We often stop by The Taco Stand after a walk or a swim in the ocean to grab some delicious tacos. I wasn’t really a fan of this type of food before — probably because I hadn’t tried anything that truly impressed me. But this place changed my mind. It’s definitely popular, and there are usually long lines — but that just means it’s worth it. The food is genuinely good. My favorites are the shrimp and chicken tacos — super flavorful and satisfying. There’s something for everyone here, whether you want to sit and eat or grab your food to go and enjoy it while walking. I really like this location. I’ve tried The Taco Stand in other places, but so far, this one is my favorite. Highly recommend!

Google
It. is. worth. the. wait. WOW!!!!! Amazing tacos, burritos, churros, salsas and last but not least service! Our food came out so so fast. This spot is amazing the food is great and the quality is the best. Truly the best tacos i have ever had and i don’t think anything could top it.

Google
Hands down the best fish taco in San Diego! Line was long but it moved pretty fast. Carne Asada taco was awesome. Perfectly seared chunky meat and so smoky and tasty. Salsa bar had different kinds of salsa and condiments. Hard to grab a seat and need to be little aggressive to secure seats since they are busy all the time. There are few tables and counter space and some outdoor seating. Definitely one of the best taco spot in west coast. Don’t miss it!

Google
This was absolutely the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had. Not exaggerating. If I lived here, I’d have a hard time not coming every day. The cilantro salsa and guac are perfect. Food came out fast and service was friendly!

Google
Amazing Mexican fast food at this joint in San Diego. They also have a spot in Laguna that I haven’t been but my son always raves about it. I got the pollo asado burrito for $10 something and it was 5/5. Amazing taste. Big pieces of chicken. The salads bar is primo. Has a few bar stools inside. Wish they had a couple of tables on the side walk however under the sun it is hot. Free parking. Fast service. Highly recommended.

Google
I’ve eaten at four locations of the Taco Stand, and this one is probably the third best of them. However, it is still amazingly good. From the fresh tortillas, to the made to order churros, this place has it all. The al pastor taco is especially memorable, but honestly, they are all top notch, including the fish taco. The only thing disappointing about this location is the service. They got my order wrong and just didn’t seem interested in fixing it. This place, like all locations, is BUSY. Come during peak times and you’re gonna have a hard time finding a place to sit, and it might take you 10-15 minutes to even place your order. Is the food worth it? Most of the time it is. You just gotta know the type of experience you’re gonna get.

Google
Tried tacos at a few places in San Diego, and I have to say—this spot is top-notch! I had the Grilled Pescado Taco, Baja Taco, and the Mar y Tierra Fries, and I highly recommend all three. The tacos were packed with flavor, and my favorite was the Grilled Pescado. Both tacos had a generous amount of fish. They also have a salsa bar with 7 different kinds of salsas and sauces—plenty of options to customize your meal. The Mar y Tierra Fries were especially impressive. For just a dollar or two more than carne asada fries, you get around 12 prawns! Totally worth it for the price. Wait time of 10-15 mins but totally worth it!

Google
Wow…this place was really good. Be prepared for a little wait to place your order… but it’s worth the wait. All tacos, burritos, churros were very good.

Yelp
I can't say that I have ever stood in line for tacos before but this was well worth the wait! Amazing food amazing customer service and did I mention amazing food?! I love that there was contactless payment to make things go quicker. Absolutely loved it and will be back again!

Yelp
carne asada burrito - 10/10 never before have I ever had such a GOOD burrito. The green sauce was amazing dip it in that and it will change your life. I ordered for the second time because it was sooo good. Tacos were good but burritos were the star of the show. Yummm!! Not a lot of seating which was unfortunate.

Yelp
Good food, but I felt like this was a more Americanized taco place. The Al Pastor was delicious that I'd give a 5/5. The shrimp taco was also good--Smokey flavor. The California burrito was tasty, but a true Americanized burrito with French fries in it.

