We had lunch in the bar at The Talbot, Malton to celebrate a birthday. We had been in a few times for drinks, which were always examplary so we had higher expectations that the food would be excellent as well. We we not disappointed.
The dining room is charming, painted a strong blue and feels old, but well maintained and comfortable, like a well aged wine.
We had roast sea bass and a plate of calf's liver from the lunch menu. Perfectly cooked, wonderful flavour and just the right size to leave one satisfied but not stuffed.
Ben, who looked after us, was very friendly and paid just the right level of attention. He really elevated the experience with his service.
A lovely experience.
