Best Tampa-Area Spots For Chardonnay This Memorial Day | Eater

"One might think an old-school social club with a fine dining menu is a bit stuffy. But not the case at the Tampa Club, whose recent renovation has maintained its sophisticated allure, while modernizing the décor to 2023. The wine list is extensive and comes with a front row seat to the glimmering Tampa skyline. So even if you don’t feel like sitting for dinner, it’s a magical place to enjoy your chardonnay with a view." - Matthew Meltzer

Wow — just wow! We recently dined at The Tampa Club in downtown Tampa Bay, and from start to finish, it was an unforgettable evening. We had a party of six and were lucky enough to arrive just in time to catch the sunset — the views from this place are absolutely stunning. It set the perfect mood for what turned out to be one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I ordered the Wagyu strip steak, and let me tell you — it was phenomenal. Perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and packed with flavor. The jalapeño mac and cheese that came with it? Over the top in the best way. Rich, creamy, with just the right kick. And the Brussels sprouts? Roasted to perfection — slightly crispy and full of flavor. We started with a charcuterie board that was beautifully presented and delicious — a perfect way to ease into the evening. My wife had the crab cakes, and they were outstanding — golden on the outside, packed with fresh crab on the inside, and bursting with flavor. But the true surprise of the night was the scallops and grits. Visually stunning, and according to my friend, the best scallops he’s ever eaten. That’s high praise from a guy who orders them everywhere. Beyond the food, the service took the experience to another level. Juicy, the Director of Experience, lived up to his title — warm, engaging, and clearly passionate about what he does. Adam, our waiter, was just as amazing — attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely kind. If you’re looking for an upscale, memorable dining experience in Tampa Bay, The Tampa Club is it. Between the incredible food, flawless service, and breathtaking views, this place nails it on every level. We’ll absolutely be back.

Google
The exclusive social club 42 floors up overlooking Tampa. Spectacular views! Wonderful staff making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. It’s a casual affair but there is a dress code so don’t expect to wear tank top and sliders here. We ordered the steak but since they ran out had the french dip. Love their yam fries! The food is great and they have a decent wine list. Overall, a five-star experience.

Google
Not every social club also has good food, but this one does! Everything was tasty. The views are fantastic from the 42nd floor. Service was great. I would note that the desserts felt like they took a while, but just know that so you can plan to order them just before you finish your dinner.

Google
A stunning venue for my May 2025 wedding. Everything was flawless - the ceremony & reception room setup, cocktail hour in their beautiful restaurant, the food, the staff, and the VIEW. We received so many compliments on the venue itself and the staff who worked with us on our big day. They made everything so easy for us - and very graciously accommodated our having to reschedule our original wedding date last October due to Hurricane Milton. We had an incredible experience here, and our guests won't forget how gorgeous this location was!

Outstanding food snd drink, not to mention that view.

Google
This exclusive Club is excellent in every measurable way. Staff is friendly and engaging. The clientele is as refined as you would expect in this kind of establishment. The drinks were all superb and the one selection made for the affectionato. All the dinner selections leave you with the desire to order them all especially after you see them. We were in a party of seven and everybody at the table was more than pleased with the service food and drink. I would especially like to call out two things. Justin was paying close attention to our parties needs and giving us the guided tour of the club and the surrounding area. Thank you for that. Secondly The View; it was simply breathtaking. Hundreds of feet into the air from its balcony and clear windows you can see all of Tampa.

Google
Very beautiful views with delicious food that has the feel it was prepared with thoughtfulness. Every dish was perfectly cooked and had rich favorite and the cocktails were well balanced. The restaurant it self has a relaxing, up scale and comfortable feel, highly recommend.

Absolutely incredible vegan dish! The chili relleno was out of this world. Can’t thank the chef enough for creating a unique, thoughtful, and delightful dish. Bravo!

Yelp
We had a work function here to celebrate a special event. We were hosted in a private room. The views really are spectacular. Can't say the same about the food (buffet including salmon, chicken, wild rice pilaf, salad), which was decidedly average. Exceptions were the mac and cheese which my son loved, and the desserts (cheesecake, chocolate mouse in a dome made of dark chocolate). Would have been 3 stars if I had paid and if the views hadn't been so nice, but all things considered we had a nice evening.

