright and fresh.

Yelp
The Taco Stand just opened recently at this location. I've been there several times now. Each visit has been EXCELLENT. The Carne Asada Tacos on a handmade corn tortilla are the best I've had here in Las Vegas. The meat was high quality, and perfectly cooked, (medium rare). I also recommend the Baja Fish Tacos. They are battered and fried with cabbage, tomato, and chipotle crema. DELICIOUS!! Their salsa bar is GREAT too, offering multiple salsas and cremas of varying heat and flavor. My first visit, I tried the Pollo Asado Burrito. It was so Good. I also recommend the churros. They are served with lots of cinnamon sugar and a frosting dipping sauce. The service is helpful and friendly. The ambiance is comfortable, modern Baja Beach meets modern, funky industrial, quite charming and welcoming. Please keep making and serving this OUTSTANDING authentic Mexican Food. LOVE IT!!

Yelp
Could not be happier with this new location that just opened last Monday. So much closer to home which means I will be here more often. YAY! We went on a weekday evening right before the dinner rush arrived. This new location is larger than the original on Spring Mountain Road. Easy parking in this strip plaza. We ordered our usual shrimp tacos, fish tacos and al pastor tacos at the counter along with our Mexican Cokes. Everything is made fresh to order and is consistently damn DELICIOUS! Service is always friendly and helpful. Little did I know when I discovered The Taco Stand in San Diego years ago that they would become one of my favorite Mexican food staples here at home. Welcome to the neighborhood and may you have extraordinary success!

Yelp
The Taco Stand was a great spot for quality tacos. There is a thought that this would be similar to "the other taco place" in Vegas that does Tijuana style tacos. These two places are different. The inside of the Taco Stand has authentic loteria paintings and pretty minimal decor. It's loud but not overwhelming. You order at the counter and it's all one counter with only one register so lines can get a little longer. We had the Asada fries, but subbed chicken. Al pastor, asada, and a Baja taco. We wanted to try a variety. The fries were great crispy crunchy loaded with sour cream, guacamole, cheese sauce, and toppings. I'm not a huge fan of the melted cheese sauce, but it was quality. The tacos were delicious. The asada was big chunks and covered in guacamole. The Al pastor was crispy with pineapple and full of flavor. The Baja taco was fried fish, it had a lot of potential with the Baja sauce, but the fish was a little under seasoned. It could've used a bit of salt. Overall good place for some tacos.

Yelp
Fantastic! A little chaotic but I know its new, but none the less, everyone was super friendly. I placed a mobile order, I got there a little early so it wasn't ready. I went to the salsa bar and it was full of goodies. My only suggestion, is maybe someone checks on it once in a while because it was looking kinda messy. I ordered the chicken quesadilla with a side of guac and salsa verde. The salsas from the salsa bar slap as well! Everything was super fresh and super big portion.

Yelp
New location! Just opened a few days ago. Being newly opened it was busy . We beat the lunch rush when we arrived. After ordering the line started to get long (out the door). This location is a little bigger than the ChinaTown location. Service was great. Food was made fresh and ready in a bout 10-15 min. We ordered the usual- El Pastor taco, El pollo taco, beef/shrimp burrito, etc. Added a fish Taco to try and OMG. The fish is huge! Perfectly fried! Yummm. Food was delicious as always! Wish they open a location near Mtns Edge/Southwest area!

Yelp
Yes, I went this morning when they opened at 10 obviously it's gonna be super clean in there the next day if they're on top of their stuff which it was. Smelled so good in there like meat cooking bec it was freshly put on. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. There beans are lard free!! thank you!! the only downside is they need a little bit of salt in my opinion. I understand they make everything fresh, so it takes kind of a while to get, but wasn't bad still. Also ordered Carne Asada fries minus the meat sub beans again the beans, need a little bit of salt in my opinion perhaps if you eat salsa then that would be a perfect to swap! no salt add salsa. The french fries were good as well!! Fries, beans, cheese, sour cream, guac. They are pretty big, I could eat the rest later for dinner. Will definitely be back this time. Will try the salsa this time.

