The Taco Stand Taqueria

I was contemplating the other three Mexican food locations within a couple miles and I said let me try something different You always find a diamond in the rough when you look in certain places where you wouldn't think it would be better than a restaurant. I would consider this almost like a street taco place but on a more professional level. I ordered three chicken tacos with corn shells and three with flower shells They came with onions and cilantro and guac and salsa It was amazing completely enjoyed dinner tonight!!!

Had the California burrito with steak. The flavors and ingredients were fresh and good quality. Not greasy. It was very busy for lunch and they moved very fast. Didn’t have to wait long. Was going to take a pic but ate the food too fast. Going to try everything on the menu…wish me luck. Oh forgot but wish they had spicier salsas

Best place for a quick lunch in the area! Online ordering is easy and convenient, pickups are always quick and on time. The staff is efficient and kind, and nothing I’ve ever ordered has disappointed. My favorite has gotta be the taco stand burrito, but the quesadillas are a super cheesy indulgence and are perfectly fried. Truly a gem of a place to have nearby!!

This little place is great! I got a bowl. About $10. It was enough to feed me for 2 meals. Of course I ate it all right there. You can park and eat or sit outside. I love this little place.

Been coming here since they’ve opened this. I’ve never had an issue. Except for today. I ordered my food over the phone. The person on the phone recited my order back to me but rang it up wrong apparently. After picking my food up I noticed they got one of my items wrong. So I called very polite and asked if they could remake it. They refused. They said since the receipt reflects how they made it they will not remake it. IMO that’s terrible customer service. I probably Won’t be coming back. And that’s a bummer I love the food here. I wouldn’t suggest anyone to go there. That ruined it for me and they will do the same for you.

The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. But the real star is the food – it’s fantastic! The California burrito, in particular, is a must-try. It’s jam-packed with fresh ingredients and a hearty portion of tender steak, making every bite a delight. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great taqueria experience!

Place has seriously gone down hill. Got the quick 10 tacos. Meat was cold and low quality. Flour tortillas were cold, chewy and tasted like stale store bought. The TWO toppings were on the side for who knows what reason. Even called and asked, the girl said that putting the toppings on the side is how they do it now... so lazy. Portion size was tiny for the cost too. It's a shame because this place used to be so good. But I guess they have gotten complacent. I think it's really difficult to make bad Mexican food, but somehow they found a way to do it. I would always recommend taco stand. Not anymore.

Terrible overpriced bland food, no Taco Tuesday specials. Dozens of places has Tacos $2 and lower Downriver. Sin Limite, Los Arcos Market, La Sultana all only $1.50 each. I used to love this place. Was my go to. But lately they suck really bad, overcharged on side orders. The service terrible run by young kid's putting out many wrong orders. So many better places Downriver cheaper and better.

This taco restaurant just outside of Detroit is a culinary treasure--although thankfully they have a few others around Detroit. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, guiding me to the perfect choice of an al pastor taco. Honestly, it was the most flavorful taco I've had since moving from the southwest a couple of years ago. The vibrant blend of spices and tender meat was simply outstanding. This experience became the highlight of my Memorial Day trip to Detroit. If you're in the area and craving authentic, delicious tacos, this is the place to be. Easy five stars!

Love their quesadillas! Great prices, fast services, and food is ALWAYS TOP NOTCH. My boyfriend love their tacos. They offer different choices of meats. It's nice to be able to mix up your items!

I used to go here all the time for $1 Taco Tuesdays until late 2020 when the quality and preparation really took a nosedive here. It took me a couple of years to return, but I do see that The Taco Stand has improved somewhat since those days. Note: They do not have carnitas, which is usually my favorite meat choice! California Burrito w/ Chorizo ($9.50) - The chorizo is pretty standard quality with a spicy, savory, and slightly fruity taste. The meat was crisped up on the flat top perfectly. The fries they use are a larger variety (perhaps homemade?) that aren't fried very well. No crisp at all and in fact they were quite soggy. There's a good reason you don't normally find larger fries in a California burrito. There was some pico and sour cream that gave good freshness, and a good amount of melted cheese that rounded out the dish. There is no guac included, but the burrito had enough moistness that extra salsa was not needed. This was wrapped non-traditionally in foil and the 12" tortilla was not crisped on the flat top. Weight: 17oz. Certainly not the best rendition of a California burrito, but tasty nonetheless. (3/5) I think the main issue with The Taco Stand is that there are places with better Mexican food just down the street. If you're looking for hole-in-the-wall Mexican food where everyone is speaking Spanish, I would look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a place where it's convenient to order, fast, and has decent food, The Taco Stand is not a terrible choice.