Yelp
I don't get the good reviews, for a place that's supposed to cater to a private membership they just don't get it. Huge disappointment.

Yelp
I visited the Tampa Club during the Champa Bay Launch party on Tuesday February 22, 2022 6-11pm which advertised an open bar. No end time was listed for the open bar on the official event website at ChampaBayLaunch.com which is still up. Tampa Club's old male bartender was rude and Eye rolled not once but twice upon asking about open bar and upon asking for a drink menu. I mentioned this to another friend who said that this bartender eye rolled her too and a friend's of hers too so evidently this guy makes a habit of eye rolling patrons of your business. Tampa Club Management really should have a talk with this eye rolling bartender about manners and not to eye roll people for simple questions and requests. Tampa Club Management should provide patrons with a drink menu so people know what kind of specialty mixed drinks are available and what kind of beers are available and what the pricing of these items are. Simple questions like pricing and availability of items should not got eye rolls from bartenders. The Tampa Club Resident membership costs $1700 for initiation and $155 per month with an additional flat hospitality tipping rate of $40 per month or a flat 20% gratuity added to every check. The Tampa Club's guaranteed gratuity policy means staff can be rude to patrons without any sort of financial consequence. Paying a monthly membership fee for the ability to pay again at a restaurant hardly seems like a good Idea to me. Tampa club is in its 40th year of operations and has recently completed their renovations which included opening the terrace on the 42nd floor for dining, expanding the co-work remote space, remodeling of the member grille and ballroom, and the expanding the bar to a whopping 24 seats. If you have to join a dining club, I'd have to recommend the Centre Club which has added a business center with Internet connections. It has wine-tasting parties, a concierge who gets event tickets for members and monthly pizza parties for members' children.

Yelp
Best views of Tampa Bay and the city from the terrace! Impressive members-only social club with wine lockers available, reservable conference rooms and an extensive menu. The truffled mac & cheese is divine!

Yelp
I recently attended a farewell for a counsel general and had a wonderful experience, especially with the team that was assigned to us. The bartender was super friendly and the rest of the team as well. Outstanding views, excellent wait team and delicious food.

Yelp
I was invited to the Tampa Club for dinner and drinks after work. After reading the reviews on google, seeing the dress code and finding out it was members only I was expecting a very upscale bar bustling with executives but what I found was a deserted room with old decor, over priced mediocre food at best, and a table of over dressed 80 year olds having dinner which reminded me of the country club. This would definitely not be my choice for happy hour or dinner. This may be more of a special event type of place. My review is from my POV and expectations as an individual. The 2 stars is entirely for the view which is PHENOMENAL!! It's hard to take pictures with the glare from the glass but you can see the sunset on the horizon across the entire city from this location. Just amazing. But is it worth it to fight Tampa rush hour traffic and pay to park in a parking garage after finding a member to let you in just to take a picture? Nah I think not

Jaclyn-Marie S.

Yelp
Wonderful service and staff. Of course to top it off, the view and food is amazing as well.

Yelp
underwhelming. came here with a few friends, one of whom is a member, and expected much more elegance from a private club.
google avatar

Katrina P.

Yelp
Nice group of members who welcomed me as a guest with open arms. Most of the members I met were in their golden years and so vivacious and full of personality. The food was delicious and the venue offers some of the best views of Tampa Bay, since the club is located on the 42 floor of the Bank of America building. My friends invited me on the night they were having a New Orleans Masquerade party which required semi formal attire. Everyone was dressed sharply. My table was full of 30-40 year old age group and they were all so friendly and provided lots of laughs. They have several monthly events. With different themes. For professionals looking to network or people just looking to make new friends I'd recommend joining the Tampa Club.
google avatar