Yelp
Al Pastor burrito - meat was drier than when we tried it at the San Diego location. Tried their carne asada fries for the firsts time, meat was delicious and tender and fries were perfect texture, guac tasted amazing, but the excessive nacho cheese kind of ruined the last half of the fries. Great salsa bar - loved the salsa habanero the most. Horchata was perfect. Staff members were very nice and friendly. Overall, I wish the best for this new location - we might be back because weee a sucker for TJ-style Mexican food.

Yelp
I'm very excited about this new location. It was quite busy when I arrived but, they were well staffed & working like a well oiled machine. Service was friendly & the food was delicious as usual. I had a Shrimp Taco & Carne Asada Fries. I'm a forever patron!

Yelp
Taco Stand is a chain and it's by far the best fast casual Mexican food with fresh ingredients at very reasonable prices. So happy that they opened in Summerlin, just off Charleston and Fort Apache (former spot of Cupbop), tapping into the local market. The location in Chinatown on Spring Mountain near the Strip was just too far for most local folks to go on a regular basis. I have tried just about everything on the menu, and while their tacos are legit and good sized, I really love their burritos and loaded fries. At around $10-11 each, it's a great deal. Many Mexican food spots around town are charging $13-16 for a burrito these days -- and that includes chains like Chipotle, Tacos El Gordo, Roberto's, Rivas, Habaneros, etc. It's definitely a lot less expensive than Los Tacos No. 1 in the NYC area. They don't skimp on the protein either. I love getting the mar y tierra (surf and turf) items. The carne asada is tender, and the shrimp is plump and juicy. Hopefully they'll open another location further south. I'll definitely be back for more.

Yelp
Accidentally walked in on their soft opening and the guys we lcomed me in with open arms. If you've been to the one on spring mountain you already know. Fresh, simple ingredients, great prices. I'm excited to have them in Summerlin now. Thanks guys!!! See you on 8/11!!

Yelp
New favorite spot on my side of town! Perfect Friday lunch after a big sesh at the gym (PF is in the same parking lot) I loooove that they have pickled cebollas in the salsa bar, no one ever does that! Tried a toco line up inc. Pescado, Al Pastor, Pollo and Carne Asada. All were delicious, but I gotta go with the Pastor as my fave since they shave it right there and actually add pineapple piecesLooking forward to trying the burritos and corn cob next. Thank you Taco Stand!

Dave K.

Yelp
A must-visit for taco lovers! The Taco Stand nails the essentials--fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and fast service. I tried the Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos, and both were packed with flavor and perfectly grilled. The salsa bar is a standout, offering everything from smoky macha to tangy verde. The churros? Fresh, crispy, and addictive. Service was friendly and efficient, and the ambiance is casual but inviting--great for a quick bite or a laid-back dinner. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and the menu has enough variety to keep things interesting. Highly recommend the Carne Asada Fries if you're hungry.

Yelp
Very excited to have a taco stand so close to home! I'm originally from San Diego area so having a taco stand close to our part of town makes us so happy! The best atmosphere in there from the backyard tables to the loud music. The staff is always very friendly and seem to be having fun at work even when they're at peak hours. Every item is made to order you'll notice as you watch the staff hustling in that kitchen so be patient they are making everything with love. The mar Y Tierra burrito is my personal favorite, the steak marinade is so fresh and the shrimps are juicyyyyyyyyy! My partner had the shrimp burrito and they do not hold back. We also tried the Vulcans which is essentially a tostada with melted cheese, onions cilantro and protein. We had the al pastor and the carne asada. The salsa bar is not to be taken lightly either! So many great recipes for all kinds of pallets. If you like spicy that habanero is the choice while also maintaining a good flavor, something lighter then the avocado cilantro salsa goes well with everything! Remember everyone Mexican food is meant to be enhanced with salsa so find one that works for you and go crazy! So happy to have our neighborhood Mexican spot!

Yelp
I was their first customer during their soft opening so I would expect problems...NOPE! So glad they are now closer to me near Summerlin! The food is awesome, love the salsas, just PLEASE get rid of the paper straws! This is not communist California! This will be my weekly fix for awesome Mexican food! You have to try this place! Best in Vegas!

