East Village’s Most Exciting Chinese Restaurants - Eater NY

"All sorts of Chinese noodles are the primary draw of the Tang, a small, narrow restaurant with lots of stool seating. Since opening in August 2016, it’s served takes on classics like zhajiangmian (soybean paste noodles, here called ZJM) and dandanmian (the numbing, spicy dish, here called DDM). Appetizers such as the mouthwatering chicken thigh — a cold dish with shredded chicken in Sichuan chile oil — can round out the meal." - Serena Dai, Stefanie Tuder

Came here to try their new Taiwanese pork on rice dish 卤肉饭 and it was delicious! It’s a special at the moment so be sure to check it out. Also tried the drunk noodle (not the Thai drunken noodle), fried turnip cakes and a fried chive and tofu pocket. Love the wide variety of appetizers they offer - which are fantastic to share with a group and over some cold asian beers 😍

This is a pleasant addition to what has been a recent influx of Chinese cuisine to the East Village. Small restaurant that could easily be missed if you're not paying attention, but definitely one to stop and eat at. The noodles 🍜 were very flavorful and was a good size to leave you completely satisfied. Good spice as well on the noodles and dumplings. Despite so many Chinese restaurants (especially Sichuan) in the area now, this one holds its own. It wasn't busy at all when we ate there so I hope that was a little blip since this is a place I'd love to see staying in the neighborhood. Granted it was nice being able to sit down and and not have to wait long for the food to arrive. Good food, clean restaurant. Will try again!

Really great tasting food. I enjoyed everything. Food came quick too. Got scallion oil and braised beef noodles, garlic pork dumplings and sesame tofu.

I would literally come back to New York just to eat here again. Okay so, if you're ever in NYC, more specifically, the East Village, do yourself a favor and stop in at this restaurant. If you can handle the heat, order the drunken noodles and don't forget the dumplings! They really pack a lot flavor into every dish. The beef that comes with the drunken noodles needs it's own post all together honestly. Don't be like me, get extra. It flakes apart with such ease and is so tender it just melts in your mouth before punching you in the face with delicious flavor. I think I may have to go back just to buy more beef. I'm gonna cry when I go home because I won't be able to go eat here again any time soon.

They have some very tasty noodles with authentic flavors. The dumplings are crispy and delicious. It's kinda rare to find oxtail with noodles but they do an amazing job.

We ordered the braised beef dish which came with 2 perfectly cooked half eggs. However for a place that looks and feels like a hole in the wall, I don’t see 16$ plus as a good justification for the price. $19 with tips for a tiny bowl of soup. The portions were a bit small. This place should probably have 3 $ signs. The food was about 8/10. The place looks almost nothing like he bright and vibrant pictures. It’s quite dim.

East Village gem and it is rather authentic. Dumplings are on point. Drunken noodles rather satisfying. Not to mention that they've got Taiwanese beer. Service was attentive. All in all - 5/5, wish I had 2 stomachs!! Since I don't, I'm going back for sure!

I don't understand the hype for this place. It's mediocre. Honestly it's like a poor man's version of x'ian famous foods. We had some dumplings that were poorly wrapped - the pork fell out of loose skin. We each had a noodle bowl and they were uninspired and not good.