Yelp
The Tampa Club is well-kept secret hidden on the 41st floor of the Bank of America building in Downtown Tampa. Being a former member, I am quite biased and have a strong affinity for the Tampa Club. I have hosted several parties and actually had my wedding reception at this beautiful venue. Needless to say, the marriage didn't quite work out so well, but the reception was certainly one kick-ass Party! The staff prides themselves on their service. There are many tenured staff members here that I have maintained friendships with. I miss being a member here because I loved the staff so much. There is an initiation fee to become a member. In addition, there are monthly membership dues. There is also a food and beverage minimum you must spend per month. The food is typical of your basic country club. I enjoyed my meals here. The chefs are very pleasant to deal with and often can be found getting to know the members. The social calendar is always packed here, whether it be a themed dinner or a group getaway. They are well organized and if there is a fee, it gets charged to your monthly bill. There are several rooms available to host any event. My favorite room is the Grille because of the beautiful views and the casual atmosphere. Check out the Tampa Club if you are looking for somewhere unique to host an event. Your guests will be impressed.

Yelp
My wife and I join about 6 months ago. From the atmosphere to the food and service- fantastic. Best views in Tampa bay with a great terrace to have cocktails or dinner on. We try to make it there once a weekend, even if it's just for a cocktail tail.

Yelp
We came here on a Friday night with a reservation for a group for 9. They weren't extremely busy but were down a bartender so drinks were extremely slow to be made. Our server was very friendly and did her best as the food was a bit slow to come out too. The overall vibe of the place is nice, nothing too overly fancy as I did see some very dressed up and some in jeans. The food was a little disappointing and the dessert took 30 minutes to come out so our experience didn't end well but the manager was very apologetic and took care of us. Id probably give it another go when they change their menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Just in town for the day and this was a great place to try! My friend is a member (not sure if you need a membership to visit). They gave us a great window table with an amazing view and had an awesome menu. We were greeted by all smiling faces and our server was super friendly. He offered great recommendations and everything was served promptly. I started with French onion soup and it was prepared perfectly. Then I tried the halibut for my entree and it had great flavor. Finally I got the lemon torte for dessert. It was good but not what I was expecting. I would've preferred something else. However, I paired it with limoncello and it really enhanced the lemon flavors. Overall I'd recommend the Tampa Club!

Yelp
We love the Tampa Club with its beautiful elegant atmosphere and amazing views of Tampa Bay. Service, food, and drinks have always been exceptional for the two parties we have had there.

Yelp
My home away from home. Love everything about TTC, from servers knowing your name, your friends' names and your kids' names to the constantly evolving menu to the very low drink prices. Managers take huge pride in their work, and it shows. Some of the stars include Justin at the bar, dining manager Tony, Becky, Bernardo, Fedner, Junior and, of course, Todd. Best views in Tampa, bar none.

Yelp
We have the sweetest friends who invite us up to this secret world of the Tampa elite rather often. I think we've been up there at least 6 or so times. We've done the wine tasting, had breakfast, done dinner, done drinks and the Christmas buffet, and everything has been delicious! They have a great relationship with a few of the staff, thus making us feel even more catered to! The atmosphere reminds me of a gentlemen's club....no not THAT kind...what I imagine one was like a hundred years ago, leather upholstered seats, heavy drapes, dim lighting, dark wooden furnishings, etc. Did I mention the views?!? Gorgeous views of Tampa Bay!!! We'll be checking in for the New Year's Eve party soon! I can't wait!!

Yelp
Location, location, location. This restaurant is located on the 43rd floor of the Bank of America building with a panoramic view of Tampa. If you haven't seen this before -- very impressive. The Tampa Club also remodeled recently, so the new lobby is beautiful and very modern. The food is good although I didn't love the lunch menu choices today. I didn't have the lunch buffet either, but the choices seemed quite limited. This club is for members and their guests only -- so admission is limited. However, if you can get in, the experience is worth it.

Yelp
i had a business luncheon held here and Sandra, the events coordinator, did an absolutely great job!! From the beginning when I first sat down with her, she was so helpful and professional! Thought of stuff that I would need that I didn't even remember to ask her about. The event itself went off without a hitch! The staff was competent and quietly ensured everyone was taken cared of. the food was amazing - i'm still getting phone calls and emails from my guests raving about the food. the best part is that the atmosphere is so elegant. I really wanted to impress upon my clients a feeling of exclusivity and Tampa Club did it! We were able to put the cost of the parking in with my bill so my guests didn't have to worry about paying; it was all just seamless to them... Highly recommended for any meeting or event! Thank you Sandra for everything!!