So for the Allen Park area I can honestly tell you that this taqueria is the best. This one beats Los Arcos, El Jalapeño, and Angelica's. Don't even insult yourself with Taco Bell either. This place you will smell the aromas as you get off your car. For the downriver area this place keeps it real and simple. Of course best time to come here is Taco Tuesday at around 4:15 pm. I recommend the the carne asada tacos and the California burrito with fries. You will be satisfied with just 2 tacos Or ask the service attendants what they recommend. They will be happy to assist you. That is all. Chief :)= Make the difference by giving back.

The food is delicious! I looked on Yelp for tacos and this place came up as the best taco restaurants. I recently moved nearby. I use to live in NY and since moving to Detroit I have to rely on Yelp to tell me all the hot spots. I purchased the taco stand bowl and steak tacos. My husband ordered the steak and pork quesadilla. We also ordered fries for the kids but the fries weren't good at all. They were burnt but the kids enjoyed our food. My almost 3 year old is extremely picky and he wouldn't stop eating my steak taco stand bowl. He absolutely loved it. Overall, they were quick, reasonably priced, and the service was great! This is my new takeout spot. My husband is ordering again right now. Thanks Yelp! You never disappoint!

Warning: You only get a super small sliver of a dried out lime for every two tacos. They want to charge you 0.75 cents for more. The tacos are good though!

A true neighborhood staple! Personal favorite is the Taco Stand Burrito, but the tacos and Carne Asada fries are also delicious. I've been many times and it's always quick and yummy.

Had 5 tacos the other day. Very flavorful and most of all just hot and delicious It was exactly what i was wanting in a road side taco stand. Only recommendation would for the establishment to get some park benches so customers don't have to eat in their cars. Inside is very small. Great place over all

This is one of the only legit taco stands in the area! After living in the Southwestern US for nearly 15 years, this is the real deal. I so wish they were open for breakfast! The service is always as fast as can possibly be. You can eat at a counter, but carry out is the better option as the seating space is limited. It's a taco stand living up to it's name! This has been my MI go to for years. No one else can compare. In the area. If you find a place you like better, let me know. I need to try it. It's nice to have real tacos & burritos!

Good food my favorite is the carne asada fries and the steak tacos . If your coming around lunch I suggest you call ahead the secrets out and I recommend this place .....large asada fries give you quite a bit of food so be prepared

I love this place. They have the best and most fresh tacos you can get around. I love their chicken tacos with cilantro and onions. I also enjoy their quesadillas and cola in a bottle. Reasonable prices and super yummy.

Best, most affordable and fastest authentic Mexican carry out downriver. Highly recommend steak quesadilla, pork tacos, pico and green salsa.

Dosent look like much when your driving by but this place is a must stop. The tacos and the sauce are really good. Only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars it doesnt have hard shell tacos

Wish I could give more stars-the food has never disappointed us but to order your food for carryout and drive 20 minutes home only to find you're missing an entire persons food is beyond frustrating. I could maybe have looked past that and given more stars just for the food & value for the money but this missing food issue has happened to us not this one time...not this and one other time but three times now and it makes me not want to go back. It doesn't help the way your food is packaged -multiple things it one container and the bags tied up -you couldn't check your food if you wanted to.I guess I'll have to be that customer because if I go back I will Have them show me that all of my order is there. Sorry,not sorry.

Helpful with ordering. Simple menu. Absolutely unbelievable taste and value. The service was fast and made to order. We ordered the chicken, steak and spiced pork tacos on corn and flower tortillas. The hubby brought me here on Taco Tuesday after hearing about it at work and then confirming it by Yelp. Being from Southwest Detroit I was a little uneasy when we ventured out of the city for real Taqueria tacos. Atmosphere: it literally is a taco stand. A pretty large taco stand with quite a few windows. I was a little unsure because it was an open area and there was a random door that seems to lead right where I can walk out to where I already was. The billboard says that people will come and take your order at your car as well the billboard says that people will come and take your order at your car im guessing that's when its not that busy. Service: it was taco Tuesdays and there was at least 20 people surrounding the windows people may have come and gone but they're always seemed to be about 20 people. You placed your order after looking at the menu that was written outside and on the wall gave them your name and waited for them to call you. Food: I'm struggling to remember anything that was really remarkable or distinguishable about the tacos. They weren't the best but they weren't the worst. I did buy some rice and beans and I have the same feelings they weren't the best but they weren't the worst. We ordered the steak and the pastor tacos. Price: come on it was Taco Tuesday so the tacos were a dollar you can't beat that. However they also offer flour tacos for a 1.50. If I'm in the area and want tacos I'll probably stop back in.