Yelp
This was my first time at the La Jolla location. I've only been to the north park one. There is a tiny parking lot in front of the restaurant, but street parking is readily available. The restaurant itself is tiny with limited tables inside and outside. There's also room to stand and eat near the window. Servers were all friendly. Food review: The salsas at the salsa bar are all pretty tasty. Chips and guac: (3/5) nothing special. You get a lot of chips but not enough guac for them. Sonora taco: (5/5) This was super flavorful. The cheese on the tortilla gave such a nice smoky flavor to the taco. El pastor burrito: (3/5) My friend and I split this, it wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped. The meat was also very dry. I wouldn't order again. Churros: (10/5) These were some of the best damn churros I've ever had. They're soft and covered in cinnamon sugar. I could've eaten all 3 by myself. Haha

Yelp
Dare I say best mexican in the country? Always make a stop here whenever I'm visiting SD. Line will be LONG no matter what time you come, and the waiting time is similar because they really take time to craft the food with care. Seating is very limited, and you will likely not have a place to sit inside unless you happen to get here right when they open. And I would probably recommend getting take out if you have a large group. But the food makes up for it. Not only is it very affordable, but the quality and quantity are incredible. From the chips to the unique tacos to the California Burrito, it really doesn't get much better. Living on the east coast, I rarely ever get good Mexican food so it's a treat to get this when I'm here. If you're from out of state, do yourself a favor and make sure you stop by here. Highly recommend grabbing all your salsas as soon as you place your order, there is no shortage and the quality is similarly excellent. I usually prefer spicy, but interestingly it's their milder salsas that I think go best with their food, but YMMV.

Yelp
First off, is it worth it to wait in the line? YES Small price to pay for the best burritos, tacos and churros around. The line is a bit of an optical illusion, it comes out of the building and down the sidewalk because there is only one person taking orders. Keep in mind, during the touristy holiday times the line is bigger and people are ordering large qualities which creates a bit of a back up. Typically it's 30 min from line to getting your food. Yesterday it was two hours as it's the holidays. What to expect: Stand in line (typical for this location) Greeted by a super nice employee. Pro tip, order the churros as these come out first and gives you a snack while you wait on the food. After you order hit the salsa bar line so you can get a stock up of the best hot carrots, salsa, onions etc. Find a spot to stand and wait for food. There is one way in and one way out so it gets a bit crowded. If you are dining in, find a seat quick as seating is limited. Note: there is seating outside as well. Grab food when your name is called and brace yourself for some amazing Mexican grub! Our order was churros (of course), Camarón burrito, California burrito, and a Baja taco. Baja taco is a little bit larger than street size, large chunk of fish and the fixins, it was fantastic! Camarón (not Cameron lol) burrito was stock full of shrimp, fresh avocado, cabbage, chipotle sauce, tomato, seasoned perfectly and was a full meal! California burrito had steak cubes grilled to perfection, awesome fries, cheese, guac, sour cream, tomato, salsa and was definitely one of the best I have ever tried Parking is in the lot or street. This area has so much to do and see, don't be afraid to park on a side street and take in this awesome location. Close to the Comedy Store, high end vehicle sales, or take the food, enjoy a quick drive west on Pearl and jump on Coast blvd to eat right on the beach.

Yelp
Excellent spot for fish tacos in La Jolla. We waited in line for close to an hour, but it was worth it! The tacos are excellent - we loved the baja fish, shrimp, and al pastor. The only one that I wouldn't recommend is the mushroom taco. It's just sauteed mushrooms surrounded by a tortilla. They have a selection of self-serve salsas in the corner. Sit at the bar or one of the few tables outside if you're lucky enough to snag a spot. Otherwise, take it to go; there is a nearby park. Overall, another addition to the great list of amazing taco places in the San Diego area.

Yelp
Overall, a solid place for Mexican, but it may not be worth the wait and parking difficulties. I have tried this place 3 times now before writing this review. I wasn't too impressed by it, and thought I was missing something since everyone else seems to love it. I do appreciate how fresh their ingredients are, however, I would probably go to Tacos El Gordo (Chula Vista location) for their al pastor over this place because I like my corn tortillas heated up on the griddle in that pork grease. My favorite things here are their burritos - best bang for buck. Al pastor, chicken, steak, fried fish - all taste good. Their mar y tierra fries are the battered fry type loaded with processed nacho cheese with limited sprinkling of shredded cheese - load it up with sauce! Churros are a little doughy but have good flavor and come with condensed milk (my favorite churros in SD are at Las Americas Churros El Tigre). Condiments bar has different salsas and a cilantro crema and chipotle crema. Every time I've come here on a weekend, it has been absolutely packed. There is a long line to order, to get your drink, to get salsa... hard to find a place to sit... and parking is very limited given the small lot although you might be able to find something in the residential streets nearby. It was a lot more manageable on a weekday around 2pm. Order online ahead of time to avoid the wait. Note that there doesn't seem to be a restroom in the restaurant.