Yelp
I attended the club this time for a wedding reception. This was no ordinary everyday reception. It was an all out, no holding back on anything, including an open bar. The club room was imense, the crowd overflowing and it was all handled with poise and elegance. The decorations were perfect and included live coy fish on each sitting table. There was an enormous seafood selection, 3 carving stations, huge dessert station, servers with silver trays full of crab puffs and assorted appetizers. All of the food was spot on delicious, no two ways about it. Everything was fresh, the appropriate temperature and expertly prepared. Like I have said weddings aren't my personal favorite events, but this was over the top, pure indulgence. What a girl to do? Go to a wedding and have a great time.

Yelp
I've gone here for an office event and the venue is really great. When getting there, the parking in the garage wasn't too bad. During the holidays they did a great job decorating in time with the season. The event was hosted on one of the top floors where the view of Tampa can really be seen- it was really pretty. The event space itself was also very nice and even can fit a dance floor.
google avatar

Yelp
42 stories above ground overlooking the downtown area of Tampa is exquisite place to hold special events and nightclubbing it is just a fabulous setting and a fabulous place in the food is delicious
google avatar

Yelp
I love the view and the food. It is perfect for business lunches or a date. The service is attentive. Most employees know my name. The food is pretty on point. It is definitely one of the better places to eat in Tampa. The decor is pretty good. They are currently renovating. For the renovated portion, it is quite nice. The unrenovated parts definately look it.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here many many times over the past number of years as a member of the Tampa Club, and it's always been a great place to go for really great food and drinks, but it's the view of Tampa and the sunset that you can NOT get anywhere else. It's an older and higher income group so it's normally fairly calm and quiet. The food has always been delicious and the drinks prices are really good. If not a member, you can come as a guest, so it's limited but not too restricted. There is a dress code and it is only slightly relaxed (collared shirt and jeans (no tears or frays) in the lounge. You can eat in the lounge as well. If you eat in the main dinning area, a jacket is required. The view is unique and not comparable to any other place in Tampa. A champaign sunset toast and impressive view from the top of Tampa are the norm here. Membership is a whole other comment. :) It's worth it if you can afford it. There is value with it, but you have to decide for yourself. Come try this great location!!!

Yelp
I had lunch in the main dining room a few months ago while attending an employment law update hosted by a firm located on another floor of the same building. I had no idea -until reading other reviews- that this place was only for the sophisticated and prominent upper echelon of Tampa; lunch was included in the (very reasonable) cost of the event, and I was just happy to be fed half way through the day. I was lucky enough to be in the company of a handful of some very down to earth (and also mostly) non-members, and had an enjoyable (although not spectacular or memorable) chicken dish. The service was great, but what I found most impressive and enjoyable was the panoramic views, which was quite visible -and breathtaking- from our interior table. Three stars for the food, four for the atmosphere and service, and five for the views. Being that I'm not a member and probably won't ever be one, I doubt I'll be able to try this place out again to provide an update.