Great place for a Tuesday Taco! I often stop by after picking my son up from school to get an after school snack. The quesadillas are DA BEST!

I'm a fine dining chef and I like to think I have high standards and a good eye for great food. Stopped here on a whim en route to somewhere, and for $10 I got the best burrito I've had in my life. Demolished the California al pastor burrito in under 10 minutes in the parking lot. You know it's good food when the restaurant gives you paper towels instead of napkins. Fast, cheap, amazing.

As a Southern California native, I make it my personal mission to find the best tacos whenever I move to a new state and I am so happy to have found this amazing little taqueria! Small but mighty this Taco Stand is fishing out street tacos, California burritos, carne Asada fries, quesadilla and MORE! I splurge every two weeks with a visit and I have yet to be disappointed with anything I've ordered off the menu! I refuse to go to any other location for tacos, I am loyal to what they're doing here at The Taco Stand Taqueria

This place is amazing! Their tacos are SO good and priced perfectly!! I love carnitas tacos and they didn't have any which I was sad about but the tacos I did get were AMAZING! I got chicken chorizo mix, steak and chorizo mix, and asada tacos. Not having carnitas is the only reason I give 4 stars. Definitely check this place out. It's a GEM!!!

What makes the world go round?!?!! Is it Peace and Love? Is the laughter of a small child?? Is it the advent of the forward pass in American Football? is the answer as simple as the Stylistics thought, people? No my friends, it the wonderfully delectable little herb known as cilantro. Through this green love machine we can bring flavor and joy to the entire world, nay the universe. Would Thanos have snapped his fingers if we had thrown cilantro at him? Very doubtful. This delectable little walk-up spot in Allen Park that looks like it used to be an old fashioned A&W definitely believes in the same, as the tacos are very generously doused in the green goodies. Ordered the steak and chicken tacos, the cheese quesadilla, California burrito and carne asada fries and let me tell you, every single thing was both delicious and perfect. The meats were tender and juicy and they provide you with a bevy of sauces to fill in the flavors as you please. Personally my favorite was the California burrito with steak, I like the addition of french fries to it. Gave it an interesting texture mixed with the steak. Even the fries came out great, I expected them to be soggy and sloppy and they were neither. While normally I prefer shoestring because I'm a picky baby, these came out great and were cooked great all the way through. Keep in mind, there is no real place to sit in and eat, I came in the end of fall beginning of winter and it looks like there might be some patio type seating, but the carryout is totally worth it.

Pretty solid street tacos. The salsa is good and the chicken meat is delicious. They are pretty quick on service.

We found this little spot on yelp. Really awesome taco stand. Lots of fun options. We aren't from the area so it was literally just a pit stop. We grabbed some tacos, ate and left. If I lived around here this would totally be my authentic taco spot. I tried the asada, chorizo and chicken. All awesome. We had a side of guacamole too - it didn't disappoint. I am only taking off a star because there was no bathroom, and being on the road trip - we had to go.

Great tasting tacos, order ahead for no wait. Not that a wait is bad, that means the food is going to be amazing! We got a few of the corn tacos with chicken, cilantro, onion, and lime. I was impressed with each carryouts presentation. Nothing was smashed together, all the ingredients were fresh. If you don't like chicken the other options are steak, pork, Mexican sausage & steak combo. The burritos are filling. I feel one is more than enough, especially if you're going to try out the carne asada fries. For two meals and fries it was about $30 This place would be great for outdoor seating in the summer, or having a waiting area for carry out pickup.