Yelp
I haven't stood in line for tacos (or fries as the case may be) in a long time! But I did this time and it was worth it. The shrimp on the Mar y Tierra fries was amazing. Crisp, spiced just the way shrimp should be. The fries were crisp (not gluten free) and no sour cream! The tacos were also great. Mushrooms cooked to perfection. The salsa bar was amazing great bonus. The hot is hot. Which I love. They were out for he Chipotle so can't comment on that. The aesthetic is your typical taco stand. Ha! See what I did there. I would go back and order three tacos to try again. Great place to go before a show at The Comedy Store!

Yelp
Did I just find the holy grail because I feel like I'm in Taco Heaven! Sorry Tacos El Gordo, but this is without a doubt my new all time favorite spot for tacos! My fiancé and I wanted to eat before heading to La Jolla Cove and arrived right when they opened. Fortunately there was no line so service was quick. We shared a Pescado (grilled fish), Baja (batter fried fish), Camaron (spicy shrimp), 2x Carne Asada, 2x Al Pastor tacos, and an Al Pastor Burrito. Everything tasted AMAZING! The shrimp was fresh and the spices complimented its natural sweetness. Even though the carne asada is more IG worthy because of the healthy serving of guac, I firmly believe the real star of the show is the Al Pastor. The seasoning is prominent and savory perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the pineapple. I love how they give you plenty of juicy tender meat topped with that delicious crema. Purely divine! I wasn't ready to let this experience end so I ordered another Al Pastor burrito so I could eat it on the go haha! The fact that it's STUFFED with all the good stuff (Meat, guac, and salsa) and no fillers (rice) makes this SUPER WORTH IT. My only regret is not having enough room to try their Mar Y Tierra Fries which has both Carne Asada and shrimp. The cost is comparable (and sometimes cheaper) to Tacos El Gordo without having to awkwardly lineup for each meat line. I'd highly recommend this and I can't wait to come back for more!

Yelp
The Taco Stand would be in our regular rotation but the line is just unbearable most days. Don't get me wrong, this food is top notch, but waiting sometimes 30 to 45 minutes at a fast food joint is just too much. But...you can't blame them for having a line. That's a sign that they're doing something right. And boyyy oh boyyyy was I happy that we went ahead and waited. Usually I get the fish tacos but today we shared an al pastor burrito and added cabbage. Just an absolutely outstanding burrito. So delicious with the fatty meat and the sweet/tangy/acidic pineapple...ugh. If you're looking for suggestions, take this as an endorsement of this burrito. Bottom line- budget maybe an hour to order and eat and then you won't be caught off guard. And you can't go wrong with the fish tacos or the Al pastor burrito.

Yelp
The perfect post-beach tacos! My friends and I were ravenous for some food and decided to go here - extremely delicious and it hit the satisfaction for a taco craving :) RECOMMEND ** Al Pastor - Taco & Burrito

Yelp
We made a stop at The Taco Stand in La Jolla before heading to a round at Torrey Pines, on a local friend's recommendation. Being Texans born and raised, we tend to be skeptical about finding great Mexican food outside of Texas--but this place blew us away. From the moment we walked in and saw the handwritten menu on sheet metal, we knew we were in for the real deal. I'm usually not a huge fan of burritos, but the chorizo and egg breakfast burrito here changed my mind. It was hands-down the best burrito I've ever had!
google avatar

Rachel T.

Yelp
Wow.. I came here at 9:15 am bc I was hungry on eastern time. It was amazing. We ordered the el pastor volvan taco, pollo asada, and camaron taco (spicy shrimp). Ordered some churros for dessert. The spicy shrimp was amazing. The cheese seems to be grilled onto the tortilla and then the rest of the food goes on. When you take a bite, a long strand of cheese comes with. The cabbage in the shrimp taco was fresh and with the sauce, an amazing burst of flavors. A random find while walking along La Jolla coves. I"ll have to come back another time and try the burritos!
google avatar

Jenny N.