Yelp
I enjoyed a very elegant business lunch with one of my clients at The Tampa Club today. The club sits atop the 42nd floor of the Bank of America building in the middle of downtown Tampa, and the view is absolutely spectacular! This incredibly sophisticated members-only business club is definitely the home for the prominent movers & shakers in the local business community. My 5-star experience started as I stepped off the elevator and walked through the carved-wood archway to the reception desk. My business associate had not yet arrived, but the receptionist had my name on her list and so I was invited to wait in the lounge until he showed up. Back in the day this room would have probably be called the gentlemen's smoking parlor, and I would have felt right at home with a brandy snifter in one hand as I looked at the stylish furnishings and took in the amazing view of downtown. Once my friend arrived we ascended the staircase to the top floor of the club, and were seated in the main dining room. Our table looked down upon the Channelside District, the Tampa Bay Marriott and out over Harbour Island and right out into the Bay. It was truly a jaw-dropping amazing view. The dining room was all white tablecloths and impeccable waiter service. My business associate was greeted by name as if he was an old friend of the maître d', the waiter, and the chef at the banquet table, and once I was introduced to our server I was also called by name throughout our meal. Very classy and memorable! Lunch today was the Club's famous Prime Rib Buffet and we both opted to forego the luncheon salads and splurge on something tasty. The buffet started with a salad table which had a variety of lettuces and garden fresh veggies along with homemade dressings. Next in line were the prepared cold salads including fresh fruits and cheeses, followed by a selection of hummuses and bruschettas, hot vegetables and entrées, and finally the chef-attended prime rib carving station with your choice of au jus, as well as freshly-grated and creamy horseradish. There was no way in the world that I had room for dessert, but they had some incredible pastry selections to tempt the weak of heart. The meal and the service were perfection, and it was just a tremendous day to look out the windows and enjoy the fact that we live in Florida. (Honest, I'm having a can of Tomato soup for dinner!)

Yelp
I have dined at the Tampa Club numerous times and am proud to say the service is always top-notch and the food excellent. Whether you come for a business lunch, a family brunch or a private event, trust that you will have a wonderful experience. Our most recent experience was Mother's Day brunch for a party of 25 and all 25 people were happy with their experience. We had 4 generations of family, which made it extra special. You park in the Bank of America parking garage and take the 3rd floor walkway to the Bank of America building. Then, take the middle set of elevators up to the 41st floor. Then, walk up the grand staircase or take a short elevator ride one more flight up to the 42nd floor. The views of Tampa Bay are spectacular. The buffet had a salad station with a variety of salads, cheeses, different lox/salmons, hot omelet station, waffles, eggs benedict, mashed potatoes, veggies, bacon, sausage, salmon, lamb chops (my favorite), blintzes, shrimp, oysters, carving station, chocolate fountain, various desserts, bananas foster, crème Brule and more. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I was excited to go here for an event, as I had missed going for restaurant week. The view is awesome. The food was overall okay. I wish that there had been better wine options. Keep in mind that the turn into the parking garage can be very sudden, so keep an eye out for it.

Yelp
Very nice place, people are great, Executive Chef is amazing! If you sit at the bar, ask for Justin!

Yelp
One of the best places for a business or for a family lunch it dinner. The grill is more casual, the dinning room is more formal. The remodel looks great!

Yelp
Visited the Tampa Club on Friday 20-September for a wedding rehearsal cocktail hour (41st floor) followed by dinner (up on 42nd/43rd floor). Live piano music during both phases was of the same caliber as the venue. It's an amazing place, all class...and the staff was absolutely spot on with every detail. The views are stunning, as it is one of the tallest buildings in the city - breathtaking really. Every facet of the event was just top notch. I think the only thing I found even slightly lacking was some of the food...and that was only a minor quibble. Another issue was trying to find the way IN to the facility in the pouring rain. I joked that it was like trying to solve the Riddle of the Sphinx to find proper parking and make it to the room at the top via the complex elevator system. The reward at the end made it seem very worthwhile though! Truly one of the most memorable such events I have ever been to. If you are thinking of throwing a wedding reception or rehearsal dinner here, look no further - even jaded guests will be blown away by this place.

Yelp
The Tampa Club is one of finest places in downtown Tampa but please note:the Tampa Club is a 'Member's Only' Club, and is not open to the general public.
google avatar

Elena P.

Yelp
The Tampa Club is a great place for atmosphere, cuisine and ability to meet members from the community with the same interests. Plus the view is not bad.
google avatar

Connie C.

Yelp
Okay the Tampa Club is at the top of the Bank of America building downtown. At night the view is beautiful. I was there for a work gathering and we were in the Rotunda. The food was pretty good, I had the Steak Diane, and the steak was very tender and the sauce was good. Their drinks are okay, a little watered down. But I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the location. Of course you do have to be a Tampa Club member.

Yelp
I was invited to a Christmas Brunch last year and it was Amazing!!! I could not stop eating, everything was so delicious. The omelet line moved fairly quickly (2 guys making omelets to your liking) not to mention the fresh fruit, cheese/meats platters, eggs, bacon, waffles, pancakes, muffins, ETC...Anything you can think of, they had it. The view is also amazing. I also had dinner there and was very impressed!!