Yelp
Shrimp were still cold and Raw.Steak was Cold as Well.I Hope they get the cooks in order as I really like the one on spring mountain. Adjustments needed.
google avatar

Yelp
I found the meat to be of mediocre quality. Worse than you'll find at other Mexican places of this price range. The carne asada was not seasoned very well at all and had a lot of gristle in it. The al pastor was better but that may have been more a function of the very juicy and sweet pineapple on the taco. Had been looking forward to this place opening based on it's reputation but the food was not very good. I'll give it another chance in another month or so. They had only been open a few days when I went. The corn tortillas are excellent, though. Definitely fresh made and delicious.
google avatar

Veronica V.

Yelp
The food is si delicious and it super busy. GO ENJOY SOME TACOS. Don't forget the churros
google avatar

Theresa C.

Yelp
So this is probably the best in Summerlin so I gave it an extra star. I'll still be back for convenience but if we had a Tacos El Gordo...I'd pick that over Taco Stand. The shrimp tacos were my favorite and I'd be back just for that. Carne asada didn't have the nice char to it was maybe a little under seasoned. The carne asada fries with cheese were good but might opt to do al pastor instead of carne asada meat with it. The fries were nice and crispy. The sonora is like carne asada but with cheese, beans, guac, etc. I didn't realize it had beans but it was a little much for me, so I would pass next time. Al pastor was okay but prefer the ones from tacos el gordo. The line moves fast, seems like they are pretty busy since everyone is checking the place out. Limited seating. Might check out the churros next time. Size of tacos bigger than tacos el gordo and tacos each on the pricier end.
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
The tacos were mediocre at best. While everything was fresh the tortillas were handmade and the ingredients were clearly of good quality the flavors just weren't there. I tried the carne asada, grilled fish, and al pastor tacos, and each one lacked seasoning and depth.
google avatar

Christina P.

Yelp
If you are used to good taco spots, don't waste your time or money here. Food was not good. Unseasoned meat, HUGE pieces of chicken in the burrito. Carne asada fries were soggy. Waited about 45 minutes in a hot restaurant (somehow they don't realize they need to turn their thermostat way down in August in Las Vegas, imagine that) in a line that barely moved. Brought the food home, two burritos and the sad soggy carne asada fries (we live less than 10 minutes away, so the fries definitely had to be sitting prior), there are 5 taco spots off the top of my head that are 10x better than this place. Major waste of time, money, and my taste buds.
google avatar

Matty P.

Yelp
Fire! We've needed this style of taco on the west side! Similar to Tacos El Gordo, delicious! I had the asada, the pastor, and topped it off with handmade churros. They aren't cheap, but definitely high quality

Andrew P.

Yelp
30 minutes to prepare flavorless meats while half the kitchen is standing around doing nothing. Terrible systems. Customers looking around thinking, "WTH is happening here?"Literally zero salt in some of the salsas and all the meats. Too much acidity in most of the salsas. We got shrimp, pastor, asada, and chicken, which all looked amazing but were pretty bad all around. Lot of gristle in the asada. Never had to add salt to a burrito until today. What a disrespect to the animals killed for the meat. Hot as hell inside with a broken thermostat, no fans for the customers sweating and waiting and eternity for a frickin burrito. They're boxing everyone into a tiny corner to fight for napkins and salsas. Who the frick thinks this layout is a good idea? Definitely had good experiences at the other location, but I've lost respect for this business as a whole because their teams clearly have terrible SOPs, don't use recipes, and are managed by some dudes who look like they're just rolling around in the money coming in. One can only hope they look at FREE feedback like this and start respecting themselves, their customers, and the amount of capital required to get a place like this off the ground. 1 star experience, 2 star rating because I'm actually a nice person and they're a new business. Perhaps poorly ran businesses should probably fail and make room for better ones. Idk, that's just how I feel after that meal here.

Dan V.