Yelp
Cameron burrito is filling. I love that they made it with large shrimps. The cilantro and chipotle sauces are creamy. Difficult to find parking spot so don't come around lunch or dinner time.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
I'm giving this a 5/5 because food, service, and ambience was great! Let's start with food. You must order the al pastor. We also loved the Baja and carne asada. Burrito was solid. It was juicy and the carne asada actually was tender not the dry hard kind. Baja was crunchy yet still had fresh fish texture in the middle Al pastor must be their speciality. It was a great texture, taste and I love those pineapples. Churros are great too I was surprised since I'm partial to Disneyland churros for comparisons. It was still good with more of a cake density but still fluffy. They also have a whole bunch of sauces to try. What's cool is the outdoor bench seating. It was a vibe. Loved that they built that out.
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
I can understand why The Taco Stand is such an iconic staple in La Jolla. The vibe is casual, and the food is delicious. There's usually a line, but on this Thursday afternoon, there was only 1 person ahead of us. They serve tacos and burritos. We went for the tacos and wow are they good. There's a station in the back with various salsas, sauces, and condiments. There are some tables inside and some benches outside. Their tortillas are soft and they don't fall apart, even with the generous filling inside each taco. They have 2 fish tacos, grilled or fried. The grilled Pescado taco was so good, with lots of toppings and a generous chunk of avocado. The al pastor tacos are tangy and slightly sweet with a hint of pineapple. One of our favorites is the Senora taco with steak and beans on a grilled flour tortilla. The only negative is the guy taking the orders was a little intimidating. He didn't take my 10% off Yelp check in because I didn't show him before I placed my order. It's not a big deal, but just the way he said it. But the food made up for the awkward beginning.
google avatar

Nina C.

Yelp
-1 star for the length of the line and the wait. I think we waited at least 30 min. The one in north park tasted pretty much the same to me and there was no wait. Otherwise, the food was delicious. I went to their north park location a few days prior and wanted to see if this branch tastes better, but imo they were about the same. I got some adobada, Baja, and shrimp. Adobada was ok. The baja were really good! The fish was just the right amount of crispiness and the cabbage adds a good texture. The shrimp was also quite good!
google avatar

Ted A.

Yelp
The tacos really aren't anything special. The shop is filled with cooking smoke. There is no easy parking. There can sometimes be a long line. The price is fine. There is very limited seating area. I just don't think this store is representative of how good San Diego's Mexican food can be!
google avatar

Justin A.

Yelp
The Taco Stand isn't the first place I've eaten at since coming to San Diego, but it's the first place I've felt the need to Yelp almost immediately. Seriously, the food is that good. I ended up getting an Al pastor and carne asada taco. The carne asada was definitely good with really tender steak, but the flavor wasn't huge. The Al Pastor was amazing though. A perfect blend of sweet and salty made me wish I ordered more of them. I also got an order of the hot churros, and I can't recommend them enough. The sweetened condensed milk dipping sauce was perfectly sweet and complemented the churros well. These might be the best churros I've ever eaten.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
Small restaurant with no restrooms. I loved the tacos. The food here is really good! Service is just a walk up and order with room for like 20 ppl in total. I would go back for sure. I think I got lucky by only having to wait 3 minutes (11:30 am on Sunday) because I drove by hours later and there was a huge line. Got pastor, grilled fish and Baja taco, a long with a carne asada burrito. Grilled fish was actually amazing!
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
They have a line for a reason. Their food is legit. Asada has a flavor that seems to be marinaded in chimichuri and unique. Only had that once before and loved it. Al pastor, shrimp and nopal were also pretty good, but asada was definitely the stand out and worth every minute in line. They have a lot of salsas to mix and match. If I have one complaint, it's the location of the salsa bar. Gets crowded in the back corner and you get stuck back there, but people are pretty patient and know it's worth the wait. Definitely worth the trip to La Jolla, which says a lot as there are a ton of great tacos all over SD. Bravo!
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
This is is the kind of place you hope to stumble upon--a small, unassuming gem that exceeds every expectation. From the moment you walk in, it's clear this spot is all about authenticity and freshness. Sitting at the counter was a treat in itself. Watching the cook roll out fresh tortillas and toss them on the grill was mesmerizing. Another chef was expertly shaving pork off the spit, a testament to how seriously they take their craft. The Al Pastor tacos? Absolutely next level. The meat was perfectly seasoned and tender, paired with those freshly made tortillas--it's easily the best Al Pastor I've had anywhere in the U.S. Don't skip dessert! The churros were incredible - crispy, warm, and just the right amount of sweetness. With friendly staff and a humble atmosphere, The Taco Stand delivers on every front. Can't wait to go back!