Let's do that question and answer type review again. I kind of find it pretty fun for some reason. Q: So, what did you think of the place?? A: it's ok,, I guess this classifies as a hole in the wall. You park your car, you bark you order and they bring you your food. You pay, then you drive away. Very convenient,, and you can call ahead if you like. Q: How was the food?? A: We came because we heard this spot slings carne asada fries. Which means, my inner SoCal gravitates to that kind of stuff. A chorizo and an Al pastor tscos to complete the order. The carne asada fries were pretty good. The tacos were yummy too. Served authentic mexican style,, so please don't embarrass yourselves by asking them to add cheese and sour cream on it. This ain't Taco Del!! Q: Over all,, what did you think of this spot??? A: Well, the service was nice. People on the other side of the counter was very friendly and super nice. I didn't really care much for the tacos. Beef, Pork, Chicken and Chorizo indicates that they're attracting more of the "American" clientele. But that doesn't matter to me,, because I would definitely come back for the Carne Asada fries. You know what goes good with that? An iced cold beer my friend. First off, I would rate this a 4.5 if it were possible. But wow! For just opening, there were SO MANY cars in the parking lot on a Saturday afternoon. They sell authentic tacos (the kind with cilantro and onion on two soft corn tortillas with lime). They made the order quickly and they were tasty! The staff were very friendly. They also sell quesadillas, burritos, and fries. Their green salsa was pretty unique to me since it looked creamy (perhaps avocado?) and was mild, which I enjoyed. If you like these types of tacos, you might be surprised to know there are tons of places around this area that sell tacos just like this. Check out El Jalapeno and La Favorita in Melvindale and Los Arcos in Lincoln Park (which it just so happens they are opening a second location two blocks down from the Taco Stand.) I have to admit though that I like these three taco places better than the Taco Stand, but my boyfriend disagrees and says the Taco Stand is just as good. To me, the chicken was pretty bland at the Taco Stand and they didn't put much cilantro and onion. I will say though that the Taco Stand has a better location than the other 3 places I mentioned and besides El Jalapeno, the Taco Stand is cleaner and designed aesthetically much better than La Favorita and Los Arcos in Lincoln Park (you'd know what I mean if you've been to La Favorita or Los Arcos. They are hole-in-the-wall places). Cons: 1) There is no where to eat on the inside and hardly even any room to order if there are more than 2 groups of people. (But I'm not going to hold this against them that much. I mean they are probably just constrained to the building they have. The parking lot is decently large and it says "Drive in" on the sign" which reminded me of Sonic, so maybe they run orders out to your car. I'm not sure though). 2) This is very minor, but they don't have rice or beans. The menu is very bare bones.

You guys do yourself a favor and get that dang quesadilla. The way they crisp it on the sides is just so wonderful. Best thing ever and the prices are where it's at. I seriously plus just get 10 cheese quesadillas and live off of it for a few hours.

Stopped for lunch the other day and Omgggg sooo yummy!! I ordered a steak quesadilla and 2 corn tortillas with cilantro and onions; one chicken and one steak. Everything was delicious! Seasoned well and full of flavor. The steak quesadilla was my favorite!! The cheese was melted perfectly with steak and onions. Whatever they seasoned it with was so tasty. I ordered a side of guac and sour cream for topping. The mild sauce was very good, I dipped my tacos as I ate. The pico is a touch spicy but not overwhelming at all, the flavor is so good. I cannot wait to eat there again! Very quick service too I might add and everything was hot!

Would definitely go back (already did twice in the last month). The workers are very helpful and nice, and the prices aren't too expensive. I would recommend the steak tacos and chicken quesadilla. Don't forget the avocado sauce and the pico! I'll be back for more!

I do not leave many reviews - maybe one or two a year and this place earned a spot. My husband and I ordered because we are sick of home meals daily. Little did we know we would receive and explosion of delight I ordered the carne and torte (steak) and my children gobbled up the chicken tacos. Everything was so fresh and there were layers of flavor and dimension in every bite. Okay-I might say this is my new secret go to place I can't stop thinking about it. Bravo!! Their Torte's are amazing! As a Mexican I did not have high expectations but this place a great takeout place that is quick and has quality food. The only item on the menu I would not recommend is the beans at the Allen Park Taco Stand, they are made differently than the Taylor location.

The Taco Stand has awesome food! The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because they don't offer ground beef as an option for their tacos. Its a rare thing to not find that as an option for tacos in the U. S. Also I wish they would sell a salsa for people that can't have any spice at all. Their green mild is still spicy for my 2 sons. You also should put the cheese automatically on the tacos instead of it being an al a carte item. Again cheese NOT on a taco?! craziness If those things were changed we would order Taco Stand meals 2-4 times a week!!