Yelp
Was excited about this opening, but I'm not exaggerating when I say it was a truly awful experience. We got 4 different tacos and a burrito and literally nothing was seasoned. Most bland carne asada, pollo, camarones, and al pastor I've ever had by a mile. Even the salsas were off and were either way too acidic and/or needed salt which is a shame bc their salsas are fire at the other location. It was extremely hot in the restaurant and they took forever to put food out. Came in at 4pm on a Monday and there were only a few people in line. We waited over 30m for our food. A lot of people were noticably annoyed with how long they were waiting after ordering. The workers on the line were super slow and seemed confused and standing around a lot; it kinda felt like they just don't have a proper system for anything. I've had great experiences at the Spring Mountain location so it's possible this one just hasn't figured it out yet. I'll definitely be skipping this location and going to the one on Spring Mountain for now.

Michelle F.

Yelp
From the moment you walk up, the smell alone tells you you're in for something special. The tortillas taste homemade, the fillings are fresh and flavorful, and every bite bursts with authentic seasoning and care. The carne asada is perfectly grilled, the carnitas are melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the salsa... oh my goodness, the salsa is next-level--fresh, zesty, and with just the right kick. On top of that, the service is warm and welcoming, making you feel like a regular even on your first visit. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the whole experience feels like you just discovered a hidden gem. If you haven't been yet, run--don't walk--and thank me later. This taco stand isn't just food... it's happiness wrapped in a tortilla.

Yelp
The Food we had was delicious for sure , the Al pastor tacos are fire , they are a must get ! The carne asada fries are damn good too . The fish taco was mid at best . The Taco stand was well needed for the west side of town , this location is super busy, expect to see a line , and have to wait 5-10 minutes for your food. My only real gripe is that I noticed the cook, cooking the shrimp and the meats in the same area , using the same spatula. If anybody has a shellfish allergy this could be a big problem! I hope the manager reads this and address's this issue . Besides this situation, the taco stand is offering up some delicious food , swing by and see for yourself !

Yelp
I'm giving 3 and not 2 because I know they just opened and are working out the new restaurant kinks. But to say I wasn't disappointed is an understatement since I just gave thier other spot in Chinatown 5 stars. Went to this new location and the food was nowhere near as good as the other one. They ran out of tostadas so I wasn't able to get the daily special, and the al pastor tacos did not hit the same AT ALL as the other restaurant. We ordered churros to go and the first batch they gave us were not cooked gross and super doughy inside, but the replacement churros they gave us were a little better, but nowhere near the quality of churros at the Spring Mtn location. I felt bad for the cashier because for some reason it was her job to make the churros AND run the cashier! So I watched this poor girl rush to make churros all while a line of angry customers waited to give her their order watched and shit her death looks. Thier kitchen needs to get it togetI'm going to give them another couple weeks and come back to hopefully update this review

Yelp
Food was great, salsa bar was delicious. It was very busy but still ordered and got our food in less than 25 minutes. I would definitely come back.

Nick N.

Yelp
My go-to is the steak and shrimp burrito. This franchise has many locations in California and one other in Chinatown Vegas. We came at opening night here in Summerlin around 9:00 p.m. and it was very busy on a monday. The food probably took 30 minutes to arrive.

Yelp
LOVE this place!! Sonora tacos and the Carne Asado tacos are so delicious! Also try the churros. Bomb!

S S.

Yelp
We stumbled on this location by accident and was blown away. We are fairly new to the area and hands down the best tacos we have had here since arriving. The wait was a bit long and you cannot order online so that's a bit inconvenient. However hoping things get better as this new location gets off the ground. Food was delish!!!

Kim G.

Yelp
The employees were very nice. I had a chicken burrito and it didn't have much flavor. My husband had a taco and thought the same. We were expecting something with more taste but were disappointed that there wasn't more.

Randal R.

Yelp
Super packed when we first walked in and almost left because of the line. Let me just say I'm glad we stuck around because the line moved quickly! The service was informative and friendly we ordered 3 asada tacos and 1 Cameron taco and they were amazing their sauce bar was extremely clean and constantly being restocked. Prices are reasonable and we will definitely be back!

Valeria B.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible tacos... every bite is fresh, flavorful, and unforgettable. Friendly vibes, fast service, and prices that make you want to order seconds (and thirds)

Angelic T.

Yelp
This place is so good!! The food is so fresh and yummy, I love the variety of sauces and the music tops it off! Great place that really showcases true Mexican flavors, I will definitely be coming again!! The staff is also so sweet!! No one does it better than Mexicans VIVA MEXICOOO