Josiane A.

Yelp
This was our first stop when we got to San Diego. We did not have a wait, though I hear sometimes the line can be around the block and it is well worth it. I had the carne asada, carnitas and camaron tacos as well as the corn on the cob and my partner had the carne asada fries as well as the carne asada and pollo asada tacos. We enjoyed every single thing we had. The food is flavored to perfection. The house made salsas are amazing, I tried all of them and they have various ranges from mild to hot. Honesty, I couldn't pick a favorite salsa because they were all so delicious. The space is small, there are 4 tables inside and 2 bar areas with ~ 4 seats each, there are a few tables outside as well. Overall I would highly recommend! The only reason why I didn't give it the full 5 stars is because online they offer a lengua taco (my favorite) but this particular location did not have that and that was the one i was most looking forward to trying.
google avatar

Kimberly P.

Yelp
[ Food ] I had the Mar Y Tierra Fries and it was good! The proportions were big and it had everything I like, such as, steak, shrimp, fries, guacamole, and cheese. You also can't forget the cilantro sauce, so yummy! [ Service ] Customer service was okay, they're super busy. [ Parking ] We found street parking in the residential area about a block away. [ Restroom ] There are no restrooms.
google avatar

Brooke A.

Yelp
Usually I would not wait in a half-hour line for casual food, but I had some time to spare after a long day and long run. The Taco Stand was absolutely worth the wait. It's the perfect casual spot to grab food to take to the beach, or to eat outdoors late at night. I got the Surf and Turf burrito, and it was decidedly the best meal of my entire trip. Without even adding sauce, the burrito was extremely flavorful, from the well-seasoned shrimp to the ripe avocado to the homemade tortilla. I also loved the salsa bar here. I felt that the pickled onions shined above any I've had before - they had an awesome kick to them. I also loved the tomatillo salsa verde. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Nicole W.

Yelp
A small taco shop with very friendly employees and delicious tacos! Limited seating inside, but there are also some tables outside. Love the self serve salsa bar but it can feel crowded when people line up for it. Pretty generous and flavorful filling, but tortillas easily fall apart. The only downside is their limited vegetarian options as my friend disliked their nopal and mushroom tacos. Overall, would recommend their meat tacos and will come back to try their other proteins!
google avatar

Jennifer P.

Yelp
**I highly recommend the Taco Stand in North Park! Quality + taste of the food depends on the location. I've tried Encinitas, North Park, and Clairemont locations and visited this La Jolla for the first time on Friday evening. I waited 30min for a Shrimp Burrito and Al Pastor Taco. Food came out cold and my taco came with a strand of hair. I understand that they are busy but I would not have waited for the food in store if I knew that my food will come out cold with hair..
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
Super busy but line moved at a decent pace and the staff were so friendly and efficient. I loved their cilantro sauce and pickled onions offered at the salsa bar. My friend and I ordered the chicken and grilled fish burritos and they were absolutely delicious and massive.
google avatar

Marlene G.

Yelp
Taco Stand is an awesome spot for anytime in the day! I love their tacos and churros (but unfortunately today their churro machine was broken :( ) The place itself has seating indoors and outdoors, but nowhere near enough to accommodate the line that is usually outside. I like to take their tacos to go and eat somewhere cute nearby! Today we got: - baja fish taco - battered fish with slaw and salsa! - carne asada taco - comes with guac which is my fave part! - grilled pescado taco - a good portion of fish (today was mahi mahi) and a slaw and salsa - carne asada volcan - a personal favorite because they melt cheese on top of a tostada and top it with different meats Another great part is that they have a self-serve sauce station where you can add all sorts of sauces, pickled onions, pico de gallo, limes, and more to enhance your meal

Gerald T.

Yelp
The food was outstanding! The family loved the fish tacos and carne asada burrito. The staff was great and I really appreciated the service.
google avatar

Renee T.

Yelp
Amazing little spot for late night tacos, burritos, and corn on the cob!! My friend had the California burrito, and I snuck in a little bite. It was delicious, and I loved the steak and avocado. The flavors were good, and she liked that the tortilla was soft. I had the corn on the cob, which I have never had before. It was so good, I loved the flavor of it. We also each had a Mexican Coke, highly recommend getting yourself a little cane sugar goodness. Service was fast, workers were friendly, it was pretty busy, but we found a cute little spot.