Yelp
I had the pleasure of visiting the Tampa Club for a holiday party. The exterior of the building is dimly lit and well manicured, the interior is modern and grand. At the club level the decor was seasonal with a beautiful Christmas tree and leather couches. The club had low lighting that set the mood for a social but romantic evening. The view from the 41st floor is a beautiful cityscape of downtown Tampa. At the party I had a wide array of options and chose the sushi - tasty, lamb - succulent, moist and well seasoned and assorted veggies squash, zucchini, mushrooms and onions - fresh, crispy and perfectly sautéed. For desert I had flaming coffee which was made from coffee, Jameson Irish Whiskey, cream and flamed orange flavor. The bartender appeared puzzled when I requested an old fashioned so I quickly changed my order. My husband did have an Old Fashioned from a different bartender it wasn't very good but was drinkable. The staff were attentive and polite. The Tampa Club is the ideal for a formal evening or private event. I would highly recommend the Tampa club.

Yelp
My parents have been members for many years and I just love it here. I have thrown parties and the food is delicious. The staff here is fantastic and very accommodating.

Yelp
Visited first time for a wedding and dinner. Very upscale and elegant. Luxuriously furnisned/decorated view with panoramic view of city, nearly 360 degrees from the 42nd floor. Dramatic wedding at sunset then classy reception and dinner......lobster/filet combo after waves of appetizersl. Not normally jealous of the upper crust 1%ers, but this is the good life. As noted by others, it is a bit of a maze to get to the club on a weekend evening.

Yelp
This is located where I work so its a great place to meet people in a calm environment. The staff here is nothing short of top notch and it matches their food.

Yelp
Edward is the best waiter! He was so kind and explained how to make a steak Diane and the special cocktail he made me. The food was delicious and the chef mage is a special anniversary dessert! The dining room is gorgeous with wood pillars and a beautiful view of the city of Tampa at sunset! Everyone should go!
google avatar

Yelp
Some of the best views in the city. If I could rate the view, it would be a 5 star and the food a solid 3. A great place for a meeting.

Yelp
I loved the views but i had a breakfast buffet which was delicious.

Yelp
Absolutely the best place in town! Great prices of food and drinks! Ask for Justin at the bar to whip you up something special he will take care of you. Everyone here is on par with service. Food us absolutely amazing! Never had anything bad here! Been going here for years. Their house made vinaigrette dressing is to die for too. Just incredible atmosphere and food. The view is to die for too!!

Yelp
Had my daughters wedding here on 10/15/16 and could not have been happier. It was everything we wanted. Brittany and her staff were fantastic and every detail was taken care of. Wedding was elegant and so organized. Food was fantastic. Loved that guests received a menu to order from. Bar was great. The view added to the splendor of the evening. Sad its over, happy for the great memories that were made. Thank you Brittany and your entire staff!

Yelp
The best customer service in Tampa by far. The best views in tampa by far. I'm a member and I love this place. I've used their venue for special events and they consistently deliver awesome ever single time.

Yelp
I was excited to take out of town guests to the Tampa Club as I had heard about what a beautiful place it was. It was a very poor experience. The service was terrible. They had multiple people waiting on our table so no one knew what the status of the meal was. One of my guests ordered a second drink and it took three requests - to different servers - and over ten minutes to get it to him. The table service was slow and disorganized. Our food sat on the tray stand as yet another person arrived to serve it and as it got cold tried to figure out who ordered what from a piece of paper instead of just asking us. For our table of five, two of the three entrees ordered were very poor. The grouper was awful. We waited a long time after we were done eating to be asked if we wanted dessert (no, we just wanted to leave). We were presented with three different checks for the meal that were all wrong. The second one was for nearly $500. for a table of five where only 3 people had a cocktail and no dessert was ordered! They were not even paying slight attention to us. It was embarrassing to have told my guests, who are accustomed to Chicago dining, that this was going to be a great evening out! This was my first and last time of going to the Tampa Club.