Yelp
Despite hikes in price, The Taco Stand remains one of the most bang-for-your-buck spots in the overpriced tourist areas of La Jolla. I believe they make everything to order, so you are getting wonderfully hot, fresh food. There is a bit more of a wait compared to other taco spots I love, such as Tacos El Gordo, but its a tasty spot in its own right. Special shout-out to the EXTENSIVE toppings bar, as that is one place it stands out. So many types of salsa, from fresh to creamy, chunky to smooth, helpfully labeled by spice level. Though cramped, the restaurant is lovingly decorated and customers move through fairly quickly, so seating is not totally impossible One recent morning, after grabbing a smoothie from the spot next door, I wander into The Taco Stand, magnetically attracted by the smell of fresh tortillas and the irresistible call of no lines. I order the fried fish taco to balance out the health benefits of my fruit smoothie. The fish is fresh fried with the most light and airy batter, flavorful and not too greasy. Paired with the crunchy coleslaw and soft, warm, tortilla, dripping in sauces, it is an absolute DELIGHT to eat. I am so glad to be in SD, where I get amazing tacos like this! The Taco Stand is definitely a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, and I am glad there are other Taco Stands in less crowded areas, so that I can get my fix wherever I am, whenever the craving hits.
google avatar

Megan Y.

Yelp
Totally a SD staple. We came on a Monday night and it was really crowded, but heard that this was considered a light crowd. They do have tables inside and outside but you really have to watch them like a hawk to claim one as soon as the last party gets up. We managed to snag one inside which was clutch, but it was really smoky from the grills so that was a bit hard to deal with while eating. All our food was delicious, we split carne asada fries, california burritos, al pastor tacos, and fish tacos. The sauces are all fire too, and love that they label the spice levels!
google avatar

Karson S.

Yelp
Lives up to the hype - the line wasn't too bad on a Sunday just before noon. Super fresh ingredients and really you couldn't go wrong with anything on the menu. I tried 3 types of tacos and they were all excellent - my favorite by a hair probably being the spicy shrimp. Boyfriend got the steak & shrimp burrito and damn, it was good. Will be dreaming about that one. The churros were also great - a bit softer in the middle than a typical Disneyland churro which was honestly a nice change of pace. The inside is a bit small (outside has some seating as well), super casual, we were able to grab a table as another couple was departing. Sauce area was great with great selection. Literally a perfect stop after an early morning swim / kayak.
google avatar

Abby P.

Yelp
Really incredible and fresh tacos. And the CHURROS!!!! Best I've ever had. The line was pretty long when we got in there and it's a bit convoluted in there, but it ultimately didn't take long. I'm curious how people outside know when their food is ready because nobody was coming out calling names from what I saw. We got the food to go and drove down to the beach to enjoy. I got the spicy shrimp and fish tacos. The fish taco had so much fish in it which was amazing. The sauces were all great and again...the CHURRO. If you go for no other reason, get the churro. Would return!

Yelp
Ordered: Camaron Taco (~$4): spicy grilled shrimp with cheese, avocado, cabbage, tomato, and chipotle sauce Grilled Pescado Taco (~$4): grilled fish, cabbage, cilantro, onion, tomato, avocado, and chipotle sauce Baja Taco (~$4): battered fish, cabbage, cilantro, tomato, onion, and chipotle sauce Carne Asada Fries (~$10): flame-grilled Angus steak, fries, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese Mexican Coke (~$4) Aya's take: I'm already salivating just thinking about this. Don't let the long lines deter you from an amazing and satisfying meal. Get on that line and thank yourself later! The tacos were packed literally, and with flavor. The Baja Taco was my favorite and a must-get. We actually went back to order another one because it simply wasn't enough. The Camaron and Grilled Pescado Tacos were also really solid. The Carne Asada Fries were some of those satisfying fries I've had in a while! The steak was super tender and smoky, the fries were perfectly crispy, and the toppings were just enough to add flavor without making the fries soggy. I also love the self-serve station with various toppings and sauce. I highly recommend grabbing some to elevate your meal. Overall, this place is absolutely not overhyped; definitely come here when you're in La Jolla!

Yelp
Eh decent food but extremely slow service. They forgot my order twice. They have a few tables inside, and a few outside. The carne asada was chewy, and the cheese on the elote tasted off. My son did enjoy his California burrito, but did agree that the meat was chewy.

Yelp
Taco Stand always hits no matter the time of day. I always go for their mar y tierra fries (surf n turf)! This paired along with their salsa bar and pickled onions is *chef's kiss. The restaurant itself is pretty small. They do have some outdoor seating, but don't be alarmed when you have to eat standing or squatting. As for service, it's basically like a fast casual spot. You order the food, wait for it, and pick it up when it's ready. There isn't much interaction with the employees at all.

Yelp
After waiting for an hour in line they missed half my order. Too busy to fix their mistake and too busy to provide customers with the right order.

Yelp
Small simple taco counter with a self serve topping bar and fresh ingredients. I had a carne asada taco ($4.59) It was the best taco I'd had at the time. The taco was filled generously, and you could serve yourself a variety of sides and sauces. I loved that the taco was topped with guac, and I loved the crema you could add. We arrived at 1:30 PM on a Thursday. The line was long and it took a while for the food to arrive because it's a popular spot

Yelp
A must try in La Jolla if you are looking for a simple meal!! They stuffed their tacos it was very filling and messy but it was delicious! The wait was only 10 mins as the lines do get long but their service was very fast and self seating was fine! There's also a restroom at the pizza shop next door that they kindly let customers from taco stand use. There's a small lot for parking but there's usually some street parking near by!! Highly recommend trying if you're in the area!

Yelp
Returned for some good Mexican tacos and burritos! Prices are reasonable and the tacos are tasty. I loved that they have a sauce station to the side to get as much or as little as you want. My favorite of the sauces were the white cilantro lime sauce. Whenever we pass this place there's always a line but it generally moves quick. I wouldn't say there's very much indoor or outdoor seating areas so it's best to bring it to the beach or home to eat it. Due to the popularity there are more locations around San Diego now for convenience. A couple of my favorites are the Al pastor, carne asada, and grilled fish taco. Prices range from $4-$5 which is reasonable.

Yelp
Visit on our way to La Jolla Beach. Came across this place during our drive and saw a huge line outside. Like the yelper I am, I checked the reviews and saw they were very good, reason for the line out the door. We really wanted tacos anyways so this was meant to be. Ordered the following tacos- Carne asada- meat was really good and paired well with the cheese skirt Baja- fried fish was nice and light, paired well with sauce and cabbage slaw El pastor- very flavorful, would opt.out of pineapples next time Spicy shrimp- also had a cheese skirt and was very flavorful, it was hubby's favorite Wanted to try the churros but the machine was down Next time will have to try fries and maybe a burrito, cliantro cream salsa is a must.

Yelp
Wow the food here was worth the hype. I didn't get many photos because the food was too irresistible and we took it to go. Can't say much about the ambiance because my husband picked up the food but there was a wait. I got the carne asada taco and the grilled fish taco- both phenomenal and a generous portion of protein- bravo! We also got churros for dessert and those were incredible- not to be missed.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I've had tacos in San Diego and this place serves up some solid ones at decent pricing (under $5 a taco) in today's economy. I love that they also have churros on the menu which makes up a great dessert after!

Yelp
Solid burrito! Protein chunks were big and weren't cheaply scooped. The store itself is small so it may be hard to find seating (and parking) on a busy afternoon. Sauce bar is in the corner and that can have a pretty long line too. It wasn't too salty or heavy and filled me up just right. I would definitely come again to try their tacos or to get different type of burrito.

Yelp
If using the long line outside as an indicator of good food - your be correct. Amazingly fresh tacos. My husband and I had the Nopal (cactus), pollo asada, Sonora (special beef one) and Baja tacos - topped off with all the options from the salsa bar. Plus an order of fresh made churros. Everything was delicious! Make sure to tell them about your Yelp check in discount before you start ordering. And take note that there are no bathrooms. Parking lot was small and full; we found free parking on the street after only circling once.

Yelp
Food quality has went down in recent years! Steak was chewy instead of flavorful and chargrilled. Guac was too salty, battered fish tacos were soggy, and the pollo asada pieces in the taco were too big! I ended up throwing half of my order away. Customer service was friendly though
